Linda's Donut Shop is one of only a few businesses in this small plaza, of which one is a pretty popular taco shop. Just a few shared parking spaces were available so it could get tricky depending on the time of the day. The operating hours were limited to the morning except on weekends when the shop closes at 1 pm. I arrived shortly before noon which meant a good chunk of the daily inventory had already been sold out. That included all of the jelly filled varieties which was one type that I really wanted to try. Those sold for $2.50 each while the frosted and plain cake choices were $2.25 apiece. A half dozen would set you back $13 and a full dozen cost $23. I sure miss the days when one could purchase a dozen for less than ten dollars! My picks were a plain glazed bar, chocolate glazed, and a strawberry glazed topped with rainbow sprinkles. Each one was pillowy soft and still fairly fresh. The best one was the plain bar for its simplicity. I am not sure that they were worth $2+ a pop though. I was happy to support a local business, however there are many more choices of donut purveyors nowadays so it's unlikely I will return here.

I didn't get the woman's name but she was so helpful as we picked up our order. It was originally in 2 small bags but she helped us out by putting them in a nice big box to make carrying them easier. The donuts themselves were good, and I especially enjoyed the two old fashioned ones! They had a good balance of crunchy outside and soft inside, and the glazes were so flavorful. But this beach-side donut shop was the culinary highlight of my trip! The baker here is an artisan in the truest sense and has created a daring and imaginative array of flavor combinations. Don't let the higher prices put you off. These donuts are made from sourdough brioche dough, long-fermented for over two days. As a baker myself I understand the cost of ingredients and effort that goes into making a dough as rich as this. The butter alone likely account's for half the price. And they fry their dough in healthy high-end (and much more expensive) coconut oil. As with everything you get what you pay for. Most donut shops give you quick-rising additive-filled dough fried in cheap seed oil, but Sourpuss gives you real food, naturally leavened, and baked with care and intention. And don't sleep on the savory donuts! You might think it sounds weird, but I tried their Sweet Corn and Chili donut and it was so amazing I had to go back and buy two more! My group drove to UTC as it was another location that was listed on Google and unfortunately they don't have a store there anymore but the address is still listed online. Since a few in our party were still set on trying the donuts, we drove to the Liberty Public Market location and our luck was unfortunately not improved. We arrived at 7pm on a Saturday and one of the girls was cleaning up to get ready to close for the day. As we were about to order a large amount of the donuts, she sprayed her cleaning solution all over the glass where the donuts were located and since the glass doesn't have a top it all went directly on the donuts making them inedible. The girl working the cash register saw this, and was very understanding that we were no longer interested in purchasing the donuts. I'm hoping all of the donuts were thrown in the trash after we left and that this isn't the normal for this location. Probably will not return in the future due to the absolute mess.
