Found this place via TikTok. My sister and I were super excited to try the Studio Ghibli inspired drinks, but left feeling underwhelmed. Really need to stop trusting 60 second videos to determine vacation itineraries, but here we are time and time again. We ordered the Totoro Latte and the Howl's Moving Castle drinks and they didn't excite our tastebuds much and tasted more like thick milk with some flavor here or there. I can't say much regarding the actual coffee here because I'm not actually even sure if the drinks we chose had caffeine or not. There's no parking lot, just street parking which can be tricky but we were able to find parking in the neighborhood nearby and we walked to the coffee shop. Love the inspiration for the drinks, but execution was so-so for myself and I don't know if I would go out of my way to return. The shop is pretty cute! I decided to try the specialty "Warhol" which I was a bit skeptical about just because of the citrus being overpowering. The barista literally made my coffee within 1 minutes I'm sure, I was in & out of the shop in less than 3 minutes lol. When we went it was midday and they were already sold out of a lot of drinks so we had to go down the line of 2nd and even 3rd options. Adorable cafe off Sunset in Silverlake that takes coffee and espresso very seriously, and does it well. Yummy and strong iced drinks with alt milks for warm LA days, hit the spot. Also matcha, chai and many creative house crafted drinks with great monikers (Indigo Moon, Defund the Military, Butterfly) and a small assortment of tasty vegan donuts with admittedly bougie but delicious combos like pistachio rose and chocolate sea salt. Not the biggest coconut fan, but their coconut cold foam makes the coffee even better. All their locations feature their own unique color--this one being pink! Cute little coffee shop with cool drinks. The staff were so friendly, I told them it was my first time and she helped me figure out what to get based on what I like. I ended up getting Defund the Military, a matcha and espresso drink. It looked very cool, tasted really good, I've never had anything like it before, and it wasn't too sweet (I also asked for a bit less of the vanilla syrup because I don't like overly sweet drinks). I've been to dayglow a lot of times and it's always a hit or miss. Sometimes the baristas are nice and other times they're just plain rude and treat you like you're beneath them. I was going to give it 3 stars at least but then I saw how the owner was replying to reviews that weren't favorable. I also saw they opened another location that I was excited to go to but after seeing the responses I think I'll go to picnic or the millions of other coffee shops that do a way better job or handling things in a professional way is really weird. Dayglow is a mood that fits modern day feminine vibes and serves awesome coffee! Their Kava Black Coffee is fruity and super strong. Their Costa Rica Latte has that extra flavor that reminds me of an exotic tropical fruit. Comes in hot. Hot Chocolate is super rich, slightly bitter and not at all super sweet. It's great! A very cute cafe in the Silver Lake area. My go-to at Dayglow tends to be their matcha drinks but this time I got the hojicha cream top and it was wonderful and I would definitely get it again. This place lives up to the hype. Locals and tourists alike flock Dayglow. We went to the Silverlake location (unsure if there are others, but that's the one our friends recommended). We arrived on a Saturday morning at 10am. There was one person in line, and a few others sitting at the small tables inside and outside the cafe. They were on their laptops or chatting with other people. The ambiance was very nice, except the music was a bit loud, especially if one is there to do some work. The service was fast, efficient, and the staff was very very nice. The space is cool because during the day it is a coffee shop and at night it turns into more of a bar ambience. The nighttime is appropriately called "Nightglow." Two kinds of pastries are offered: French patisserie and mochi-based. The pastries are sourced from two different companies, and a staff member claims they are all delivered fresh every day. I ordered a bacon cheddar biscuit that was flakey, buttery, and absolutely delicious. The drinks were spectacular. I ordered the Defund The Military. It was a matcha and espresso drink with some sweet cream (that can be made dairy free). I like that they offer custom and also specialty drinks. They also offer oat and almond milk. The prices are a bit steep, but they are worth it. I cannot wait to go back to Dayglow. Unfortunately I do not live in LA but next time I visit, I will 100% stop by for another Defund The Military. read more

If I had a penny for every time I talked about this shop after visiting I would be able to comfortably retire. Dayglow has been on my visit list for years and it's everything I dreamed it would be. The shop is bright, electric, fun and full of plants. What really caught my attention was the retail beans they offer, just WOW. Manhattan, April, Black and White, Nomad, Luna, DAK, just to name a few, are some of the best roasters in the world and they were all dangerously within reach. I could've easily lost all my theoretical penny's at this shop. I ended up ordering the last of an anaerobic from Nomad on espresso which tasted like straight strawberry juice, and the cha cha drink which had espresso, condensed coconut milk, blue algae and cinnamon which was quite fun. The baristas were very friendly, there were plenty of empty seats to choose from, and a few pastry options. Overall, this experience was 10/10. Everyone needs to visit. The coffee was really good, the barista was helpful and very competent. This is a very creative cafe. Their drink selection ranges from simple to complex and thought provoking. It was what I was looking for: a coffee elevated from a drink to an experience. There is nothing I could recommend to improve on the service or the coffee. I would recommend that the plants above the barista be changed out for some vibrant pink flowers. I think it would complete the look they have going a little better. If you enjoy unique specialty coffee/tea drinks that are high quality AND aesthetic, look no further. Dayglow has one of the most impressive menus I've ever seen at a cafe (it's illustrated!). You almost feel as if you are in a nice cocktail bar. Their pastry case includes selections from Sugarbloom Bakery, and vegan donuts from Caffeinated Kitchen. The interior is filled with natural light, and has an open air feel. I got their popular Military Latte, which is a layered espresso/matcha drink, made with bourbon vanilla and dusted with cocoa powder. It was fantastic with oat milk. Both the espresso and matcha were rich in flavor, with balanced acidity. I expected "The Elvis" to be really sweet, but the silky banana cream seemed to be sweetened with just fruit, and the coffee and cacao nibs were wonderfully bitter. The baristas were genuinely friendly, and happy to make drink recommendations. I completed a few hours of work here on a Saturday, and had a lovely experience. Most of us have experienced the afterglow but let me take you through this coffee foreplay. Seduced by its looks I couldn't resist having more and more after this first encounter. I started off with the Elvis which came with maple vanilla, cocoa, peanut butter cream and a sweet presentation! After finishing this drink I was buzzing for more. Next I had Romeo and Juliet and this had juniper distillate, rosewater, mint and angostura with a little cane sugar. Oh wow! The presentation and flavor on point! Now I'm not going to describe every single drink I had because I need to give a quick shoutout to the barista William. It is such a great experience when you have someone so passionate about what they do and how he went in such detail describing the process of making these amazing coffee and tea drinks. No notes! I really enjoyed the Moonrise Kingdom drink I had today on this rainy, cool day. It allowed me to get by caffeine kick, while also making it a yummy dessert-like drink. The roasted marshmallow on top was a lovely addition. This is a small location, and as other reviewers had mentioned, this place can fill up quick. It's funny, when I walked in there was one person ahead of me, some people sitting at the tables and that's it. But after I placed my order, I turned around and there was a small line behind me! Where did all these people come from!? How did they enter so quietly that I didn't even notice!? Regardless, the line went quick. The Moonrise Kingdom drink took a little longer to come out then two other easier-to-prepare drinks, but I could tell the barista was putting a lot of care into my drink-and it made me even more excited to try it. I had no idea this location had so many awesome caffeinated creations. I think I took things so literally I thought whatever was highlighted in neon on the wall was all the had to offer-wrong, LOL, I was so wrong. I'd definitely come back and try a different drink next time, it was hard to pick just one! As most places in this part of town, it was street parking. If you're not in a rush, I recommend parking a little further away and walking. It allows you to notice stores you maybe wouldn't have noticed if you were driving or parked closer.
