Dante is a restaurant that is bustling with activity, chatter, and laughter. As we only wanted to enjoy the drinks, my friends and I were seated at the bar. The cocktails average $18, but Dante has their Negroni Sessions (happy hour) from 3 - 5PM where select drinks are $10. We enjoyed every drink we ordered. Cocktail highlights include clarified pina colada and el diablo on tap. If you're looking for a spritz, I enjoyed the cosmo spritz and clever clover club. My friends and I had a wonderful time at Dante because we were able to leisurely enjoy our drinks and catch up without feeling rushed. I also love the decor here because it makes me feel like I'm somewhere along the Italian Riviera. Reservation recommended. read more

Dante was a real unexpected surprise for me. As we were in the neighborhood and heading to a different spot that was closed. I'm so glad we ended up at Caffe Dante! It's definitely a vibe! I had Bronzino which was small but tasty. With smashed peas which were unexpectedly delicious. They have many specialty cocktails that all sounded yummy. I had a watermelon mint vodka drink. But the Tiramisu was excellent!! Save room for dessert. It is a bit pricey. Very trendy with indoor and outdoor seating. Gender neutral bathrooms. I would definitely recommend this place! read more

3.5/4. A good date spot. Ambiance is dark and moody with candle lighting. Not a 5 star bc the 2 drinks I got tasted exactly the same lol - Tequila & Apples and Supergreen. Both were seasonal, both were good. However, a letdown since I felt like I just got the same cocktail twice lol. The supergreen tasted like a green juice so at least I felt somewhat healthy. Dante has a special Negroni happy hour called Negroni Sessions everyday. Alas I am not a Negroni girl but that's also a vibe. Overall, a vibey place with good canoodling/date potential in our fav West Village. Be sure to diversify your cocktails tho :). read more

First time here. I'm a New Jerseyan but love Manhattan , too! This week, My Sister And Her Boyfriend Came From México Where We Were Born. It was a quick trip but we found this place when we need a coffee and a dessert; we were so tired from walk and walk and walk; tired but happy to see every detail in this beautiful and big city. A few years ago we found Dante looking for the "best Aperol Spritz in Greenwich Village." It has great "Village Vibe" since it's been there over 100 years. The cocktails are excellent. We love the Garibaldi, Negroni, and , of course, their Aperol Spritz. They do have a full menu but we've only had cocktails here. Cool vibe and on Fridays - not sure about other days - they have a Gypsy Jazz Band that is terrific. There's both indoor and outdoor seating but it's difficult to get a reservation and almost impossible to call the restaurant. An absolutely must for people who love cocktails and Greenwich Village. read more

I came here for drinks with friends and I was pleasantly impressed. The restaurant is beautiful and the service is incredible. We came here for happy hour and got $10 martinis. I'm not even big into martinis, but the one I ordered was delicious. Our server was so nice and attentive too. Really sweet, attentive servers and a classic Greenwich Village ambience. Highly recommend the banana bread, which is griddled and comes out warm with a side of honey ricotta. I had an enjoyable mushroom frittata while my partner gave rave reviews for her eggs and prosciutto. Ok so I am updating my review because my 1st time at Dante was great but I WASN'T ABLE TO GET THE DAMN CHICKEN PARM THANKS TO COVID!!!! This time I made SURE that it was available or else I was going to do some SERIOUS complaining (Mainly to myself). 1st things 1st, the flatbreads. We ordered the Caprese & the Verde with spicy sausage. Caprese was delicious but I need some meat in my life so I recommend the Verde if you're anything like me. Had the CLASSIC grapefruit & friends while I waited for the LONG OVERDO Chicken Parm. The grapefruit & friends is easily my favorite drink here but I'm a sucker for grapefruit so make sure you try a good 3-4 drinks to find your favorite also. The fluffy margarita Royale is also high up there on my list of recommended drinks so start with either of those 2 drinks. After I finished my fluffy margarita Royale THE GREATNESS SHOWED UP, that beautiful Chicken Parmesan. Ohhhhh myyyyyyy goodness, this was everything that I thought it would be. The only problem I had was with myself for not ordering 2 sighhhh. Flavor was outstanding & the chicken was tender. I need to go back IMMEDIATELY. While I was devouring that bad boy I had a lavender Negroni which was delicious, but it started to get me a little buzzed which was fine until I ordered the dreaded "Olivette". Do not, I repeat DO NOT get this drink unless you want to get the party started right away. I ordered it because I liked the name but had NO CLUE it was as strong as it was. This drink pushed me over the edge and I had to drink nothing but water the rest of the evening hahaha well until I ended the evening with my espresso martini Lastly I saw the awards that they received for being the best bar in the world in 2019 in a trophy case, very impressive. They sell to go bottles also which is the best thing a bar can do during covid so I bought 2 to take home and enjoy. To sum it all up, GET OFF THE COUCH AND GO TO DANTE TOMORROW YOU BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE!!!! I assure you that you'll have an unforgettable experience just like I did! read more

Was in the neighborhood around lunch time and decided to give it a try. (Of course, I was very familiar with this as Caffe Dante in its former version.) We did not have reservations, but there was seating at the counter in the room across from the bar. The minestrone soup of the day was excellent, and the mushroom flatbread was simply fantastic. Perhaps the best flatbread I've had. The cappuccino as well was perfect - just like the old days! Service excellent. I was a little sad to see the old Dante's turned into a cocktail bar, but I have to admit it's a great spot for food, which it wasn't previously. read more

Came here for some drinks and appetizers. They are well known for their Negroni and let me tell you.. their chocolate Negroni is the best! My all time favorite drink. It's a perfect blend of chocolate, orange, and a little bit of bitterness. The appetizers were delicious too. The bread is so good- freshly baked with creamy butter. It's so moist and thick that it's very filling. The fried fish skins are covered in small pieces of egg. It has perfect texture and saltiness. The one thing I regret is ordering the tres leches cake. It was my least favorite dish. Super soggy and incredibly sweet. Will stick to my savory foods next time! Otherwise, ambience was incredible. Every detail is well thought out. If this review was just for drinks, I'd give it a 12/10! I got the clarified pina colada and it was the most delicious and unique drink I've ever had (no joke!). The muscles were perfectly prepared in broth and served with a grilled piece of toast. The tiramisu was just ok, I probably won't order it again. It didn't have a strong enough coffee or chocolate taste. It took about 40 minutes to be seated. read more

Great service and solid alcoholic drinks. The food was standard, quick and delicious. I think you would be coming here for the drinks though. With apparently new york city's best espresso martini, it did not disappoint! There's two espresso martinis, the tequila based one that I tasted was delicious! I would give this restaurant 3.5 stars. Food: The steak tartar was good not great. It was under seasoned and was a bit bland. However, it was a good texture and was good quality meat. Gnocchi pomodoro - pomodoro sauce was good but the gnocchi was mushy. I prefer it to be al dente. Mussels - sauce was good, it came with two big pieces of bread. The mussels were minuscule but tasted good. Service - we walked in and they were able to accommodate us, which was very nice. They sat us at the bar, but gave us a waitress. She asked for our drink order without giving us a chance to look at the menu. They don't give paper menus anymore either, which is annoying. The waitress wouldn't leave us alone, she was on top of us the entire night and bumped into me every time she walked by. Overall, I wouldn't eat there again, but it wasn't awful. read more

Our server was attentive, and the food was so good that I took uncharacteristically few pictures. This is a great spot for pasta and cocktails. They have a smaller pasta menu, but the orchiaetta with sausage is great. The risotto is okay, not my fav. The apps are great though. I highly suggest the burrata and the arancini. They have great cocktails including the blood orange spritz. read more

I wish I had come here more often during the covid summer but I was here today for lunch with a toddler in tow. They have done a good job with their outdoor dining.. it has a Parisienne sidewalk restaurant vibe, great for people watching and just reading a book with a drink in hand. Or coffee. And a beret on your head maybe. Anyway I digress. On to the food. I got a Pimm's cup to start with which is not only a very pretty drink but also very good. For food, I got the burrata appetizer and spaghetti con vongole entree. Both very very good. The service was on point so all in all, I'll be back. I can imagine this place must be packed on a weekend, I was there for lunch on a Thursday, 20 minutes after they opened and nearly all their tables were taken. Going to keep this short, but a tremendously stylish takeover/revamp ( by an Aussie group).of an old old Italian spot on Macdougal Street hasade this by far the best place I can think of to bring anyone for drinks. Man, woman, paramour, enemy, lawyer, frenemy, you name em, they'll love it and thank you profusely. Draft Negronis, 20 different Negronis, amazing style, signature fun cocktails, have a Garibaldi, come for the drinks. Period. The food is fine, haven't really pumped thru the menu, had a cheese plate, was sublime. Had a prosciutto cotto and cheese on toasted croissant. Was just fine. Come for the drinks. I was super stoked to visit Dante for brunch with a friend while visiting NYC. Unfortunately, I thought it was a little underwhelming. The menu is pretty small, there weren't too many options for brunch. Of course, my latte with the bear was absolutely adorable and tasted well. The croissant was pretty standard and the avocado toast was simple. Not sure my ordering was good since everything was just standard to me. If I went back, I'd definitely switch up my order. The restaurant itself is adorable, and the service is good. Our table was super tight and I felt on top of the people next to me but it was all good. So good!! Our friends took us here to celebrate on a Sunday night dinner, and we had a blast. I know they're known for their cocktails, but because we split a bottle of wine, I didn't get to try their infamous cocktails. Will definitely have to come back next time for them. It's a cute, cozy, well-decorated vibe inside. Great date night feel. Service impeccable. Not too loud but definitely busy. A really great feel. For appetizers, we started with the steamed mussels and the infamous Dante burrata. The burrata lived up to the hype. So good, and I don't even like burrata!! Not too "burrata" heavy. So well balanced. The steamed mussels were a new appetizer to my friends that I pushed to get, because I like mussels, and it was an unexpected crowd pleaser. My friend doesn't even like seafood very much and she liked it!! They were so well seasoned and dipping the sourdough in the mussel "soup" at the bottom was delicious. For mains, we got the wild boar ragu and the chitarra alle vongole with clams. Both were good! A little salty and heavily flavored on both, but good portion sizes. And decent meal. Could not complain. But definitely favored the appetizers in terms of food. For dessert, we got their tiramisu (excellent) and the key lime pie (which I heard was good, but I don't like key lime). Service was excellent, and we had a stellar experience overall. Definitely noted that I need to come back for their drinks! read more

I took a trip to NYC back in October and really wanted to visit Dante for brunch, but our schedule didn't line up to make it work. When I planned another trip to the city with my friend, I knew Dante brunch had to be top of the to do list! Let me start by saying the food did not disappoint! We ordered and shared the following items: - Burrata with sea salt, served with honeycomb and cranberry & pecan sourdough (10/10, amazing!) - Toasted croissant with prosciutto cotto and asiago cheese - Roasted potatoes with black lava salt, rosemary and mustard aioli (best potatoes I've ever had!) - They also had an Easter cake that was very light and sweet. We each had a peach Bellini, and they were the best Bellinis either of us have ever had. It tasted like it had fresh peach purée in it. The pricing is fair, the service was really good, and the restaurant is so adorable! What more do you need to convince you to make a reservation? read more

My friend and I walked in for dinner on a Saturday and snagged a table in the indoor dining room. It's very dark in there, but ambient for a romantic dinner in a classy yet cozy setting. They seem to be known for their drinks and one sip of their espresso martini confirmed that. I ordered the Mortadella, Stracciatella cheese, Toasted Pistachio and Rosemary flatbread without expecting to love it as much as I did. The flatbread was so cripsy and thin, yet strong enough to bear the weight of its lavish toppings of sausage and cheese. The combo of the toppings was magical. I'm still dreaming of this flatbread and might order it again when I return. Would recommend Dante for the ambience, food, and fair prices. read more

Hostess on 01/3/2025 was a bit rude and not welcoming. Me and my forever date have been coming here for some time now-- we always do a walk in, ask to sit at the bar to share a dessert and drink. Usually never an issue as we are typically seated within no more than 30 minutes. Yesterday, the hostess just completely disregarded us. Told us walk in start at 10pm... didn't even care to ask or listen to me when I said we'd be just getting a quick dessert. As a regular here, this was a poor experience. Although one of the firsts, the employee should at least want to accommodate a quick dessert at the bar for a couple and not be so off putting with the approach. Distasteful. read more

Great service. I went in on a Sunday without a reservation and was seated. My friends were stuck in the traffic and couldn't come immediately. The hostess was kind enough to let me hold on to the table. We got around 7 drinks - some that were within the Negroni sessions and some that were outside of it. My favorite was the aeprol spritz . Anyone who's a fan of Negronis needs to pay a visit to Dante. The Original Dante has been open for over 100 years, and the inside of the bar is really beautiful. It's a cozy space to have a cocktail with friends. There's a good amount of seating inside so it provides a really comfortable space. The bartenders and severs are very pleasant and knowledgeable about the drink menu. The price point of the cocktails is reasonable, and I snagged a $10 Negroni. I tried the white Negroni which was a really tasty version. It tasted really sweet to me - so make sure you like a sugary (and strong) drink! read more

Returned with a reservation (for outdoor dining) and had a great experience! This time, I tried the Dante's jungle bird and Mai Tai cocktails - the Mai Tai was perfect. As for food, my boyfriend and I shared the heirloom tomatoes with freekah, marinated goats cheese & herbs, plus the orecchiette with salsa cruda, olives, capers & pecorino, and the roasted salmon with ciambotta and pesto genovese. The salmon was my favorite dish. Orecchiette was good, but the ragu here is much better, so I'll stick to that. 5 stars forever. read more

Super cute location located in a cute area. Have always heard rave reviews of this place as both inside and outside are adorable. Met a wonderful couple on my solo trip to Cabo. Unfortunately we met an hour before they were heading home so our time was way too short. However, we exchanged Instagram and kept in touch here and there. The lady was in town this past week for work so we decided to meet up for a quick drink here. We only got drinks this time and they were fine. Drinks were mild in my opinion and there was a Vermouth drink that was just not a doing it for me. Hi I'm new to dining here. I saw on their web that the a la carte menu is available "from 5pm on saturdays and sundays," so which menu do they serve prior?

On weekends it's brunch menu only before 4 and I believe kitchen closes to prepare for dinner at 5.

I remember liking their drinks, but I never stopped back in, as I don't go out to drink too often. More recently, I was here a few months ago with a large group for their Sunday Roast. The staff were friendly and gave us good service, even though the place was crowded, and there was some loud but pleasant live music playing in the background. Of course, a bunch of us got cocktails. I went with their signature Irish Coffee, as I thought the Alexander one, based on a Brandy Alexander, would be a little bit too sweet. Said drink was $17 and had Teeling Small Batch Irish whiskey, Andytown coffee, Demerara, freshly whipped cream, and nutmeg. As can be seen in the hundreds, or rather thousands, of other reviews, their Irish coffee is excellent. It's not too sweet or too bitter, with enough whiskey for just a tiny kick of alcohol, along with a hit of spice. Another person loved the $20 Frozen version with the same whiskey, along with Mr. Black coffee liqueur, cold brew coffee, cane sugar, and cream, and I believe someone else got the fancier Alexander version for $21. Outside of their coffees, there was a mix of other cocktails, including the Doctor's Orders for $21, with Wild Turkey 101 bourbon, Laird's apple brandy, cinnamon, allspice, grapefruit, and lime. I remember trying it as I gave the other person a sip of my drink and enjoying it. The majority of us went with the same $44 Sunday Roast as our main dish. This consisted of a roasted sirloin of beef, bread stuffing, roast potatoes, cauliflower cheese gratin, roasted vegetables, Yorkshire pudding, beef gravy, and horseradish cream. The beef was cooked to my requested temperature, and only a small portion of fat wasn't rendered down properly. However, this wasn't the case for others, with one person's steak in particular having a lot of fat. I partially blame this on the sheer number of orders, but that was unfortunate. The roasted vegetables consisted of carrots and broccoli, and they had a nice char, along with the potatoes. The stuffing was standard, and I liked the unique gratin in particular, as it added an extra texture and saltiness to the dish. The gravy it came with was nice, with some richness and a good beefy flavor, which paired nicely with the Yorkshire pudding and the vegetables. Lastly, I used a small bit of the horseradish, which helped cut the richness. Overall, it was good, but if I had one of the other people's plates, I might have liked it a bit less. This is a tasty place with particularly good cocktails. They have thousands of good reviews for a very good reason. Good luck in DC and Austin as well.

Dante is extremely hot right now, and its popularity leads to some really long wait times. Unable to snag a reservation online, we came here at around 7 pm and put our name down for dinner. We were told there would be a two hour wait! We didn't mind though, and thought it was a good time to hang out at their bar and get some drinks. The bar here is undoubtedly stellar - rated as one of the best in the world and justifiably so. We tried the whiskey buck (pre-mixed and bottled) and the Negroni (on tap), and both were excellent! Strong, tasty and well balanced, and chilled perfectly. We loved these drinks so much we got a couple more rounds as the evening wore on. The bar is lively and packed during peak after-work hours, and the bartenders do well to keep up with the crowds. Ambiance wise the place is super charming and cozy - it's a historically old cafe, and the decor stays on theme with its vintage, rustic elements, dim lighting and classy vibe. The servers were nice but went missing a couple of times during our dinner. The host/owner is really friendly and warm and makes sure to keep all his patrons happy. The food here, as many others have mentioned, is really not that great. We got a couple of pastas - the Gemelli and the Pappardelle. The pasta was homemade and good but the tomato sauce on the pappardelle was acidic and tasted like it came from a grocery store. After the nearly two hour wait for our table, this food was quite a let down. Also, I feel they could manage their tables better, since at one point there were a ton of empty tables but we were still not being seated. I JUST WANT TO SAY. To start this off I have no issues with Dante. The food is so good literally can't stop eating here! I will always order the negroni on tap! Beautiful place with awesome staff! However this will be a 2 part review. I wish Pearl Alley was on here because they are the real reason for the low review. Dante deserves 5 stars. With Pearl Alley I really loved going here but have noticed over the past few visits that the staff here looks anxious and on edge all the time. Typically they usually talk it up and seem to be in a very good mood but something has changed even the atmosphere. A lot of my favorite staff have left and the remaining don't even talk to customers as usual. There's a manager whom I've seen be very hostile towards the staff in-front of customers. He's a big white bald man looks like a former cop and he even looked me up and down after harassing the employee about their break. The employee seemed visibility distraught it changed the whole mood of the place afterwards. Just really love this place and fear for the safety of the staff. I wasn't sure how to go about this but I miss the way this place used to be. Furthermore, the off and on service changes have slowly made this place harder and harder to access in terms of quick and easy to understand house rules for service. My waitress has had a worried expression on at least 3 of my visits when asked for an off menu drink at Negroni bar. Also, the Negronis come out of pre batched bottles, but they cost so much once again I wasn't sure how to approach this I just hope all is well. read more

In the middle of the most European neighborhood of Manhattan, there sits what I probably would call the most European café of them all, a neighborhood joint populated by beautiful patrons who assisted by the not less beautiful staff are sipping amazing cocktails and enjoying the deceptively simple yet perfectly executed fare. Last Friday evening, three ladies, life-long friends who gather at least three times a year to celebrate each other's birthday have decided to grace Dante with their presence, smartly making reservation beforehand as the place was already packed at 6:15 PM. Seated quickly, they ordered burratta, octopus and lamb flat bread followed by porchetta and steak. The names of the drinks they had has not ingrained in their memories, but they were all oh so good and when one friend did not like her drink, a new one was made for her, free of charge. The affable server who sensed that one of the ladies spoke Italian based on her correct pronunciation of the word "sbagliato" (hint, the g is silent), asked if she was Italian and upon hearing "no", a conversation in Italian was struck where the server learned that the lady lived in Italy for 6 months in 1989 during her immigration to the US and the lady learned that the he was 4 years old at the time. He made sure the glasses were filled, the plates were cleaned up and that the ladies enjoyed their food and time at Dante. A five-star experience, nothing less, and sure to become our favorite place. read more

As a visitor to New York, this experience completely changed my impression of this place -- not in a good way. We were sitting at a terrace table and politely asked the server to turn on the heater. We were told it was not possible, even though heaters at other tables were clearly on. When we asked whether the heater at another empty table worked, the server said it probably would not, but that they would check. A different server came shortly after and turned it on immediately. This was not a misunderstanding. It was clear and unequal treatment -- racism. After we posted a review, a woman who appeared to be the owner approached our table, raised her voice at us, and threatened to call the police. We had only taken one sip of our cocktails when she told us to pay immediately and leave. We were forced out. I am not the only one. Multiple reviews here also describe racial discrimination, and many mention extremely rude staff. If you value respect and basic human decency, think twice before coming here. This place may look charming, but the way they treat people tells a very different story. This place made me dislike New York. read more

The magic of New York City is to find a great spot unintentionally. This is one of those places that makes your whole day or visit. It helps that the weather was perfection, but my group felt like we had left NYC and and were at a cafe in Italy. The service was a 10 by Texas standards. IYKYK. So wonderful. Their brunch was lite and felt like a mid day snack, But, very flavorful. We tried the Avocado toast and Burrata toast with a citrus-passionfruit compote. Both delicious. We also happened to be there right in time for their $10 Negroni, daily happy hour. Moving from Texas, I am a BIG fan of a great cocktail for ten bucks! The decrease in price did not lessen the quality of their crafted drinks. Drinks were very balanced in flavor and boozy. All around the quality of the food, drinks and service moves Dante to my number once place to bring friends and family when they visit. I stopped by Dante on Friday evening with some coworkers for drinks and had a good time. This place has a cool Greenwich Village vibe--it feels like an old-school Italian bar but with a modern twist. The Negroni was perfectly balanced and came with a lovely orange peel. We also got the burrata and some olives, which were both fresh and tasty. The bread that came with the burrata was crusty and warm. Even when it got busy later, he kept up with orders and made everything with care. The atmosphere is great, with dim lighting, exposed brick, and Italian music playing in the background. Good because it has energy, but it can be hard to have a conversation when it's packed. The drinks are on the pricier side--my Negroni was $16, which is steep even for NYC. The food was reasonably priced, though, and the quality was there. So here for Dante especially during COVID! Loving the outdoor seating. Feels like you're not in NY but still in NY (especially when the garbage trucks drive by). The cocktails were great as usual, the Salty Dog $15 and my favorite the Grapefruit & Friends $16 are perfect summer drinks. For dinner we had the Burrata with zucchini, chilli, lemon & toasted rye $18 and Pan roasted salmon with broccoli rabe, gigantic beans and chili $27. All was flavorful and perfect portions. This little Italian place used to be so great. I brought my wife here on a Christmas trip and the old owner went down to the basement and brought us up some home made ice cream. We couldn't believe it. So I thought I would give the new revamped version a shot. Not! Hair in my food. I didn't say anything because I am Canadian and I am way too polite for that. There's the rest of the world. And there's Dante. 100 years in Greenwich Village. You can't get that from anywhere else. Stepping into the Dante through its velvet curtains on MacDougal is like stepping into another universe. You're teleported to a place where plates of pasta can sing opera and choices of negronis are written in poetry verses. The best hour for me is 2am on a weekend with a bunch of half-drunk friends hanging around at the backroom corner table, talking about absolutely nothing and everything. read more

Visited with a friend for brunch. Enjoyed the ambiance and drinks, but found the food to be mediocre and too bland for my taste. The service, while acceptable, didn't stand out. My primary concern arose when dealing with the card machine, which "conveniently" defaulted to a 20-30% tip setting. While I typically tip 18% for okay service, 20-25% for good service, and 30% for an excellent service, it made me question whether a 20% tip was justified for service falling into the "okay" category. read more

My type of spot! I loved this place! I came here on a Tuesday evening, so I'm sure it was way quieter than it is on weekends. The price is pretty reasonable at $45 for three courses, especially for the Village, given the pretty generous portions. Our waiter, who I believe was named Fahim, was very friendly, giving people good recommendations and keeping the atmosphere light and inviting while still being professional (top marks all around.) To drink, a bunch of us got cocktails, with most of them being $18 to $20. I went with the decent Rising Star with Desolas mezcal, arak, lime, agave, cinnamon, and star anise. I can definitely taste the smokiness in the mezcal as well as the lime and spices, but I found the anise flavor a bit too light for my liking, and would probably try the Cantarito instead next time. Other people enjoyed the Spirit Bird and Tokyo Drive. Prior to the meal, they gave us two types of bread with some olive oil. I wish the bread was warm, but it was good quality otherwise. My appetizer of choice was the classic Vitello Tonnato, with slow roasted veal, tonnato sauce, and crispy capers. It's a cold veal dish I've had before and liked, but it isn't super common on menus. The tender veal had a refreshing flavor from the tonnato, and there was a bit of zing on the plate from some pickled onion. This was the smallest of the appetizers, but the portion was still decent enough with four pieces of flavorful veal. I tried a bit of someone else's very large Lolla Rosa Salad, with said red lettuce, watermelon, watermelon radish, mint, roasted pistachios, and lemon dressing. The dressing was light, and there was a nice mix of textures, from the crunchy radish and pistachios to the sweet, crunchy yellow watermelon. Otherwise, a couple of others enjoyed the excellent-looking Burrata, and one person enjoyed the $5 extra Fritto Misto. As my main dish, I went with one of their pastas. My choice was the Bucatini Limone e Gamberi with homemade lemon bucatini, Montauk shrimp, Meyer lemon, and imported butter. The pasta had a nice texture, while the bouncy shrimp added a touch of sweetness. However, the lemon flavor was a tad lighter than I expected, so overall, I enjoyed it, but it wasn't my favorite of this style. A few of us also split the Charred Corn for $15, or $18 on the check, with Pecorino Romano and Calabrian chili. Aside from the price mismatch, I liked the flavor a lot, as it reminded me a bit of esquites. The chili flavor was a bit light, and it didn't have the sour component I usually associate with said dish, but I still liked it, and it was delicious when added to the pasta. In terms of other people, one person devoured the rather smaller portion of Agnolotti Cacio E Pepe, and one person had the Black Seabass. People overall enjoyed their food with minor complaints about saltiness. The dessert choice was between cannoli and gelato, and their association with the excellent Pamina nearby made the choice very easy. As with the others, I went with the Pistachio Gelato, which was silky and smooth, with plenty of pistachio, or rather "pistacchio." I was also happy that it wasn't overly sweet either. I have had their gelato before, and this was excellent, as always. The other choices were chocolate gelato or a sorbet choice of either lemon, I believe, or strawberry. After talking a while longer, we soon got the check. This is a tasty Italian spot with a good Restaurant Week Meal. If the service was only adequate, I would probably rate this closer to a four, as the pasta was a bit less notable than at some other places in the area, but our waiter made our experience that much better.

And all of the staff were very personable, friendly, and attentive. Special shoutouts to Nora, Eric, and Alex for making us feel welcomed and appreciated, from the moment we stepped in the door to the gracious goodbyes. We tried two of the icebox cocktails (what's brunch without a full-blown day-drinking extravaganza?) to go along with our meal: the amaro Manhattan and olive oil martini. Both were delightful takes on their namesakes. Also, before our first course arrived, we were graced with some complimentary focaccia and olive oil. I believe the olive oil is available for purchase -- it's the good stuff. We started off with a pistachio kataifi: a crispy, wispy delight that reminded me a bit of knafeh. I'd definitely order this again the next time I'm back for brunch. We also enjoyed the potato and taleggio ravioli featuring seasonal ramps, and the Ellie's burger with Egyptian fries. I appreciate a proper medium rare burger (too often, they're overcooked, no matter what doneness you request) and this one nailed it. The real star of the show, however, was the side of garlic-chili shatta... a spicy condiment that's dangerously addictive and goes with pretty much everything. It's 100% worth the nominal cost and you'll handily consume all of it. We concluded our meal with a seasonally appropriate rhubarb parfait that struck an effortless balance between decadence and tartness. I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't too sweet. Leon's delivers a polished, elegant dining experience without tipping over into stuffiness. Each dish is dialed in. The approachable, human front-of-house team simply seals the deal. This is a standout of an establishment, even in a neighborhood rife with competition. I look forward to many returns.

The baguette had a good crust, while the cherry gastrique added some sourness and sweetness. It was a nice pair and a fun miniature spin on a cheeseboard. My main dish was the Bucatini Baczynsky for $28, which is their spin on Bucatini all'Amatriciana with smoked bacon from said Polish meat market instead of guanciale. The pasta had a decent texture and clung nicely to the pasta sauce, which had a bit of heat. The bacon added a wonderful smokiness, while the bits of caramelized onions added a nice extra sweetness. The only complaint was that it was perhaps a bit too salty, but I liked the flavor overall, which I'm not surprised about, as I like smoked meats a lot. Overall, it was a satisfying meal. It's not a spot I'd go out of my way to back to, but it's hard to complain otherwise.
