If you have a large group for a special occasion, anniversary, birthday, significant milestone, etc... this is the place to go. First off, Persian food is perfect for large groups because it's all about sharing the food in a family type setting. My brother made the reservation for 20. They accommodating this nicely with a really nice table that looked out on the whole restaurant. The server was great. He and his team did a great job delivering great service and food. Whenever we ask him for something he made it happen. The nice thing about a big group is you just start ordering appetizers and then entrees and then they will portion out the proper amount for the amount of people you have. No one needs to order their own individual entree. Lastly, they have a belly dancer on the weekends which is a lot of fun. They also have a musician playing. They have a full bar so get your drink on and it's a lot of fun

Took us 1 hour just to not get seated all of the tables were reserved and the prices were ridiculous! 30 $ for a kabob and rice! And the guy who was telling us was pretty much kicking us out! Horrible! Please fix this or get more seating.

Love this place! You can't go wrong with Persian food and Darya Orange is the best spot for it. I don't think I've ever had such succulent chicken in my life. Very flavorful and fragrant. The accompanying rice and salad are perfectly matched with the protein. Ambience is elegant and traditional, and the service is friendly and hospitable. Overall, it's a memorable dining experience and worth every bite!

My fiancé and I love this restaurant! The service is incredible! Everyone is so kind and welcoming. The food is also very good. We love the romantic and peaceful ambience of this place. We usually go on a week night. If you come by, you have to try the pineapple saffron martini. It's my favorite drink on their menu!

Came here for my birthday and LOVED it. Their workers are super sweet and welcoming which was a great start to the night. We ordered the Shirazi salad and hummus to start. For meat we got beef, lamb, and chicken koobideh. We had pickles and rice and veggies which paired so well with everything. The meat was so juicy and the rice was perfect texture. Darya has been on my list, though the one in LA, not here. I visited on Father's Day in the afternoon, and there were many tables dining in. Amongst our friend group of young adults, one of the funniest recounts was how the staff member only said Happy Father's Day to one individual and not the rest of us - whom were coincidentally not celebrating, though we did not know til later. One of us came for juicy chicken, and we were initially disappointed to hear that they had a special Father's Day menu which did not include that. We instead ordered off the condensed menu menu for items like dough, lamb / beef kabobs, etc. We had their borani and yogurt based dip and a pitcher of dough to start off, and since that order, service was nonexistent unless we actively flagged someone down - including water refills. Once all of our entrees arrived, we all agreed that it was not impressive or normal; most of the meats were dry and very bland, which is unlike the Persian food that any of us had eaten - and we have had quite a bit before. The flavor and experience were something that not even sumac could've fixed. Was it perhaps that none of us were Persian that we were barely checked on and had to actively ask for everything? Or perhaps this was an off day - but no Father's Day? These questions may remain unanswered, but we all know which Persian restaurant to call a regular, and it's not this one.

I've been coming to Darya since I was a kid, and it's still one of my all-time favorite spots. As someone with a Persian grandma who's an amazing cook, I grew up around great Persian food, and this place definitely holds its own. Every time we're in the area, it's a must-visit. We've brought friends and family here over the years, and without fail, they fall in love with it too. The food is consistently delicious, the service is always warm and attentive, and the ambiance is elegant yet welcoming. If you go on a Friday or Saturday night, you're in for a treat with live music and belly dancing, it adds such a fun, lively energy to the evening. Highly recommend it for anyone wanting an authentic and memorable Persian dining experience.

We had a wonderful experience at Darya Restaurant. We started with mast-o-moosir and tahdig topped with ghormeh sabzi and gheymeh--every bite was comforting and perfectly cooked. They also brought out freshly baked bread with butter to start, which was a great touch. For the main course, we ordered the fesenjoon and the soltani kabob. The fesenjoon was outstanding--hands down my favorite I've ever had. Rich, perfectly balanced, and unforgettable. The soltani kabob was also excellent, cooked just right and very flavorful. Everything we tried was delicious, the staff was very friendly, and the service was great from start to finish. Highly recommend if you're craving quality Persian food.

Been coming to this restaurant for years. Love the menu! The servers are so friendly and nice. The food is incredible. The Fesenjān is my favorite! So tasty and the crispy rice is a great addition. Every time I come to this Darya, I am always greeted and promptly seated. Service is always excellent from the entire staff. Every dish I order at Darya is always delicious and juicy. The Chicken Koobideh, Kashke Bademjan, Chicken Barg, Shirazi Salad and Tadiq with Fesenjon are my favorites. The meat has so much flavor, it is juicy and tender. The Bread comes out fresh and hot from the bread oven. And ending my meal with a glass of hot Persian Tea. I found another great Persian restaurant in the area. Thank you Dayra Restaurant!

This was my first visit. For my birthday celebration, my friend had recommended this place. The lady who helped us asked if we wanted to view the bar area and maybe take a seat there. We noticed the place, and it looked comfortable, so we sat down. The host was outstanding, and the meal was delicious. They were vacuuming while we were so engaged in our conversation that we missed it, and they never came to tell us they were closed. They were quite nice and welcoming to us. The best kabob barg (filet mignon) in So Cal. Believe it I had heard this for many years and now know it to be true. We can in with another couple around 8pm on a Sunday and the dining room was empty except for another diner. The service was fine. They didn't really check on us or refill drinks. But we didn't care because we were engaged in conversation. It is worth noting, though. The food was delicious and the stand out was the kabob barg. We had the beef Soltani, the chicken Soltani, the jujeh kabob - Cornish game hen, and Tadiq with stew. Appetizers mast musir and paint sabzi complete the meal as they are eaten before and with your food. The bread was freshly made in their Tandoor oven - delicious but I would have liked it to be served in larger pieces. It was cut in small pieces. We ordered family style as we were introducing our friends to Persian food and wanted everyone to try all the dishes. Overall a great experience and outstanding food. read more

Very happy to say that this was a wonderful experience for my wife and I I've been wanting to try this place for a long time and with Covid we wanted to order to go and we called and talk to Sahara. What a great representative for Darya and she went over the menu with me, and suggested some of the more popular entrées salad and sides. Every restaurant should be so lucky to have a Sahara working for them. Omg it was so good , so fresh,. And so perfectly seasoned not too salty, just right! The eggplant Borani with the side flat bread was absolutely incredible; The side grilled vegetable was wonderful, Koobiden combo, Beef and chicken was great along with the Darya salad. I absolutely recommend this wonderful establishment; it looks like they had quite an indoor crowd also with social distancing in place and everyone was masked up that worked at the restaurant. Can't wait to try more things on the amazing menu next time. Stay safe everyone and please please please wear a mask to protect our community. read more

Excellent. Farnaz was our host and server. She was friendly, attentive, and hospitable. Just wonderful. The food was amazing, and these guys can compete against Raffi's. They make their own bread, and it is far superior to any other Persian restaurant. Ultimately, they do everything right and should be commended. read more

This is a very nice Persian restaurant! Thank you Darya for being born and inspiring your dad to start this place! Darya is the owner of this family owned restaurant started by her dad. She is a lovely lady and very hands on and was nice enough to introduce herself to our group and made sure we were taken care of. Everything was delicious! We ordered the chicken and filet mignon kabobs, salmon, and rice, the Darya Salad along with a few starters like the eggplant and sautéed shrimp with mushrooms. The beginning pita bread was also really good! It was perfectly warm and served with butter. And then for dessert we ordered the Persian ice cream, zoolbia, and baklava. Our dinner was delicious, as usual. The service was exceptional. Our waiter, Makeo, was amazing! He was friendly and attentive and made our night more pleasant. We also enjoyed the singer and belly dancer. They were both excellent performers. My 7 year old son didn't even need his tablet. I had a nail appointment here in this plaza one afternoon, and my curiosity got the best of me based on the upscale exterior design of the restaurant. Chose to try only a side dish of the Lubia hummus, mixed w/veg and steak pieces. Wow was this dish fantastic. Definitely will keep this one in mind for date night while in the OC Area next time. LOVE LOVE LOVE DARYA RESTAURANT! My family of 7 came in on a Thursday night to celebrate my brother's birthday, and there was a live musician playing the keyboard! Such a beautiful ambience! Shanna was so accommodating for our large party! My grandpa is in a wheelchair, and everyone was so accommodating! Shanna held the birthday cake in the back as well until we were ready to sing happy bday, and she was eager to take our group photos! Really appreciate her attention to detail & energy! Now, the food! The food is divine! This was my first time (and my family's) trying Persian food! We are hooked! The koobideh and kabobs are amazing! The meats are juicy & well-seasoned! I got the fillet mignon kabob, and I was very pleased! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone & everyone! Tip: Check-in to get free hummus! Really nice old fashioned tablecloth restaurant. Which is nice for a change. I must confess that I went because they had Lake Superior Whitefish on the menu. Very hard to find these days unless you are in Michigan. It was delicious. The rest of my party indulged in a range of Persian dishes. The menu is large and split into various choices. Beef/chicken/ Lamb/ Stews/salads etc. Kind of nice to be able to peruse say Lamb dishes. Lamb Chops were very good, but the stews stood out. Dolma and hummus to begin were good, and an eggplant dish was excellent. Dishes are not particularly pretty most having the ubiquitous rice with them . But tasty anyway and Persian rice is good. Can't say anything about drinks because my entire party was in AA, therefore making it unfair for me to order a cocktail . Service was very good and hostess was particularly friendly. read more

The kashkeh Bademjan had NO kashk on it. Kind of defeats the entire point of the meal. I see the pictures of this item on the menu includes kashkeh, so why didn't my meal? Also didn't receive any lavash or onion which I always get when ordering. Very disappointing as a Persian to see this. Update: I appreciate the establishment reaching out, there was slight miscommunication and I received the wrong order but they were kind enough to offer me a complimentary order next time I come in because I will be back! I've had the kashkeh bademjan many times before and it's great. Again, I appreciate when a restaurant is understanding and willing to help, and I'll certainly be back. read more

We offer a variety of Fire-grilled Kabobs from fish to chicken, to lamb and filet mignon. We also have a variety of traditional Persian dishes such as our stews and mixed rice dishes. We offer healthy salads and Mediterranean dips. We offer catering for 20-200 guests. We offer specialty cocktails in our full bar and cozy lounge. Our newly remodeled Orange location has 2 banquet rooms for private events.

Darya Restaurant in Orange is the first Persian Restaurant in Orange County. The owner and chef is still in the Kitchen every day providing guests with the highest quality Persian Cuisine.

0 Stars... I have virtually given my life to Darya as a restaurant of quality. And, now, after 25+ years of integrity, introducing new customers, bringing in new customers, and having celebrated 2 wedding anniversaries, and knowing their Friday & Saturday entertainment, having photographed Amir, which made the front cover of the largest circulated Persian magazine in the world, somehow, one might recognize me, if nothing more than a matter of respect. I was planning my 28th wedding anniversary; I called got some bitchy woman, and when I asked about a 'corking' fee, it was outrageous. I explained my above credentials but then pretended she did NOT understand English. Fine! So I went in yesterday, July 17th, 2013, thought I'd address the manager, who I KNOW and yet, he acted as if I was a nobody. He claimed he didn't remember me, but when various members of his staff walked by, they were exuberant, even gave me hugs. Yet, this fool Tony claims he didn't know me. While endeavouring to make my anniversary arrangements, he was nothing more than "I don't give a rat's nose' attitude, then dropped his pen in the middle of my conversation, and walked over to some of his Persian buddies and personally seated them, when his girl was there to take over. I retrieved my card and vowed NEVER to go there again. "It only takes a single bad apple to tumble a barrel..." Now, after more than 25 years, that's my intention... A letter will go out to Darya about this experience and I will alert all my friends and customers, who will also receive a letter about the way I was treated. After spending thousands of dollars, I thought an uncorking of a wine bottle would be a kind gesture, but they wanted to charge $28.00. I hope this helps your future endeavours to Persian restaurants. Dary is NOT the only one around. Tony is a jerk, a most pathetic one at that! Idiot!! Didn't recognize me although we've spoken many times and KNEW me. This is NO WAY to treat patronage of nearly 30 years... I don't know what it is, the Iranians held Americans hostage and then they flourish in restaurants, and then treat their long-time standing customers like crap! If you're looking for a great dining experience in Orange County, Darya Restaurant is definitely worth a visit! My recent experience there was exceptional, and I owe much of that to the outstanding service provided by Makeo and Ruben. From the moment I walked in, I was impressed with the ambiance and decor of the restaurant. The dim lighting and elegant furnishings created a warm and inviting atmosphere. The menu was extensive, and I was excited to try some of the traditional Persian dishes. Makeo and Ruben were our servers for the evening, and they were both incredibly friendly and attentive. They took the time to explain the menu to us and make recommendations based on our preferences. They were also happy to answer any questions we had about the ingredients or preparation of the dishes. The food itself was absolutely delicious! We started with the hummus and flatbread, which was a perfect appetizer to share. For the main course, I had the lamb shank, which was cooked to perfection and served with a flavorful sauce. My dining companions also raved about their meals, which included the chicken kebab and the vegetarian stew. If you know a Persian in OC and they want to have Persian food for dinner, they will want to go to Darya. And as far a Persian food goes, this is the best/nicest in the area. That said, Persian food is kinda-of a one note symphony and Darya does it's best to play by the rules. Almost every plate is a heaping pile of one of several different types of rice with a nicely grilled mound of whatever your meat is. For the life of me, and after four or five visits, I cannot tell the difference between the seasoning on Chicken Barg, Chicken Soltani, and Chicken Kobideh. They look a little different, but I'm not Persian so the subtleties are lost on me. I always eat everything because it is good, but this is not fine dining. Its a very large place, with lot of tables and chairs that come from a big catalog full of cheap restaurant supplies. You get the feeling large Persian weddings happen here all the time. There is an array of very strange art on one large wall. Sometimes there is a classical Spanish guitarist playing on the smallish stage. Occasionally a belly dancer does a thing. And try to avoid the middle aged female server; she's a complete nightmare. This is a great Persian restaurant. Very consistent in the quality of the food and the service. My personal favorites here are the beef koobideh, wonderful flavor and very tender. I also like the Polo dishes. Polo must mean "fancy rice" in farsi, because that's what it is. I like the adas polo the best, because the dates in the rice give a great sweet/savory balance, and the lubia polo is great too because it has little piece of filet in and and it comes with koobideh! As always, two rights don't make a wrong. My dad loves the Bademjan here, which is an eggplant dish. I am not a huge fan of eggplant so I never order it, but if you like eggplant a lot get it because he raves about it. The appetizers and deserts here are really good too. If you go for a full three course meal like that you end up racking up a bit of a tab, but you'll be stuffed with good food, you'll have leftovers, and you'll feel like it was worth it. I had another wonderful experience at Darya Restaurant, as always. Nazee was incredibly kind, attentive, and professional, making sure everything was perfect throughout our visit. Carlos was also very warm and welcoming, which really adds to the overall atmosphere of the restaurant. The bar was excellent, and the drinks were well-made and delicious. The food was outstanding, with great quality and flavor in every dish. The staff worked seamlessly as a team, and the service was smooth, attentive, and timely. This was my second time at Darya. I went last year for a business function and remember loving the food. Last night my family and I tried Darya's service. We were seated immediately. Romantic ambiance soft music playing in the background. Our waiter took our drink order immediately and answered our questions about the menu. I had the soltani which had 2 types of beef kabob and the yogurt appetizer. The portion was huge I could only eat half of it although it was delicious. I brought the rest home and had it for lunch today. I also tried a ittle of several other dishes 2 stews and they were both very good. I will for sure be back again. if you're looking for a getaway dinner this weekend, check out Darya Restaurant in Orange. Enjoy their fine Persian cuisine outdoor in a beautiful patio. Their interior is also nice too. Can't wait until indoor dining is allowed. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ let's talk about their food. I am in love with all of their proteins. Steak was juicy and tender. Salmon (my fav) was flavorful and perfectly cooked. Chicken was tender. Everything was superbly yummy . ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ dessert!! You must try their Persian Ice Cream. It's creamy, filled with chunks of pistachio and has a nice fragrance to it. I had the pleasure of dining at Darya Restaurant in Orange County, CA tonight and I couldn't be more impressed! The food was absolutely delicious! The flavors were complex with perfect combinations of spices and herbs. The service was excellent- friendly and attentive. The live music playing was a great addition to the atmosphere. As for the belly dancing show - WOW! The performers were breathtaking. I was entranced! To top it all off, the cheesecake for desert was out of this world! Everything about this place is exceptional! First, the food. Wow!!! The menu features fresh, flavorful dishes that are thoughtfully prepared and elegantly presented. I've never had a bad dish there - they have all been wonderful - and I've been there now dozens of time. Second, the staff is attentive and exceptionally friendly, making sure every aspect of your meal feels personal and well cared for. We have been going to Darya for over two years now. Tried the one in SCP and Santa Monica but this one is by far the most authentic one. The ambience is typical Persian though I am not so sure about their lounge addition to the restaurant. As for the food, you can't really beat the taste and prices. The meal portions are big, I specially like their home made bread and the meat is always juicy and tender. If you are ever hungry for lunch they have a lunch menu (koobedeh for under $9). I brought many friends here and everyone has enjoyed their menu. Can't wait to go back!!! read more

I used to go to Darya all the time, food is OK, however, there is an old lady that acts as a manager. I never got her name. She is very rude and unprofessional. She does not have any clue how to deal with customers. I developed a deep appreciation for this restaurant after being graciously attended to by Elda. Her recommendation of the filet mignon kabob and hummus, accompanied by a specially selected tea, was nothing short of exquisite. The culinary experience was truly exceptional, with the filet mignon kabob proving to be remarkably tender and succulent, the rice displaying an extraordinary level of perfection, and the hummus reaching the pinnacle of delectable flavors. So I am new to this whole yelp thing and this is my first review. I used yelp to find this restaurant based on my love for persian food and the great reviews, so I thought it was only fair that I contributed to this "yelp world" of recommendations. I loved every last bite. I ordered chicken breast kabab over rice. The chicken was so tender and juicy. Also, as you are waiting for your food they serve you fresh out of the oven bread.
