I absolutely love getting food from the Dashi food truck. The restaurant is a fun place as well. Our 1st night we went there was kinda busy, so we hopped to the little bar on the side. We walked in at the end of Bingo, but something to try, hopefully next time. There are also board games to play. Family friendly for sure. At the bar, our 1st bar tender seemed like he had been there all day... but luckily, shortly after, we were upgraded to a fresh new bartender, and she was great! Hello friendly Yelpers, This is one review I'm excited to share. I could start just about anywhere and to be honest we would end up with the same result. Splendid, Phenomenal exceptionally delicious. My visit to Dashi was solely inspired on previous reviews and wild stories of how great the food was. I will concur that the food does meet all ones requirements however there where a few items that could be better like the Chicken Burrito that is pack with an abundance of flavor but the chicken fails to meet the bar. Then on the flip side when you dive into the Thai Chili Wing you taste all the flavors of Latin Asian culture on another level. Dashi is such a cute and delicious place, I don't know why I haven't written a review until now. I usually order online but lately I've been enjoying their food at the restaurant. My go to meal is the pad Thai with double pork belly. I like that you can choose two protein options but their pork belly is so delicious. I also really enjoy their cocktails. My favorite so far has been their watermelon margarita that they put sugar on the rim for! Every time I go, I have been seated quickly. The service is always fast and friendly. You get up to order and pay at the counter, but then the food is brought out to you. The service staff were all friendly and provided a nice lunch experience for our group. Dashi is our favorite restaurant in the Charleston area. It is the one restaurant that I have "withdrawal " from if I haven't had a "fix" . There is nothing on the menu that's not good and several items that are craveable. My favorites are the pasta dishes and the soccarat. The service is always welcoming and efficient. The ambiance is as unique as the food offerings and neither are intimidating. Parking can be a challenge upon occasion but that's a function of how popular it is. I had high expectations because I'd heard such good reviews. I found the restaurant overwhelming. The menu was hard to read and scattered all over on different walls, doors. It was very crowded and loud. The cashier wanted us to order quickly. The food had good flavor, but also STRONG flavor. The pork belly fried rice was spicy and an explosion of flavor. It was all a little too much for me. There were clothing racks, and stuff everywhere. Which is maybe the vibe they were going for. So glad they had outdoor seating so we could get out away from the noise (even though the speakers were pretty loud outside too) and enjoy the sunshine. I had the duck ramen. It was delicious! The duck fat soaks into the soup giving it extra flavor with a hint of cinnamon added. To be fair, if you want authentic Ramen, you may be disappointed as this is more of a fusion dish. However, if you're looking for a hearty meal that tastes great this is a solid choice. I'm a taco lover like so many others and usually opt for the taco. They have a warm flour tortilla with lots of melty cheese, the protein (or tofu) or veggies of your choice along with slaw, pickled sweet peppers and wait for it, a Sriracha Hollandaise. To my surprise, everyone in the place was playing Bingo which was cool to see. But the food I ordered was simply outstanding! Me and my wife ordered the Gaucho Steak Plate, Thai Wings, Shrimp Taco, Steam Buns with Chicken and Thai Cucumber Salad. Steak was juicy and tender also cook to perfection. Dashi is one of my best friend's favorite places to dine in Charleston, and so during a recent visit home to the area I figured it was high time I see what all the fuss was about. When we walked in I was immediately struck by the bright and cheery vintage-inspired interior (and racks and racks of locally brewed beer.) You place your order at the counter and wait to have it brought to your table. For my meal, I started with an order of the Patatas Bravas small plate and opted to add pork belly protein to the dish. Just a heads up - if you're like me and HATE onions - be advised this dish comes served with a hearty dose of scallions on top even though it's not listed as an ingredient on the menu. After I spent some time picking those off - I dove into the dish with relish. I would definitely recommend and order again - however, I suggest passing on adding protein. Frankly - you don't need it - because it's delicious without - but also, our pork belly was overcooked and burnt in some instances so it was a bit of a waste. For my main course I went with the Gaucho Steak Plate with a side of potato salad. I LOVED this dish - the steak was cooked to perfection, the chimichurri was fresh and flavorful, and the potato salad had me wishing that this is how we did potato salad more often in the US. I went here today for the very first time, which is surprising, because I've heard so many great things. Well, all of those things were true. Alas, I am a dinglehopper and took a picture of everyones food except for my own, the burrito and warm potato salad. The burrito was amazing, it's definitely Asian fusion, so if you're looking for a cal mex or anything of that nature (what I was expecting for some reason) this is not it. But still outstanding. The warm potato salad was chopped fingerling potatoes with homemade chorizo and it was heavenly and should be advertised as a hangover or comfort food. I tasted the other dishes pictured, the pad Thai and stir fry and both had a great flavor to them. Will probably order the Pad Thai next time. The atmosphere/ ambience had a nice cozy yet semi busy vibe with various types of seating- booths, tables and chairs, bar seating, indoor/outdoor. They also have highchairs. I really liked this place. You order at the cashier, get a table # placard and find an open table, and they will drop off the food once it's ready. The Beef Salad ($18) was easily one of the best salads I've ever had. It was a generous serving of beef with a delicious and flavorful dressing. Though I dislike salads, I can eat this salad everyday! The Pork Belly Burrito ($12) was pretty good but not outstanding. The Steamed Bun Pork Belly ($5 each or 2 for $9) was yummy. It was very saucy and the pork belly was crunchy; I was actually contemplating of ordering more had I not been full already. Their Vietnamese Coffee was also good. Their service was some of the best customer service we experienced in Charleston (the servers from the other restaurants we dined weren't the friendliest). Would recommend this place 100%. read more

I'm a huge kimchi fan, and I know this isn't a kimchi shop, but I'd go back just for that. They have lots of specials and post frequently about them on social media. Burritos are huge, and an unbeatable deal when they are on special for $5 on Thursdays. Dogs are welcome outside, and they even have dog bowls available for water. Paws on the Patio features a different kind of dog every week, but all are welcome. Every pint of Revelry beer comes with a $1 donation that night for the Animal Society - good cheer all around! As far as service, it's counter service at the North Charleston location. Place an order, and take a number to your table. If you sit at the bar though, you have full service. I usually sit at the bar if there's room, and their selection of craft beers is locally focused and pretty good. They have a food truck and do private events too. I'm going to start giving a star just location. I am noticing a lot of quality spots coming to the hood. That is so awesome. And I can pull up and get a 3.5 and then drive less than a mile to get some super good eats this is a great world. Lol. The place was crowded the whole time I was there. Not too crowded but just right. You order your food what the cashier and then go grab it when it's done. They have a very nice wine selection also. I have to admit looking at the pictures before I came I was looking for a bit more. Wasn't really blown away by flavors and textures and such as I thought I would be. But it wasn't bad at all. The wings were decent but super soggy. Figured they would be crispy. But they were crazy at the skin had a very sorry texture. I don't know if it's the sauce they pour it on it all the things that come on top of it. They were like super fatty wings. Potato salad was decent definitely different. Then these last potatoes with their own vinegar. But they still came across as basic. The chicken and the steam bun was also decent the actual button was breaking apart and I wouldn't really call it steamed. But it wasn't bad. The burritos were decent. But again maybe I was expecting more based on the pictures I've seen. Nothing came across his mind blowing. The food comes fast enough. Let's talk about how much I LOVE Dashi! I was introduced to their awesomeness with their food truck. And OMG best fried rice I'd ever had. I gave my husband a taste of my food. Because it was scrumptious! He literally asked me to go buy two more of the same for dinner that night lol. After the food truck experience, we knew we had to go visit their brick and mortar. We were not disappointed! The restaurant has a fun and casual vibe. With seating indoors and plenty outdoors as well. The bar has a large window that if seated outside you have easy access to. There's also a small market area inside if you'd like to take products home. Fair warning, the parking lot is small. We lucked up and got a spot. But on busy nights you may have to park on the street. I got the duck ramen bowl. My husband the noodles. And yes, yet again so delicious! And a lot of food. I took half of my ramen bowl home. The bartender was very accommodating. We sat at the bar to eat/drink. That way we were indoors. But could see right outside and feel the breeze. I saw a tamarind sour on the menu. I love tamarind! It's not a flavor/fruit you see often on a drink menu. So I wanted to get a drink with tamarind. But I am not a fan of whiskey. I told the bartender. She asked what flavors I like.
