My husband and I bought a used Cadillac SRX from them in July 2018. Within a month it started having big problems. It went to the dealership to be fixed. They gave me a rental car. I got it back after about a month. Then it wasn't working properly again less than 2 days later. Back to the dealership it went and back in another rental. I will say the Lexus NX rental I had at this point was really nice. They had the SRX for 2 more months and couldn't fix it. The service department was extremely disappointing. The service advisor never called to update us, was never available and no one knew what was going on with it. I expect communication if I'm paying for the repairs or not. There was none. I also do not expect to be in a rental that long when I bought a car for a reason. It got to the point that I called Lexus Headquarters. Communication improved ever so slightly. At this point, we asked for a buy back (they called it a trade in), however, they took it back at the full price we initially purchased the vehicle for. We agreed to purchase a second vehicle from them off of any of the DARCARS lots and pay the differencWe bought a used Volvo XC90 in November 2018. At the time of all of this, we were charged a second $300 processing fee (already paid it 3 months earlier) and they told us they would transfer the license plates from the SRX to the XC90. They put the SRX license plates on the Volvo for us. I got a call about two weeks ago saying we had plates in. I told the lady we had plates on the car and that they should have been transferred. I was confused. I asked her to look into it and call back. I never heard from them. I forgot about it. I called the MDOT today to find out why I hadn't received the title. Our bank called at the 30 day mark because they are still not listed as the Lien holder. MDOT said they just received the payment December 30, 2018. It would be another 4-6 weeks to get it. I then asked her out of curiosity about the plates. I read the plates on my car to her. She then told me those were illegal and not registered to the Volvo. It was still registered to the SRX. I called the dealership to find out what the heck is going on because at this point my dissatisfaction and trust in this company is at a zero. Chris said the plates were there and showing up in their system but he'd need to find them. I said I would come get them but needed him to have them in his hand before I drove 30-45 minutes with a 1 year old. He offered to over night the plates to me. We will see what happens. I'd prefer not to drive to the dealership with the illegal plates. This whole experience has been disappointing. I appreciate them trying to make it right but the ball has been dropped so many times at this point that I will never purchase a car from their dealership again. I do want to praise Ali, our salesman, because he was the shining star in all of this. He was honest and trustworthy. If he works at a different dealership in the future, we would 100% work with him again. I'd give him 5 stars. read more

A few month later, brought in car(purchased somewhere else!) for a scheduled service and no greeting or eye contact at the desk while waiting there. Got a quote on labor for installing door edge guard ($300 plus versus $75 fixed elsewhere). Now, I rather drive 15 more minutes and get my service done at another dealer and all good experience so far. What the hell? This place used to run smoothly. How is it that I scheduled a navigation upgrade for 7:30a.m.-7: 45 a.m, was here before time ( 7: 20 a.m.) and told it would be about and hour and a half and I'm still sitting here at 10:14 a.m.? I went back to talk to the tech that I'm supposed to be working with and he told me they should be finishing up soon? Its almost 3 hours later for a navigation upgrade. I told him I'm gonna need a loaner in a little bit. Its almost half a work day later. Hell in an hour and a half it will be lunch time. Ive seen people that came in here after me leave already. Im going to find another Lexus dealer to go to instead of this place. I don't care how far it is. This is unacceptable and they knew how long this would take. This is why I barely come up here unless I really need to. 3 hours for a navigation upgrade though? I'll just say that we should really have no business buying a car from a Lexus dealer, but they happened to have a good deal on an SUV, of a make/model that is, let's just say, 'beneath them.' Regardless, we were treated with the utmost respect and service throughout the process. They get 4 of 5 stars as there were a couple small things w the car that were not ideal and they couldn't help us with, but they were extremely helpful in providing service and assistance to us for the big things. ...and always with a smile and while being polite. DARCARS will submit your warranty claim for reimbursement AFTER you trade in your vehicle. DARCARS will submit your safety recall in for reimbursement without addressing the safety recall. DARCARS will falsify documents stating they performed work on your vehicle they did not perform. These problems are not tied to an individual at DARCARS. These problems are organizational. It has been an interesting past few months. I brought my vehicle in to the Lexus of Silver Spring due to a power down and banging noise. While in their possession, they fixed a safety recall on my vehicle. Looking back, while I would have preferred to receive a call or something letting me know this was addressed, I can appreciate that they noticed it and did something. Safe travels mean the world to me and their service department lived up to that. Here we are months later and the transaxle unit, is still causing me grief. The management team of the DarCars of Silver Spring after reviewing my situation seem to be making their best effort to get me back on the road again. After months of renting cars, Ubering the kids to school and extra curricular activities, paying a car note for a vehicle I could not use, taking days off work when I could not afford to Uber myself to work....I have a new patch of gray hairs whose entire existence are due solely to the stress of these situation. It could've been worse, but somehow I know moving forward with the team at DarCars is the right thing to do. THE WORST service ever. I purchase a new vehicle in July 2015, and was pressured to purchase the additional packages (5 year tire/wheel, etc.) to "keep my vehicle in top working condition". The financial advisor selling me the package assured that if I were to sell my car in the meantime, the package costs would be prorated and returned to me. I sold my car in May 2017 and filed a cancellation for the packages on May 25, 2017. Swaiz Khan is the best salesperson I have ever encountered. I just have to say... because in the last 14 months, I visited at least two dozen dealerships and visited with even more salesmen. Each time, each salesman either left me feeling like they were trying to swindle me or they were simply unable to give me a car option that I was looking for. Swaiz not only found me the car I wanted, it was really clear he wasn't out to swindle me. The same goes for the management here! Swaiz really accommodates the needs of his customers. He doesn't show an ulterior motive like most car salesmen and doesn't suddenly flip the script on you after they're done being nice, again, like most salesmen. He'll do everything he can to help you to the best of his abilities. And the rest of the staff at Darcars is absolutely amazing. I was really stunned by the way the manager, Andreas, handled our interactions. At the Lindsay Lexus dealership, the salesman brought over the manager and the manager aggressively tried to tell me what I wanted. He got in my face and tried to convince me what I wanted wasn't actually what I wanted. Andreas was certainly more human and down to earth. After called over 30 times, there was either no one respond and finally the manager said the plates would send overnight. But still not get is after 3 days! I went here to trade my older Lexus in for a new one. The process with the sales person was normal, as in any car dealership. I then dealt with the finance person, and that's when everything went downhill. I traded my old car in, put $2000 down, and signed the paper work. About a month later, I had not received my tags or finance paper work in the mail. I called them back and the finance person said he did not even process my loan yet. He said he will not do it until I put another $8000 down. I asked him about my trade in, and he said that had not been paid off to my old bank yet. This is 10 days after my payment was due, and I was late for the first time in my life. I told him I'm not putting another $8000 down, and I want my trade in back. He then changed his story, told me the loan is approved, and had me come in and sign a different set of paper work. Anyway after everything, I got my tags and loan paper. What they did was illegal, switching the loan like that. I contacted a federal agency (forgot the name), and reported the dealership. I also contacted the FBI describing the events. This was fraud and I was not going to deal with it. Now I'm writing to you all to let you know. Save yourself a headache, go to Lexus of Rockville. Those guys are the best. I have gone round and round with any number of people from finance to DARCARS customer service, GM, PreOwned Sales Manager, Red Carpet Manager on and on. I have also contacted 7 On Your Side, BBB, the Consumer Affairs Dept/MD Attorney General. My car is still in the previous owner's name and no word on my trade in tag transfer. I drive around with the purchase paperwork in the car in case I get pulled over. Not only will I never deal with this Lexus dealership I will go out of my way to never buy from any DARCARS dealership and spread my story far and wide. I was once a loyal customer but no longer. Lexus of Silver Spring has let its quality slip over the past year - shoddy mechanical work, including missed problems after extensive service work (a persistent engine noise is one that I remember as well as water pouring from my radiator the morning after I picked up the car after extensive service.) And the body shop - which I used only after my car was damaged in the mechanical shop - is deplorable, with quality undeserving of a shop charged with repairing luxury cars. In addition to the crappy work, the unconcerned attitude - uncaring and racist - is what had me finally bailing. There was an implication that since there were missing body parts they had been stolen from my car (not that they had actually fallen off because they were installed poorly), as well as all kinds of microaggressions that I dare say are not directed to non-African-American customers who live in the city. The lack of concern about the dangerous position that the service personnel put me in because of shoddy mechanical and body work was astonishing. It's just a matter of time before someone is seriously hurt because of the lack of care of this shop. Don't say you weren't warned. read more

I previously wrote a 5 star review of my service experience at Lexus of Silver Spring, and now I have a 5 star sales experience to share as well. I recently purchased a 2017 Lexus LS460L from Jonathan Dorfmann at Lexus of Silver Spring, my experience was excellent. I had a hard line on budget, and the deal involved trading me out of another leased Lexus early in a negative position. Not only did Jonathan and Lexus of Silver Spring make the deal happen (a deal I couldn't get close to from any other dealership, I know I tried 5), they made the deal happen on a car they had to trade for from another dealer out of state, where the other dealers I dealt with couldn't make it happen on a car in their inventory. Jonathan and his managers scoured the east coast to find a car that met all of my requirements and wound up having a car shipped here from Alabama. He kept in touch with me every step of the way via text, even over the New Years holiday. For finance I dealt with Sally Morshed who was also excellent. At no time was I treated with anything but respect, I was never given the hard sell, and when I sat down to sign the papers everything was exactly as we had discussed (which shouldn't be a surprise, but unfortunately often with dealerships its not). Jonathan also clearly has a passion for the brand, and a strong knowledge of the brand and its products which unfortunately is often lacking with salespeople. I'm writing this letter in reference to my wife's car, a 2015 Lexus RX 350. As you know her motor blew up on March 5, 2022. She first saw a check engine light on March 1, 2022 when driving home. She parked the car in the garage and I looked at it on the evening of March 3, 2022. I checked all the fluids and everything seemed fine. I spent one hour looking in the book because on the screen it said "all wheel drive off track" I searched but couldn't find anything. She never drove the car after that until March 4, 2022 to come to work. I started the car an hour after she arrived and again it said the same thing. She complained of no heat so naturally I figured the thermostat was not working. I also noticed when driving the temperature gauge was not working. I drove straight to Dar Cars Lexus of Silver Spring with no problems. I dropped the car off and signed an agreement to have them diagnose the car for a cost of $189.00. They then in turn gave me a loaner car. I tried to reach them on Saturday to tell them not to touch the car. I found out at that time that their mechanic took apart my car without my permission to find out what the problem was. I called and asked why when all they had to do was remove a spark plug and they could scope each cylinder to see if they thought it was the head gasket they could easily find out. They then said I had a balance of $600.00 which I refused to pay. In the meantime I was speaking with my salesperson and the new manager at Dar Cars and informed them that I had filed a claim with Lexus direct advising that Dar Cars wouldn't do anything for me. There was no service due until it reached 60,000 miles and the car was running fine. They said that since I hadn't serviced the car at a Lexus Dealer they would do nothing. I spoke to my salesperson and the manager again and they said they would sell me a new car with a balance because the old car was not running anymore. It would cost $14,000.00 to replace the motor and my wife owed $16,000.00 so we would have to bring $10,000.00 to the table and they would get us in a new car. We refused their offer as the car was running when I brought it in until they took it apart without my permission. We also have GAP Insurance that I figured should have come into play but was never offered or even spoke of. They put Deb's car back together and I had it towed to Crownsville Automotive to see what they thought the problem was on Monday, the 28th of March. I again spoke to Lexus themselves and they said the same thing the dealer said, that since I didn't service the car at a Lexus dealer they would do nothing for me and then wouldn't take anymore of my calls. I know that in the state of Maryland I can take my car anywhere I wanted to. All it needed was oil changes. They dealer charged $259.00 for an oil change and I took it to Jiffy Lube where it was $71.95 a more reasonable rate. We have all of receipts/tickets of anything done to the car and yet they wouldn't accept them. Crownsville assessed the motor as blown so I had to find a motor to purchase and have it installed. I had the car towed to Lain's Automotive where the motor I purchased was installed. Lexus didn't give us any choice in what we had to do. A car that cost $55,000.00 should have given us a warning other than the one it did. We've leased and bought cars from Lexus since 2001 and felt like we were taken advantage of. All they wanted to do was sell us a new car and take our old one. While I may not be the brightest crayon in the box, a Lexus in exceptional shape with a new motor is a pretty sweet deal for about $18,000.00 to one of their people. I've enclosed all of the paperwork I think you need to proceed. I would also like to know why a car with 39K miles could not get an extended warranty from Lexus. I believe when you transfer a leased car to an owner it would then be a used car which should have qualified. We figured this would be the last car we would have to buy her as she is 65 years old and drives about 10K a year. read more

This started out bad, got better, then got worse. This buying experience has been so bad, I had to go back and edit this entry. Here are the concerns I have from my experience to date. Issue 1. Inefficient hand offs and follow through From sales to financing to orienting you on your new vehicle, to the L Certified programs, to service - severely fell short. To date, it's been almost 60-days, still no tags, no registration, no account set up with Lexus to pay my car note. Issue 2. Lack of communication and transparency No one honestly communicates the issues with delays. They just ignore your calls and emails. Twice, I have had to drive an hour away to speak with someone in person - only then, did things move along. The lack of communication and transparency cost me time, money and a hit on my credit because I was required to sign new paperwork and they ran my credit all over again as if this was a new deal (which I wasn't aware they would do). Because of lack of call backs, I had to drive 1-hr to make an in person payment at the dealer so that we didn't default. Issue 3. Poor service (dealer customer service only seems to route calls and doesn't resolve issues or provide return calls. Also, when I was made to wait to take delivery, it took days before I was offered a loaner, and the financing team had to plead to get it) Issue 4. Poor internal collaboration (not a seamless transaction. Everyone assumed someone else was handling things, and no follow through. Their inability to stay connected caused a bottleneck, which in all three instances were quick fixes, but dragged on for weeks). A positive: Initial Sales Contact Isaac, my sales guy was great and he is very responsive. He got me a vehicle without a haggle in less than 1 HR, and over the phone at that! Exactly what I asked for and within budget. He also gave a nice welcome gift from Lexus. He worked to have them honor their pricing online and over the phone, even though they had a misprint! Sales, financing and the GM worked to save the sale. They make a great team, when you are there in front of them ... in person, they made me feel like they cared about me, it just doesn't continue. This is my 2nd Lexus, and based on this experience, I love my Lexus but will never buy from them again. read more

This rating is for the service department. In March of 2012, a local mechanic recommended that I replace my front brake pads. I've had wonderful experiences with dealerships in the past (particularly Newport Lexus), so naturally I took my vehicle to Lexus of Silver Spring. I will never go back again. My service advisor was Michael Murphy. He was not only completely condescending during our initial sit-down meeting (let's see, raising your eyebrows and laughing when a customer tells you what they need is not exactly fantastic customer service), but he also expected to sell me new rotors after treating me this way. After laughing at me, he walked me out to my vehicle, used technical jargon, pointed inside my tires and say "See this here?" You need new rotors." Nice selling tactics, buddy). But wait! It gets better. Michael calls me later on during the day and informs me that I - gasp! - don't need new front brake pads or rotors. What happened to the technical jargon? What happened to the area inside my tires? Suddenly everything looks grand and nothing needs replacing? I informed him that I wanted the front brake pads replaced anyway (my vehicle had its OES brake pads, and I originally purchased the vehicle six years ago!), and he started laughing at me on the phone. "I just told you they don't need to be replaced," he says. Okay. Since when does a customer have to beg to get the service that they want? To add insult to injury, Michael made it a point to leave the original front brake pads on the floor of my vehicle when I picked it up so that I could "see" that he was right. Classic. I worked with Joel Araojo and put a deposit down on a vehicle that I changed my mind about because I received a better deal. The SALES manager of Darcars Lexus, Andreas Tsirikos was EXTREMELY rude to me and told me to contact corporate for my refund. I did NOT sign anything for this deposit. He held my money and made me go through the difficulty of calling numerous people just so that I could get my deposit back. I have filed a complaint with the better business bureau, and with the county and am waiting for corporate to contact me back. After this, even if i did not receive a better offer with someone else, I will NEVER purchase a vehicle from Darcars of Lexus because of their depseration for a sale that they seem to have forgotten the importance of customer service. I will NEVER recommend this business to a friend or family member and hope that no one ever has to deal with this. read more

Purchased an RX 350-L over one year ago. It has excellent safety features. The dealership has been reliable but I haven't really tested the business considering I barely have put more than 1,000 miles on the luxury AsUV. My rating is not backed by much interaction with the dealership though employees seem quite good. read more
