The four stars is for the food. They recently posted their now (new?) open for lunch hours. And as we we were going to be in the area, we decided to stop by. There were not any other customers when we first came in -- maybe because the sign in the window said "closed". I pointed that out to the bartender and she went and turned the sign around. Said maybe that's why they'd only had one other couple in that day so far (!). Anyhow, this is NOT fast food. The "restaurant" is located inside Holy Mackerel. You might not realize that from the outside. Unless you look closely at the flags and signs. Inside the venue, it has some very cool decor. In one corner are the huge beer silver metal tanks. It's probably a fun nighttime place and would be a good place to hold a party. We sat at the bar and ordered. My husband tasted a couple of their beers, but nothing jumped out. And then we waited. We were almost about to leave when our food was delivered. The portions were huge and the dishes looked wonderful. And when we each tasted our selections, we agreed that it was worth the wait. Just be prepared. I had their fried shrimp basket. I ate half and had the other half for dinner. The large shrimp were very lightly battered. Loved them. They provided both tartar and cocktail sauce, but they didn't need either. The house made fries were very good, too. I'd have this dish again. I traded my coleslaw for one of my husband's side dishes of baked beans. We both really liked the sweet beans. He got their pulled pork platter. It was a dish of pulled pork topped with bacon and sausages. It was a large portion also. And he too brought half home. So, for a surprisingly good tasting lunch, you should stop by. You might even find a beer you like. But just allow for some waiting time. read more

It's a goodbye to the longstanding Old Florida Seafood House and a welcome hello to Holy Mackerel Beers also known as Danny's BBQ (they're one in the same place....but Holy Mackerel is the beer and Danny's is the BBQ...or so one is lead to believe.), which now, after a complete gutting and renovation, maintains that location. Upon entry, I was immediately impressed with the extent of the renovations which are complete and the flare of its charming industrial but also items nostalgic décor. Oh, and the smell of the BBQ immediately had e salivating. I was warmly greeted and given the most comfortable of seats. For my meal, I started off with one of their custom-crafted dark beers which were totally robust, flavorful, and a delight to my palate. And by the way, the beer offerings change weekly. Then for food, I had their half rack of pork ribs along with the included two side choices of Crispy Brussel Sprouts and a side of baked beans. The meat of the ribs was full of delicious flavor as well as falling off the bone tender. And by the way, I'd consider their easy on the wallet food prices a bargain. For a really good beer or BBQ meal, I'm a total fan of Danny's BBQ and Holy Mackerel Beers too and recommend you try it. read more

Holy Mackerel this place was delicious! Came in on a Saturday to try the new BBQ place located in Holy Mackerel Beers. The service was great, everyone was very nice and attentive. I felt like a regular and they've only been open for like 5 days. They present a sauce caddy with 4 different flavors that I ended up mixing together. I ordered the combo pulled pork and brisket with Mack n cheese and baked beans (as seen pictured). All the combo's also come with corn on the cob and cornbread. So it's a lot of food. The vibe of the place is very chill and they play great music with flashing lights. I don't think I'd come here for a first date cause it's a little loud. There is a lot of space so bring all your friends. The bartender also mentioned they are expanding and I can't imagine how BIG this place with be then! I will definitely be back for my bbq and beer fix! read more

I was excited to try this place as I know all restaurants in Wilton manors sell good quality food but this one really disappointment me I've noticed that my order was cold , had missing items and wasn't worth it to make uturn back to restaurant but once I got home I ate my food it went downhill the brisket was very tough and cut wrong so that's why it was impossible to eat or chew it it's quite shocking and disappointing I got one beef rib instead of two , 4 slices of sausage not a whole piece the only thing that I will say that was really good was the baked beans and Mac & cheese I really hope they can find a solution read more

The worst BBQ I have ever had. The brisket was severely undercooked and chewy. The beef rib was not only severely undercooked and chewy but also cold. To top it off they did not have any pork, and the food if you can call it that, took an hour to serve. read more

This so-called BBQ restaurant was a TOTAL FAIL! My nephew and I went today for lunch at 1:30 pm. It was my pick, specifically for BBQ brisket, as I'm a fanatic. Entering, we saw a whopping two tables occupied. Ours was the third. Notably, the floors were visibly unswept and we were seated and waiting at least 10 minutes until we were finally approached by waitstaff. We ordered a beer flight and a vodka tonic which took yet another 20 minutes to arrive. Interestingly, the 4-beer flight was unlabeled. You guess which is which? It was then we also received the water promised a half hour earlier when we were seated. When we attempted to order, this bbq haven HAD NO BRISKET. Why not? Well, "It's still being cooked and won't be ready for another hour. Do you want ribs instead?" In exasperation we decided to end the pain and ordered no comestibles. As we departed, we encountered other patrons at an outside table also leaving. Thinking perhaps I might have missed something good, I inquired if they'd had the ribs. They said indeed they'd had the ribs, but they were burnt to a crisp! They had also been told there was no cornbread which was to accompany their meals and when all three held up their hands to waggle their orange fingers, they advised us that there were no hand wipes to clean their hands. They were visibly upset and said they'd not return, nor will I. Save yourself from poor service, unavailable menu items, and a sad and aggravating dining experience. Go elsewhere! read more

Ordered delivery from here and was disappointed. Portions were only a fraction of what was indicated on the menu so what was the $30 I paid for? What kind of BBQ place does not include sauce? We were here on a Wednesday night. The place was very cold, the food took 55 minutes to come out and they weren't busy. Out of 5 orders, 3 were completely wrong - not even close. For our area, this is a great place for bbq. All the meats were fresh and tender. Smoked just right and had a tasty bbq sauce. Side dishes all tasted freshly made, and were delicious. Prices are fair and decent portions. I would highly recommend! read more

Officially one of the worst meals I've had in months. "Cornbread" was actually these little disk shaped pellets that were cold, tough and chewy. Pretty sure they were microwaved. Then, I ordered the brisket sandwich that should be a hallmark for any BBQ restaurant. It was like leather. It had to be cut with a steak knife. Three out of four bites had to be spit out cause they couldn't be chewed. Fries were greasy and cold. How do you screw up fries??? The vibe was awful as well. Live music was ok..but it took competition with the club music thumping from next door. We were confused when we arrived by the name Holy Mackerel and when we asked the server what the restaurant name was...her response was "I don't even f**king know. I just started two days ago". Dropping the F bomb should have been a sign. Tip was added to our bill. Figures because I can't imagine giving one otherwise. Save yourself a trip and go elsewhere. It was awful!!! read more
