I would consider this Dash's Market a neighborhood grocery store. It's a little more expensive than a regular grocery store. I love their chicken sausages & fresh seafood. I had food catered to my daughters baby shower last month for an outside event. The experience was amazing! Joe Caccamise helped with everything from the decision making process, to delivering the food on time, and with everything exactly the way we requested it. Also Fran Baily, who selected the flowers for us was extremely friendly and helpful. She walked us to Joe personally and made the process actually fun. This review is for the grocery department only. I went in today just to see what the store looks like. I have never been inside a Dash's store because I live in the Southtowns near Wegmans. The store looks very well put together, it almost reminds me of the Whole Foods on Sheridan in Amherst. That's where my satisfaction ended for my visit. I went to go get deodorant, and to my surprise they were charging nearly FIVE DOLLARS for a stick of deodorant that was only $2-3 at Wegmans. And as we all know, Wegmans is not cheap! At the same time I needed to get shampoo. This was almost $9 when it's $6 at Wegmans. Wow! I didn't even buy that because I knew it was cheaper elsewhere. I don't understand the pricing here, but maybe it's just me. Otherwise it looks like a nice place to go grocery shopping. I went by the prepared foods area, just based on a cursory glance, I would say they could give Wegmans on Amherst a run for its money, and is no comparison to Tops. I wanted to give this two stars, but I didn't think it would be fair to do that right out of the gate. So my Mom and I decided to check out the new Dash's market on Hertel. From the outside the store looks great and definitely helps to perk up the neighborhood. It is huge with a big parking lot. When you walk in you are in the produce section which is displayed the way only Dash's does. Everything is so fresh and inviting and priced reasonably. Loved the meat, fish and deli counters, bright and displayed nicely. All of the staff we encountered were awesome too. We shopped for our groceries and decided to have lunch and finish after. So many reasonably priced choices. Mom and I split a turkey with cheddar and cranberry mayonnaise and a prime rib sandwich. Both were delicious! You order downstairs and go upstairs where they bring you your order. You are not allowed to bring your carts upstairs which is fine but they really don't have any where to put them while you eat. I did ask about it but was told they expected you to eat before you shop. I think I caught the staff member off guard as that was a dumb thing to say but I definitely recommend shopping and eating there! read more

I buy nearly all my beer at Dash's and they always refuse to redeem beer that they sell, have to drive to Wegman's. What's up with that? Prices are high as well. On 5/22/19, the new version of Dash's opened on the same site as the previous store and it's a huge improvement. The new store is over twice the size compared to before, has expanded all of the fresh departments, and now features a new Marketside Cafe with Spot Coffee and many made to order options. Also, the new store has added self-checkout, which is a first for Dash's. The second floor features a huge sit down cafe eating area and some community rooms that can be used for meetings. I have been in all of the Dash's stores and this by far is the best that they have come up with. The store environment is great with all the new features, yet also keeps the same neighborhood feel that the previous store had. It fixed the shortcomings and then launched many new things which are absolutely worth the drive. Job well done and I'll be back. read more

As a grocery store it's good, although I would have given another star if they were more consistent with their Covid safety protocols. Everytime I go there it is different and employees are rarely wearing masks...plus I've had too many bad experiences with the cafe (coffee/breakfast sandwich/acai bowl area) to count. Acai machine is often broken and they don't even put a sign up stating so. I've had staff forget to make my order completely so I have to wait twice the amount of time. Lack of consistency in how food is made. Once the "cheddar" (looked more like cheap orange American cheese) made me nauseous. Plus they are never friendly at the cafe. They have a sign up about being "understaffed" but I've never seen less than 4 or 5 employees there, they are just usually milling about in the back. The last visit my drink AND sandwich were made incorrectly from what I ordered. I tried to speak to the manager and it took a VERY long time to get both remade. When they were finally ready the manager took the sandwich away from me with no explanation. When I asked what was going on, she snapped at me and said she was going to get me a gift card...which she never told me. I asked for my sandwich and said she could bring the gift card to the tables outside. She came out and tossed the gift card on the table and was extremely rude. The gift card wasn't even labeled with an amount. I may go back for groceries but will never go to the cafe area again. I would also never purchase prepared foods at Dash's as they do not put ingredients labels on, or even if they do, they are a generic list of ingredients and do not seem accurate. This week's sale paper offered "Turkey off the bone" in the deli. Call me naive, i actually thought they meant a real roast turkey breast, sliced, would be for sale. Now, "Ham off the bone" was also on sale this week. Real ham, surrounding a bone! When my favorite deli clerk presented said turkey for my inspection, it was, alas, the ordinary deli ground, watered, salted, extruded and formed not really turkey breast. I asked her "Where's the bone?" She responded "NO BONE!" I asked her "is that really turkey?" she shook her head and said "ahhhh, no.". Shame on Dash's. NO BONE! read more

For a small local grocery store chain Dash is the best. They have fresh baked bread and pastries. Their pies are divine. They make a pineapple one and it's fresh pineapple. It's like one of those guilty pleasure hand held size fruit pies but so much better. The produce is very fresh and beautifully displayed. They have a decent selection of beers. The deli is great, they even have bacon and pea meal bacon that you can get sliced. The butcher is also amazing and puts Wegmans to shame in my opinion, even with the smaller meat area. The meats are fresh and reasonably priced - and WAY cheaper than Wegmans. Their sausages are great. They were out of ground pork one day and I asked for some - they fresh ground some pork for me in just a few minutes - and this was a busy Friday! Their steaks are very awesome too. Dash also carries some interesting things. I'm from the south and they have Cheerwine soda which was a happy surprise. They have fancy jams and sauces, other interesting sodas, local farm eggs, local dairy, and Sweet Jenny's icecream in a zillion flavors. Dash's ALSO uses ROSIE's Delivery service and you can have your groceries delivered if you live in Buffalo. It's only $4.99 for the service. Minimum purchase is $40. It's $2.99 to get them to shop for you, bag it up, and you can pickup at the store! I hate shopping and I've used this service a lot. I know the staff for Rosie aren't necessarily affiliated with Dash but they are just as helpful and nice as the Dash staff. If you live in Buffalo and you despise going to the Wegmans on Amherst since it's a never-ending madhouse (CF) I highly suggest trying Dash. I avoid Wegmans like the plague. Dash has better deli and meat products, and a decent enough selection of most other things to meet your normal grocery needs. Parking here is way easier than Wegmans too. You won't have to fight Amherst St. traffic, its crappy road quality or everyone and their grandmother who is also trying to go to Wegmans. If you need carambola or fennel or a wide variety of gluten free packaged garbage go to Wegmans, otherwise come to Dash! read more

I've been coming here for two years. They offer the basics, and then some, at generally reasonable prices (non grocery items tend to be higher than you'd find at CVS or other stores). One of my favorite items is their off-the-bone-ham in the deli. I've recently discovered their store made chicken sausage patties and chicken parm breaded cutlets. Another plus is the the fresh breads and locally sourced Italian pantry items. On occasion they have great seasonal sales on everything from flowers to pumpkins to pies. As has been noted, employees are friendly - with the exception of one completely jaded day shift checker (who barely grunts when you check out). Pretty decent beer selection. Surprisingly good seafood selection for a small store. There's a bill pay counter inside the store, too. read more

Checked the store on the weekend looking for new places to grocery shop. Came by this market from the high ratings. The prices for the fresh meat looked good so I picked up some packaged chicken and pork. I found it a bit weird the expiration dates weren't put on but I assumed it was fresh from the current day. I go home, unwrapped it and long and behold, the chicken smell like horrible rotten eggs and was sticks like glue and the pork had a funny smell to it. Meat was expired for quite a while but I guess no one buys it and they don't replace it. Definitely not shopping here again. read more

I live less than 10 houses from this newly renovated store and still will not shop here unless I'm absolutely desperate. The current price per gallon of whole milk is $1.89 at Wegmans. At this Dash, the least expensive option for 1 gallon of whole milk is $3.99. Even Family Dollar is less than that. This pricing isn't an isolated incident: all of their prices are inflated. Then there's the ever-present smell of fish which assaults you at the door and sticks to your clothes. If you have a vehicle and time, you'd be better off driving to Wegmans. read more

Went here a few times on my recent trip back to Buffalo. Was able to pick up some great local micro brews, like Great Leaks and Ellicottville. They had bags of spot coffee beans. Got my Perrier water fill. Needed some frozen waffles for the kids and they had some organic choices. I mean for a small corner market they had what I needed at fair prices. Its nice having something like this within walking distance from my in laws while staying there. I know they shop their bakery and produce too. Had some of their cold cuts like roast beef and turkey at in laws and they were delicious. No reason to drive to Wegmans or Tops all the time with a place like this close by. Dash's (previously a B Kwik market for the old-timers) is an older established market in North Buffalo on Hertel Avenue. I usually pop in there infrequently based on my schedule and my laziness, but when I get there, it's usually a treat to shop there. Granted, it's a smaller store with few aisles, but the Dash Family still managed to cram tons of regular staple products and UNIQUE items in there. A recent visit actually had me looking for sesame paste, and instead of doing a two bus trip to a Tops Market, I convinced myself that yes...Dash's would have it. A couple minutes of assistance from a cashier that was actually willing to help me find it with my rain covered glasses and an intervention from a manager...it WAS there! I've had their donuts. AWESOME. I wish could have bolded and underlined it. They are THAT GOOD. I've had their produce. They didn't need Walter or Wegmans to help them find the best out there. Their meat is fresh, the prices are reasonable or on par with the competition...and they're a local company that's always been loyal to the area. Their store is a gem on Hertel, and an asset...anchoring the east end of the Hertel Avenue business district. Count me as a happy customer when I get off my butt and get down there! Note: Read their ads online, or ask at the service desk and they will mail you an ad each week if you don't get it in a weekly delivered magazine. I'm really loving the new Dash's mostly because of the HUGE meat and fish counter. It is a great way to browse all the selections available and speak to the butcher if you have any questions. They have a large selection of seafood, steaks, sausages and marinated chicken. Dash's always seems to be a touch higher priced for normal day to day items, i generally get those elsewhere. Nice place to get some fresh meat and produce without seeking out (or in my case missing) your local farmer's market. It's definitely more pricey than I'm used to but they do run sales. All other packaged items are priced higher than your bigger supermarkets but do you really need to eat that stuff anyway?! Their meat case houses several varieties of store made sausage, chicken breasts, pork, many different cuts of beef, fish and seafood. Being from the SF Bay Area originally, my immediate impression upon entering was, "Oh, it's a Lunardi's." I know, that means pretty much nothing to most of you, but still, that was my exact feeling. These are the grocery stores of yesteryear, the ones that had excellent meat counters, good produce sections, are tiny and cramped, but full of excellent product. You can find a good selection of microbrews here, their fresh bakery items are delicious, their pre-made salads somehow fit inside a Tardis container, and all around they're a great place. That being said, because their prices aren't really competitive, I only go here if I'm at home and need a couple of items, and don't want to make the drive all the way to Wegmans. read more

Overpriced. As in it's even pricey compared to Wegmans. And make sure you ALWAYS check the expiration dates before buying anything! I can't tell you how many times I've noticed items that expired MONTHS before that were still on the shelves. Dash's (formally known as B-qwick RIP) has been in the neighborhood for years - I LOVE that I can walk around the corner to pick up something I forgot at a bigger grocery store or just frankly too lazy to drive to that bigger grocery store. Consistently Dash's has always had, friendly cashiers and workers, an excellent meat selection, plenty of parking, and a spot coffee to go station. Unfortunately there are some things Dash's needs to improve on in order to compete with other stores. Specifically, cleanliness. I understand this is a busy place but there is no excuse for dirty/old floors. Lately, I have also noticed the produce section is lacking in quality and freshness (even for in-season items) Overall Dash's is really just "a-ok" nothing spectacular but offers enough to get through the week. read more

Fran from the Floral department saved Mother's Day for myself and my wife. We ordered flowers a week in advance from another grocery store to be delivered to my mother-in-law, only to receive a text today at 2pm that they wouldn't be able to make the delivery. We were rushing to find some place to deliver flowers in Buffalo in short notice. (We live in Philadelphia and could not go up during this pandemic) Despite all their delivery people being busy, Fran selected a beautiful basket coupling and took our order to my mother-in-Law herself last minute for us and saved the day! After receiving no help and rude customer service from another big grocery store chain in Buffalo, we got the exact opposite from Fran and Dash's. So the food is pretty good, however the breakfast sausage is not, in my opinion. The biggest problem I found is that there is no consistency as far as being open, the (prepared food) section. We stop there every morning for break and one day it's open, the next day it's not. Today it's open but not for breakfast. For a brand new market you'd think ordering a pizza would be no problem. I ordered a club house pizza over the phone. The first person transferred me and no one answered after it rang at least 30 times. So I hung up and called the first number again and she said sorry and transferred me to a different number. I placed my order n9 problem, be ready in 20 minutes she said. My husband gets there and they said they didn't have a club house pizza even though it's on their website menu!! So he waited and brought home a lukewarm pepperoni mushroom pizza. Won't be ordering pizza there again. read more

Dash's is the closest grocery store to my house so I often run here for a few things here and there. I tend not to do my main grocery shopping here because they aren't as price competitive on everything. They do, however, have great prices on meats - including lunch meat. They have a good selection of fish too. Their produce always looks good and they carry a unique selection of Italian goods. I most recently find myself running up here when I need to bring a dessert somewhere - I LOVE their snickers cake. If you are lucky - you can find some manager's specials on the desserts that need to be sold by that day. read more

I am so disappointed with this new Dash's, it is dark and cavernous inside with the ceiling painted black. There is no scale in the produce department, the romaine lettuce is squeezed into this shelf and when you finally wrestle it out the top is torn and shredded, the prices have gone through the roof, and they no longer carry Lakeshore Pumpkin for pies. I have been using Lakeshore Pumpkin for the past 50 years, their pumpkin pie recipe is the best. I checked on line and both Wegman's and Tops are carrying it. I guess I am going to shop at those stores from now on. I have shopped at Dash's ever since they opened on Hertel after B Quick closed but now I am done. While the store is attractive the prices are not. They have also stopped carrying Adirondack seltzer and now Lakeshore Pumpkin, enough for me. read more
