What an experience. My husband and I have wanted to try Dauphin's for years. Finally I decided to surprise him with a date night in honor of Fathers Day. When we got there, there was a pianist who also was singing and sounded just like Frank Sinatra. It totally set the mood for the night. We were shown the waiting area by the attentive hosts until our table was ready. We went to the bar where I was served the best mojito I've ever had thanks to Hannah. Our table was ready shortly after and Annie was our server. She was so polished and kind. She definitely added to our amazing experience. The view spoke for itself. You'll never see Mobile more beautiful than you will dining at night at Dauphin's. The food from the Bama Gump appetizer to the Rasta Pasta and Island Bread Pudding was 10/10. I'm so impressed. High prices with not so high food quality. The ambiance is top notch but it ends there. If this restaurant put a little more into the food quality they could be amazing. We didn't have a dish that blew us out of the water. I even returned a gumbo appetizer, which I've never done before at any restaurant. They were still packed out. This place was great. We went to this restaurant during happy hour and were the only people here. We walked in and was seated right away. We couldn't decide what we wanted from the menu so we ordered one of each off of their happy hour menu. We were not disappointed as we enjoyed every dish. The drinks were fantastic and not watered down and the staff was attentive and kept our soda refilled. We sat at the window which gave us a great view of Mobile. We even got to spend time with a regular who recommended some dinner favorites. Our favorite dish was the Poke which was fresh. The sliders were flavorful with just the right amount of meat. They do have a sign requesting for individuals to come in casually dressy attire, which is becoming a lost dress code that I'm happy they are encouraging. Came here for an anniversary dinner for the in-laws. We loved it! My fish was perfectly cooked, our waiter, Stevie P. was very attentive and took great care of us. My hubby was well pleased with his stuffed Flounder although it was fishy compared to my Sheepshead. (I tend to like really white flaky fish) We were thankful they had a kids menu. ;-) and the kids were served first. We made a reservation a week in advance and at the last minute found we needed to add one more to our party. They were very accommodating and seemed more worried about our being uncomfortable than about having to switch things up despite being booked solid. The squash was really good, but I didn't detect any coconut flavor in the other side dish and it just kind of tasted like a Uncle Ben's black beans and rice side dish. My fish was slightly overdone and the cornbread that came out before the meal was dry and cold. For such a nice place, I was definitely expecting much much more. If I have been here for dinner with those prices, I would have actually been pretty upset. On vacation and in the mood for a good steak, Dauphin's came highly recommended so we stopped in for dinner. We made reservations and arrived a little early so we had a pre-meal cocktail to start off with. Our bartender was friendly and greeted us warmly. I ordered an old fashion but was a little dismayed that a large orange slice was muddled into the drink. Not the classic version I'm accustomed too but not a total loss either so I powered through lol. Our hostess let us know our table was ready and walked us to our table. Located on the 34th floor and being seated by the window we had a great view of the city and the illuminated buildings in the downtown area. Our server came by and introduced himself and ran through the specials for the day and also made some wine recommendations. I decided to start with the poke' appetizer and it was absolutely delicious. Our server told us afterwards that the chef has just finished a stint in Hawaii and had recently added it to the menu, lucky for me. Next, I had the Gorgonzola, pear & baby spinach salad. Great contrast of the sweet pears and candies pecans against the Gorgonzola cheese, very tasty. For the main course I ordered the peppercorn crusted filet mignon. It came out a perfect medium rare. It was juicy and seasoned well. Finally, for dessert we treated ourselves to the white chocolate & sun dried cherry bread pudding a la mode. It was simply delicious. We had reservations, so upon arrival it didn't take long to be seated. Once seated, our waitress greeted us and brought out our waters. We asked questions about the menu and she made recommendations. We started off with the La Piña de Plata and the Thyme Out. The were both good and refreshing. Next, our waitress brought out complimentary bread with hibiscus butter and regular butter. The hibiscus butter was a nice complement with the bread. My fiancé and I both ordered the Gulf Shrimp Chowder. It was good and flavorful. For entrees, we ordered the Baldwin Farmer's Plate and two orders of the Mauvilla Platter. My fiancé and I split one platter because it's pretty big. The oysters and shrimp were really good, but we weren't crazy about the flounder. My fiancé's mom really enjoyed the Baldwin Farmer's Plate and his dad enjoyed the Mauvilla Platter. They had enough leftover to take home too. We also decided to order another round of drinks, which we ordered the Ramble On and Top Floor Margarita. Both were really good drinks! The view! Wow, absolutely breathtaking view of the city. We went downtown for Sunday brunch at Dauphin's. I had the Eggs Al la bama which consisted of fried green tomatoes, eggs, conecuh sausage, and potatoes. It was all covered in cheese and served with grits. Headed to this place on my first night and Mobile and wasn't particularly impressed. When I arrived, I was happy to learn they were on the 34th floor with amazing views! I sat at the bar which didn't face the views but was still close enough that I could see everything. Happy hour here is awesome with almost everything on their menu half priced (drink wise). I ordered a vodka Thyme drink which was tasty but a bit sweeter than I would have liked. Josh and Hannah were excellent bartenders and gave me advice on what to order. I had a Caesar salad to start and crab claws for my dinner. They brought the salad out with a chilled fork which made me feel fancy. Unfortunately, my main dish wasn't as exciting. The quantity was large, but as I began to dig into my crab claws I started realizing this ammonia smell in my dish. This smell indicates that the seafood has gone bad and has been stored improperly or for too long. The sauce also drowned out the flavor of the blue crab which I didn't prefer. They should give a butter and garlic only option. I complained and they took the crab off my bill. This was generous and appreciated; but a place as grand as this should never serve rotten seafood. read more

I was a little worried that I did not dress up more since the ambience was a little bit formal. They do not have a dress code but do not feel out of place. Maybe wear a button up or a nice top with jeans. Our waiter, Jimmothy was extraordinary! He had that "little something extra" that just made our experience feel like you were at a friend's dinner party. I recommend the make-your-own Bloody Mary. I ran out of room. Went here with a friend on a Tuesday afternoon. Place was quiet, quieter than I thought I'd be for dinner. Ergo, we pretty much had options for seats - which is beneficial for a restaurant at the top of building (more options for views). The hostesses were great & friendly, while letting us choose a great seat next to the window. The drinks were good and reasonably priced. The waitress was patient with us & very helpful. For appetizer we ordered the alligator bites - which were pretty damn good. For entree, I ordered the filet mignon medium well & my friend had the special of the day. I forgot which fish but it had crab on top of it & he said it was really good. My steak was cooked to perfection. No complaints. This is definitely an after-work-suit and tie/romantic dinner spot, mainly for Thurs-Sun I'm sure. This was a five-star experience all the way. Allow me to break it down for you. Dauphin's is a penthouse restaurant and the atmosphere has a luxe appeal that's looks and feels great. The saxophonist played beautifully throughout our experience. The service staff was incredible in every way and the view was spectacular. We had brunch and the presentations of our meals were impressive and tasted very good (four stars). We tried Chef Zucker's Smoked Gumbo Z'herb while we were on the Bienville Bites Food Tour a few days ago and it was incredible. Dauphin's has been on my list to try since our friends from mobile rave about it, so I had pretty high expectations coming here. Visited for brunch on a Sunday with a group of friends, we had reservations so we did not have to wait long at all. It is located in the top floor of the RSA building and you're definitely on top! Views were great in the am (mostly construction but you can see the pretty skies), I bet it's way prettier at night! I loved the atmosphere as well, very cozy. There was live piano as well, that was lovely. Our server was attentive no problem there. The portions of the food were also very generous but the quality of the food could be better. The potatoes that were served with the brunch entrees' were soggy and way too many onions on there, it was not crispy at all they were not edible. My friends definitely thought that the dinner experience was a solid 9 however brunch was a mere 5. I will have to give this place another try for dinner, I was a bit disappointed, surprising that the quality of food at different times is drastic. The 3 stars here are mainly for the atmosphere and service, I felt like the food was average, nothing to rave about, maybe next time will be different. read more

I went to Dauphin's for lunch because I have heard many great things about the restaurant. It's on the 34th floor of the RSA tower where the Bienville Club used to be located. The place is very elegant with an awesome view of Mobile, Mobile Bay, Mobile River, etc. They bring you sliced baguette bread with 2 types of butter when you first sit down. I found it very, very good. I started the meal with a Corn and Shrimp Chowder that was pretty good. Next I ordered a Caesar Salad with Grilled Shrimp. It was okay....it didn't blow me away like I was expecting. It also had what I guess was a vinaigrette dressing which was odd on a Caesar salad. Not my favorite, to be honest. The shrimp were not amazing either. I was underwhelmed with my meal so far after having such high expectations. For my main entree, I ordered the fish of the day which was Sheepshead, one of my favorite fish in the Gulf. They have 2 choices in sauce that you can get. I chose the Lemon Caper Sauce. I thought that the fish was a bit over-cooked, and I wasn't a big fan of the sauce. The sides are black beans with rice and a squash. Again, I was under-whelmed with both the fish and the sides. Overall a very average meal. I was expecting so much more, but I got a Baumhauers Wings type of meal with an awesome view. I went there for my birthday expecting a special experience and was sadly disappointed. The waitress was a cold batch who forgot to give us water. She claimed we had to ask for it. The water was chilled but had no ice nor Lemons. She claimed we had to ask for that too and never brought us Lemons even later..... My shrimp and grits looked like vomit, my cocktail had very little alcohol if any.... My friend's fish was mildly ok but the Mexican black beans did not go with the fish and actually made her sick. I was especially pleased with the wait staff of Shea and young male waiter, forgot name but he's pursing his online Bus Admin degree. Dauphin's was very accommodating to my lactose intolerance allergy and even gave me a special dark chocolate bon bon. Shrimp cocktail was yummy and fresh. Went to Sunday "brunch" for my Moms' 85th birthday. As always, the view and service was impeccable. We originally wanted a table for 10 but was told we couldn't have that many so 2 of our group did not attend! They had a very talented jazz/saxophone player but...he was positioned right next to our table, the first one as you enter the dining room and too LOUD for it to be enjoyable. We couldn't even hear the waitress from the end of the table much less ourselves talk to one another. We asked that he tone it down a bit...he said he did but pretty sure he didn't and if so, not nearly enough to make the music enjoyable. They should have positioned him more into the middle of the bar area. My husband had the breakfast omelet with grits that had been plated so long they were barely warm and had actually become hard across the top! The potatoes were room temp and no flavor. (His Bloody Mary's were good however). I had the Eggs a la Bama...same thing with my grits and potatoes. The eggs were good but the fried green tomatoes were sliced so thin there was barely anything to them. The other six people in our party had similar disappointments. I've been to Dauphins many times before; NEVER before have I had such a let down in the food. Sadly, this was my first time at Dauphine's! It was superb! I met my sister and Dad for lunch and nothing disappointed. I had the poke bowl which packed a nice kick, my sister got the Caesar Salad which was delicious and my Dad got the Friday special and loved it. Our server was super nice, well everyone we came in contact with was super nice and hospitable! My son (3) had the kids grilled cheese sliders and fruit, he didn't eat much at all but I am pretty sure the view was overwhelming him and he was itching to get back to the square to see the very friendly squirrels.
