    Chicken Italian on focaccia

Great little sandwich shop on downtown Palatine . They had a lot of good paninis. The food came out quick and the servers were very helpful .

    Chipotle Hummus Wrap

Good place in a convenient location in Palatine downtown. Dario's is pretty close to the Metra station. It has sandwiches and that's pretty much all they have there. Good ones, not ones from corporate chains. There's not a whole lot for vegetarians, but they can customize a few sandwiches. Came in and got a wrap to eat inside. It's about $9 for a sandwich. That's a pretty good price for the size of these. A lot of the menu is meaty. The Chipotle Hummus Wrap comes with chicken, but I got it with avocado though. Free of charge, which made sense of course. It also has grilled red onions, lettuce, and roasted peppers. Ended up being a good substitute with avocado. This I could get again because it was pretty cheap and a big lunch. Has quite a few sandwiches to choose from. It has inside and more outside seating. There's ways to get substitutes on sandwiches such as avocado to make it okay for vegans and vegetarians.

Second time back to see if it was just as good as our first...it certainly was! I ordered the veggie panini, hubby got the cubano, both were great!! They also offer salads, wraps & flatbread. Definitely will be a regular spot for us. I believe hours are 11-3.

Soup and Southwest Chicken Panini - lunch combo.

I came across Dario's on March 5 while wandering through downtown Palatine, enjoying the weather and exploring new restaurants to try. I'm so glad we chose Dario's! The place is tiny, but offers a nice selection of wraps, paninis and salads. I made my selection while I waited to order at the counter, but when I reached the register, there was a sign advertising a 1/2 sandwich and soup lunch special, so I quickly changed my mind. I ordered the Southwest Chicken Panini and a cup of soup. As I wrote this a week later, the soup is not at all memorable, but that sandwich was amazing! It was packed full of flavor and they served me a full-sized sandwich, which was a pleasant surprise. It was a very good lunch, and I'd definitely order it again, but try a different soup. My friend ordered a salad that was also very big and delicious. The only thing I'd change is to not have the food served in takeout containers for those dining in. It's just unnecessary waste.

    Cubano and Chopped Chicken Salad

A hidden gem in downtown Palatine! It's a small place serving one of the best sandwiches I have ever had. Got the Cubano and the meat was extremely tender and flavorful. It had a perfect balance of richness from the meat and cheese and acidity from the pickles. The bread was crisp yet not hard and had the good crunch. The chopped chicken salad was also good with an extremely large portion size. Had a good amount of chicken and bacon and the avocado a perfect addition. Staff was extremely friendly and I felt like I was treated like family.

Seriously amazing Cubano. SO memorably delicious.

Dario's is low key AMAZING. We stumbled on this place looking for a quick lunch. It's been a long time we've been blown away by a food joint let alone a homey sandwich shop next to the Palatine train station, but we're dreaming about the next time we can go back. We had the Cubano and Club. Everything from the freshly sliced seasoned meat, warm soft bread, medley of flavors, to the sweet hardworking staff. The Italian soup with the lunch special was also on point. From these two sandwiches alone, I'm convinced you can't go wrong here. Dario's made us happy. I cannot believe how underrated this place is. Really hope they can open more locations!

I followed up and called Big Ange's mainly to let them know about the missing BBQ sauce issue just so it doesn't happen to others or to clarify if customers are supposed to know to ask. I spoke to the owner Rocco and he said sauce is normally provided for the Barbarian platter, and it must have been forgotten, and he apologized. To make things right, he graciously offered a complimentary sandwich upon my next visit and took my name. Well, I was in the vicinity today and swung by. Rocco not only gave me a 100% tip-top delicious brisket sandwich, but also a side of potato salad, and a bottle of their BBQ sauce to boot! I offered to pay for the sauce which was such a nice gesture as well, but he declined. Wow! Rocco is the youngish and energetic owner, and the Eatery is actually named after his Mom. He's been at it here since they bought the property back in 2012. Great place, great food, and we will always be fans, and will visit again sometime.

I'm a New Yorker, and although I enjoy a good Chicago deep dish, I still favor NY style pizzas. And this one is the best I can remember in Chicago. I've tried a lot. The crust is almost perfect. Well baked, crusty, chewy, and tasty. Lots of air at the edges and a great bite throughout. We had the sausage and peppers pizza. The sausage was crumbled across interior with fresh peppers. The sauce could have had a little more flavor, but it was very good - not too salty like so many others- and nicely spread across the inside of the pie. The crust held the toppings nicely- there was no mush in the middle. We also ordered a pear and pecan salad. Lots of pear squares, plenty of pecans, and a generous amount of greens. The soup of the day was a Tuscan soup - lots of beans, some sausage, cheese, and a flavorful broth. Fresh and homemade. And very good. Oh, and a pitcher of water came to our table with our plates and silverware. No issues. No problems. (From earlier reviews, we had been concerned about the availability of tap water. Ours was fine.). There was a reasonable selection of beer- including craft beers- at very reasonable prices. We enjoyed our meal. Ordering at the counter was easy and efficient. Prices were reasonable and the value was good. We found the service to be pleasant, friendly, and timely. We will be back to try other pizzas and look forward to it.

Overall it is cheerful and comfortable but the air conditioning was cranked up a little too much making me want to leave as soon as possible. The service was friendly and attentive although we were seated next to the kitchen so we overheard many of the staff's comments as they were going in and out of the kitchen. One of the waitstaff was clearly counting down the three hours left on his shift. The food was okay. While reviewing the menu you'll like notice the low prices. While that was nice to see you do get what you pay for. For 13 dollars and change I got the VIB breakfast where you pick four items from a few different categories. I chose scrambled eggs, turkey sausage, bacon and half a waffle. The portions were small and most of the food likely only needed to be reheated to be served. We are glad we gave Village Inn a try but will likely opt for a different place next time.

And Baker's Square closed YEARS ago in SoCal. Missed their pies and baked goods! So imagine my (pleasant) surprise when I found this little place in Palatine! I decided to head there for a brekky on a cool May morning. Stepped in, saw all the breads, pastries, and pies along the front counters- wow. I was greeted warmly and seated instantly. My waitress came right away, and I ordered unleaded (decaf for those in the know). It came in a little pot, ala IHOP, and was really, really GOOD. Wow. Decaf has come a long ways from the Sanka days! I ordered the INN-CREDIBLE V.I.B. which allowed me to order 4 yummy items of my choice - I chose the french toast (yummy and spiced just right albeit w/room temp syrup- not a deal-breaker but notable), a strawberry crepe (totally awesome strawberries, but the crepe was a bit colder than expected); scrambled eggs (always a nice stalwart) and two turkey sausage links (as with the frenchie above, nicely flavored!). The ambience was modern, updated, and felt welcoming and (thankfully) a bit familiar. Brought back some good ol' memories even if only the Baker's Square part of the menu was just pies nowadays. But the Village Inn lives on! And that counts - and I'll return. You should check it out too if you enjoy a good brekky at a classic American diner!
