I tried Dave's for the first time yesterday. There is a fairly new one near me in Cathedral City. I found it superior to Raising Cane's in several ways. For one thing, the chicken--unlike Cane's--has FLAVOR (Cane's only has flavor if you dip it in their sauce). Second, also unlike Cane's, the coating is crispy and delicious. I like the choice of spice levels (I had medium, but I might go up a level). My husband had a side of mac and cheese that he said was very good. I had the kale slaw, which was delightful. It had lots of textures and flavors and didn't swim in mayo like you find at, say, KFC (KFC s*cks, ewwww). The other chicken place I might compare Dave's to is Popeye's. I like Popeye's but some of the stores are not as good as others; they are inconsistent. I don't know if that is true with Dave's, since this is the only one I have been to, but it is excellent. As for service, there were two women at the counter. I got served by the more cheerful of the two, and she was very nice and we joked a little about Cane's. I also liked the graffiti art, but I would say that if you are going to go all-in with urban, you should lose the lovely wood wainscotting and tables and go with concrete and steel. That would have completed the look ;) In conclusion, I have found my new chicken place, and I will be back for more! read more

Fries - great, Coleslaw - great. I am really a fan.
