I had lunch at Dave's Seafood & Subs today. This was my first time. This is a small, casual place. You order and pay for your food at the counter and they tell you when to pick it up. I ordered the fried catfish platter, which came with two sides. I had the onion rings and collard greens. They advertise that they use fresh seafood for their fried fish. It sure tasted fresh and it was delicious. It was a generous amount of food for only $9.49. My wife had their gyro and really liked it. I will definitely return. Dave's was a pleasant surprise! On my first visit, I got the catfish platter. The catfish was delicious, and the sides (chose cole slaw & hush puppies) were quite good. They provided both hot sauce & tartar sauce for the fish. On my other visits, I've ordered the wings. These are enormous whole chicken wings. Two or three are enough for me. They come with mambo sauce on the side (wonderful!). The wings were perfectly fried but didn't have much seasoning on them, maybe because most customers flavor them with mambo sauce. I'll get them again. The fries were crinkle cut. Just OK. Not bad, but nothing special. Because the food is cooked when you order it, it can take 10-15 minutes. The service is friendly. This is a good little place. What you'll find here is the basic DC chinese takeout menu, but located in Chantilly Va and also one in Manassas last I heard. I go mostly for the wings and mambo sauce. Wings are FULL wings, not the drumette/wingettes that you will get from other restaurants. Mambo sauce is pretty good. Burgers are good. Fried fish could use some extra seasoning IMO. Large menu. Worth checking out if you aren't too concerned about eating health food for that meal. read more

Refused to make my food prior to scheduled closing time. Had to eat my initial order on the back of my trunk because woman at the counter said I could not sit down to eat between 7:20 and the 8:00 closing time. I didn't say anything and just waited for my order. I noticed that at about 7:25 when I placed my first order they were already in the process of cleaning everything including the grill. With this being my first time here, I decided to get a 2nd order to take home so I could try something else but was told that they closed at 8:00 and even though it was only 7:50, they would not make anymore food. I soon understood why. They were completely cleaned, lights off, closed up and walking out the door at 7:59. If they are not going to honor their posted hours of operation, they should change them to 7:30 or whenever they have decided they will stop making food. Best sandwiches in the area, with amazing prices to boot. The Philly cheesesteak is second to none, and the burgers and cold sandwiches are stuffed with high quality, simple ingredients. I have been going weekly with my family for years, and we have bonded with the owners and gotten to know a few of the other "regulars". Both were perfectly cooked. I am typically picky about where I get seafood. Stuck on a gluten free diet limits my choices at a sandwich place. So I decided to give the shrimp a try. A 1 Star is just tooo much to give for their customer service and ok food. Very unfriendly... the customer service was just unacceptable! I placed an order for scallops and crab sticks and asked if both items can be placed in the same container. When I got there I kindly greeted the lady behind the counter and told her I'm here to pick up my order. She gave me 2 separate bags. I checked the order before paying and saw that first, it was not in the same container as requested. Second, the scallops were burnt. I showed her the scallops and told her I did not want them because they were burnt but I will pay for the crab sticks. She immediately rolled her eyes at me and said they were not burnt. I said to her I do not want them because they looked and smelled burnt. I'll just pay for the crab sticks. She then angrily grabbed the scallops and had her hand out and yelled "just give me the money for the crab sticks!" I told her she was being very rude and causing a scene. Well to start this is the second time I ordered the fish sampler and got burned twice. Two piecess of fish were under cooked, I mean mushy inside. They act like I ordeded catfish sushi, instead of fried fish. Both times were take out orders at lunch time. So be on high alert of take out orders. As the saying goes,"They screw in the drive-thru, as well as take out orders" especially around lunch time. I tried beating the lunch rush and get there early, so check your food or you will be the next one posting.
