Coming from Nashville, the home of Nashville Hot Chicken, I was surprised how much I enjoyed Dave's Hot Chicken! I tried the #1 which had two tenders (I chose extra hot) and I elected to try the Kaleslaw, which was very good. The only unfortunate things that was a little bit disappointing was that they didn't have a 3,4,5,etc. tender portion unless you jumped to the catering options and 10 tenders. And they didn't have bone-in wings. The service was phenomenal! Fabulous help for my first time trying this place out. And they even had Sweet tea. If you like Nashville Hot Chicken, give them a shot, just realize you're not gonna be full...they really need a 3 and 4 tender option added to the menu. read more

It's terrible how a drive-thru line consisting of 3 cars can still take 30 minutes here. I'm trapped between 2 cars and floored that I'm still waiting! I got the food eventually, it's pretty standard and as good as Dave's you know is. If you haven't had it yet, go for it, but maybe try going inside at this location. read more

Yesterday I took my son here for the first time. My son was super excited to get boneless wings and fries. I asked the person at the register which flavor was similar to Buffalo sauce, he said mild. My son wanted something a little less hot so I ordered him light mild. We did have to wait a while but it's understandable as the place was very busy. After getting the food home, my son said he didn't like the flavor of the saucy bites he said it had a different flavor than he was expecting. It was different to me too and then I realized it was a dry rub and not a sauce like flavor, but it was still good IMO nonetheless. He did like the fries and sauce so he ate that. Nice to see Leadership like that! Food shows it also! Everything was super fresh, so delicious! Highly recommend the Mac n Cheese! Creamy, cheesy, incredible! Watching Jess eat it for the first time, discovering a new "go-to" chicken spot was awesome! She got the cauliflower bites and she did a happy dance they were so good! This review is based on the reaper sandwich alone. I've ordered from Door Dash a few times so I can't speak of wait times or the restaurant itself. I ordered a Dave's #4, the single slider with fries. The star was the chicken. It was moist and tender, and paired really well with the slaw and pickles. Loved how they loaded up on the pickles, too! Fries were fine, nothing too special. My main issue is that I ordered a medium spice level, but it wasn't even spicy at all (and this is coming from someone with very low spice tolerance). Also, I'm personally not the biggest fan of the sauce - it runs on the sweeter side and I wish it was little more tangy/had more of a punch. read more

I've tried Dave's before and I was disappointed. There's really nothing impressive about a few pieces of dry toast. I went back today to try their mozzarella squares and they were completely sold out. Fine. It happens. I order a "vanilla shake" with a cereal topper. The thing is more than $10. I also ordered a side of Mac N Cheese. That was it. Pretty simple. My order got lost. I don't know how. There was only a single person that ordered before me. After 10 minutes of waiting for my number to be called I approached the counter. There was a girl who was very nice in taking my order but it seemed like she was new. Also fine. She scrambled to find my order once she realized I'd been waiting longer than I should have. The Mac N Cheese gets bagged up, and it looks like I paid a dollar per bite. They also make my "shake". It is literally soft serve placed in a large cup with a scoop of cereal on top. No mixing. No blending. No shaking. There is so much empty space in here I feel like they just stole from me. I should have trusted that small voice telling me to remember my last experience. I won't be visiting again. Even if they manage to restock the mozzarella squares. Stay away. I think the chicken is so goood. The fries are good but fries are cheap compared to the chicken.... Don't be so stingy with them. Just sayin. #3 with tax is $14.64 about the norm these days, the chicken is big. My only bitch is I got in the drive through at 1:21 and did not get out until 1:53 and there was only 3 cars in front of me. Stopped by on a Tuesday night around 9. Grabbed four #2 combos (2 sliders, fries) and a couple drinks. Pick your level of spicy: I got the reaper and extra hot in my combo. They make you sign a waiver for the reaper! It was spicy, but I've eaten hotter. The four of us enjoyed our food. Ranges from medium to hot for the others. The sliders were good, big piece of chicken. Pickles were nice and thick slices, good flavor. Fries were ok, not a lot of them. Definitely a worthy chicken sandwich option. Service was great. Counter staff was helpful and friendly. Bathrooms were definitely clean. Inside was clean but not real big. Good sized patio area for when it's warmer. Drive thru option too. I would never come here again Over priced plain flavorless greasy food. You have a better chance enjoying microwaveable dinners. Honestly ordered a combo with a regular drink and a small shake (lil treat) $32 crazy I would've rather spent that 32 eating at a restaurant that's food is enjoyable. To say the least I would not reckoned this place to anyone. Anywhere you have to go and dap off excessive amounts of grease and add salt AND pepper to season the food is redundant in my opinion. I'd rather go to the grocery store and buy premade food over this "fresh to order" buffoonery. To each their own though. First time ever trying Dave's.... I went through the drive-thru and ordered a #4 - slider and fries. They have several spice levels. I debated between mild lite and mild, eventually choosing mild. Drinks do not come with their combo meals. The order arrived quickly and my initial reaction was that the sliders are HUGE. The fries had that tummy spice mixture on it. The slider had cole slaw, a pickle and some kind of sweet mustard. The meals came with extra pickles and a sauce. Chicken was good but a little chewy. 3.5 stars: Limited menu --Chicken portions are significant. Sauce on the side is pleasant not too spiced however, I am not a fan of the rub (I'm assuming it's dry). Note you can choose your spice level. There is an aftertaste which is subjective -- so if you enjoy a dry rub you'll probably like it . Dave's Hot Chicken was created by best friends Dave Kopushyan, Arman Oganesyan, and Tommy and Gary Rubenyan. Dave, a chef trained in Thomas Keller's (French Laundry) organization set out to create the perfect Hot Chicken by searching, tasting, and frying. The four friends scrounged up $900 to put a tiny stand in an East Hollywood parking lot. The menu was simple, and chicken was the star. And what chicken it is! Sourced and prepared to be the juiciest and most tender imaginable with each piece topped with Dave's own mix of spices ranging from "Mild" to "The Reaper". Arman created Instagram buzz and the lines began to grow. Two nights later, Eater/LA showed up to see what the fuss was about. The next morning's headline read "East Hollywood's Late Night Chicken Stand Might Blow Your Mind". Almost instantly, the lines stretched around the block. A year later, the boys had the money to open a shop in a hip strip-mall with de_cor by local street artists, where the crowds continued to grow with wait-times of an hour and more. From there, the incredibly craveable "Hot and Spicy" varieties have created a cult following with rave reviews across the U.S. and Canada.

History

Established in 2017.

In 2017, four childhood friends came up with a simple concept -- take Nashville Hot Chicken and make it better than anyone else in America. With only a couple thousand dollars to their name, they boot-strapped a pop-up concept in a parking lot in East Hollywood serving a simple menu of tenders, sliders, fries, and kale slaw -- they created a viral cult following with lines consistently over an hour long. After 6 months of running the pop-up with long lines, the team took the plunge and opened their first physical store in January 2018 in a sleepy strip center in East Hollywood. Demand for their crave-able hot chicken exceeded all expectations and sales have grown every month since opening with consistently long lines throughout the day.

You dismissed me. She claimed she had 3 online orders before I got there. She stated she found my order. I reminded her that I placed my order 25 minutes before I even got there. She then apologized again,while defending the fact she was "so busy" I stated that "being so busy" has nothing to do with customer service. I asked for management. She said they would be back on Monday. What a let down. What a shame that people With no customer service have to work in it just to have a job. I have sympathy and understanding to a certain level. But now I'm out the $20 I spent on a terrible sandwich from the neighboring store plus my expectations and business from what I was expecting to be an amazing sandwich. (I know this was long,sorry) lol. All and all,awful from start to finish. Don't go here expecting anything beyond what an employee is forced to do. PS,still waiting for my refund.

Other than that; no complaints. Service I've heard is super nice and I can report that it still is. Super friendly mom and pop sandwich shop making some very good sandwiches. Can't discuss ambiance yet until I can make my way down to see it for myself. This sandwich took me by surprise. For $13 you get a ten inch sub. It was packaged nice, it looked big and full of meat. Bonus there cause alot of places get skimpy, they sure don't. The inclusion of mayo was different but not bad, It gave an added butteriness to the overall flavor which was nice. The meat itself was seasoned, maybe a little over salty at first, but again, this sandwich was one that really grows on you. The bread was soft, a little chewy but added to the texture to add another positive note. It was a sandwich so good, it was absolutely worth finishing. It's made me want to come back and try out a cold sandwich and even the Mexican food they have on the menu. I'm big on an Asada Burrito and they make one! So can't wait for the next time to come down and give them another try!

When I tried to talk to a manager, the person I called at the store stated that he was the manager. But he couldn't process a refund, or help us in any way, In fact, he said " that's a tomorrow problem". Additionally, when he said that there was nothing he could do, he kind of chuckled and then hung up on me when I asked for his manager's phone number. Eventually I called other locations in town and found out the general manager's name, But after calling, leaving a message and explaining my situation even after four days, I still have not received a call back from anyone. So...yea.....this isnt a one location issue...idk but I do know that If you're looking for something for dinner, maybe try a different location ir a different comoany, because this one is NOT IT

This place is amazing. Very casual and amazing food. We shared THE GREEK sandwich w gyro, 'the works' toppings, AMAZING. There is casual seating in the Deli, but there is also another restaurant from the same entrance. We didn't check out the restaurant side, but the casual setting in the deli was fine for lunch.
