Dara Thai has been my favorite for thirty years! I moved away ten years ago and while visiting for business, I could not wait to get there for dinner! I got there at 5:30 pm, and sat myself as the sign requested. There were quite a few tables available, but they had not been bussed, which seemed weird because it wasn't that busy. I sat in the only clean one around, then waited 25 minutes (I know because I checked my watch) before anyone even acknowledged me. A waitress finally approached and ran to get me a menu, and a young man came up behind her to take my order. I hadn't even opened the menu yet. He asked if I wanted anything to drink so I asked for a glass of Pinot Noir, and water. The water came right away, along with the request for my order. I wanted one entree to eat there, and one for take-out. I quickly ordered and he hurried off. Fifteen minutes later a different young man came with my glass of Pinot. I took a sip, and almost gagged. It was like fermented grape juice, it was awful. I tried again, still disgusting so I pushed the full glass to the other edge of the table. The young man came then with my dining order: pineapple curry with chicken. I was still excited to eat great Thai food, and opted to just drink water. I asked for a napkin, utensils, and more water. He hurried off. I tasted a few bites with the large serving spoon since that's all I had, and it was SO SALTY! I mean, really really salty. I dumped some of the rice into the dish hoping to cut the salt a bit, to no avail. Still no utensils, no napkin, no water, and I waited. I finally walked out at 6:45 pm without eating, or drinking since no one ever came back to the table. Ever. I'm still in shock. That dinner was to be the highlight of my business trip. read more

After our initial choice in restaurant wasn't taking any customers until late so we walked down the street and luckily found this restaurant. I love the entire setup of this restaurant. There very much a Thai charm from the mini dress sale in the dining room to the umbrellas on the ceiling. The service could have been a little faster initially. We got sat down and no one came to take our orders for a bit. The service did eventually get better as we began to get our food. We had the friend rice with chicken, chicken satay, broccoli beef, and pad thai with tofu, and a wonton soup with seafood. Everything was prepared fresh and tasted delicious! My favorite of the many items were the fried rice and the chicken satay. The soup could have been better. Overall, it was a great visit and a solid choice for dinner. Went on a day trip to flagstaff for Christmas yesterday and this one of the few places that was open so I went here to get take out for lunch! I ordered green curry with tofu. It was ready a little later than expected but not significantly later! It was pretty busy. My food was a tiny bit bland and salty but not bad, I liked that they definitely didn't skimp on the tofu. I think I'd order something else next time but am glad I tried it! read more

My husband and I had an early dinner here at 5:30 on a Wednesday. The college was probably on summer break. The menu is quite extensive. We ordered pineapple curry with chicken, plus battered orange chicken. The chicken curry was decent. The orange chicken had a very thick coating of batter. Some of the pieces were so large you had to cut them with your fork, since no knife was provided. The food overall was a 4, maybe a 3. The restaurant has lots of seating and a decent ambiance. The service was adequate but a bit lackadaisical. I rate the service a 3. We had to track down the server to pay our bill, even though the restaurant was not busy. The restaurant is located south of the tracks near the train station. There is a convenient paid parking lot at the train station, plus probably some free on the street parking. The place itself is super cute and great vibes. The food?! THE FOOD WAS AMAZINGGGGG, I had the yellow curry with chicken. Potstickers and ginger tea. Absolutely delicious, every single bite and drink. 10/10 recommend. The one serving was 15-16$ but it's enough to take home leftovers and have a second meal. Will be coming back for sure. read more

we waited for 30min at entrance bar/lobby to get a table for 3. After getting a table we again waited for 30min to get food. we informed the waiter to make sure that food should not include any mushrooms as we were allergic but food had mushrooms in yellow curry and fried rice and food was too salty. tasted only 1spoon and immediately informed them that we cant eat it due to allergy but all they said is just a "sorry" and charged us full bill. What an awful place!! Worst Thai food i have ever had! Please avoid. Go instead to Pato Thai. How can one mess up a Tom Yum soup. If was lacking in punch and oil was floating on top. Then came the drunken noodles. So bland, dry, and served with long rice noodles instead of the flat rice noodles were are used to, which in itself might have been fine off the dish was tasty. Then the eggplant with basil, oh what a disaster!! Not even sure what the heck the brown sauce was, I think it was some adobo sauce, lol!!! Anyways.. please avoid this place! read more

We went to Dara Thai because of a local friend's recommendation. It was a cold night and I wanted something with soup and little spice to warm me up so my boyfriend and I agreed on Thai food. He got the pad thai and said it was amazing! He mentioned that the fact that they kept the vegetables separate from the rest of the dish was the best. I got the Panang curry, served in a huge bowl with a side of white rice. It was just ok. I had Panang curry at a different Thai restaurant in Flagstaff and I prefer that better than Dara Thai's. I also got a Thai tea with boba it was meh. What made the experience though was our waiter. He was great - recommended the right beer, asked the spice level, checked on us at the opportune moments... He deserves 5 stars! But the food was very meh that I have to leave 3 for now. read more

The hostess was nice to seat us down really quick BUT whoever was assigned as our waitress/waiter never came to our table. Me and my party waited almost 30 minutes given the benefit of the doubt maybe thinking it was short staffed but when we saw that there was a couple if people seated and there was three staff walking around looking like they got nothing to do. Dara Thai has some of the best curry in town. I love the red curry soup, the green curry and another dish called the evil jungle princess. Pad Thai is also a treat, and the spice level of all of these dishes is adjustable to your taste. Still great after all these years, you should try Dara Thai. read more

We walked over from the Du Beau and were so delighted with what we found at Dara Thai! It was mysteriously smokey when we arrived, but it just made for delicious smelling clothes ‍ All the food was scrumptious and our server was so friendly! The Woon Sen soup with medium spicy was incredible and good for clearing sinuses. The Tom Ka hotpot was as delicious and fun in the flaming chimney bowl. read more

Unexpected goodness! We were actually going across the street to the brewery but the wait was an hour. We were so hungry and just decided to walk over to this place. All but one dish was truly amazing! There weren't a lot of people there which initially worried me and the reviews are hit or miss. My expectations were low. I was so pleasantly surprised at how good these dishes were! The Pad Thai was pretty good. The Pad See Ew was the best I've ever had and the Yellow Curry was fantastic. The only dish that wasn't good was the Drunken Noodles. They were dry and flavorless. Service was ok, a little slow but it did start to get busy as we were there. Overall, it was great! read more

There are several good Thai restaurants in Flagstaff and this is not one of them. I forgot how lackluster this place is. I ordered delivery. $52 for pad thai panag curry and fried tofu. The food portions were SMALL. In fact the small rice container was only 3/4 full. This was not enough for the curry. The fried tofu was soft tofu cut into big chunks and deep fried. It was disgusting! The fryer oil is all I could taste and it was rancid. The oil was way past due for a change. I called to complain and the lady offered to give me a refund for the rice. I told her to keep the money for the rice and I would return my gratitude by never giving them my business again and I hope you do the same. There are much better options in Flagstaff. This place has always dissapointed me and now I remember why. read more

Such a great find! Stumbled upon this place when wandering through Flagstaff and I'm so glad I did. They had an extensive menu with plenty of options, including tons of vegetarian options. They also have great lunch specials. Happy hour is from 4pm-6pm. I had Pad Thai, which was sweeter than other Pad Thai's I've had, BUT I think it was the best Pad Thai I've had! Even the lunch portion was a good size and it came out very quickly. This place is just a few streets over from the main downtown streets of Flagstaff, which makes it a hidden gem. My husband and I have Thai food at least once a month. We were excited to try Dara Thai on our weekend visit to Flagstaff. We ordered the sample plate and it was not impressive. The only good flavor from that was the cucumber salad. The peanut sauce was watered down and bland and the rest was soggy , microwaved tasting items. Then we ordered the Tom Ka soup with chicken and it was bland , off tasting. We immediately let them know and they only took half off the soup. Awful costumer service. We understand and appreciate small businesses but this was a huge bummer for us to have to leave a review. read more

Went there for lunch and got the green curry. Started off well but then I found a hair in my food. I told my server immediately that I found the hair and was very sick. she asked if I wanted the cook to make me a new plate. I declined because I was disgusted and lost my appetite, after vomiting in the restroom from this hair finding. She then disappeared without ever returning and had some random guy deliver our tab without any type of discount or even an apology. So no discount of any type of accountability. I went here with a group of friends during lunch time and they were clearly understaffed. Unless you ordered the pad thai, every other dish on the menu was awful, bland, and oily. I ordered the drunken noodles which looked like the only seasoning added on them was chili flakes. Affordable menu with LOTS of meal options. I tried the Duck Curry and it was very flavorful; however, the slices of duck meat had the skin on and it made for very gelatinous, unappetizing bites. I ended up pulling the skin off every piece of meat. We also had some Pad Thai, it was just your average Pad Thai. Bunch of options on the menu which is great and the staff is accommodating and helpful, but the food was just abysmal (Drunken Noodles). The noodles had a strong garlic and basil aroma and the noodles tasted like plastic. I was leaning towards a 3, but additionally, it was kind of dark and bright in some areas which is strange. This is kinda difficult to write, since I did like SOME of the food. I ordered the cream cheese puffs and the Eggplant Basil. The cheese puffs were great, however the Eggplant was severely lacking. First of all, I asked the lady on the phone how hot their "5" was on their scale from 1-5. She said very hot, so I got a 4. This "4" was not hot at all. And here I was, assuming the 5 was "thai" hot. 4 is mild, so I can only assume the 5 is like a regular amount of heat. Beyond that, THE FOOD IS SWIMMING IN OIL. I've never seen anything more oily in my entire life, and I grew up on home cooked Afghan food. When I first got this, the oil was over half an inch, the pictures I attached are of the left overs I decided not to eat after consuming about 1000 calories in oil. It quite literally costs your entire mouth just by eating a bite. Extremely unappetizing to just be eating straight cooked oil. I thought perhaps the orange color came from the use of chili paste, but no. It's just all OIL. Furthermore, when I got to the resturant an hour before close, there was absolutely no one to be seen. I rang their little bell and no one came, all while I was staring at my prepared food behind the counter (called in for pick up). Then I yelled "HELLO?" very loudly and a girl on her phone eating a bowl of soup came from the kitchen. Overall not a fun experience, except for the cheese puffs. Will not be returning. read more

Staff were friendly. Decor was lovely. The restaurant was clean. Prices were reasonable. There were lots of items to choose from on the menu, including vegetarian options. I've reviewed Dara Thai before but felt it was worth updating because we just got takeout from here since the shut downs. I called to place our order and while it took a couple tries to get through (3 tries) once I did my order was taken and repeated perfectly and it was quoted only 20 minutes for pickup! I got there and Thai was a popular choice that night for take out but the girl working the counter was quick and efficient in getting food handed out to the patrons. The food, as always, was delicious, even after the car ride home and the generous portions allowed us to have a tasty lunch the next day too. highly recommend Dara Thai now and always. read more

Didn't know what to expect. Seated fast without reservation on a holiday, like that!! Waitress nice and informative kept us updated on our food. Very busy on the holidays just so you know. Be prepared; they make your food as you ask for it so the wait could be long depending on how many people are dining. Food was delicious and you can ask for how spicy you want your food. I asked for a 5 and was not disappointed. Delicious and didn't loose the taste. My food was on a curry section #58 with chicken and the rice instead of been jasmati rice was just steam rice( not disappointed) but would have loved for them to tell me. You cannot fool me on the rice. The only thing I will have to pick on it was the beer it was warm. Not my favourite. read more

Didn't care for the food at all. My go to is yellow curry with chicken and potatoes when I try a Thai restaurant for the first time. My thought process is, "this is a staple dish, so I'm safe". Not in this case. Their curry didn't have the rich flavor, or thick broth you would expect. It was watery, and not tasty at all. We also tried the fried calamari, crispy shrimp, and Tom yum soup.
