These Dounuts are no doubt the greatest. I'd buy a dozen if I was allowed but definitely go over and try these donuts .
I love Donut Bar's creme brulee donut, which I had at their original location many years ago. So when I stayed in SD recently, I sought it out again. This location was a short walking distance from my hotel in Little Italy. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Tucked inside a corporate building, this location was clean and modern, with a cute pink diner vibe.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The creme brulee donut was much bigger than I remembered but brought back the wonderful memories of its sweet custard on the inside and its hard sugar coating on the outside. The sugar rush was real, but gave me the early morning energy I needed to sprint walk back to my hotel.
So if you want to try big and fancy donuts, donut bar is the place for you! I went on a Thursday around noon and it was not busy. I took 4 back to my hotel and they were bygone my morning! I loved the crème brûlée. The blueberry cheesecake was also tasty. I also had a Boston crème and a lemon pistachio. My one drawback is that I felt like the dough was a little denser than I wanted, but overall still very tasty and I will go back!
Super cute and delicious Donut spot. Quick and friendly service. Their donuts are very unique and pretty (get your cameras out). I like that they are traditional donuts and not "cakey." Lemon pistachio is very good. Great flavors. Crème brûlée is a must. Awesome sugar crust topping. Donuts are pretty big. Good pricing. Definitely need to come back to try more.

There is no question that these are gorgeous donuts. If appearances counted for everything, they would get 10 stars from me every time. They are also large. But what's that you say? Taste matters, too? Yes, taste matters, too. There is nothing wrong with the taste of these donuts. In fact, the Nutella Overload was delicious. The Cake donut was fine. But for $5 each, I want every donut to taste fantastic and not just good. That has always been the issue with these donuts. Taste takes a backseat to looks. These are beautiful donuts for sure but you can find much cheaper, tastier ones elsewhere. The counter gal was very pleasant and knowledgeable.
Donuts, cinnamon roll, cheese danish, Boston cream bar, bacon maple bar all super delicious!! Also the home-bottled milks are precious!! Delicious and highly recommend!!

It's has a nice updated Donut shop touch.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They sell merchandise, to go drinks, snacks and treats. They were a few minutes from closing, at 2pm. I decided to go to a classic chocolate, glazed donuts. I believe he said it was Nutella, but it didn't taste like that to me. They're pretty fat and have a good weight to it. I feel like it was too dense for my liking and it didn't really have a unique taste to make me want to go back.
A bar that offers baked goods and doughnuts? I am in! For a coffee bar that is and those baked goods of course. I picked up a pistachio scone and iced coffee during my visit and are on the outside patio. The pistachio scone was quite good and came not only drizzled with creamy chocolate, but came with an abundance of chopped pistachios. It was delicious and had a very good texture. The iced coffee was pretty good. It had a slight bitterness towards the end, but other than that it was smooth and tasty. The young ladies working the business were very nice and informative. They had good senses of humor, too. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The patio outside was clean for the most part except for a few crumbs on the tables left by customers.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They offer a large amount of skillfully made doughnuts and baked goods.

We absolutely love this place! This was our first time visiting their new location, the cashier said it has a larger kitchen. I'm so happy for them! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The decor is so cute like stepping into a cartoon and the donuts are the main attraction.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The chocolate bar came in around $2 and the other donuts we bought were up to $6. I was happy to see they still have the Homer, which is one of my favorites and the Vanilla Bean. Looks like they've added some new additions, namely cinnamon rolls. My daughter's favorite thing when she was younger was the strawberry milk on tap. I think it was the novelty of milk being on tap. It felt special for her as a kid. Now it looks like they've bottled it and put it in the refrigerated section near check out, for a quick and convenient beverage to go. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There's a small section for Donut Bar merch with all sorts of things to choose from and some outdoor seating for enjoying your sweet treats on a glorious San Diego day.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The donuts came in a simple white box with a black and white sticker. There's a surprise within that sticker! The sticker says to scan the QR code to bring the image to life...so we did! It's a super cute warm welcome from Chef Santiago! It looks like they've went towards an Augmented Reality theme. I didn't notice an upstairs at this location and the cashier said they no longer have the encore, which is something I used to love. It was when the Donut Bar reopened around 5pm at night on weekends, if I remember correctly. It was a blast. Overall, it's still our go to donut place when visiting San Diego. The employees are friendly and welcoming, and the donuts are sweet and yeasty. We love it! read more
Comic con for the win!!!! This place goes all out every year with the Comic-Con donuts. Every year they bring their unique donuts into the heart of Comic-Con with their pop-ups. I usually never have luck grabbing one at their donuts at the pop-ups, but it's good to know that they offer their pop-up comic con donuts at their main shop by Little Italy. Drove down Sunday morning to grab my hand on this year's batch. With Stitch, Batman, and Pokémon, this year's donuts were amazing. The donuts are $8, and you're basically paying for the design. They are pretty, but they don't hold much flavor other than looks; it's just a basic donut that looks really good. But I remember them tasting different from all angles, but I guess this year was different. Regardless, the donuts were really good and well worth the trip. Paid it with chocolate milk or coffee and wow just wow. I Can't wait for next year. read more

Came in to give it a try since there seems to be a lot of hype around this place. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Its a very cute shop, and was VERY busy, but the staff were like a well oiled machine, everyone was very friendly and efficient, line moved quick.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I ordered a creme brûlée donut, raspberry cheesecake donut, and vanilla latte with oat milk. Latte was standard, good flavor but nothing crazy. Donuts did not live up to the hype at all. Very pretty and great for Instagram pics, but the donuts were dense and the filling was in one corner of each donut. Overall, not worth a revisit for me, I'll stick to the classic donuts for the mom and pop shops around SD. read more
We had to stop by after seeing the cinnamon rolls by their window. After trying it, it definitely was worth stopping by. It one of the best cinnamon rolls around San Diego. It has an ample amount of cream cheese frosting and cinnamon swirled around the dough. read more

I ordered the Nutella donut, the Caramel Brulee French Toast, and two coffees, came out to about $30. That's Disneyland prices. But hey, it's a business, so I can respect it. The issue was more with the food itself. The Caramel Brulee French Toast was basically half a donut, kinda soggy on the bottom, and honestly nothing special. The donut itself was also a bit too thick and doughy for my taste. That said, the staff were really nice, which is why I think 3 stars is fair. Overall, just feels a little overhyped for the price. read more
This donut shop downtown is unlike any other! What a wide variety of delicious breakfast dessert delights! They also have a special donut smash burger... and now even serve delicious mimosas! The staff is so sweet and the shop is absolutely adorable and interactive decor. Besides the lack of parking due to location, it's very walkable! Don't miss DONUT BAR when in SD! OUTRAGEOUS BURGER & FRIES, cooked to PERFECTION!!!!! It's pretty unusual for me to give another review so soon, but I just tried their double patty burger with thick cut bacon and onion rings --OMGoodness, it's a MUST HAVE! Just thinking about it now has me drooling again. And when the menu lists 2 pounds of fries, they're not kidding. Even though the burger was a substantial size, the picture makes it look like I ordered fries with a side of burger, LOLOL! Service is always on point --Jaime is just the best (over the top friendly, helpful, great suggestions, & eager to please). If you're a germaphobe, like me, you'll appreciate how clean this place is. I had an opportunity to poke around the kitchen and it's immaculate! Whenever I can, I look around kitchens (even under things), and I've never seen a working kitchen this clean before. Even the machinery looks new after use -mind blowing. If anything, usually the kitchen is where I'm shocked and scared to return. If my body could handle it, I'd be eating here daily! As for the donuts, you've seen the reviews, they're BIG, BEAUTIFUL, and DELICIOUS. Yum! If you're looking for a caffeine kick and not your usual cappuccino or latte, I highly recommend the DIRTY CHAI. It's my new fave! On top of being clean, friendly, & delicious, the owner is a joy. He's always walking around with a megawatt smile & joking around no matter where I catch him around town. If you want to know how a boss treats people, just look at their employees. Every time I try Donut Bar I swear it gets better and better. Today I came with my fiancee to grab a coffee and some donuts and it was the perfect start to our day! Staff is always so friendly and kind, puts me in a good mood just walking in the door. Today we got a dirty chai, raspberry cheesecake donut, the chocolate euphoria donut, the creme brulee donut, and old fashioned! My favorite was definitely the chocolate euphoria! The donut itself is always so buttery delicious and soft, the icing and presentation was amazing as well. I am a sucker for chocolate, so it was a no brainer to try this one. I also loved the creme brulee! It had that perfect crunch and shatter, and the filling was so smooth and divine. The raspberry cheesecake was also so good, the filling was real raspberry and not an overly sweet substitute. One thing about The Donut Bar is after eating their donuts, I don't feel sick or have a sugar rush. They're just so fresh and well made. Definitely come check them out and save time to look around the shop! They have really cool AR murals and art around the store that you can scan with your phone. Do not sleep on the donut bar look at what they've done with a cinnamon roll. What do you think they're gonna do with a maple bar, unspeakable things things said in whispers and legend. check out the photo and look at the weight the actual weight of this admiral has a gravitational field. A donut lover's heaven. I'm serious, everything is so delicately put together and so so so so good. Like, if my ex told me he wanted me back, I'd easily say no. But if he came back with a box from Donut Bar and said he wanted me back, I'd jump into his arms and say yes and take the box of donuts, and then kick him to the curb, and say just kidding, and close the door on his face. But that's something I'll talk about with my therapist. Anywayyyyyyy, the donuts from here are top tier, and you know that it's quality stuff because it tastes like it. There's plenty of parking within walking distance. And the staff is great, always very sweet and they provide excellent recommendations. First off, hat's off to creating a truly unique one of a kind donut! To me it's like a combination of a croissant, biscuit and traditional donut. All of the best qualities of each. Stopped by in the late afternoon for a donut fix! Parked across the street and walked inside the huge shiny building. Whilst walking through the lobby of the first floor I noticed a beautiful Christmas tree. Donut Bar has some tables in the lobby and directly outside. My cinnamon roll was delicious with the cream cheese icing! I loved how moist it was with plenty of icing for each bite. My pumpkin spice latte went well with my roll. Next visit perhaps I will try out the donut smash burger with grilled raspberry onion relish! Looks like two meals for me. read more

Absolutely delicious donuts! Honestly most of the donuts and the store are experiences themselves. I love the attention to detail in everything they do here. From look to taste to cohesive designs. My husband and I ordered some lattes and two donuts. I had the pistachio dream latte and he had the French toast latte. While we enjoyed both, the winner was the French toast latte! I liked the pistachio dream but it was hard to taste the pistachio as the espresso was a little burnt and overpowered the total flavor. Would absolutely be down to try it again! We did order the lemon pistachio donut and the creme brûlée donut. We devoured both of them! I will say the brûlée donut tasted more like a cake than a donut but nonetheless we loved it! We will definitely stop by next time we are downtown. Such lovely food and vibes! read more

I first tried Donut Bar at a Yelp Elite event last weekend and received a voucher, so of course I had to stop by the storefront to redeem it and check out their donuts and coffee. My partner and I came about an hour before closing, and there was still a good selection of donuts available. The team members were super friendly and even threw in an extra donut for us to try, which was a really nice touch. The donuts themselves were perfectly fluffy with just the right amount of sweetness. I'll definitely be back to Donut Bar, especially since I'm lucky enough to live near their other locations. read more

My partner and I had a donut voucher that we wanted to use so we came in Sunday around 12 We each got one donut and a coffee and the service was very friendly! The lady helping us out gave us a n extra one for fun and was super enthusiastic when helping us out! There is plenty of outside seating and a few spots inside the hotel they are adjacent too Even coming close to closing they had so many options still available while we appreciated, the donuts were very good and not overly sweet but big and fluffy! Would definitely have it again! read more

Overall, I wasn't blown away enough to say that this place is always worth the prices, but the blueberry cream cheese danish was the best i've ever had so there's absolutely 5-star items on the menu read more
So many delicious options accompanied by great service. Came here early on a Saturday morning and was no wait. The the server gave us a lay of the land and described all the popular options as well as her personal favorites. I was intrigued by the crème brûlée French toast that was on this way and the server said it was their number one seller I knew I had to try it. It did not disappoint! It was made to order came out warm and fresh with blueberry jam, butter, and maple syrup. My partner got the lemon pistachio doughnut as well as the raspberry cheesecake and said they were also amazing. That I mention the donuts are huge! They offer both indoor and outdoor seating which was great because it was a little chilly outside. Definitely worth a visit if in the area. read more
I was on a hunt for something sweet this am and what better than a donut. It took us a few minutes to walk to and locate as it is nestled in a corporate building. It is so fun and lively and hem you walk in. The donut counter is presented so nicely and inviting. All the prettiness just draws you in. We ordered a glazed, creme brûlée and salted Carmel. The creme brûlée had the hard topping which was ok. Once you got to the custard inside the combo was a subtle taste of the dessert. Not overly sweet at all which good but not balanced with the taste. Little disappointed Salted Carmel was better for me. The icing o enough sweetness of the salted Carmel to suffice the taste buds. I actually enjoyed that. I like the cake donut base. It wasn't overly dense which combines well with the topping. Hot chocolate was tasty and went well with the donuts. I would try this location again as they offer a few combos that sounded intriguing. I love me a novelty donut shop. It was fun and cute. I liked the ideas they had. Not everything was executed that well though. The good: The French toast donut (yum!) and the big poppa tart donut (like a pop tart and a donut had a really big baby). The not-so-good: The Nutella donut (just tasted like a chocolate donut, which was super disappointing because I love Nutella), the grilled cheese donut (way too much bready donut; they should have sliced the donut in half; this did not need 2 whole donuts). Would I try this place again? Yes, but I'll be more wary of the donuts that look too big and bready. read more

YES! We have several Vegan donuts each day and most do not contain nuts.

YES! We even have FREE treats for the doggies when they come in!

We went on the weekend and right at opening and were able to easily find parking across the street.

No, my co worker is gluten free. We called and they said they don't have the correct facility for it.
Are these donuts considered vegan? I don't eat meat and some places use shortening that have traces of animal fat that the donuts are fried in. Do you know if this place does the same thing?
We never use animal fat to make our donuts at the Downtown Donut Bar location. Always plant based shortening.
Do they make letter donuts?
I'm sure if you special order them they would make them.
Are they cake donuts or yeast donuts?
I think there is both, but for the most part they are yeast donuts. so delicious :D

Yes, but it's a super small place and they only have 3 sitting areas.

This depends on the day of the week. The line goes by very quickly for the many different options that are present.
