Came right at 4 for dinner on a Tuesday. Happy hour was still going on (3-6:30). My co workers and I aren't from the area and weren't aware of the dress code. Gentlemen have to wear collared shirts. So we couldn't sit in the main dining room, but we sat in the front area near the bar. I had the thyme out cocktail. It was a little sweet, but I don't mind sweet. We started off with the Junkanoo fries. Sooo good. That cheese sauce was delish. Ate them too fast to get a picture. My co worker had the poke, she enjoyed it. My other co worker had the Rasta pasta with chicken, he enjoyed that as well. And I had the port royal chicken. The chicken was packed with flavor. Rice was a little undercooked but over all I really enjoyed the dish. For dessert we shared the chocolate cake and the bread pudding. The chocolate cake was warm & delicious. This restaurant is in again that I used to frequent weekly, The Bienville Club, ah good times. The subtle renovationshave make this beautiful restaurant a "must try" any day of the week. If it's for lunch or dinner, the views are absolutely amazing, the food is delicious and customer service is top notch. I've been here a few times and wanted to make sure it was consistently good before I left a review. So here we are. It was consistently good both times. I made a reservation for lunch on OpenTable a few days in advance the first time and just a few hours in advance the next time. Both times, I called to confirm and everything was set. I chose lunch so I can try a few menu items. It's inexpensive at lunch time, most of the entrées are around $11 ea and mini desserts are $3 ea. They offer weekly lunch features and well as some of the same dinner entrées in lunch size portions. The Chicken sandwich is huge so I didn't get it either time. My guest enjoyed it very much and had plenty leftover to take home. I've enjoyed the Shrimp and Grits, Nana's Fried Chicken, Friday flounder, Key lime pie, chocolate cake and Chicken & Goat cheese chowder. Located on the 34th floor of an office building, the restaurant offers amazing views. I sat at the bar since I was alone. My bartender Bri was outstanding. There were several menu choices since I was at 4pm. The happy hour menu from 3-6pm an the early bird menu I think from 4-6pm, not 100%. I chose several apps, the West Indies crab,great quality and plenty to share, but not the way that I like my blue crab. Then I had the poke. Very tasty and another large portion. More rice than needed, but there was definitely not lacking in the tuna department. This dish came dressed with some kind of amazing pecans. They were incredible. The amazing part was the tiny pice of pickled ginger under each pile. What a great flavor combination. Last and the best was on Bri's suggestion that I get the gator appetizer blackened. A perfect date-night dinner! With everything going on in the world, I was quite overwhelmed with how great our dinner was. Don't go to Dauphin's expecting some sort of Applebee's set-up. It's VERY pricey - but absolutely worth it. From the homemade whipped butter & bread, to the scrimptions flourless chocolate cake - everything Dauphin's has to offer will make you question what food is anymore. We had a delicious hibiscus honey-butter & home-made bread to start off with (it's complementary) and I gotta say - I still think about that butter to this day. Five stars for certain. On the latest episode of Fine Dining in Mobile Alabama....we decided to try something new. The Mobile Stew was as good as the description suggested on the menu. Flavorful and chunked full of my seafood favorites. Shrimp, Oysters, sausage and crab. So good. Also found out happy hour drinks are half price. Yum yum. The Manhattans were 3 of the best I've ever had. 1/2 price made them taste even better. Top notch experience went to our vantage point. We were able to watch the parade from our table. This was a nice treat at the end of a long conference day. I went with my boss and two other colleagues and we all had a nice meal and drinks. I was very excited about the Pimm's cocktail, which was refreshing, per usual. For dinner, I had the Airline Chicken. It was juicy and very flavorful. The mash and green beans were equally well-flavored. Bread and butter cake first, and one of the butters had sweet hibiscus in it, so it's pink. The meal also ends with a smoking pot of melt in your mouth chocolate truffles, which was unique, and a conversation piece for the table. Although I think it's early for such things, the restaurant is fully decorated for Xmas, and it is very pretty. It doesn't outshine the spectacular view you have from being 33 floors up though! (The restaurant is on the 34th floor, but the building, as it traditional, does not "have" a 13th floor). read more

I wonder where we went wrong with this place -I feel like we should have seen through the "lipstick on a pig," but didn't. It has all the initial appearance of a nice restaurant, but once you start looking for the cheap and tacky, you can't miss it. First of all - let me get this out of the way. The waitress was delightful. She was the only redeeming thing in the entire restaurant. From there, it just goes downhill. The crab claws were tasteless. The gator bites were good. The main courses were terrible - we didn't even eat them. The shrimp in the shrimp and grits were cleaned out, but the shrimp that was fried and covered, had not been cleaned out. The oysters were inedible. The problem with this restaurant isn't Covid related - they're just problems with the food. No way to fix that, except don't make the same mistake we did. We came here the night before Thanksgiving and we called around 3pm to make reservations, and the earliest available seating was 7:15pm - which was absolutely perfect. The staff here are superb! Every single person working here were the nicest and most intentional people in Mobile, AL. I ordered the Rasta Pasta with Chicken and the chicken tasted like fish - yuck!! And the chicken was overwhelmingly salty. I was unable to even touch the chicken, let alone finish the pasta. I will say that the only saving grace was their Manhattan, which helped me swallow the salty and fishy chicken pasta. My husband and his family ordered the Steak Diane, which came with shrimp on the side --- what a nice surprise, because it's currently not listed on the menu and they recently just made this change. My husband ordered his steak medium rare, but unfortunately, it was overcooked and was actually medium. However, he still enjoyed the steak because he'll eat anything. My family also ordered desserts they enjoyed every single bite of it. The bonbons were a nice surprise at the end, but I didn't want to try it for the fear of it tasting like fishy chocolate. To get to Dauphin's, enter through the main building doors and then take the elevator up to the 34th floor. Make sure you don't get onto a service elevator like us --- where we couldn't even get to the 34th floor. The view isn't as great at night, so I might come back during the daytime to see all the great things around the area. I will say that they did not enforce the dress code at all, because I saw a man with cut up jeans and a t-shirt. read more

We drove from Miami to New Orleans and wanted to stop off in Alabama for food and drinks to say we were in Alabama. I found this place because it's not far from the interstate, had no clue on how it was. I didn't realize it was on the top floor of the building. Also didn't realize this was an upscale establishment, we showed up wearing shorts and a t shirt since we were on a road trip. The staff here were VERY nice and didn't look at us strange for not being in our Sunday best. My wife and I were both expecting high prices to match the staffs attire and beautiful setting. We opened the menu and were greatly surprised at the affordable pricing. I ordered the shrimp tacos and they were outstanding! I wish I remembered the young ladies name who helped us but she was nice and very bubbly. The views from this establishment are amazing. I've only been to Alabama once before and that was for basic training and I didn't get to see the state. If I ever come back to this area in Alabama, I will return here! Dauphin's is definitely the talk of the town and the best dining view of the town, too! I've visited for Sunday brunch on two separate occasions, and again for cocktails with a view. Trust me, the "Thyme Out" is totally worth the trip! But back to brunch, the Beef Grillades is delicious. I can appreciate a savory, beefy gravy with my grits. That was a brunch first for me. I have also kept it simple with the traditional egg breakfast w/ sausage and grits-- also great. In the dessert world, I must say that Dauphin's presents one of the most gorgeous Creme brûlées I've ever seen. Went in last evening with one child and another adult. We ordered a cheese plate and a children's grilled cheese slider plate with fruit. The sliders were dry and the cheese was hard. It's not hard to make a grilled cheese. It was inedible. The cheese board looked like all the cheese came from a giant Costco bag o' cheese. It's was so unappealing. The fruit was days old and mush. This is a beautiful place and it's resting on its location only. I can't recommend it to anyone who's interested in eating. Dear Dauphins Waffle House is beating you in food quality at this point. First- this restaurant is on the 34th floor, requires a reservation and has a dress code. We did not know about the dress code but they were accommodating and seated us in the room before the dining room. Worked out just fine. A collared shirt is needed for men to be in dining room. We had a fantastic dinner at the Dauphin on the eve of Thanksgiving. It was quiet and the service was excellent. The views from up high were nice. We had the Filet Mignon, the Steak Diane, Tuna Poke, Garden Salad and the Fish of the Day (sheepshead). Every single item was delicious. The steaks were tender and seasoned so well. The poke had a perfect blend of sauce. The sheepshead is a flakier fish and paired so well with the sauce they put on it. We ate every morsel and it was perfect. I had a fantastic lunch here with my husband and my mother in law. The restaurant is beautiful- the city views are awesome. Our waiter, Jimmathy, was great. Funny and friendly, attentive but not overly so. There is a lot of choice on the lunch menu. We shared a spinach salad to start- it had goat cheese, strawberries, pecans and balsamic- and it was delicious. For our meal, my mother in law had the drum which she said was delicious. My husband had the lunch deal with Cuban bbq pork, Black Beans and corn. He enjoyed it, but said the sauce was a bit strong. I had the rooster sandwich- chicken, cheese and bacon- it was messy to eat but very flavorful. I had plantain chips on the side. For dessert we shared the key lime pie and the flourless chocolate cake. The pie was tasty but super sweet. The chocolate cake was divine. I highly recommend! read more

I was pretty disappointed with my first experience here. We came for Sunday Brunch. I was really looking forward to something delicious. I had a nice time because I was there with friends. The biscuits with whipped hibiscus butter were yummy and the sax player played beautifully. We started with the "Beignets á la Dauphin's" with mango sauce. There were five 1"x 1 1/2" beignets. We had trouble locating the mango sauce but they were good enough and we happily ate them. My entrée was a bit sad. I ordered the chicken and waffles. The chicken itself was pretty good. It had great flavor and was nice and hot. However, the eggs and waffles were not edible. The waffles were cold in the center and hard (I was really expecting some delicious Belgian Waffles.) I kind of hope they were not made that day because they tasted like they must be old, stale or dare I say.... still slightly frozen. They were bad. I always eat my food but I was not able to eat them. If those were made that day they have greater issues to deal with. I took one bite of my eggs (they were cold) and tried a little of the waffle. In the end I just ate the chicken and was super grateful for the biscuits. My husband ordered a bowl of "Gumbo Z'herb" which he said was nothing like gumbo and just tasted like a bowl of greens with a few pieces of sausage in it. I definitely was not blown away in the slightest And question whether I would come back to try dinner. I'm leaning heavily toward NO right now. Go for the views! The food is consistent, but it's the views that will get you, especially at dusk. This is a romantic place to have dinner, but their lunch and brunch menus are solid. We went for lunch today! Super affordable and delicious! I started off my lunch with the soup & salad ($9). The soup was shrimp chowder and the salad was a Caesar salad! Both were delicious! Honestly, I was pretty full after this and I could have just eaten that as a meal and been fine! I did get an entree however! I got the shrimp tacos ($11) and they were AMAZING. I forgot to take a picture of them. They have a yummy slaw on top and are served with sidewinder potato wedges. So good!!! And you can't beat the view!
