10 minutes from our hotel, this Mediterranean food restaurant is easy to get to and a good spot for medium sized groups. We had 8 people and didn't have any problems with parking or getting a table on a Friday night. This was my first time here. I had the lamb shish kebab, and it was massive. Lots of rice and salad, and the lamb was cooked to order. Flavors were good for my dish. Others said their food was good, too. I got the chicken pesto panini with Caesar salad and meat lovers entree with basmati rice and avocado salad. The panini came out fresh and hot bread was perfectly crispy and the chicken was juicy and flavorful. Caesar salad was delicious and tossed in the perfect amount of dressing. The meat lovers entree was also good the chicken skewer was my favorite and stole the show juicy and flavorful. The koobideh kabob was just okay not that good or flavorful. I would not get it again I didn't love the dressing on the avocado salad either didn't tastes like anything but sour oil needed flavor. I got a side of pita just the bread and ate it with the chicken skewers it was great! Overall I would come back and looking forward to it only going to order the chicken skewers, Caesar salad, and chicken pesto panini next time though. read more

The standout for me was definitely the tzatziki -- it tasted super fresh and honestly might have been one of the best parts of the meal. You can tell the kitchen puts care into the food quality. That being said, the service side unfortunately took away from the experience a bit. The servers seemed visibly frustrated or overwhelmed, and it started to bleed into how they interacted with customers. The attitude and lack of warmth made the atmosphere feel a little uncomfortable at times. The food here is awesome and I truly wish I could give it more stars, but the service was so bad. I started with the appetizer combo which included the caprese, falafel, tzatziki, and hummus. The hummus was delicious and is a definite must try- especially to pair with an entrée. I enjoyed the quantity and quality of the appetizer combo, and I could really taste the home-made ingredients. I also ordered the Chicken kabob which was juicy and well seasoned. The basmati rice was a chefs kiss and I liked the flavor that it had. My partner also ordered Chicken Linguine and the pasta was fresh! Just a heads up it does come with a bit of oil/water at the bottom of the pasta bowl so just keep that in mind. I loved the food as it came out fast and hot! The service is what keeps me from giving this place more stars. I was given a 10 minute-Ish wait time when there was a ton of open seating (which is not a huge deal breaker), but once I sat, the service started to go downhill. There was a 10-minute delay before anyone approached the table and when they did it was a runner who just got our drinks. The runner mentioned that our server would be with us in a couple minutes since it was busy. We got our drinks, but waited another 15 minutes to place the order since the server never came and the runner also ended up taking our order. It wasn't until another 15 minutes after receiving our food did our server approach us, which was already about 40 minutes of being inside the restaurant. I also want to note the server didn't apologize for the lack of service. Total time in the restaurant was almost 1.5 hours - majority of the time waiting either to get our order taken or for the check. Great food, but service needs a step up. Same result everytime. Super slow service. There's at least 5 servers from what I see. It's 4:30pm on a Friday. There's only 2 tables occupied. Still waited to be seated. Workers just standing around talking to each other. Didn't see a server come to us for at least 10 min. My tip is know what you want including drinks and sides and sauces, and order all at once. This restaurant is part of the Main Place mall in Santa Ana, behind the Discovery Cube. I recommend you use Google maps to lead you directly to the restaurant, and to park next to it. Finding the restaurant from inside of the mall is more circuitous and challenging, because you have to walk through a massive arcade to get there. Anyway, my friend and her mom arrived before me, and got a nice little table inside. High ceilings with ceiling fans, and lights that are bright enough, but not glaring, as well as plenty of natural lighting from the large windows, made for a very welcoming atmosphere. The walls are covered in paintings, many of which have signs referring to parts of Italy, but the food is more Persian style, but maybe a little fusion. Diego, our server, was very attentive and helpful I ordered the chicken kebab with Mediterranean salad, and basmati rice. I also ordered the iced tea, which is a very light and refreshing ginger peach flavor, with a wedge of lemon in it. The food came out within about 20 minutes, and it was a generous portion. I had enough leftovers to pack for lunch tomorrow, so that is happy making. My salad and rice were both delicious. The grilled onions were perfectly charred. Though my chicken was well seasoned, it was unfortunately slightly overcooked.. I think there was Christmas music playing in the background, top 40 style, but not so loud that we couldn't enjoy conversation. It was my first experience of Panini kebab Grill. Hard to believe I have not come across this Persian restaurant sooner. Atmosphere outside patio nice and clean beautiful decorated Food Falafel plater, outstanding food with the option of 3 side salads. I picked the Mediterranean with lettuce onions, tomatoes, cucumber and olives sprinkled with goat cheese. The hummus was delicious and the yogurt cucumber dip was also very tasty The portion was huge and enough to take half home for dinner later. Like enough for 2 meals per plate so it's definitely worth it for the price and quantity. Been here a few times so a review is overdue. Today I came in on a Wednesday night with a party of 3 and got seated right away. Service was fast. Our server Amaris was very pleasant and efficient. We ordered the family meal that comes with rice, chicken kabobs and 2 salads but we substituted 2 of the chicken kabobs for a ground beef and lamb. So yummy I forgot to take a picture! My fave is the strawberry date salad, they forgot the dates and as soon as we mentioned it to our server she didn't hesitate to bring it right out. Everything about the place says cozy comfort. I prefer the interior seating with small tables however, you can sit outside. All of the plates are very generous. Three of us got eraps (spinach or flour ) which comes with two kinds of sauces and a side of your choice. I got the falafel which was really really good , having it great crunch on the outside of the falafel. And such freshness inside of the wrap. Another got a green salad as their side and it was absolutely fresh. Surprisingly there's a really good selection of adult drinks! It has so many wonderfully flavored ingredients all in one, with sliced strawberries, Medjool Dates, and candied walnuts. It also comes with cheese, but I order it without. But the first thing you gotta order is a side of hummus with their house-made pita bread. The spicy one is my favorite, and not too hot with a really nice little kick. For my main dish, I always have to order the Flat-Iron Steak Kabobs plate with Basmati Rice. It's my favorite cut of beef, with this chain being the only one that offers it as kabobs. I have had the charbroiled chicken, and it is super flavorful all on its own, but my choice is usually steak over all. Oh and they have two rice options, along with bulgar wheat, and grilled veggies. I don't usually leave negative reviews unless I've had a genuinely bad experience, but unfortunately this visit was disappointing. My toddler and I came in for dinner after an event, and he was extremely hungry. The food came out quickly, which I appreciated...but the order was incorrect. I had ordered chicken, but was given a beef plate instead. I'm not typically picky, but my son does not eat beef, so this was an issue. I asked the waitress to confirm my order, and once she saw the plate, she acknowledged the mistake. A few minutes later, the manager, Carlos, came out with the correct order and removed the incorrect one. I simply asked if I could keep the sauce since I had already started eating it, and his response was surprisingly hesitant--as if it were a big request. Only after I said something did he agree. It was frustrating because instead of making the situation right after their mistake, the interaction felt unnecessarily difficult and unaccommodating. On top of that, the food itself was not good. Unfortunately, I won't be returning or recommending this place. I hope they work on improving both their service and overall experience. read more

I was so frustrated and super annoyed, but Sam reassured me he could get it out to me less than 20 minutes! We usually order the family combo for 4 for the most bang for our buck. It's a little expensive, but we always have a lot of leftovers; the website says it feeds up to 6 people and I would say that's accurate. I love that you can get two different types of salads and rice without an additional charge. Substituting the skewers for a different meat is also at a lower price than ordering individually. The rice is always cooked well and the salads are fresh with really good dressing. I especially like the romaine avocado salad that has a lemon dressing. The meat is usually seasoned well and not dry, but it can sometimes be burnt. A small complaint I have with Panini Kabob Grill is that they vary not only restaurant by restaurant, but also within the same restaurant with the amount they give of certain items. For example, I love the tzatziki that comes with the koobideh skewers, but sometimes they give a big container of it and this time they gave two small containers which was not enough for us. You never know until you pick up the order and may want to order more once you do. They also only give one vegetable skewer for 6 koobideh skewers, but a lot more vegetables for chicken skewers. Overall, this restaurant provides great Mediterranean food that is a staple in our household and this particular location has never gotten our order wrong even though they are super busy! read more

Placed a pick up order and I ordered a slice of baklava. The slice was offensively small. It was more like a corner of a corner than a slice. Not sure if that size is standard but the ridiculous size both made me laugh and PMO. See photos for reference but the slice fit in the center of my small hands. The place was packed with the line out the door. I point this out bc maybe the fact that they were so busy explains the skimpy size and why quality of other food items wasn't as great as it's been in the past.
