Slightly sweet from the maple but not too sweet. The latte is creamy and you can really taste the quality coffee. Locations like these always lose a point for parking in y opinion. Finding parking is a mission, but on top of that, you have a limit on how long you can stay. I go to coffee shops in search of good studying locations. I enjoy a nice drink with a small breakfast or pastry. They only had two options for food. A plain bagel with cream cheese or a breakfast sandwich. The applewood bacon sandwich was really good. The spot itself was calm. However, the chairs were really uncomfortable. I would not recommend if you have wider hips. The booth tables had better seating options, but the tables were very low. I had to move locations because the outlet closest to the window did not work. Overall, the food was okay and the vibe was calm. One thing I would like to add is the customer service was fine however, the employees were really loud and obnoxious talking among themselves. I had been at the Dark Horse in North Park a few times so when I saw they opened one in Chula Vista it was a must go. Place is located in the heart of Downtown Chula Vista only with street parking although there is a parking structure in an alley behind. It is big inside with lots of tables to hang out. Servie needed a little bit of umph, baristas needed to be a littlw bit more enthusiastic. The decor was very original but it lacked of an energetic vibe. They offer a few pastries besides the coffee. We ordered the cortado and a latte. They were ok but not out of this world, maybe it was the coffee blend they used. This location was the perfect spot for me to come and get some work done on a Sunday. Excellent coffee, excellent pastries, and great service. My mother and I were in the neighborhood and stopped in for some coffee and pastries. The gentleman working behind the counter was very patient answering all of my questions about the various pastries they had in the display. We got a lemon loaf and a concha and they were both very fresh and delicious. The lemon loaf was so dense. We only ate about a quarter of it and had to save the rest for later. I had an iced coffee and my mother had a cappuccino, both of them were very flavorful and delicious. It was a Saturday afternoon and mildly busy, but we were able to find a table and enjoy ourselves for quite some time. There was plenty of street parking parking and the neighborhood was very quiet and calm. I'm not in the Chula Vista area often, but would definitely return if I'm in the neighborhood. read more

This place makes a solid double shot 12oz Americano. It's usually pretty busy and the service is always fast. The baristas aren't the friendliest bunch but they are busy. When someone makes it a point to say thank you and have a great day, the least you could do is acknowledge it, but who knows, maybe they were having a shit day and didn't want to hear that. I was looking for a place to study that's not too busy on a Saturday and Dark Horse was perfect. It had plenty of tables and chairs available for 1pm on a Saturday. I ordered an iced salted maple with oat milk and two bagels with cream cheese. Their bagels are fire and they give a very generous portion of cream cheese. So much that it reminded me of New York bagels. Everything bagel and the rosemary bagel were fire and so was the drink. It was nice and quiet and a perfect place to study or work. The WiFi speeds are in my picture and gets the job done since I'm not streaming or anything. Too bad they closed at 3 that day (but they usually close at 4 everyday). Was looking for a coffee near the area and this place caught my attention because of the name. As soon as I walked in, I found it very cute and welcoming. The cashier and the barista were very helpful and nice. I ordered the cafe de olla with almond milk and it is so flavorful and amazing. Came here to study and I've been to different locations of dark horse coffee roasters and enjoy this one. Coffee is strong and staff is nice. I got the salted caramel nitro cold brew and didn't like the after taste of the salted caramel syrup and they were happy to swap it to a regular nitro for me. They don't have a caramel drizzle because everything is apparently vegan. Plenty of seating and noise level is great for my preference. Will definitely be coming back. read more

I have always wanted to try this place and this was the perfect opportunity to do so! The name and decor drew me in. They did not offer donuts as indicated but they did have a coffee ice cream available. We went to eat and drink first then came back for dessert. We arrived at 7pm and the coffee ice cream was gone.
