I typically don't write bad reviews (why waste time on businesses that hire hopelessly rude people?!), but it turns out that yelp filters reviews of those who only write 5-star reviews. So there, I decided to revisit the awful businesses that treated me poorly in the past. It really wasn't hard to come up with one -- David's Bridal in Springfield! I visited this David's Bridal by myself because I was brand new in town and didn't know a lot of people. When I first arrived at the store, I was asked to fill out an informational survey (sure that's cool) by the manager, and then I was asked to sit down and wait. I waited and waited, no service. Okay... So I asked if I could walk around while I waited for the bridal consultant that I was promised. And then again I waited and waited. No service. Then this mother-and-daughter pair walks in without an appointment, and they were treated like a royalty as soon as they walked in. Are you kidding me? But, this was just a preface to what was to come. Horrible horrible service. Don't go. I ended up purchasing a much nicer dress for a great deal at a local bridal shop who treated me like a real customer. I strongly urge brides to go elsewhere for their dresses. Seriously. read more

I am not the most enthusiastic bride and definitely not a girly girl, so I was already apprehensive going to David's Bridal. It was a Sunday, so understably busy. First, We waited about 30 minutes to get a dressing room and the attention of a staff member. I had come with a few girlfriends, and we had started pulling dresses (since we were waiting anyway). We were told to stop pulling dressing in a rather curt manner (even though we were told to go ahead and start looking at dresses). I don't want to blame the girl helping in particular for a negativeexperience, it definitely seemed under-staffed and that she was helping way more people than she could handle at once. I had to ask three times for shoes. I think the part that was least enjoyable was that they didn't seem to have anything in my size (I'd consider myself average), so she kept bringing dresses that were two sizes two small, pinning them on me, and suggesting that I "imagine" what it would look like on, if properly fitted. So I really had no idea how any of the dresses (except one) would really look like on. Not to mention that never being able to zip up a dress was extremely disheartening and made me really want to stop trying on dresses. I will say that compared to higher-end places, David's Bridal is definitely more affordable and has a wide selection, if they have the right size for you. read more

David's Bridal Photography is awesome! So glad we didn't let some of the negative reviews keep us from booking a photographer. Although you don't meet the photographer until the day of the wedding, they do excellent job and referring the right one! not to mention the amazing photo's our photos where great! I've been at this location twice. Pros; 1. It was fairly easy to get an appointment both times. 2. The manager who walks in & out of her office in the back compliments you as you she walks past you if you're standing out in the platform with your dress on. Comments that make you feel good is BIG, esp if/when you're already stressed with everything about planning your wedding. 3. The ladies who answer the phone are extremely friendly. (When you get to the actual store, it's a little different.) Cons; 1. The first time I went, the consultant they assigned to me was friendly. She helped me out constantly inside the dressing room. But towards the end of the hour and fifteen minutes that we were there, it kind of died down and felt that she could care less. 2. The second time I came here, I was with my bridesmaids. Whoever they assigned to me wasn't helpful at all. She said hi and introduced herself, with no expression at all. She looked like she wanted to be anywhere but the store. She pulled dresses for us, but I kept having to help my ladies with their dresses. Especially with certain types of dresses, the zippers/laces are a little tricky and I didn't wanna mess them up/break the zippers. I fully understand we couldn't be the only ones she needed to help, but she wasn't helping us she didn't even know what size one of my ladies were. This location is closer to me that's why I came back here. But we're going to end up ordering our dresses elsewhere. read more

I had a great experience at this David's Bridal. Indeed, you do not go here looking for a high-end dress and champagne wedding gown shopping experience. But there is a good selection, especially at the affordable price point. I am not rich, but trust me, my dress looks extremely nice. Perfect even. My whole experience was great, from the consultant phase (Joy was helpful, friendly, patient) to the alterations (punctual, really knew what they were doing, good listeners). Yes the alterations were expensive but alterations ARE expensive. And at least my seamstress really knew what she was doing. My dress looks amazing. The other good thing about this store is that they have lots of wedding shoes and other accessories. And you don't need an appointment to look around at those things. I do recommend going on a week day. I made two appointments, both on weekday afternoons. So if you can, go during the week. read more

I had a horrible experience here over the weekend. Run away from this store if you get Tammy. First she was rude to me from the start and I wanted to leave but I had my entire bridal party there. She got angry at my mom when she went to pick out dresses on my behalf that I would like. If she brought something I didn't like on the hanger she wouldn't let me try it on to see how it would look on me. She was overly critical and nitpicky with me to the point I was almost in tears. The section of dresses for me was minimal due to the time of my wedding. But the service was subpar. RUN AWAY FROM THIS LOCATION. I have heard from other people other locations are better. I went in this past Monday to pick up my bridesmaid's dress. Upon going in I hadn't seen the dress so I had no idea what I'd be forced to buy. It turned out that the dress didn't fit my bust well, so I ended up trying on a number of other styles. Sallie worked with me and was EXTREMELY patient and helpful. I was there for over an hour and she didn't once rush me...without her I probably would've had a complete meltdown. She ended up helping me find an alternative dress that my cousin loved too. I am a (I'd like to think) low-maintenance, young bride on a budget with a simple style. I went at around 2pm on a Thursday, with no appointment, and there were maybe three or four other brides in the entire store. This being said, David's Bridal worked out perfectly for me. My consultant's name was Iman, and she was lovely to work with. It only took maybe fifteen minutes for her to come help, and she seemed very knowledgeable about dresses and where everything was in the store. My mom, maid of honor, and I picked a few dresses from the lookbooks, but they didn't look as good on me as we'd thought. Iman grabbed a couple more dresses based on those I'd tried, and while they looked better on me, they weren't my style at all. My mom explained to her the kind of things she thought I'd like in a dress and she brought two more: one I loved, and the other I knew would be the dress I wear when I get married. She had found them in the clearance section, too, so we ended up spending about $700 less than we'd budgeted for. I don't know that we will buy anything besides my dress at David's Bridal; the accessories and bridesmaids' dresses seemed lower-quality at too high a cost. But my experience there was overall quite enjoyable and the other ladies who work there were helpful and very kind. :) Thank you again! read more

Wonderful experience! I went to this place to try on wedding dresses alone because we just moved to this area and my bridesmaids are all on the west coast, and the lady helping me was so great! She stayed with me the whole time, offered advice, and helped me find dresses that fit my style and body type. I found a great dress that I love! It needed to be ordered in my size, and it came in less than a week! I am was so surprised and pleased. I had a great time here and would definitely recommend it to any bride. read more

My appointment was okay, we got there maybe 10 minutes early and they checked us in and told us to browse while we waited for our salesperson. Probably 20 minutes later she came over and started our appointment. No asking what we were looking for or anything, just took the few dresses we had in our hands back. She seemed to be working with another client simultaneously which made her disappear for periods of time but it wasnt too bad, it gave us time to talk about the dresses. My biggest issue the with appointment was that they didn't seem to have a way to keep those without and appointment away from the dressing rooms. There were two women who were just browsing (allegedly for their niece's wedding) liked one dress they saw and essentially integrated themselves into the appointment, asking the attendant to bring jewellery and other unnecessary items over to match the dresses I was trying on which kind of hijacked the appointment. Given that they weren't among the people I introduced as being with me, I would have thought she could have not followed their instructions. I ended up redoing my mother's dress into something similar to what we saw there so I cannot speak to the purchasing aspect of the store. What I am truly angry about (and what spurred me to write this review) is that they require you to provide contact information and then sell it to other companies. Every few months I have 2 or 3 weeks where I get called at least once a day by a company offering a free prize vacation if I go to a high pressure pots and pans seminar. I have been asked to be removed from their list but they keep calling back with different names and numbers, claiming to have gotten my number from a bridal list. Given that I didn't go to any bridal shows or anything and the calls initiated not long after my appointment, I can only assume they are the ones who sold my number. So annoying. read more

I've been to this location many times, as I've been in a few friends' wedding and have gone here either to shop for them or to purchase bridesmaids dresses. Up until my most recent experience, I would have given this store 5 stars- the consultants were always helpful and patient and not pushy at all. For the price and selection, it's worth a trip. If possible, don't go on the weekend- the experience is much better during the work week. On the weekend they are understaffed and overbooked. My most recent visit to the store was with my friend shopping for a wedding dress. The whole party was present before our appointment time, but about 30-45 minutes after the start of the appointment we still didn't have a room or a consultant. We complained to the front desk and got into a room, but our assigned consultant literally did nothing. We pulled all of the dresses and the MOH helped the bride into every one of them. I'm not exaggerating when I say that the consultant was not a part of the appointment. It was frustrating because we got such a late start supposedly because the consultant wasn't available yet, but in the end we did it all on our own which makes me wonder why we had to wait. And I would say they lost out on a sale because we weren't expecting to pull dresses and weren't familiar with the inventory etc. read more

I have visited three wedding dress boutique shops in my quest to find the perfect wedding dress. David's Bridal was my fourth. Not only was the service exceptional, the selection vast, my consultant (Gwen) knowledgeable, and the prices very reasonable, but I found "the dress" (and at a third of the price I was seeing at other stores). I would highly recommend this store to anyone. The entire staff gave me their opinion on two dresses that I was deliberating - one was twice the cost of the other. They could have easily tried to "upsale" me and instead recommended the less expensive of the two that was really more to scale for me body type and style. Two of my girlfriends also found their dresses at David's Bridal and we are of very different body type, skin tone, and taste. Be prepared for them to suggest affiliate purchases (tuxes, dress preservation, etc), but that was to be expected and it was not overly pushy. I was very pleased with David's Bridal in Springfield. I schedule my appointment for 10:30AM and arrived a few minutes before. There was a very quick check in process and they called my stylist, Kidist, up to the front to greet me. She was so friendly and so sweet. She asked me if I had picked any dresses (pictures) that I had wanted to try on. I showed her the ones I liked on my phone, and just by looking at the pictures she could tell whether or not they had the dress in store to try on. Her knowledge of the inventory was insane. While she pulled the dresses I selected, I was told to wander around the store and see if there were any others I wanted to try on. We met up with Kidist again once all the dresses were selected and started trying on dresses. I came shopping with my mom and Kidist asked if I wanted her or my mom in the room to try on dresses. I told her I wanted my mom, so Kidist waited outside and when I was done with a dress immediately took it out of the room and hung it up for us. Once I found THE dress, Kidist brought over a tiara that really took it over the top. I was SO lucky and fortunate to have her as my stylist. I can't comment on any of the other stylists, but do yourself a favor and schedule your appointment with her. Seriously. She's the best. read more

A few weeks ago my bridal party came to try on bridesmaids dresses. A manager was helping us and was so completely flustered (it was very busy and we had been waiting a while because her previous appointment had run over). While we can understand why one would be overwhelmed, ehe came off as extremely rude and unhelpful. At different times she even rolled her eyes at our requests to try different dresses or sizes. We would have complained, but this person WAS a manager. We ended up finding dresses, however now that the orders are arriving I am realizing how different the color looks in the chosen fabric. I had purchased many swatches, and perhaps I should have realized how the color would have changed. At the same time, I feel this is something the attendant might have pointed out if she hadn't been helping the next guests and running away. I am very disappointed in the dresses and now I do not feel I have the time/money to reorder in a better color in time for the wedding. read more

I walked in to David's for my appointment just starting my search for the perfect dress. I had my 3 besties in tow to help me narrow it down with no intention on purchasing that day. My consultant was Joy and her name suited her. We all walked around looking at assorted silhouettes, colors, styles and prices and I let my friends and Joy pick out dresses for me. I tried on dress after dress with Joy helping me every step of the way. I never felt rushed After trying on at least 6 different styles, we got down to the last two. Joy picked those. The second to last dress felt like a dream- beachy, simple, flowy and not white. I loved it! Then came the last dress. We put it on, Joy pinned me in (and gracefully informed me I would be needing a smaller size- Whoo Hoo) and I fell in love. You always know when it is the exact right dress. My friends brought a headband to complete the look and I started to cry. I was exactly what I wanted. Then I looked at the price tag. I had to swallow because it was out of my budget by a lot. After face conferencing with my mom, talking it over with my friends and looking at it again, I rang that bell and said YES to the dress. Joy did not pressure me, she just watched. She obviously knows her job well. She listened to me when I didn't even know I had said anything. she let all my friends have their say. She made sure I tried on all the different types of dresses so I could compare. And in the end, she found the exact dress I wanted. I left there so excited with my purchase. I showed up at David's with out an appt looking for bridesmaids dresses. I was torn with dress colors and how it would fit into my color palette. I figured this would just help me get an idea of what to work with. Megan helped me... and she totallllly jumped in and took all the confusion away. I showed her my palette and flowers and just started pulling colors and I picked out my dresses in 30 min! What a relief!!!!! All the girls were super friendly and caring! Megan was fantastic. She is an artist with this. Thank you so much Megan and also to all the girls. The store is well kept and organized. Customer service was outstanding. I was surprised I was able to be paired with someone with out an appt. I'm glad Megan took me on! There are so many options for colors and textures. And the ease of having Davids bridal all over the us helps since I have bridesmaids located in different states. I cannot thank manager Elaine and saleswoman Teresa enough for their help and consideration. I'm a bridesmaid in my best friend's wedding which is now a month away. After having back surgery my dress was WAY too big and cut me at a totally different spot on my hips. Elaine came and spoke with me personally and assured me that we would find a new dress and she made an exception for me to exchange my dress at the new sale price. My dress was way past the 30 day exchange and I was so grateful for the help. Teresa was my saleswoman and she is the nicest, sweetest, and most efficient saleswoman I have ever had! She took one look at me and knew exactly what to pull. I ended up with a dress that was more lightweight, more flattering, and less expensive than the first. The total I paid cost me less than the alterations would have and I now am so excited to dance at the wedding and show everyone the new dress! I was very disappointed in my experience with David's Bridal in Springfield. I arrived with all 7 of my bridesmaids and was greeted by a pleasant front desk person. I then met the associate that would be helping us and was given very little direction on how to proceed. Honestly, I don't even think she knew my name after spending 2 hours with her. She took no time to get to know us or what we were looking for. As we paged through a little book of dresses she would go, one at a time, and get us what we asked for. They NEVER had the sizes we were looking for so we often had to clip dresses to even get an idea how they would fit (which is fine, but WE were the ones doing it). We finally settled on a Vera Wang bridesmaids dress after and was then informed that they didnt have ANY in the color we were looking at in this store or any surrounding store but I was assured that if we received the dresses and hated the color, we could exchange them which I felt was fair enough. 15 minutes later after we had our hearts set on the dress, the manager came back to inform us that the information was incorrect and we could not return the dresses since they were "special ordered". The ONLY thing that had me give them 2 stars is that the manager was able to find me a dress in the back that someone else had ordered in the color I was looking for. Her communication was incredibly condescending and not warm or understanding as we made a fairly large price tag decision. I felt like I was bothering basically everyone I spoke to the whole time I was there and felt like just a check list on my consultants day. For a group that was about to drop $1500 on dresses and who knows how much more on alterations, I felt we were not treated with the level of customer service I was expect. read more

Great experience shopping here. Stopped by David's with my future sister-in-law and her daughter. No appointment made although did a lot of online shopping so we had ideas about the styles and shapes. Pleasantly surprised by the great assistance by Joy. Had read the reviews and was not sure how it would go, expected difficulties from lack of support staff. Well, that was not the case! Joy was very attentive. She was excellent in seeking out different styles and getting the sizing right, very prompt and candid (not in a rude way at all, very sound advice). This was despite a huge crowd of brides-to-be and their entourages. The store manager (Elaine) was also very interested to know how everything was going, and I noticed she checked with others as well. Thought she was very on top of things. Elaine and Joy very helpful on shoes, jewelry, belts, etc. Overall a great experience for us despite the crowd and no appointment! Thanks Joy and Elaine! I'd give this place zero stars if I could. I had better luck finding my own dresses and putting them on myself due to the absence of the "sales assistant ". She was well, absent. When she was there for the whole five minutes of my appointment she brought dresses that weren't anything like I had showed her and or in the price range I had told her. I give David's Bridal only 2 Stars. When I went in to try on the shoes, the lady was very pleasant to work with however she seemed to be very new, which wasn't bothersome. However when I called (3-4 weeks later) to check on the status of my shoes, they said they were ready. Well it would of been great if I received a phone call or/and email advising me that they are in house and ready for pick. So when I go to pick them up the shoes were very nicely done, however the customer service definitely needs ALOT of work. As I walked in, there was a worker on the phone (at the very front) talking about how she was "3 sheets to wind drunk" etc etc. Like really..... I don't want to know about your weekend festivities. So unprofessional! The person that was helping me was very informative though but acted as if I was interrupting her. They are the absolute worst place to buy a dress from and to have it altered! Do yourself a huge favor and DO NOT go to this store or any David's Bridal. They just managed to ruin my $2k dress with extremely expensive alterations! My seamstress not only did not have my dress ready after having it for a whole month, she also took way too much from the bust area and when I finally got her to admit that it was too tight she proceeded to say that she could not let go an inch because then the dress would be too heavy and bring everything down! Then she recommended me to lose weight in order for ithat inch to go away!!!! This is 3 weeks prior to my wedding and I had to leave the dress there so she could finish the job she was paid to do a month ago so then I can go to a seamstress that knows ehat she's doing and fix the mess that talentless hack did to my dress!!!! I just needed to go here to try on a bridesmaid dress and shoes for a wedding in Chicago; we had to order them all from the same store so the dyes would match. Sounds simple enough, right? Wrong. It might have been my fault for not making an appointment, but I thought I wouldn't need to, since they sell prom dresses, I figure, girls don't make appointments for prom dress shopping, right? Well, I thought wrong. I had to wait for a dressing room, even though there were several open, and then had to sign my life away before even trying on a dress. I explained the sales woman the deal, and figured she would understand, since, you know, she's a David's Bridal employee and should know how the system works, but no, she did not. She expected me to buy the dress, and the shoes, right there and then. Luckily when I was done trying on the dress and knew which size I needed, the sales lady was no where to be seen, so I grabbed my little order form and jetted for the door. Suckers! read more

I have been in a few weddings, and will be in my sisters wedding next year. Each time, we have gone to David's in Springfield... for both the bride and bridesmaids. Never ever ever ever did any of the stylists deliver this level of customer service that Sharon gave us tonight. She was patient, calm, attentive and REAL. No fluff or crap or sales tactics. I had an appointment to shop for bridesmaids dresses for two of my bridesmaids. KC was our consultant and gave us the best customer service experience I have ever had! Not only was she super sweet and knowledgeable about what styles would fit each of my girls' body types, she also managed to squeeze in letting me try on several dresses for a black tie event I have coming up AND found my wedding dress (which I hadn't planned on shopping for that day!) she exceeded our expectations and gave me and my bridesmaids an unforgettable experience. If I could give them negative stars, I would. The entire experience with the store and staff was - hands-down - the WORST buying experience ever. If you need to be thrifty with your wedding, please, please, please go somewhere else - anywhere else (craigslist, consignment shop, ebay) would provide you with more satisfaction. The store and its policies are infuriating. Ladies, if it is your special day, you deserve something better. You can find the value somewhere else, lots of niche shops offer great values on dresses! You can find bridesmaid's dresses in retail stores. For those that like the story, it follow. For any just looking for a heads-up, the first paragraph sums it up. My experience at David's Bridal was only topped in poor quality by the experience I had trying to purchase/follow up with my bridesmaid's dresses. I had to wait more than 10 minutes for my appointment; my paperwork was not ready; the consultant left me in a chair with a magazine for about 15 minutes; then rushed me through trying on the dresses pushing hard for any kind of sell and not offering any helpful information. She treated me like she had to rush through my appointment and was visible disappointed that I did not purchase more merchandise. When I went to purchase the dress, the woman put it on a different bride's order and did nothing to confirm that any information was correct in the system. Not only would that have messed up my order, it would have messed up another customer's order. There were no apologies for the sloppy work and lack of professionalism. When my dress was finally ready for pick-up, the staff tried to force me to sign off on the dress without allowing my to try it on or inspect the dress. When I did try on the dress and inspect it, the fabric was damaged- there were runs in the fabric in multiple places. The staff provided no apology and did not want to reorder the dress. When I finally received the reordered dress, the staff was no more helpful and no more professional. They provided free shipping at my insistance because of all of the inconvenience caused by the delay in the order, but that was even rudely given. I'm almost in tears I'm so upset. I went in yesterday to my first wedding dress fitting. Excited and anxious not knowing what to expect and I am so disappointed by the service I received. Unfortunately (fortunately for her I guess) I forgot the name of the representative who "helped me". She was not helpful at all, I had trouble understanding the seamstress and wasn't aware of the some of the wedding dress terminology (since it is my first wedding dress ever). She was not around to help and I had to find her. Then I noticed that the armpit area was already ripping (it was the first time I had ever tried on my dress) and rather than offering her suggestions she told me just to "not lift up my arms" ...ummm it's my wedding so how am I not supposed to do that to throw the bouquet?? Needless to say now I'm worried because I was planning of wearing this dress the whole night...for what I paid for it... and not I guess I may have to think about getting another dress for the reception. I'm so disappointment and continue to be disappointed by the service at this David's Bridal. I almost wish I hadn't liked my bridal or bridesmaids dresses from there and had taken my business somewhere else with better service specially for something so important to me. read more

I love love LOVE LOVED KATHLEEN!!! She was absolutely amazing. Extremely professional, kind, knowledgable and knew exactly what she was doing. I had a prior consultant whom I felt wasn't helpful at all. So I came in feeling a little anxious but she took all my hesitancy away and blew my mind!
