I tried again today, but unfortunately an entire section of their parking lot was devoted to selling signs for one political candidate, including a sign that so politely read "Make Liberals Cry Again." That's... nice. Look, I'm happy to have a civilized discussion about different approaches to trade policy, infrastructure investment, health care access, and reproductive rights, but honestly, Dan's Place, take a moment and think about what your are promoting. I've down the road from this place since it opened. I've only been about two or three times. Every time I'm so deeply disappointed. The last time I got a chicken cutlet dinner. What a joke. I ordered to go on 8/13/12 to be picked up at 7:35pm after my sons football practice. I felt it was just OK and I doubt I will be back. The employee that answered the phone was short, snotty and rushed me. When I went to pick up our order at the designated time. I stood at the counter (right in front of the cashier) and she not one time looked up to ask me to wait a minute. She ignored me for over a minute while she was counting tips in the tip jar. I gave her my name and she snapped "its not ready" and walked away. Half of my order (the fried appetizers) were sitting on the counter getting cold and soggy while I waited an additional 10 minutes for our pizza to get done. We ordered fried pickles, calamari, a calzone, pepperoni pizza and a spinach pie. My husband liked the calzone and the kids liked the pizza. The spinach pie was burned on the bottom and dry. Hubby didn't really care for the pickles. they were soggy, cold and he said didn't have much flavor so he ended up throwing them away. The calamari was a little chewy and soggy but they were a little more edible than the spinach pie. Nothing makes me more crazy than spending my hard earned money on food that should not be served. How hard is it to see if something is burnt or soggy? I should have taken all of the food back and got a refund but it was getting late. Not only did I get Atrocious service, the food was disappointing. Spending $50 on takeout is NOT something I want to do when the overall experience sucks. I will make sure I tell everyone I know that this place isn't worth their time or money. I visit Dan's often, easily once a month and I've only had one terrible experience. The food is amazing and the waitstaff is USUALLY good. I come with a big party often and they are accommodating. Overall a good restaurant, but our bad experience was something I don't ever want to experience again. Myself and 6 others came to eat on a Thursday night, it was about 10pm which was on the later side and I could tell that they weren't too happy. They seated us and everything was fine. The majority of us purchased alcohol and food. Our waitress was acting strange but we didn't really think anything of it till we received our bill. Our waitress separated our checks for us which was nice. A friend of mine gave her the money including her tip, and we had all paid with a card and left the tip on the table. Our waitress had only seen the tip from the one friend who gave her everything cash and had not seen the rest of the tables tips. The waitress had come up to our table and asked if anything was wrong with the service because it was the lowest tips she had ever received. We were ASTONISHED because she had only gotten one of our tips, and still have 6 on the table. She had then proceeded to complain about how she makes very little hourly wage and she stayed later for our table. We were all speechless. None of us knew what to do. We were all very angry because she had failed to realize that she had $25 more dollars on the table that she had not accounted for. She based the entire table on one tip of $4. Not one of us seven regulars have been back since. It's unfortunate because we enjoy think place but I don't think we'll be coming back. read more

I'm glad my truck broke down Sunday, not far from the TA truck stop across the street from Dan's, or I may have never discovered this well designed, great restaurant, with delicious food, amazing helpful staff, I plan on making the 107 mile journey back after the covid restrictions are lifted to bring my mother to enjoy the positive, clean and beautiful atmosphere. I had never been to Dan's Place, but had heard great things about it from several friends and family members. My sister and I decided to meet here for a drink since it is a central location for us. It was a busy night and we were told we had about a 30 minute wait, since the bar was packed we had decided we wanted to wait for a table. I was a little disappointed when we found ourselves waiting well over an hour, and the hostess didn't seem to know what was going on. (this was my only complaint) When we were finally seated we decided to split a pitcher of the sangria, which was not only a good deal, but was delicious! It had just the right mixture of fruit and wine flavor. We each got something to eat and the food was delicious! While we waited a long time for our table, it was made up for in food service. The waitress was very attentive and checked on us several times. The portions were great and I left satisfied. I would definitely go back. If you like live music, they also have bands on the weekend. While loud, the band was amazing went, although would not be a good setting for a first date, etc. read more

Everything is as good as you would hope, nothing is over the top. Servers have always been hard to relate to and really connect with, but Ive been able to overlook that. Food is always consistent, clearly ensure that every dish looks and tastes the same. My only suggestion would be to consider starting the process of putting out new menus. Drink menus have sharpie all over them with the same beers from 3 years ago. Lunch and Dinner menus have a lot of great options, but some new additions are needed. Keep up the great work. read more

Called ahead to check on a wait time for outdoor seating. Was told we could not put in a reservation but it would be a 5 min wait. Arrived at the restaurant and was told a 30-35 min wait. Waited around for an hour. Asked about how much longer and was told "could not tell us a time." WORST MOST UNORGANIZED PLACE EVER. Oh and DEFINITELY not following guidelines for safe Covid practices. The main dining area has HORRIBLE acoustics and is hard to have a conversation when the place is crowded. The bar area is much nicer to dine in. It has better atmosphere and is less loud. The main area is a bit boring but probably better for larger groups and people bringing kids. Some of the wait-staff has been fantastic while a few others are just average to so-so. Prices are pretty decent and the owner seems to be around most times I am there. This gives me comfort that he keeps a handle on how is place is doing. Had it not been for their extensive options for those with gluten allergies, I probably would have given them 3 stars, but having so many options really bumps them up a notch in my book! I do have a couple of minor complaints about the restaurant, which I view more as warnings than anything else. It certainly doesn't deter me from revisiting this place! 1) Location: On the plus side, Dan's is literally right off of 95. On the negative, it's in West Greenwich, which really isn't convenient for most people. 2) Wait times: On a Friday at 7 pm, I can expect a wait. That's fine. But, it's hard for me to comprehend why at 9 pm on a Saturday with open tables I'm told there is a 45 minute wait. To be honest, it almost seemed like they wanted me to leave when I heard the wait time. And leave, I did. We met up here for lunch with some friends. It's a decent sized place and had a motorcycle theme. The menu has a lot of basics--pizza, burgers, quesadillas, sandwiches, etc. We got potato skins and mozzarella sticks for our apps. Personally, I did not like the cheese sticks. I didn't like the breading or taste. My husband and friends thought they were pretty good. They looked odd as well and I wouldn't get them again. I'm not a fan of potato skins but they looked good and everyone else enjoyed them. I got a small cheese pizza, a couple burgers were ordered and a steak quesadilla. The pizza was good, everyone enjoyed their meals. Overall, I wasn't that impressed. My pizza stand had dried ketchup on it and I thought the food I had was average. Great atmosphere. Very friendly bartenders and wait staff. The owners are on site frequently. Country music can be heard subtle in background. Menu variation is definitely positive. Mexican night is Thursday. Best fish tacos ever for only $9.99. My partner and I have become regulars! It's worth checking out and purchasing your raffle tickets for a beautiful Harley Davidson to be won (I believe) in June . From what I understand, all proceeds are donated to a particular foundation at this yearly raffle. Overall a great family owned, family friendly and just fun place to gather. read more

Ok, so I sold an Iphone and the person I sold it to said to meet at Dan's Place. I never heard of this place before and told my wife about it when I got back from the sale. We went there Saturday night 11/3/12 to have a few beers and see a band called "The Empty Bottle" Well, the beer was ice cold in frosted glasses and only 2.50 each. The band was amazing. We didn't eat any food, but the place was packed with people eating, so it couldn't be bad. We looked at the menu and it was full of great sounding food. Also, the restrooms were pristine and that is a huge deal to me. I would highly recommend this place for a few beers, music Fri and Sat night and why not try the food. We will be going back soon. Got the Steamers from the Special menu. Absolutely awful. The clams were too over cooked and there was grime in them. They give you two sauces with it (clam sauce and butter.) Nice location close to home and convenient to the highway. Looks tidy inside and out with plenty of parking. Large and varied menu with gluten free options for several dishes - including pizza. Our dinners have always been well prepared - simple, good food - decent value. The service has been spotty...not so much inattentive as impersonal. I need to remember next time we go to ask NOT to be seated in the dining room that overlooks the parking lot. The two-story ceiling looks nice, but it's SO loud and cavernous in there - it is the single turn-off of going to Dan's. The booths surrounding the bar are not as chaotic. Besides being in the part of RI of where you only go if you live down that way, are lost, or are going to CT, Dan's Place is a pretty great place. $7 pitchers and a great selection of apps, sandwiches and pizza how can you go wrong? I am a big fan of their calzones. They have a great buffalo chicken calzone. I like the places that make their calzones with the grilled chicken instead of the fried. I have not had any food I have not liked. Not to mention they have trivia on Tuesday nights that we come to quite frequently. If you hear a cleverly inappropriate team name its most likely the team I am on. Try out Dan's Place, I have enjoyed all of my visits here so far. read more

As far as a restaurant it's alright. The food is good enough but nothing really special. As a bar, it's great. They generally have bands there and the outside deck is great sitting outside in the summer. I've eaten here a few times (always on weekends at night although not terribly late) and it's just too loud to really enjoy a meal. I could understand if I was just eating some nachos or something but when you're serving actual dishes intended to be dinner I would like to be able to have a conversation with the person across from me without shouting. I don't know what happened to this formerly great place. This used to be my and my husband's go to for everything from burgers to their formerly great Saturday night prime rib. The last 4 times we went everything was either "meh" or downright bad. Last time we went we ordered the spinach artichoke app. It was whole artichoke hearts with a little spinach mixed in in some sort of cold creamy sauce. No cheese on top, and cold. the "homemade" tortilla chips were stale and covered (I mean REALLY) in salt. Sent it back, no replacement. My burger was supposed to be well done. It was very rare, and stone cold. Husbands steak was supposed to be medium - it was very rare, and stone cold. Sent both back which got us attitude from waitress. If this had been an isolated incident I'd forgive it, because this place used to be fantastic, however it seems this is the new norm. Disappointing, and we won't be back. read more

Dan's Place was part of the Pizza Passport offered by RI food fights. Until then I hadn't heard of it. I checked out their menu online and realized, yes, it's worth a try and the longer drive from Providence. Reading an appetizer list will usually let me know how creative a place is. There were the usual suspects, but then also fried pickles, salmon stuffies, poutine, and hog wings. Of course, I went for the pizza. I had the special of the day: clams casino pizza. I was not let down. I also took advantage of their 50 cent wings -- the Thai sauce was delicious and the bourbon sauce was homemade and quite sticky and marvelous. The rueben sandwich was also great with plenty of corned beef, tangy sauerkraut, and an outstanding marble rye bread. The sweet potato fries are ON POINT. For dessert, my party decided to split an order of fried oreos, which were well executed and served with a big scoop of ice cream. I was sad to not have enough room to try the grapenut pudding, which is a weakness of mine. All in all, everything I ordered was pretty great. My friend's Cuban sandwich was a bit too salty, which we blamed on the ham. He took some off the sandwich to make it less salty, and was satisfied. The only issue I encountered was the polite, but very distracted waitress. She seemed to be overwhelmed with her section and didn't seem to really listen to us when we spoke to her, but her positive attitude made up for it. Dans place used to be one of my favorite places but after the experience I just had I will never go back.We were seated around 130. Amy the Waitress took our drink order and promptly brought them over but never asked if we were ready to order or if we wanted an appetizer but she was very prompt at answering text messages at our table. We had to call her over to order our food and even with that we waited over an hour to receive it. We had an appointment for 3 (which we gave ourselves time)but we had to ask for to go containers. Dan's Place is a 25 minute drive from my home. As a typical Rhode Islander we don't-usually travel very far to go to a restaurant. We gladly make the trip to Dans because of their delicious food and friendly staff. I very rarely order a burger out because most places never cook my burger correctly. I'll ask for a medium cooked burger and I always up with an over cooked burger. Not at Dans. I ordered the King Ranch Burger medium well and it came back perfectly cooked with a juicy pink center. The burger was one of the best I've ever tasted. Served on a brioche bun with fries and a tasty pickle spear it was perfect. My husband got the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and gravy with broccoli and he finished his entire plate. Our waitress was attentive and checked back to see how we were doing many times. We are visiting for two nights from out of town and had dinner here both evenings. We cannot say enough about the waitress staff. They were absolutely the sweetest girls I have had wait on us. They were happy, efficient and right on with their suggestions. Wish this restaurant was close to home. BTW, the food was excellent and delivered red hot. Very enjoyable experience! Recently moved to the area and tried Dan's for the first time last night. I really enjoyed it! If you happen to go in the summertime, ask if they have lobster bisque for their soup of the day. It is incredible, with huge chunks of lobster in it. Sooo good. For my entree, I had the taco salad (substituting beef for shrimp) and it was okay. I loved the shell it came in, put I wish they used a different kind of lettuce than the pre-bagged salad mix that filled the majority of the taco shell. All in all, I enjoyed my experience and I'll definitely will be back. read more

This was our first time to Dan's place; we would come back again. I had the extra thick crust pizza which was not that much thicker than the normal pizza crust. At $3.75 extra for thick crust I didn't think it was worth the up-charge. I thought the pizza was ok. The crust lacked flavor and had minimal sauce and cheese. I would try something else next time. The Poutine fries were excellent. My wife had the Taco Salad which she said was very good. The menu overall has a great variety. The location is great as it is very easy to access right off 95. Great place side of the road ,nice atmosphere terrific service and cool spacious comfortable seating. Daily special I ordered took a bit but I could see it was freshly made. Well seasoned with fresh veggies and the olives in my Mediterranean Chicken were full of flavor (not those canned flavorless olives you often get). Careful attention to detail is how I describe my dish. They know how to crank out fast things like crispy onion rings and slow dishes like the chicken. Very pleased would definitely return.
