Dave's is tucked away in a little three-tenant building just south of Rt. 50. You can only turn into their parking lot coming southbound on Walney Rd. I've passed by and seen this place for the last 15-odd years but this my first try. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There's not much ambiance. But the place is clean, well-lit, and there was some smooth jazz coming out of the speakers[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There are about 6 tables inside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I ordered the fish sampler platter with mashed potatoes and gravy, and mac and cheese. I also ordered three jumbo chicken wings. The sampler platter came with three breaded and fried fillets. According to the menu, they were whiting, trout and "catfish (swai)". I couldn't definitively tell which was which, but I think the whiting and trout were the thinnest. One of those, perhaps the whiting, had a distinct fishy taste. What I assume to be the swai was thicker and quite mild and tasty. The batter on all three was crispy and had a bit of salt in it. I did find about three pin bones across all the pieces, so be careful. A note on swai: this is an Asian species completely different than any real catfish species. There is an FDA law that says it cannot be labeled as catfish. This is why I believe it's listed the way it is on the menu. Read up on swai and make your own determination. For me, it's tasty, and I'll probably return to Dave's in the future to get an order of just that. The fish came with a small container of tartar sauce. The mac and cheese was average. It's possibly from a box, but still good. The mashed potatoes were smooth and creamy. Also possibly from a box. But, combined with the gravy (probably from a packet mix), it brought back to me fond memories of 1980s elementary school lunches. Those mashed potatoes and gravy were the bestest! (Pizza slices sucked, but pizza boats were great; hamburgers sucked, but Salisbury steak was great.) The jumbo chicken wings were huge! Each one is the uncut whole wing -- tip, flat, and drumette. So an order of three is like ordering six regular "wings". They included a small container of their special mombo sauce, and an even smaller container of hot sauce which was very close in flavor to Crystal hot sauce. The mombo sauce was fine. It was slightly sweet, slightly spicy, but not really mouth-poppingly fantastic. The wings were super crispy and meltingly hot -- so much so that the takeout container was a bit melted and warped in some spots. No one said this was healthy. But was it good? Yeah, it was good. Eat here when your better half (and likely better eater) is out of town. Also, call your order in ahead if you can because it took a good 15 minutes to prepare.

It's an underrated hidden gem. It's a local neighborhood, hole in the wall. The interior is nothing special. But the folks at the front desk makes you feel warm. Food wise, everything we've ordered we liked and you definitely get your money's worth. Would recommend checking out.

came here on a whim with my mom & bebs! was not very busy when I arrived & ordered, but after, at least 4 more people came by to order. ordered a catfish sandwich for my mom & a fish sampler with mashed potatoes & gravy and mac & cheese for myself. the wait was about 20 minutes, but man, did it feel long because there's no air in this shop! they could've turned on the ceiling fans or AC as it was 100 degrees outside, but it was only barely cooler in there than outside. the food was good! the catfish was well seasoned, but not as good as the catfish at Johnny Ray's Sultry Soul Food in my opinion. the fish in my sampler had a lot of bones, so just be careful. the sandwich wasn't bad, but my mom wasn't very impressed. I pulled some fish meat for my baby & mixed it in with the mac & cheese which he seemed to love! it's in a small shopping center & the guy at the front has a very loud voice. it's such a great little find in a small, hidden area.

I had some really good chicken wings and fried from here. Everything was made fresh to order! I read the reviews before ordering and I could see what folks were talking about. The wings were huge. 3 wings feels like 6 wings.

Am I in Baltimore? Am I in DC? Love a place that transports you to a happy place and happy tummy. Got carry out during quarantine and it was such a memorable encounter. Staff is very friendly and adhered to social distancing, proper face masks/shields, with hand sanitizer by the register. They use a basket to hand you your food and pack everything really well for transport although it was so hard not to dig in as soon as we got to the car. This place was busy! When we got there, there were two people waiting, while one guy drove up and got his carry out in jiffy bed because he had called it in. I was also impressed with how quickly they answered the phone while taking the time to explain the menu to us. Fried fish (whiting, trout, catfish, etc), fried shrimp/steamed shrimp, fried chicken wings (the HUGE ones) with mumbo sauce, and chicken wings (the ones more commonly found at carry outs), fried porkchop, fried okra...do you see a theme here? Could not believe it took me this long to visit but will happily drive here to get my fried food fix!

Best place to get a good fried catfish in the area. Always fried just right, non greasy, fish is meaty... the fish is always on point. Not a fan of the sides though. The mashed potatoes are definitely boxed and have no taste and the veggies taste like they're from a can. Overall the food is good for a quick takeout but don't expect a gourmet meal. I say stick to the fish and make your own sides at home or maybe just try one of their subs!

This place is a local gem! They really know how to fry correctly. Their wings and catfish are delicious and not greasy.

We've had plenty of bad experiences with Chinese buffet seafood making us feel sick--pretty sure I'm not the only one--but that has never happened here. The food is always freshly steamed and served hot when you order. I'm not a big fan of overly salty, heavy American-style seasoning, so I really appreciate that they can prepare it without all that. Also, my daughter doesn't eat much seafood, but they're flexible and let us order something simple like a mozzarella stick for her, which is a huge plus. Yes, there's an 18% gratuity for parties of 5 or more, but it feels fair for the quality and service. The gumbo you can order on the side is amazing, and the crab legs, mussels, clams, and shrimp are all fresh and delicious. It's $58.99 per person, which isn't cheap, but definitely worth it. Highly recommend.

We started with the hush puppies, sweet potato fries and chicken wings. All were perfectly fried and tasty. The hush puppies were the highlight. Then we moved onto our seafood. We got a huge platter of snow crab legs, a lobster tail, shrimp and mussels. The seafood came out piping hot and cooked well. I wish the seafood had a bit more seasoning and less chunks of garlic. But, overall enjoyed it! They give you gloves and a bib so you can dig in without worrying getting too messy. One special thing they have on the menu is their ramen side. I've never seen this at other crab boils. The ramen is so tasty in the garlic butter sauce. It was my favorite part and I kept going back for more! We ordered another platter of seafood and were stuffed! The service can be improved. Our waitress came by a few times but not enough to get refills on our drinks or other things we needed. But, overall a good experience.

We were happily greeted in and seated. They weren't too busy on this Sunday evening. For apps we decided on the crab guacamole, peel and eat shrimp, and the fried trio- Oysters/Calamari/Shrimp that came with marinara and a roumalade. I noticed a Chipotle sauce that came with another shrimp dish and asked for that instead. The chips were fresh and tasty. Guac was also good the crab sat on top the guac. Peel and eat shrimp well seasoned with old bay. The fried trio was amazing as well. Everything perfectly fried and the Chipotle sauce delicious! For mains we went with the Chilean sea bass and lobster special. Fish and lobster was well prepared in a creamy sauce on top of mashed potatoes. Delicious and the potatoes were plentiful. We also tried the Chef's Ocean Elegance - Seared scallops and crab stuffed shrimp on top of garlic mashed potatoes topped with green onion and mushrooms in a lemon caper sauce. Everything was pefect!!! We noticed the happy hour menu with lots of delicious items. We may be back before we leave to try it out!

We came on a busy Sunday, but everything moved fairly quickly. As a table, we split the fried calamari and Spanish chorizo mussels. Both of which were solid as appetizers. There was nothing too spectacular about them. As my main, I ordered the crab-stuffed salmon which came with mashed potatoes and sauteed vegetables. The salmon, while the best part of the dish, still left more to be desired. It was a bit dry and I didn't think the sauce was all that flavorful. The vegetables were fine, but the mashed potatoes were simply bad? They had the texture and flavor of instant mashed potatoes, slightly liquidity while being quite bland. I just don't think this place is worth coming back to.

We loved having Chef Jesus on site cooking up a storm. It was a rainy day but luckily we were able to convert from cooking on the patio to cooking in the garage. Jesus set up on our deck to cook the paella. He came with everything needed (i.e. propane, burner, giant pan, table, etc) and got right to it. Watching him put everything together white we were enjoying empanadas and some wine was completely enjoyable. Not only was the experience fun to watch, but the paella was delicious! I think he had everything in there from seafood, chicken and sausage to veggies and of course rice. It was a great balance and I don't know what's in the broth, but it all came together beautifully. We all completely enjoyed the food and experience and what fun to have everything prepared right in front of us on our deck! Jesus cleaned everything up like he was never even there. If you want something a bit more unique that I can almost guarantee everyone will enjoy, give this a try. Oh, of course there was too much food so we have leftovers which re-heat perfectly! Highly recommend!
