We were from out of town visiting friends in Surprise, AZ and heard the best steakhouse in town was a hour away. Made reservations and had dinner there this past Saturday. DC Steak House you did not disappoint. From the awesome appetizers to the most fabulous Alaskan Crab Legs I have ever had. Wish we had a DC Steakhouse in Wisconsin. Our server Jess was spot on. My husband took me here for out 18year anniversary. We usually go to The Keg. Any-who wasn't to impressed with it. We received our bread first looked like the French bread we get from Albertsons I was expecting more of an artisan type bread. We then received our salad it was welted and some parts were rotten the cucumbers were yellow and looked like they were frozen then thawed out. The croutons were the only good thing on the salad. Our entrees came I got a ribeye with a loaded baked potato. I was kinda torn away of the presentation of my plate. My poor ribeye was swimming in the oil. My husband got a filet with lobster tail. OMG... $70 for the 5oz and a tail. They need to put what the market price is. It's like a hidden fee crazy fee. I don't think we will ever return here. So it was our first time at this restaurant. I had made reservations for my husbands birthday. Was so disappointed. We were sat as a party of two in a small room with a large party which had 7 kids. Instead of the music the restaraunt played we heard crying and ipads. The other part of the resteraunt had seating and was only adults. Just had a great meal at D.C. Steakhouse...and I am so excited because our family loves steak and we needed a restaurant just like this in Downtown Chandler! My husband and I both had the Filet and we loved it...done perfectly! Also, the wasabi ranch dressing, which was recommended to me by a friend who had it with her salad, was so yummy! (It has quite the kick!) The atmosphere was perfect. Elegant, yet hip...but not stuffy! The murals are beautiful and the bar area is really cool. We were so anxious to try this restaurant, we ended up taking our 3 daughters with us to celebrate our youngest's 4th birthday (keep in mind, our daughters behave well at restaurants, or we wouldn't have brought them). Everyone was very accomodating to the kids. And even though they do not have a kids menu, my girls loved their dinners...they shared ribs (sauce is amazing...want to bottle it up and bring it home with me!), a chicken caesar salad (which they said was "the best") and the littlest one had chicken fingers. And the girls had yummy cupcakes to celebrate the birthday! Everyone was very happy and we will definitely be returning to D.C. Steakhouse soon...but maybe without the kids next time so we can have a real "date night"!!! read more

Great atmosphere! However lots of fly's and Knats all through dinner. Wait staff was awesome!! Pasta not impressed with but huge portions. Filets and ribs and pork chops awesome!!! Best in the state. Salads and appetizers amazing. Included wings, fries green beans, cheese curds and best shrimp cocktail. Baked potatoes underdone. No excuse for this as it was under baked. Stopped in for HH. Ordered wine and shrimp cocktail. Very small pour of wine, even for $6. Shrimp had seen better days. Really chewy and not fully deveined. Cocktail sauce was nice. Ordered a side salad. How hard is that to mess up? Greens were also really chewy, stale, just yuk. Croutons came out of a box and when I got what I thought was balsamic vinaigrette, it was just vinegar. Hello! Last, I gave 2 $20 bills to bartender and was shorted a $10. Had dinner here for NYE with friends of ours and the Filet Mignon with their lobster was amazing! Steak was so tender and lobster was cooked perfect that it melts in your mouth. The calamari was so flavorful and not chewy at all, as would other places. Would definitely go back there again, nice atmosphere. read more

There were definitely a few items that were not great. My wife and I went out to celebrate our anniversary and left the kids with a sitter. We were sat immediately but waited for a greet from our server for about 5 minutes. She kept it coldly professional. She was not very attentive. She did have a slightly larger party and probably more inside that, we could not see. The courses were timed well so as not to interfere with the previous course. The main course arrived and left with the server telling us that she would be back to refill my water. My wife's steak was overcooked and mine just slightly. I decided to eat mine as my wife waited to tell the server. 15 minutes later no server. I was done and have no refill. When she finally made it back we told her about the steak and with no apology took it away and had another one cook. The table next to us had an overcooked meal too. 10 minutes later the steak was extremely undercooked same as the table next to us. the third time it came out better than mine. The server next to us got their table a free drink. We were ready to go and were offered a free dessert. This is where the server's attitude warmed up. We needed to go to get our kids. When she dropped off the check and dessert, she was so concerned about how awesome the cake was ( it would have been better to show pride in the steak). I did not look at the bill and just gave her my card. When she came back, the fastest she ever came back to the table, I looked at my receipt. $3.01 charge to use my credit card. So, of course, I looked at the bill closer and noticed that they add 2 cents out of nowhere. I can forgive service and the kitchen because it is a tough industry, especially now with everyone looking for employees ( I do not know if they had that issue). It may only be 2 cents but if they are getting that from everyone every day, that is bad business. We will not ever go back. WATCH YOUR RECEIPTS!!! read more

Would not recommend - the restaurant interior was fair at best, service was good but the steak was not good at all. We paid $69 for a 28 oz Porterhouse that was unevenly cooked and not tasty at all - I've made tastier flat iron steaks at home. When we mentioned that the steak was below average and unevenly cooked our waiter, he apologized but didn't offer to replace it or offer a different option. This was our 2nd visit to this restaurant. Our first was amazing, however, we were disappointed with this experience. We had reservations for both visits- this time, they attempted to seat us in the way back right corner, one of the worst tables in the restaurant. We declined the table and ended up waiting at the bar for a table. I really expected that, with a reservation, we would be offered a better table. The food was still amazing but the sautéed mushrooms offered with every steak proved to be a disappointment as there were exactly 2 small mushrooms - very underwhelming and not what we expected based on our previous visit. During our waiting time at the bar, I ordered a lemon drop martini which was very good, however, the 2nd one ordered during dinner was not - it was missing the sugar on the rim and contained ice cubes??? Since when does any martini have ice cubes?! Anyway, the overall experience was disappointing because we were so excited to go back due to our previous experience. Very disappointed this time. Parking is far from entrance for disabled at their new location. Our two filets were overcooked the first time around. One was under cooked the second time. Did not send back again since the other three at our table were almost does eating. I wrote to Dean Lapland and his response was "thank you for letting us know". Not even an apology! We should have gotten at the very least that. Something should have been offered to us especially on a $200+ bill. The mojito was awful too. Don't think we will return. I think this restaurant is overrated. I do have to say that the waiter was excellent. The bread they gave us was nothing special. We ordered the shrimp cocktail for the appetizer and it was very good shrimp We ordered salads with blue cheese dressing and blue cheese crumbles. The salad was good. What we really went there for was the steak. I ordered the 5-ounce filet mignon (medium)...supposed to be pink in the center, all the way through. It was not and there was no flavor to the meat at all. I could not eat it. My husband order the small ribeye and it was the same, was not pink all the way though the center and it had no flavor. He could not eat his, either. The waiter did not come back to see how we liked the steaks, so we did not want to wait for another. The baked potatoes were forgettable. The new location is beautiful and the atmosphere is equally as beautiful. However, we dined here for the first time and it was mediocre. The place was packed, which was concerning considering COVID and no extra precautions were taken to ensure social distancing or the transfer of germs. None of the staff wore masks either if that's important to you. There definitely was not 6 feet between tables. Our party each got something different and the reviews were mixed. I personally ordered the filet mignon and was not impressed. It was pretty dry with absolutely no flavoring/seasoning and covered in cooking oil. The lemon chicken pasta was extremely sour as well. The chicken and ribs seemed to be the most popular dish from those that ordered it in our party. I think it would be great for drinks and an appetizer but definitely not a favorite for celebrations or for quality steak. I would return to the commercial Mastro's before returning here. read more

BUT I now understand the statistics I recently heard from Anthony Bourdain...93 percent of restaurants fail due to service and management...not the food or location. I lead two Meetup groups with over a hundred members....I bring folks from both groups and my company to DC despite some minor issues with their food. That stops now. Their host/manager has been repeatedly rude and unprofessional to my clients and group members...last poor experience was tonight...an older, shortish, balding man who thinks he holds the key to Bukingham Palace (night of 5/31 was last experience with him). He needs to be replaced, DC owners...he will continue to drive away your loyal customers. On the bright side, tonight we decided to simply leave and go to Vintage 95...amazing, fantastic experience....my large foodie network and I have now moved on to better places. Every time we are at downtown Chandler, my husband and I talk about this place. "We still haven't tried the new steakhouse". At first I saw all the negative reviews and didn't want to go anywhere near it. Then, as their star average improved, I added it to my huge bookmark list. We still didn't end up going there for a several months because I was waiting for a time when we were properly dressed. It seemed like a classy kind of place. I always peeked in there wistfully as we walked around the corner to Paletas Betty, eyeing the candlelit white linen tables, well dressed couples sipping martinis at the bar and catching a few notes of jazz music wafting out the front door as the pretty hostess in her little black dress opened it wide while greeting patrons. Our actual experience there did not live up to these expectations. When you look a little closer, you see there are paper placemats on top of those crisp white linens. And the smooth jazz music gets overwhelmed when the restaurant is more than half full and is absorbed into the annoyingly loud din in the place. And the bar? No draft beer, the bottles they do have are $5 a piece (and they must store them warm b/c the hubby got one that was so skunky he could barely finish it) and the markup on the wine list (by the glass options) was high. I paid $10 for a glass of something that would cost $16 a bottle retail. I am giving them an extra star because my fillet was cooked perfectly and was very tender. But this may be due to the fact that I always order my steak medium well. From the other reviews, it looks like if I had wanted it rare I would have been out of luck. The sweet potato fries that it came with, however, were bland and undercooked. A huge disappointment since I really love sweet potato fries. These tasted like they came frozen in a bag. And the generic, supermarket brand bag, not even Alexia or the ones they have at Trader Joes. Don't even get me started on the salad. A sad little pile of extremely wilted iceberg lettuce with a couple of slices of cucumber and some croutons. I know it is a steakhouse and so most people are just there for the meat, but seriously it was pathetic. One of their specials that night was that you could add a small lobster tail to any steak for just $10. I was super excited about this since I LOVE lobster. It was served out of the shell, always a plus, and with both a lemon wedge as well as drawn butter. Unfortunately, no amount of butter could drown out the overwhelmingly salty taste of the piece of rubber in the shape of a lobster tail that was on my plate. I wanted to complain to my server but she was MIA for most of the meal. By the time she reappeared we just wanted to get out of there. I doubt we will return. read more

This restaurant has horrible customer service standards and policies ! My friend had bought a 4 person groupon for her sisters bday, and planned on going with her husband, sister, and sisters husband. Her husband passed shortly before the bday dinner, and when the 3 person group showed up, DC Steakhouse refused to honor the groupon because there was no 4th person!! They explained the circumstances, and offered to buy the meal for the absent 4th person, the steakhouse still would not budge. How cold can a company be to refuse service for a group of high paying customers, who had just been put into a devastating position. I would never spend a dime at an establishment with such poor customer relations practices. read more

Well...After reading the other reviews we decided to give DC a shot for Valentine's Weekend. Not a good idea. Once again they were not prepared for the crowd. We had a 7pm reservation, called in 4 days in advance, and we were seated at 8pm with no menus, no bread, no wine, except us whining that we felt like this was an episode of "Hells Kitchen". We had to laugh (group of 6) and we were not in a hurry, yet we had to ask for everything, server, wine, another wine, ect... We finally got bread at 8:22pm, and after the bread the salad, and steaks came out pretty quick, but they could not figure out who's steak was who's...and the three women's steaks were all delivered to the wrong person, one had to be sent back, ordered M.R. brought M.W., not good...brought a new steak Rare...and the same person got shorted wine from the person as they tried to pour to all six of us from a bottle of wine brought to the table uncorked with the cork in the bottle, not good... All of that on our first visit ever to DC, and they did not offer us anything for compensation, no offer, no nothing..."sorry we are still learning"..."thanks for your patience"..."It's been overwhelming" told to us by our server... It's really too bad, nice place, nice people, my steak was perfect and I love the fact that they serve every steak with sauteed mushrooms...love em, and the price point of the menu is right on...Wine list could be better especially for a "Steakhouse" they are competing with some heavy hitters in the Southeast Valley, they better step it up a bit... Crazy thing is everyone wanted to go back to give them another try when they aren't busy, go figure...not sure I will. read more

Not worth the price. Expected fine dining and felt like I was at a chain steakhouse or less. Service was quite horrendous for many reasons..drink cups stayed empty until we asked MORE than once. We had to send a cup back because it was broken and they never brought the drink we had in it back. It took 21 minutes to receive our wine and martini after ordering them. The food was not fine steakhouse dining quality. Not once did wait staff check if we enjoyed our meal. Our sides came out after our meals. I told 3 people we had a birthday before we sat AND in the middle of meal, they never remembered to bring anything for birthday so I said something at the end of the meal after halfway through a dessert (which was not even for the birthday person) the waitress came over and put the candle in a half eaten dessert away from guest and moved it in front of birthday person...felt like I was dining at Applebees with bourbon and bones pricing. Beyond disappointing. The only thing this place has going for it right now is it's location and atmosphere. read more

The waitress was good but did make a couple large mistakes that assisted in ruining what should have been a great dining experience. Here's where it started I ordered a 7 and 7 cocktail, they gave Gin and Sprite, normally substituting Sprite is perfectly acceptable but substituting Gin for Whiskey, that's a first for me. Next came the appetizers before the bread and butter, not sure how this mistake was made but traditionally the bread is brought out immediately so you aren't waiting an hour before eating anything in case you're extremely hungry upon arrival. Then came the Tomahawk steak, it was nearly completely raw and the waitress said it looked like 'rare', stated she requested 'medium rare' and I informed her we requested medium. I could eat any more than a bite of this disgustingly prepared steak, which cost over $200 by itself. Of course they still charged me for the gin and sprite that I didn't order and they still charged me for the Tomahawk that was not edible and likely unsafe to eat due to it being completely raw and room temperature. The only solution offered by this restaurant was to take the raw room temperature steak that sat for at least an hour untouched and bring it back to the kitchen to cook a little longer, there are so many problems with that 'solution' that no rational individual should consider it. I paid a $1000 tab and I still tipped the waitress over 20% because it's the right thing to do as I assume this is a company wide management issue. This is absolutely the poorest excuse for a fine dining establishment in our beloved Valley of the Sun, I would challenge anyone to showcase a place worst than this. read more

We started going to DC Steak House from the beginning, and it was awesome. Lately, however, not so much. I booked a reservation via Opentable and very carefully selected "Occasion: Anniversary". When we were seated, there was ZERO mention of any "occasion" by the server (important later). We were 4 adults and 2 children, 6 and 4. There is NO children's menu, which we knew and my wife and daughter are used to sharing with the girls. We were served in a timely manner and asked the server to wait after drinks were served to settle on what we wanted. Order was 3 Top Sirloins, all medium, all with baked potatoes. Son-in-law went for the boneless ribeye, medium rare. Bread was served and it was not nearly what it used to be. Looked to be some sort of "artisan" loaf, very soft without much flavor. In the past, they had very good, chewy french-style. Not any more. The salads were probably bagged, as they looked a bit wilted and not fresh. One slice of tomato instead of the 3-4 cherry tomatoes and pepper of the past, a couple of black olives and a couple slices of cucumber. One had ranch and one had bleu cheese and both complained of their dressing tasting a bit sour. Entree's came out in a very timely manner and this is where the disappointment =really= set it. Of the 4 steaks, one was over-cooked a bit and 3 were undercooked; 2 were sent back. The ribeye, ordered medium rare, was literally raw. Even my son-in-law, who will eat most anything that isn't fighting back to hard, would not eat that rare steak. Wife's top sirloin was medium rare, verging on rare. Mine was a wee bit more done, but was firmly medium rare. Daughter's steak was a definite medium well when she ordered a sort of "medium+" (yeah, I know). The ribeye and wife's sirloin were both sent back. I =should= have sent mine back just to heat it up, as my steak was barely lukewarm and my potato not much better. Had the butter not already been soft, I doubt it would have actually melted very much. We all finished up and wanted some dessert. I ordered the 7-layer chocolate cake, with is still excellent, and shared it with the 4 y.o. Took about half of it home. We asked about the lava cake, daughter's favorite, and were told that it was available for "special occasions", which I had checked off on Opentable, and the server did serve it. She and the 6 y.o. shared that, and enjoyed it very much. We =were= charged for it as a "celebration" charge, when normally this is complimentary. Again, no mention of our "occasion" by the server, so I can oly assume that Opentable never passed this on to DC, or they chose to ignore it. The final insult came with I was charged $5.50 to use my debit/credit card. There was no mention of this that I saw on the menu, nor did the server mention it. Total bill, with tip, for 4 meals and 2 desserts, was $210+. Don't know about you, but I'm not in the habit of carrying around that much cash, these days. As we have had cooking issues with DC several times in the past, I'm really sad to say that this will be our last trip to DC Steakhouse and we will be looking elsewhere to get our "steak fix". read more

So, I tried to go here last night with my mother and daughter...we walk in and its 5:45 on Tuesday. Yes, there were people eating but there were also plenty of open tables. The hostess asks if we have a reservation and I let her know that we do not as its a TUESDAY (not really prime eating out day..) and its 5:45! She then informs me that they are totally booked for the evening with reservations. So, I really felt like she didnt care that we were here to spend our money and I felt like she was rude. She offered no help nor did she even try to accomodate us. That's fine by me...we just went to The Keg and spent our money there :) Which by the way was DELICIOUS and I will NOT be going back to DC. read more

I can't say enough about this establishment's top notch customer service, outstanding food and drink selection. Our daughter wanted a small wedding ceremony, but we thought it would be nice to have a higher end celebratory dinner. We could not be happier. For instance, the wedding cake vendor missed the flower delivery at the restaurant (to add flowers to the wedding cake) so one of the awesome staff members, Victoria, went out of her way - and took the time - to elegantly decorate the wedding cake with the flowers herself; it looked absolutely beautiful! I enthusiastically recommend DC's Steakhouse to everyone. read more
