Had my first couples massage experience here and it was magical. I booked the appointment through Groupon as a surprise gift for my bfs bday. He got off work late and I thought I would have to cancel, but the receptionist went out of her way to rearrange her appointment book and still squeezed us in. This place is great! I was able to make same day appointment for a Friday night for me and my boyfriend. Our therapist focused on the areas we needed the most. I love the fact that the have a mini survey for the therapist to review before the massage. My therapist went a little deeper than I can handle I mentioned it to her and she adjusted the pressure. The staff is amazing-- I was early for the appointment for a 60 min combo Thai/Swedish massage and they were able to get me in early, which was cool. The spa itself is really nicely decorated and clean, with nice lighting and music. Everyone who works there is incredibly nice and accommodating. Took an appointment 1 week earlier and they changed my time 4 times. I request a specific terapist and she forgot my appointment. I'm sure thar girl that did the massage to me doesn't do this for job, 1h of put the oil on my body...after asking few times to do some kind of massage that actually I can feel at least her fingers,she kept doing whatever she want. Pros: I was gifted this experience and for the cost it was great. The masseuse did a fine job. I have no complaints with her. She was professional and wasn't awkward when it came to nudity. 'the flip' is always the awkward moment during massages and she held the towel up and kept it respectable. Cons: My appointment was set for 11 and I wasn't back in the room until 11:30. The rooms aren't private, but the walls don't go all the way up so you can hear people in other rooms. That affected my ability to relax. Hearing them open and close doors made me think they were entering my room and it made me uncomfortable. But once I realized it was just the people in the room next door I was able to calm down. I recommend a 60 minute massage. Given the cons, I would say you would need that time to relax yourself so you can enjoy it. read more

My boyfriend got a Groupon deal for a 60 minute couples massage. It was for a Swedish and Thai massage. I checked out the reviews and everything looked good! Now, a bit of a warning when you drive here, the area looks a bit sketch. There's graffiti, it's next to the freeway and a few suspect characters on the sidewalks as we drove near. Dara is very nice inside and is a bit small. It looked like there was only 1 couple massage room and maybe 4 other massage rooms? It smelled so nice inside upon walking in, already relaxing. There was only one lady at the front desk and no one else to be seen and I was wondering who would be massaging both of us. I didn't catch the lady's name but she wasn't all that friendly. She ended up being my masseuse and never asked if I had any problem areas or back problems, good thing I don't but still she didn't even bother to ask. My bf's masseuse did ask him as I overheard her. The massage was good, I don't like it too hard and she had the right amount of pressure. My boyfriend on the other hand said his was really hard and at points almost painful but he took it (it was his first massage and didn't know if that's what it's supposed to feel like). I kept hearing the lady asking him if it was okay and to relax. I guess him saying ok she went as hard as she could on him. I heard a lot of bone popping on his side and slapping so from my side it sounded painful while I was relaxed! He seemed to enjoy the massage experience overall though. Now this was my first Thai massage and I think it might be my last. I don't really like being thrown and stretched around like a rag doll. I just want to be massaged not stretched out, but it was definitely a good experience. I just wish they would warn you a bit more. She told me to hold my hands behind then she wrapped her legs around me, swayed me a bit then boom threw me down and every spine on my back I think cracked one by one! Immediately after the massage I had this sharp pain in my back. It wasn't excruciating but very uncomfortable like I needed to crack my back back to normal. After some awkward back bending and walking I was able to readjust and the discomfort went away after about an hour. Overall the massage was really nice and relaxing. I'd just skip the Thai massage portion (stretching and odd positions) and focus on massaging out my knots more and a body massage. read more

The massage I've received was great, good pressure. My BF's MT was great. The MT I had kept chewing on candy and made it a little uneasy to relax, quite annoying actually. It's in a quiet, rural neighborhood deep in koreatown, next to a questionable laundry matt, but the moment you walk in to the place, you are taken into a whole new place. It's quiet and serene and has a tranquil vibe when entering. I had an hour massage and added hot stones and had such a relaxing time. All my muscles were stretched out and I was truly relaxed afterwards. My only complaint was that the hole where you rest your face in smelled funky and I had trouble breathing because I wasn't getting enough air circulation. I hope maybe with the attraction of more customers they can upgrade their tables or just make an effort to sanitize them better. We finally got the time to go to Dara spa to try the services they offered. We got the Swedish-Thai combo. It was a good massage but I felt hanging on cause I thought there will be a head massage, I dont know if we just really had the body massage and the head not included but as my experience they do it as the last part of the massage routine. I was also getting a couples massage with my boyfriend who has had a thai massage before in Thailand, and he said this was A fusion of a tie and American massage people our masseuses literally got on top of the table and put their entire body weight on our bodies. The spa itself is very modest and rather run down but I am here for the treatment that environment is rather insignificant for a low price spa that offer what you really need--Pain relief and structural-posture realignment. Her foot can be painful at times but it is just what my body needs after stressful and tense muscle that yearns for knots to be untied with all her weight. What a joke! The woman who was massaging me had brought her cell phone into our session and within the first 5 minutes her phone rang loudly. While attempting to stay calm I told myself it was probably just an accident. She then immediately turned her phone to vibrate and I took some relief in the idea that the massage would not be interrupted again. I was so wrong... Her phone vibrated 2 additional times AND she picked up both calls!! On the last call she chatted on the phone with one hand while rubbing me half assed with the other. I WAS PHENOMENAL! i was assigned to a wonderful woman called M and she knew every muscle in my body and which one to focus on in my back. there was a knot that i've just been living with because there was no other way to get rid of it besides an expensive massage but Dara Spa is completely affordable and that knot is being dealt with. the Thai massage (dry stretching) was everything i've been missing and the Swedish massage (oil massage to attack knots) was exactly what i've been needing. they've found a repeat customer in me for sure. Make sure you have to make an appointment before you go! I don't think there were too many customers when I got there so I was helped right away. There were many rooms at the small facility. The rooms were all really nice and clean. There are private rooms! The ambience was really nice with the dimmed lighting, quietness, and soft music playing in the background. I had the 60 minute Thai Swedish full body massage combo. I didn't catch the name of my massuist but she was great! Her elbows really dug into my tight spots. I definitely had to concentrate on my breathing for some parts. She helped crack my back which was awesome since I have a really tight back. The hour seemed to have flew by! I called last Wednesday to make a reservation for a couples massage, which was supposed to be a birthday treat. I scheduled for this past Sunday at 10a. I am always timely to my appointments so right at 10a, I attempt to enter the building and the door is still closed. It remained closed until 10:25a when I decided to leave. The place should not offer appointments outside of the scheduled open hours. I should have questioned it. I will give them another chance and make another review after the actual service. Wow! Wow wow! I am a dentist and my shoulders, back and neck are always in pain. Jamie had a lot of tricks up his sleeves to help alleviate those tight areas. You don't really need to point out specifically to those spots because he will find them and provide just the right amount of pressure. I found this place on Groupon and was quoted a price of $73 dollars. When I came in they said it was $79 dollars. They talked to the manager and gave me my quoted price. They did not answer their phone. But I left a message and they called me back two hours later. Unfortunately the day of there were some problems. They double booked and moved my appointment an hour. It didn't ruin my Sunday. But they felt so bad they gave us free hot stone. My masseuse was amazing! I'm not sure what massage we had but it was definitely a combo. It started with pressure all over my limbs and torso. She literally crawled on me and used the palms of her hands to press down on me and try to pop my back. Then she used oil and massaged my whole body. Afterwards she used hot stone. She wiped me down with hot towels. Then flipped me over and rubbed my neck with aromatherapy oil. After she gave me a scalp massage. Then she stretched me. It was a very full and complete massage. My boyfriend and I were very grateful and refreshed afterwards.
