For some reason this location lacked in the spice department. I have had Dave's many times before but for some reason this place had smaller sandwiches. Not only were the sandwiches smaller but they also didn't really have too much flavor. Now I've tried the hot and extra hot in the bay and it has a kick. So when I brought my dad in to try it I recommended he get the medium and I got the hot. They literally tasted exactly the same. No difference and he tried a piece of mine and said it was basically the same thing. Now, I'll admit that the smaller portions were actually better in terms of the belly but the taste, meh. I'll start off and saying this is my personal opinion. The service was good. Fast service, great accuracy of order taken, fresh food, fast at getting my food. Now for my opinion. The flavor for me was not that great. The sauce is good. That Mac a cheese is ok nothing crazy just your regular Mac and cheese. The heat was good. Did not like the slaw or the pickles. They kinda killed the sandwich for me. Did not eat all my food. Left me with a long lasting burping effect. So over all I will give them 3 stars nothing to talk down on and nothing to brag about. Ordered through the app on Sunday, April 30th. I love Dave's hot chicken and am so glad a location opened in Visalia. Pick up was easy, but I didn't check my bag before I left.. They forgot one of my fries order (I ordered 2) and I was already home by the time I checked. No honey or utensils even though I marked it on the order so just a little disappointed. While I think medium will be fine for most people, Hot should be a good level for people that can take a little heat and not sensitive to spice. Nicholas really brought his A game and was friendly and helpful in regards to any questions that the customers had. Of the 2 sliders I got, the chicken in one of them was a bit on the small side, but this was made up for by the ENORMOUS piece of chicken in the other slider. The bigger piece of chicken was thick, moist, hot, and in general pretty delicious. The spice does have a strong taste of sodium, but perhaps that's to be expected. This is our second visit here, the first was on opening day. The wait isn't bad for as many people that are ordering. The chicken is juicy and flavorful, definitely one of the best fast food chickens in Visalia. My husband got the reaper heat on opening day and he said the flavor was great despite the heat. He said the medium one is the perfect heat. I got the no heat and the chicken still had so much flavor. The fries are great, well seasoned and crispy. The Mac and cheese wasn't my favorite, but it was still okay. The inside of the building was such a fun atmosphere and will be a great place to eat inside once the crowds die down some. Several heat options, from no heat up to reaper. I got the hottest possible chicken slider--had to sign a waiver! I just wanted to focus on the chicken, so I had them take off the sauce, pickle, and slaw. (I did add a little honey, but that was it.) First bite, no problem. Second bite, still going strong. After about thirty seconds, the wave of heat started to hit my mouth. I finished it and then sat back to enjoy the increasing intensity which peaked after several minutes and stuck with me for at least twenty more. The breading was perfect--great texture, not too thick, didn't fall off the chicken. Chicken itself was fresh and tender, not rubbery or tough. The potato bun was fresh and soft. The fries (not pictured) were great and cooked perfectly without the taste of old oil that you can get at some places. Coke products to drink, including Zero and Cherry, so everyone was happy. Basic menu, but they focus on one thing and do it well. Prices were higher than Raising Cane's, but given the choice I prefer Dave's because of the heat. About the same price range as Angry Chickz, although I'd say that my overall experience was better at Dave's. Extremely friendly and helpful staff with nice interactions. Long line in the drive thru, but we ate inside and didn't have to wait too long at all. When I am hungry for hot chicken, this will be the place--I am already looking forward to my next visit. Online ordering is available, so I might give that a try. You might not think Visalia really needed another chicken restaurant, but my taste buds are very happy to welcome them here. read more

Today was my first and last time at this chicken spot. Unfortunately, I wanted to like it so bad because of the cauliflower sandwich, but the lack of customer service and management I can't. Coming from a restaurant manager myself there is absolutely no excuse. I know what it's like being short staffed and busy. I didn't even get a "sorry" for mixing up my number, just a "yeah, that's your food." No spoon with my Mac and cheese then when I go back and ask for one the manager looks at me like I was bothering her because she had a line of people waiting to order and one kid helping her that was expediting the food but literally had no life in him not even a smile. Not to mention he was the one that took my order and mixed up my order number. Very disappointed. The owner should really look into their management she's not it.
