First time trying Dave's and it was great. The wife and i shared the 2 slider combo one hot one mild, came with crinkle cut fries and kale slaw. Everything was so fresh and hot. We took it to our hotel across the street and our fries were still crispy. The cashier was very helpful and asked if we had been before and we said no. Well he explained all the varieties and combos they offered. Just a heads up each tender is approx 1/4 lb so the sliders were more of a sandwich. I will definitely try it again. read more

I read the reviews and this is a popular restaurant. I noticed they have a location by TCU too! Here's what I discovered. I love the atmosphere but the windows were tinted pretty dark so, it looked like it was closed. However, it was not. There were quite a few people inside. The music was on and the temperature inside was just right but the temperature of the Cashier was not. She seemed like she was in a bad mood and she didn't want to take my order and was rushing because, she was talking so, fast I couldn't understand her. I ordered a Slider and Fries. The Chicken Strip was hearty, a lot bigger than Raising Canes, that's for sure. The taste was lacking. Ugg, it did not have a good taste. I do not know what seasoning they used but, it was not to my liking. The Fries were dry and flavorless. In sum, it was not yum. Service was slow and rude. First time trying Dave's... We ordered the chicken slider and tender meal, then a side of Mac & cheese. I got the light mild and my boyfriend got the medium. The light mild had no heat and the medium had very little. Honestly, I don't handle heat that well, so if I can tolerate it and you like heat, then maybe go higher than a medium. With that said, it has a lot of seasoning on it, but it still felt under-seasoned with the salt. Maybe they don't salt it much because it has the sauce on the side, but the sauce wasn't that good, so if you don't want to eat it with that, maybe try it with ketchup or ask for some salt. The fries however, were really yummy and had the perfect crisp. The Mac cheese was too runny and the pasta was too soft for my liking. For our drink we got the peach iced tea, and oh my, that was yummy!! Overall, it was pretty good. Not sure if I'll go out of my way to eat it again, but maybe, if I'm in the area. read more

Knowing what I now know and ordering accordingly, I had a great meal. I ordered the bites instead of the full tenders and really liked them more than the big tender. The breading to chicken ratio was higher but that meant more crisp and more flavor. I'm not a fan of their sauce but learned it's shared to help cool down your mouth if the spices are too much for you. I previously visited Dave's Hot Chicken and had a good experience but with some flaws. However, customer service reached out so I visited Dave's Hot Chicken again. This time, everything was so much better, from the service--which was already superb from the beginning, to the food. We ordered two meals of Dave's #2: one with two hot, and one with a hot and extra hot. We also ordered a side of Kale Slaw with them. Because the spice levels aren't where it should be, everything hot and under doesn't taste as great as it should be. However, if you'd like to have a good amount of flavor from your slider, start by ordering the extra hot level. At this point, the spice still hasn't kicked in yet, but the flavor is completely different from what you'd get with the hot. As for the Kale Slaw, it was a bit dry but still delicious. The customer service was SUPERB, possibly the best I've ever encountered. There was no wait, and the food came out promptly. The staff there was so friendly and kind, ensuring we had what we needed to make the best of our stay. Overall, this past visit really changed my outlook on Dave's Hot Chicken. I've visited the other location in FW and this location just didn't impress or wow me. The prices are expensive, I think for the slider combo it came out to $16 or something!! The chicken didn't seem as big as the other location. It's a tasty slider but for the price - more chicken would be nice. I really like the buns they use. Fries were good as is the Dave's sauce. The employees gave us free stickers with our order (which was nice) but weren't as attentive as at the other location. I think this store has only opened in the past week or so - so I'm hoping they sort their kinks out - good location for the TCU students - apart from the prices!! read more

$&@#ING EPIC! I don't know how I avoided this chain for so long, but leave it to the proximity by TCU to pull me into a fried chicken restaurant (it's either fried chicken or pizza parlors). I'll spell it to you this way; I tried Dave's on Tuesday for lunch and have been back every single day of my work week. And I wasn't the only one. Several TCU faculty are regulars as well as class man. Even during the summer where students are scarce, construction is plenty, and things are hot, this place is jumping. I get the Lite Mild rub on my Dave's #1 because of my whimpy mangina for spicy food, and it's plenty kickin'. Like others have said, two tenders is a lot because it's full breast meat, but get what you want. I'll do a slider on odd days which is the same huge dry rub breast in a bun with slaw and pickles. They give you honey and the house sauce (paprika mayo dip) on top of bread with a bunch of seasoned fries. Not heart healthy but definitely gut filling. Two things: you will get sleepy thirty minutes later. Between the generous portions and carb loading, a nap is in short order. Second thing is you will crave chicken tenders for the next few days, even if you had these guys all week. They're not the cheapest (being close to campus causes a $4 markup on most places), but they are spectacular. And finally, a shoutout to the amicable young hostess at this location who remembers just about everyone who comes in here and is extra sweet to the customers. She not only greets others with a smile but walks the lobby to see if people need condiments/towels. Customer service is always a b!tch when you're young, and she's killing it. read more

I got medium for both my sandwich and my tender, giving them both a good spice but nothing overbearing. I also like the sauce that the fries came with and how the fries were seasoned as well. This review is about take out: First the website was quick and easy to order from. It said it would be ready in about 10 min and by the time I got there it was ready. A big plus is the parking. Near TCU that can be tricky. Most places have none and you have to find a street spot that might not be near. Dave's has a great parking lot. I parked quickly and went to the order and got my food. We live and learn but I guess I should've paid more attention when ordering. They do call them "sliders" so it's my fault. I guess what confused me was the price. For 1 "slider" and fries my total was like $10 or $12. I was scared to death to order a drink because I didn't have time to take out a loan to complete the purchase.
