Lunch here is consistently good. I always get Ginger Chicken, and the lunch specials come with either soup or salad. We always opt for the soup. It's yummy, and hot. My husband gets curry, and it is very good. A nice addition is $1 Kamikaze shots. read more

This was a late night gem! We drove into Flagstaff for a soccer tournament but arrived kind of late. By the time we checked into the hotel and freshened up, we didn't feel like going out. So, we looked up Uber Eats. Apparently the service doesn't exist in Flagstaff. So, we called the restaurant directly. Very friendly hostess! Promptly took our order and explained sides and suggested additions. I had the Pad Thai and it was phenomenal! Very generous serving with ample chicken and just the right amount of sprouts as to not overpower the dish. We also ordered some curry with spice on the side. Overall, food was terrific! We were considering not going here because the reviews are all over the place , but so glad we did! This place was really good. I got #36 " shrimp in a pot " and my gf got the Chicken with noodles and both were fantastic! I originally ordered the Asian pear mojito, and was not a fan. Our server , Seth, was so awesome and took it back and got me a beer no charge! We ordered fried bananas to start, then tom ka soup, pad Thai x 2, evil jungle princess (red curry), lard na noodles, and won ton soup with shrimp. Where do I even start? The server did not get our drinks until we asked twice for them. She never brought or remembered the appetizer we ordered. The food was very bland, arrived cold, mine said brown sauce, no brown sauce was in the dish, it was just discolored water. The eggplant curry dish was too thick and the eggplant were so over cooked they were flat. The vegetables were over cooked. And no amount of soy sauce could could fix any of our 5 dishes. I thought this place was OK. For being a Thai place in Flagstaff it was OK. I really can't say too much about it because I thought everything was sort of just OK. I can't go over board on the service and food, but the whole experience was just again OK. I did hear that there were some other Thai places that were better than this here, but this one was the closest to where we were. I probably won't go back, but if I wanted some Thai food because the other places were busy then I'd go here. Maybe it's just me but I'm used to a little bit more taste with my Thai. Our family of 8 ate here this week and loved our dishes: Pad Thai, Massaman curry chicken, Three Kings Curry, etc. Sauces were rich and full of flavor (not watery), spice level was customized, chicken was tender and the fresh spinach in the sauce of a few of our dishes was a nice touch. Attentive service--wish I knew his name--he was fairly new but so polite and responsive. Some creative craft cocktails (there's a iced tea drink with dark rum that's great). Not my favorite Thai place. I've eaten many Thai food places and I would not rank this up high at all. The pad see ewe had no flavor and was kind of bland tasting. The fried rice tastes like rice thrown in with some garlic. Not very much flavor in it all. Felt like I was eating garlic rice. We came here because my boyfriend raved about it and said it was better than the ones we have eaten in Vegas. Booooo. What a disappointment. Sadly gone downhill. This used to be the only place in town to eat Thai food because it was that good. Went there at 430 on a Saturday. Two servers sitting at a front table watching TikTok videos on their phones. We were the only people there. Server never came over once to see if we needed anything, hair sat back down and watched her phone. The pineapple rice was supposed to be med hot. Instead not a hint of heat in the dish. The cook couldn't be bothered to chop up the cashew nuts, which were dumped to the side of the dish, whole. The salad #21 yum yai came on a bed of bagged salad. Two shrimp on the whole plate. Another excellent Dara Thai Lunch. My favorite thing about Dara Thai over the years is the deliciousness of the Tom Ka Gai (Red coconut milk curry soup). Today I split a large serving with my 20 yr old son. The soup is my favorite from the menu, just the right balance of hot and sweet and savory. I love the chicken and we always add rice, making the large serving a full meal for two or an appetizer for four of us when my husband and older son join us. The chef offers spiciness from 1 to 5, and over the years we've worked our way up from 0. Today we had a 4 and it was delightful! You need to be wary of the large cut spices including lemongrass and dried ginger and other mysterious and tough leaves and twigs. Overall, the food is OK but seems expensive for the price. This place is large enough for decent sized parties but intimate enough for a date night. Parking can be difficult in this area of flagstaff -- might have to park in the surrounding neighborhood if you can't find street parking. Service was fairly quick, even during rush dinner hours. I had a duck in red curry (~$15) medium spicy. It was OK but the portion seemed a bit small. The medium heat was not as hot as I would expect from the Thai place so if you can handle Siracha hot sauce you can handle medium at this place easily. read more

My first experience with Thai food and it was a great one! We called ahead and they reserved a table of 5 plus a baby for us and we were promptly seated when we arrived. Our waitress was great and attentive. For appetizers we ordered 2 orders of cream cheese wontons which were absolutely phenomenal, creamy and crunchy and my mouth salivates while just thinking about them and just the right amount of crunch with the perfectly paired sweet and sour sauce and an order of fresh spring rolls which were crisp and delicious paired with brown sauce that kicked them up a notch. For my entree I ordered the drunken noodles with chicken (1 on the spicy, since I'm a newbie) and enjoyed every bite. The noodles were fat and scrumptious, chicken cooked perfectly and just the right amount included and lots of fresh veggies and basil that were cooked just enough so they weren't soggy and still had a crisp to them. Definitely a great first timers meal. I loved everything I tried from my girlfriends' choices, I was lucky to try two spice level of pad thai and will definitely be ordering that the next time we visit (which will be often). After an extensive Yelp search I choose Dara because they can accommodate gluten free people. The Pad Thai was sticky. From what I could tell, the flavor was decent but there was so little sauce that I'm not really sure. My husband had the pork & shrimp fried rice and said it was lacking in flavor. It looked like they didn't use much soy sauce when making his dish. We both have leftovers and I'm positive while reheating the Pad Thai will become even more sticky. If you have been putting off returning to this old stand by, it is time to return! I have been dining here for over a decade, but took a hiatus, post renovations after reading disheartening reviews. Guess what? After 3 recent trips, the food is still SO delicious and my husband is addicted! I continue to love the Dara Tofu (fried), 3 Kings Curry, the flaming soups, spicy (vegetarian) wontons, crab wontons and Thai toast. My husband loves every dish he has tried, which include seafood, duck, pineapples and etc.. We visited recently with a one year old. The fat baby and his parents were treated well, and the waitress anticipated needs before they became urgent. (ie: moved all glasses away from child and brought a to-go cup of water.) We were well cared for. Why only 4 stars, when I pine after the coconut cashew curry so deeply? Same complaint as always.: there is no consistency to the heat of the 1-5 scale. Sometimes 4 is really a 4 and other times it is a 1. I have noticed this at other Thai restaurants in Flag. I cope by asking the waitress if the chef of the day is a wuss with spices, and adjust my spice number accordingly. I have tried a couple mojito's and have been disappointed both times, but the Thai Iced Tea and Thai Iced Coffee still rule. They have a large menu to include many vegetarian offerings. While my Marine is able to eat his entire portion, I always am able to take half of mine home. It is always delicious the next day. I would give a 4.5 if able.
