Their entrees are pretty overpriced and leave a lot to be desired in terms of the ingredients. Decent food. Pizza is a good choice, and the Caesar salad is always consistent, but the majority of their entrees are pretty mediocre. The best part about DaVinci's is honestly their bar. It has so many great local beers on draft and even more bottled beers available. If you're bringing a non-local into the area I'd definitely recommend visiting the DaVinci's bar - it's a hidden gem! In town for a sporting event and stopped in to grab a bite. My partner had the meatball sub. The meatballs were horrible and the sauce was from a can! If you call yourself an Italian restaurant and dare to name yourself DaVinci you should live up to the name. I had their "panini" which was 2 pieces of buttered toast with 3 slices of store bought ham, tomato and cheese. It's an embarrassment to the word panini. Our waitress was nice. Garlic knots. That's it. That's all you need to know about DaVinci's. They are that good. Okay, okay. But really. I came here with a group of 10 a few weeks ago, and they were so incredibly nice and accommodating for us, it was some of the best customer service I've had in a while! Some of the party went for the unlimited soup, salad and pizza bar and everything looked delicious that they brought back to the table. I went for the Storehouse #2 which sounded amazing on the menu. I was unfortunately disappointed as it didn't seem to have any of the marinated tomato, smoked Gouda, garlic aioli or even the red onion as it advertised. It tasted like fried eggplant smothered in tartar sauce. Had I not been with colleagues, I probably would have sent it back. But I managed to pick around it and eat my fries that were thankfully very good. I seemed to be the only one who didn't love their food, so maybe it was just a mishap. I'm not going to hold it against them as everything else was wonderful. I had a bite of a cannoli which was hands down, the best I've ever tasted. Dear Yelp and Davinci's restaurant, Please remove your restaurant as dog friendly when searching on Yelp as it is deceiving as your restaurant is top of the list when searching "dog friendly restaurants"... their staff was quite nice as they did try to seat us, and we understand restaurant regulations, however it was a 90 degree plus day and there was no one seating outside. They did not take any special exceptions for their customer. read more

It was Valentines Day and our family of four chose DaVinci based on recommendations, what a waste of time and money. We went to the bar while waiting for our table and a bunch of us guests waited easy 20 minutes before we could get our first drink order in. One bartender only filled orders from wait staff and never uttered a word to guests or the other bartender that guest were waiting, the other bartender was busy replenishing ice, empty the dishwasher, sorting the tabs, chatting it up with some friends...somehow it all has to get done but guests first, right? Not here. Then the food...first we waited a good 30-40 minutes for our food after ordering and then when it arrived it was lukewarm at best. To top it off my daughter ordered house ravioli and it was absolutely disgusting, it tasted so sweet, as if they poured maple syrup in the sauce, it was more like a dessert, yuk! We never said anything to the waitress who was very attentive and nice and working hard on a busy evening. But DaVinci has some work to do in different departments... read more

I really want to like da Vinci's because in the LA area there aren't many great options. Despite trying a few times, I have yet to have a single good experience here. I went with my family last week for a Sunday dinner. There were 3 of us and a baby. Told there would be a 20 minute wait. After 40 minutes we asked how much longer and were told our table was ready now. While we were waiting we sat outside on the benches by the patio. There were 4 tables that were cleared and sanitized in the time we sat there and were never seated. After finally sitting down, we placed our drink order. Great Sauvignon blanc! The table next to us was seated after us and got their drinks first. We ordered our meals and continued sipping our drinks (spoiler alert they're never refilled!). The table next to us got their salads which looked delicious. At this point our stomachs were growling! Then the table next to us got their entrees. We flagged down our waitress to ask the status of our salads. She held up a finger to wait but never came over. A little while later our entrees came out. We said we had never gotten our salads. Our waitress said "oops, my bad, must have slipped my mind" and served our entrees. I said that I wanted the salads removed from the price of our meals because we weren't going to wait at that point. She said of course and walked away. I ordered the chicken saltimbocca and I'm pretty sure it was either reheated or had been under a heat lamp for a while. It was inedible and gross. The rest of the table had a few bites and we asked for the check. The check arrived with our upcharged Caesar salads still on it! We pointed this out and our waitress told us we had ordered them so she had to charge us, and did we want to take them to go? At that point we just wanted to leave. As a former waitress myself I have a hard time leaving no tip, but this girl got no tip from us! Terrible service, worse food. We certainly won't be back. Great atmosphere and food! I went with some friends on a Friday night and the place was packed! We waited about 20-minutes and decided to take a high top in the bar. Kate, out wait person, was super friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. She gave us the interesting history of the building and how they use to make George Washington blankets in its previous use. I had the seafood pomodorro and it was amazing. Great selection of seafood and the sauce was perfect. Their complimentary house bread selection was a perfect tool for sponging up all of the sauce. Some people would argue this is not authentic Italian. If it's not in Italy, it is really authentic Italian. Long story short, it IS Italian food that sometimes sticks to the roots of Italy while some have a twist or flair to pay homage to the location it sits in. The menu is small to allow for quality ingredients and freshness. The pizzas are always on point, and having a gluten-free option is a must-have. The garlic knots always start the experience off, especially if you absorb some of the wonderfully seasoned olive oil that is served with them. The lemon pistachio ravioli is heaven to your taste bugs while the bruschetta is perfectly balanced with acidity. The shrimp scampi is the perfect portion with the perfect amount of garlic. The staff are always friendly and professional while always willing to make you feel like you're at grandma's house on Sunday for a family meal. All of this is nested inside an old mill adding a ton of character as it was restored to be somewhat modern while still holding onto the rustic roots of the building. Look up, look down, look all around, and spot the many scooters adorning the walls and restaurant. This is a must visit. You won't regret it. Skip the working in floor scale on your way out so you don't get depressed on how much deliciousness you just ate and go back soon for more! read more

Another 15 minutes and we got our drinks, but the waiter said he'd be right back to take our food order. He was not. Eventually placed the food order and eventually got our food. My portobello and steak ravioli was actually quite good. My wife's scallop penne Milano was too salty and include a nice hair. We moved to Auburn a couple of years ago and appreciate DaVinci's as one of the better restaurants in the L.A. area. Positives - very nice inside and outside dining atmosphere, good food and pleasant, attentive service. Negatives - we wish they'd offer more healthy options, they skimp on pizza toppings (esp. veggies, even if you pay for extra), and the takeout food quality and portions are not as good as that received when dining in the restaurant. Sooo, my husband just happens to make the best red sauce I've ever eaten. Like seriously EVER EATEN. He made some on Wednesday and we ate it for 3 nights in a row knowing we had a date to get together with friends at an Italian restaurant in Lewiston ME. We arrived at the restaurant a little before 5:00. ( I know, I KNOW). Our party was running late so my husband and I secured an early table for five( seriously, I was surprised they allowed this.) Anyway, we were seated and our server came over and took our drink orders. Grey Goose martini for me and an apple cider/tequila margarita for my husband. My martini was perfect, a thin layer of ice skimmed the top. Then our server brought this basket of garlic knots. Holy shit! They were hot and garlicky in the best way possible. Our friends arrived, they ordered drinks and another basket of those god damn knots arrived. Damn! We didn't order apps as the garlic knots were enough. We all ordered salad with our dinners ( we could have chosen soup or salad) it was a small but enough salad given the large amount of bread we'd consumed. I ordered the Ravioli in sherry/cream sauce with grilled chicken. I had a few bites and loved it. Sadly, I couldn't eat much of it because of my over indulgence of the freaking bread. My husband ordered the Carbonara with locally made sausage. It was fantastic. We skipped dessert. Eggplant was very thin, heavily breaded, and almost burned. Meatballs were good. Bread was very good, so I would believe their pizza was good. It was at the high end of $$ as well, almost $$$. Hmm. I've been to Davinci's zillions of times. I used to think it was classier. Perhaps this was because I never experienced haute cuisine in major cities. Nonetheless, I'm still fairly convinced that Davinci's is not what it used to be, in it's old location, which was more intimate and less... je ne sais pas... gluttonous. For a long time, Davinci's was the nicest restaurant in Lewiston, but now that Fuel and Fishbones have moved in (neither of which I have been to, no matter how much I try when I'm home to get reservations!), well... Our server was excellent - so please know I'm not on the fence about service. It's more the atmosphere and food that are three stars. The new location is just so... large. It feels impersonal and kind of like a cafeteria, or someone's Italian wedding at a banquet hall. I really liked the original location, but I know it was too small for the amt. of service they do. The food is good - it's just very large portions and not very creative. I wasn't impressed with the smudgy plates, either (dishwashers!). I had the seafood ciopinno, which was three star quality. The muscles and scallops were good but the shrimp was definitely overcooked. I didn't eat more than three fork-twists of the pasta, either, because dinner comes with salad and bread as well. Oh and my family ordered a bunch of appetisers, all of which were decent. The maple sour cream that comes with the bacon-wrapped scallops is outstanding. The bacon wrapped scallops themselves are comme ci comme ca. The other apps we ordered were sausage stuffed mushrooms and baby clams, neither of which I tried. Ehhhhh. I want to like Davinci's more than I do, or at least as much as I used to, but no matter what, I can't give it more than 3 stars. Huge portions lots of cheese, red sauce and piles of garlic bread knots. Since they have relocated they do offer some lighter options, but it's really known for it heartier options. DaVinci's is a great place for lunch. You can't beat their pizza buffet. After all its all you can eat. There is usually three different pizza's to choose from and a desert pizza as well. Desert pizza differs. For example it may be blueberries or strawberries with cream cheese or apple pie. The buffet includes a salad bar. Which has the usual variety. All fresh. As well as a couple of soups. For example Italian wedding and minestrone. If truth be told, I go there for the free garlic knots. Warm, fresh and chewy. I've never had to wait long for a table. And they can handle large groups. The wait staff are quick and friendly. However I will point out the noise. Its an old mill building and sound bounces around like a ping pong ball.
