It was a cold and rainy morning. It even snowed for a few minutes. Granted, they were the big, wet flakes that never stick to the ground for long, but it was white and falling and it counts! We arrived at David's just in time for the post church rush. Oh boy! We were told to expect at least a 30 minute wait and that estimate was accurate. There was no room to wait inside, as this place is small and so many others had arrived ahead of us. Luckily, the owners set up covered seating as well as hot coffee and packs of animal crackers outside to stave off cold and hunger. That kindness in itself is worth t least one star, not that DD needed it to score their perfect 5. It was finally emptied out enough inside to go wait for our table in the warmth. Did I mentioned that this place is SMALL? It gets BUSY.too!. All the servers and bussers managed to stay in good humor, though, which is amazing considering the tight quarters and relentless stream of customers. Finally it was our turn at the front the line. Yay! We ended seated next to a nice couple we had chatted with while waiting. They gave us the 411, including a hint about the corned beef hash, which is a secret menu item. Oh lawd, if you like corned beef, you'll be wanting to order this. It is tender and juicy and most decidely not from a can! Nice chunks of fried potatoes were included in the huge serving. It comes with eggs and toast. I upgraded the toast to grilled tomatoes. My over easy eggs were just that. Cooked just enough to set the white and then turned over so the yolks stayed soft and runny. The coffee came quick and fast, which was greatly appreciated. Other dishes ordered by our party included the "Trash Plate" (their words, not mine,) which was a bit of everything topped with a sweet chiil and the Country Benedict, poached eggs, bacon and hollandaise atop jalapeno corn bread I didn't taste either dish, but my brother and sister respectively each liked their order. My Mom ordered the same dish as me and I forgot what my sister-in-law had, but I can tell you that no one left hungry! The restroom is teeny tiny, but functional and clean enough for hygiene purposes. We were told that it is much less busy upon opening at around 7, so if you need to be in and out, consider going then. David's is open for breakfast and lunch daily. read more

I've eaten here many times and all the food is consistently excellent and the service exceptional. The portions are huge and they have a wide variety of dishes to suit every taste. Their country sausage and gravy over biscuits is to die for! The owners and staff are very friendly, they take the time to talk with everyone and they give discounts to military and first responders. The diner can get crowded, especially on weekends, but they have a coffee bar outside and it is worth the wait. Nothing but rave reviews for this spot. Looks a bit like a dive from the outside but when you step inside the staff are friendly, the restaurant is clean and the food is delicious. It's a neighborhood diner where literally everyone knows your name. I felt a little like the odd man out because no one knew my name but everyone was so friendly that the feeling didn't last long. It's a small place with a handful of tables and a lunch counter with stools. It can get crowded but they work quickly to get everyone seated. Also, I saw the owner, Lisa, bringing coffee to those who were sitting waiting which I thought was a really thoughtful touch to ease the wait time. On both visits, I went for the Light Breakfast of sorts which was one pancake with a fried egg on top and then ordered a side of home fries. On the second visit I upgraded the regular pancake for a banana and chocolate chip pancake. That decision was definitely NOT a mistake! Well, maybe a mistake for my waistline but not my taste buds. Everything on the menu looks great and you get a ton of food for a great price. I love, love, love the home fries. I also really want to emphasize how clean this place was. No dust on any of the decorations or shelves, no crusted and dried residue on the ketchup and hot sauce bottle on the tables, a clean floor, etc. You can tell the owners really take pride in their business. To put it simply, this may be the best restaurant I've ever eaten at. I've eaten at high-end spots and dives, but I can't think of another place where every si gle thing has been so delicious. I'm not ally not a breakfast person, but the eggs, omelets, hash browns, biscuits and gravy, pancakes, and every other item I have had have always been great. I once arrived after they stopped serving breakfast and I felt disappointed in that I'd have to settle for something else. Instead of setting, I got the shredded pot roast and it turned out to be the best pot roast I've ever had. Every time I come here, I feel like I'be been invited over to somebodies house for a home cooked meal. They don't really let it be known, but they also offer desserts. Twice there I've had a maple bacon pound cake which has been fantastic. One of the servers makes it every now and again among other things that change by the day. Lastly, the big appeal to me is that the staff here has never treated me any other way than warm and friendly. They seem like they're actually happy to see you and they seem to enjoy their job working as a close knit and family-like group. The service is friendly and the pancakes are HUGE. Homemade hand-formed sausage patties and fresh blueberries in the pancakes keep me coming back. Another small gem nestled in the Creighton area along Pittsburgh St/Freeport Rd. David's Diner serves fantastic food and the service is impeccable! While there, i ordered 2 pecan & cranberry pancakes with a side of sausage. The pancakes were enormous, thick and slightly most (thumbs up.) Had i known they were as big as they were, i would've ordered just 1 lol! When my party arrived, David's was transitioning from their breakfast menu to their lunch menu (11:30am). Our server still allowed my party to order breakfast and was super cool about it. Our server was extremely polite and attentive throughout our stay too. No parking. Treated like absolute garbage buy one of the waitresses who really took offense that I asked for a drink refill (AFTER she already asked if everything was ok at the table). She made no bones about hiding her disgust and talked to me with sarcastic disdain. She asked ME if I had a problem!!!! We were not "her table". (Why did she come by & ask if eveything was ok then?) This was absolutely the best place we could have gone and Yelp and TripAdvisor did not lie! The ladies that work there are so incredibly friendly and the good is amazing! We both had coffee (which was your typical delicious diner coffee). I had the biscuits and gravy which were incredible and the home fries/hash browns were some of the best I've ever had! My husband had the SOS (essentially creamed chipped beef on toast) with a side of their legendary jalapeño cornbread and homemade sausage. We were so full when we were done as the portions were huge!
