Always my main spot for a lil something sweet. Love the donuts, service is good, and I can get in and out of the space quickly.

Dats is a staple in the community, never forget when one of my guy friends introduced me to them over 20+ years ago. However I must be honest since it's been connected to the bbq restaurant, the products have begun tasting like bbq. You can't taste the signature Dats flavor, and this has been my experience the last several times visiting there. Not sure what has to happen, but the store should probably stand alone so that the quality isn't compromised. Dats & Old Fashioned are superior to most donut shops. I'd love for Dats to remain in it's earned and honorable position for quality donuts. read more

Dat donut was a little challenging to find in Chicago. There is more than one store at this address inside the same building. I arrived before 8pm and was surprised to find a fair selection of donuts available. I selected a few and found them to be fairly fresh at such a late hour. I also found them to be moist, appropriately sweet, and delicious. This is the closest I have gotten to southern style donuts and I would definitely return for more. read more

The donuts were pretty good. I ordered delivery via DoorDash. Taste and texture was good as well. My only issue is I specifically put in my orders special request " Allergy to strawberry " and when I received my order it had a strawberry donut in there. So that was disappointing. The donut was touching three other donuts in the box. Allergies are serious and could be life altering. read more

Never had a disappointing experience, so I guess there's a first time for everything. Stopped in today and purchased a glazed yeast donut and tried for first time a German chocolate donut. Both was dry, the German chocolate was crunchy. Cake donuts should not CRUNCH. If I wanted a cracker I would buy a cracker. Thinking I was doing them a favor to call it to their attention to remove the questionable items - I was told " the glazed might have been left over ??? What? No seriously?? But the German chocolate was made fresh and is hand cut??? As if the hand effort negates a different type of cake donut . I was out $4. Not worth the effort to drive back. I believe in supporting my community but there are other bakeries I have not had any problem with freshness. I guess I'm leaving the hood y'all. Dat's my last donut. read more

I arrived at 8:50pm and wanted to order hoagies. I was told they had cleaned the hoagie station. Prior to coming, (all the way from the west near Pulaski) I called to put in my order but no one would answer the phone. So we came anyway especially when Google said it closed at 10pm. Arrived only to be told we couldn't buy hoagies because the station was closed and they are not making anymore. Then was told they actually close at 9pm. Dat Donut has been serving the community for years I love this place. I have buy at least three doughnuts when I come. The cinnamon swirls one are one of the best. Put them in the microwave and they are warm or get them when they come out. I have left a club ans came got some doughnuts. Okay if this want located in the same building with a barbecue place and a sandwich shop (meaning NO PARKING), in a spot surrounded by crime, I'd put it right up there with the best good old fashioned donut shops. The donuts are fresh and delicious. The lack of parking is a serious drawback, and I'm not walking very far to get donuts on that high crime corner. A security detail in the parking exceedingly small parking lot would go along way to securing a five star rating. read more

Although I appreciate the treats I get here periodically, I would pay a premium for better quality ingredients. I like the big dat for what it is, indulgence. My wife likes the lemon cake doughnuts too. However, dark chocolate or ganache is better for the body and taste buds than the cheap milk chocolate. Dat Donuts is by far better than any Dunkin Donut even if you got one fresh out the oven. Dat Donuts makes those other donuts feel like bricks (except Krispy Kreme). Very interesting set up. This donut shop is inside of a building that is another restaurant. It was confusing pulling into parking lot. Once inside you can see the donuts. We tried several different donuts. My favorite was the lemon. It was just like a lemon cake, very moist and super tasty. I also had the double chocolate which did not disappoint either. Tasty morning treats from friendly folks for a nice price. I'm on a mission (in its second decade) to try all of the apple fritters in northeastern Illinois. The Dat fritter is good, perhaps not great, but worth checking out. It's on the flatter side, so the edges are crispy, which is not my favorite. But the flavor was on point. Aside from that, the regular doughnuts were excellent, both cake and yeast-raised types. Even the next day they were still relatively fresh. Dat also serves breakfast egg sandwiches, which is a huge plus in my book. You can't really eat just doughnuts for breakfast, you know? But if you get an egg sandwich, then the doughnuts can be your breakfast dessert. The one I tried was sausage, egg, and cheese on toast, and it was way better than anything that you can get at a drive-through. read more

Quick stop here on Sunday morning. Been looking for some good strip mall donut vibes (something I miss about LA, and this was it. I've been seeing a decent amount of local chains and national chains here, and didn't want that so I'm glad I came here. Staff was friendly and got the three donuts I wanted quickly. Note that they do require a $3 minimum purchase in order to use a debit or credit card. My silly self didn't have cash on me so I had to use a debit card which I normally don't like to do for small businesses such as these. Anyways, I'll for sure be back if I'm in this area again. Excellent mom and pop donut shop. Southside staple for decades. Made fresh throughout the day. You can see the baker rolling out the dough and cutting out the donuts. It's pretty cool. My favorites are the buttermilk donuts and the old fashioned cake glaze. Best in the city! read more

Just watch your back the area but those glazed doughnuts are totally worth it!! They are massive, soft and delicious!! I was lucky enough to get my donuts right when they brought them fresh and hot from the kitchen. They carry several different flavors!! Caramel, German Chocolate, Strawberry, Boston Cream and Pineapple to name and few! They're open 24 hours a day except Sunday I believe (don't quote me on the day). Check em out!!! read more

Always excited to check out the local spots when I travel, and who doesn't like donuts?? I have been to Chicago many times, but never got around to trying this spot. Dat Donut is obscurely placed in a little plaza on the corner of the street, so it is easy to miss if you are not looking closely for it. When it comes to donut shops, I look for uniquely flavored ones. This place has your run of the mill flavors, and was not much to right home about. I ordered half a dozen for us to try a variety of what was offered. Pretty average in my opinion, and I spent close to $9 for that plus a specialty donut (German chocolate) that could not be included in the half dozen. The only thing that seemed to stand out were their oversized donuts. So if you are looking for out of this world donuts, this is probably not your spot, but you will definitely get some decent ones if anything. I wouldn't say it would be much different if you went to your local Dunkin Donuts. read more
