I went to DB pickles and I decided to try in a ray of baked good items. Let me first talk about the eclair. While presentation and looks I would give it an a it made me definitely want to eat it, the end the downfall is I could use it for a doorstop. It was way over cooked chocolate tasted like maybe Hershey chocolate with a quarter cup of sugar I mean literally I am a sugar fanatic and it was horrible the chocolate was not even it it looks like a layer of chocolate but it's very deceiving it's literally liquid chocolate it's like liquid sugar. Then we have the Italian cookies the Italian cookies are about the only thing I'd say or probably what you normally would assume that they're going to be they were good. Carrot cake was very very dense the frosting was good but overall it just was not something I would give more than maybe a C. The brownie forget about it I can't say anything good about it other than presentation it looked delicious. I went to dinner tonight at DB Pickles because of the high reviews that my friends gave to them. They said ALL the food was good so I was excited to try. I have NEVER done a Yelp review but it was necessary to share because I had a horrible experience . I ordered a "rueben" minus kraut and made a point to say on rye with thousand island "just like a Rueben" . I was delivered a freezing cold deli sandwich with cold corn beef and Swiss with no thousand island . I immediately told her it was to be a rueben minus kraut meaning "hot melty toasted with thousand island". She proceeded to take to the kitchen and yell I wanted it hot . I got a BURNT sandwich sent to me!!! Like "scrape the toast" and hope it doesn't taste like crap burnt which it absolutely did ! She could tel it was burnt and gave it to me anyways . Asked how everything was as I had scraped burnt toast covering my own plate and she had to ask??! Then I got home with the carry out I got for my son and it was a disgusting Italian soggy piece of bread with lunch meat thrown on it !!! I wouldn't recommend at all! read more

I rated this 2 stars as it's an ok place to eat, but it's a terrible place to order via Door Dash. Placed an order at 6pm. Quoted time is between 20-30 minutes. Received the update that a dasher was there to pick up our order about 6:20pm. He was there probably for 10/15 min and then our dasher changed around 6:45. We inquired about our order via DD and was contacted 15 minutes later by the new dasher, via text, asking if we had received our order (which we hadn't). She then called, and said it would be a bit before our order was ready since the restaurant staff claimed the previous dasher had picked it up. We waited an additional 40 minutes for the food to be contacted by Door Dash. They stated the restaurant refused to remake our order and they were going to refund us. It would have been nice if DB Pickles would have contacted us prior, letting us they would be cancelling our order. We ended up waiting almost 2 hours to not get any food from them and having to order food and go and pick it up from somewhere else. They have ok food, but if you want to actually get your order, I'd advise picking it up if you would like to receive anything. read more

Second time visiting this restaurant. First time was good! The tuna melt was on point, and the fries are good. We were full so we didn't get dessert on our first visit, but the memory of the indulgent dessert case was calling us back! The cookie selection was fresh, not in crumbles, reasonably priced, and while not baked on site, they were fresh and delicious. They were not stale or broken bits like other restaurants in town. They didn't have that freezer burnt taste like other deli's. Nor did they claim to have made them "on site" like other so called delis. The best thing was no one screeching at you, no one was rude, and no one claimed something untrue. The staff was excellent, friendly, welcoming and interested in you as a customer. Our initial visit, for lunch late one afternoon, was the beginning of a new favorite eatery. The menu is enormous, with something to please even the most finicky of eaters. It's standard deli fare, with enough kinds of sandwiches and entrées to keep you coming back just to try the things you didn't get to the first time. The Black and Bleu burger is one of the best burgers I've ever eaten. The servers make you feel at home, though don't go to DB Pickles if you are in a hurry. The pace is laid back and moves slowly. Many would consider this to be a negative, but it truly is just a part of the ambiance of the restaurant. Sometimes it is a good thing to slow down a bit. Don't be surprised to be seated by the owner, or have him show up at your table to make sure everything is just right. Today while in Ormond Beach I suggested to my family that we try DB Pickles as I always hear Marc Bernier on WNDB praising them for their fine food. I ordered a 1/2 Chicken salad sandwich on rye and ceasar salad. What I got was two halves of what looked like wheat bread with a small scoop of not very creamy chicken salad plopped in the center of each half. The salad was dry and salty. What we thought was a hot roast beef sandwich was sent back to be grilled. This took nearly a half hour. The pasta fazool was not edible. The service was slow. It is either too far north or too far south. The best deli I've ever been to was in Miami Beach, and the second best was in Manhattan. This one could have been in Kansas, if one were to guess from the food. The pickle bar did have OK half-sours, but everything else was unremarkable (and none of them were made in-house). The corned beef was just like what you get at the deli counter! In Indiana! It was from a loaf, just like the ham and turkey in the Cuban sandwich. The third entree we tried was the fish and chips, and they were tasty but not particularly crispy. The sides were right out of the foodservice tubs. Both the slaw and the macaroni salad were astonishingly sweet. Not what I'm looking for in a slaw or macaroni salad experience. They get their four stars for a couple of reasons: the cheesecake was outstanding and very generous. The perfect cheesecake serving is about 1/2" at the outside and it should be filling. Theirs is about 3.5" and quite yummy. Generous, even. I got mine to go and it will take a while to finish it. It's a family restaurant that has a really wide ranging menu, and I'm sure they deliver on almost everybody's expectations. The last reason they get the fourth star was for not having a TV in the dining room. I'd go back again, but not expect it to be a deli. It's a locally-owned gem of a family restaurant, though. My husband took me here for the first time today and what a hidden gem. Not what I expected at all. It's a sit-down place with quite a large menu. Once the drink is ordered they have a small pickle bar to munch from. We both ordered a deli style sandwich and it was delicious. Their half portion is more than fulfilling and though the fries are a little extra, they're well worth it. Crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. My family and I eat here a couple of times a month. It's a long drive from our house but we have yet to have a poor meal. I was kind of surprised to see others complaining of poor service. Our first time there we had spotty service but every visit after that has been impeccable. Try their signature burger. It's a beast with a huge amount of fries as well as cheese and bacon. My son loves it. They also have some pretty decent fried chicken and the potato pancakes are very tasty. I've never left hungry which is high praise from me.
