This place was a wonderful find surprising. I didn't even know it was here. The environment is very classy. It's a little small, all the tables sit around the center bar, but it's well decorated and very elegant. Our party sat at the bar, and the service was friendly, prompt, professional. Everything you expect.. My favorite part was the steak which was actually very good; perfectly cooked, extremely tender and flavorful. The chimichurri was a wonderful surprise, most places sweeten it a little too much for me, not CHop, instead here it was spiced with a little bit of red chili pepper or serrano, I couldn't tell, but it was so good. Our son-in-law learned of CHoP and sent us a link before we headed to AZ. He seemed to think it was a new place, when, actually, we later found out that it has been around since 2012. My husband and I looked over the link, and what caught our eye was how pricey it was. Still, we decided that we could splurge and give it a try. Before going, our son-in-law called them. Our plan was to have an early dinner on Monday. He was told to come on in, and no reservation was needed. When we arrived, we were greeted and seated quickly. We were given a booth that easily fit the six of us. After looking at the menu, we were ready to order. One of our grandsons and I ordered the 7 oz. filet. Each entree comes with one side. We both chose asparagus. Our son-in-law had a New York strip steak, and another grandson ordered the Argentinian skirt steak. The third grandson had a chicken dish. We were offered some bread, which we accepted. It was good and gave us something to snack on while our food was being prepared. We all enjoyed our meals. My husband, who also got a filet, had it topped with mushrooms sautéed in Madeira wine, and broccolini. He said, in hindsight, that he wished he hadn't ordered the mushrooms as they overpowered the flavor of the steak. We all got our steaks cooked medium rare. I must say that the filet was one of the best I've ever had! They dry-age their steaks on-site. The meat was very tender and had a great, robust flavor. Service was excellent -- attentive without being overbearing. As for ambiance, the dining room was on the dimly lit side, and the decor says "upscale steakhouse." My husband, my son and I went to CHoP in Chandler on a Tuesday evening for dinner and as a goodbye to our son who is heading back to college for his final semester. CHoP wasn't too busy being a Tuesday. The ambiance is classy, white tablecloths, dimmed lighting and it was an excellent experience! My husband had a ribeye with Gouda Mac & cheese, my son had a pork chop with duck fat fries and I had filet mignon with asparagus and mushrooms...all of the food was excellent and perfectly prepared. We each tried each others sides and I wish I'd also ordered the fries. So good! Our server was 'on it' and very attentive! She asked if there was anything special we were celebrating and we told her our son would graduate in May! When we finished dinner, she brought him a delicious bread pudding dessert with a celebratory sparkler and a graduation diploma decoration! So sweet!!! I highly recommend CHoP in Chandler! read more

A restaurant week choice on the last day. It was my celebration dinner for me on a successful event I had hosted. I set reservations for 4pm when they first opened. As a rule of thumb I don't usually go to restaurants when they first open or right before they close, but I took a chance here. I was not disappointed. My sister and I were the first customers dining, so there was no noise from talking only the music playing. The playlist had me grooving in my seat and singing throughout dinner lol. Our waitress was great in checking on us, answering questions and following through on specific order requests. I ordered the BLT Salad, Ora King Salmon at a medium temperature, and the chocolate cake. Everything was so great The wedge salad was refreshing, the salmon was cooked and seasoned just right and the dessert was a molten chocolate cake with a nice sized scoop of ice cream on top. I don't enjoy leaving negative reviews, but given how much we spent, I feel it's important to share our experience. We visited for Mother's Day, and the prix-fixe meal was $80 per person for our party of six. At that price point, I expected the food to be exceptional, but unfortunately it was very disappointing. The service and ambiance were the highlights of the experience, and the staff was attentive throughout our meal. The food, however, fell far short of expectations. The first course consisted of muffins and fruit. The muffins were decent but tasted store-bought, and the fruit was simply served in a bowl with very little presentation. The short rib lacked flavor, and the potato wedges underneath appeared to be the type you would find in a frozen grocery store bag. The steak was overcooked and bland, and the dessert crepes were underwhelming as well. By the end of the meal, no one in our group was satisfied with their food. Spending nearly $500 for six people and leaving disappointed was frustrating. Based on our experience, the set menu and food quality need significant improvement to justify the price. The price point just doesn't match the quality. our waitress Carissa was the best and really made our experience. Our ribeye was so tender and flavorful. It was also perfectly cooked. Every thing else was lacking. Definitely skip the mac & cheese and it's 99% mac 1% cheese. The fondue was really yummy and probably the only thing worth ordering again, but it felt like they could serve more cheese. I soo wanted this place to be a 5 star - it's a very nice steak house, in south chandler and great service, but 4 stars is probably fair. My wife and I had made a reservation here to celebrate our anniversary on a Friday evening. It was fairly busy, but we could have had a table without a reservation. Service was amazing - i dont recall our servers name, but she was really good. My wife went with the summer 3 course "fixed price" menu. Starter was Heirloom tomatoes & gorgonzola salad, really good. Main was filet - cooked perfectly and great tasting. Dessert was bread pudding and it was also delicious. I opted for a "chef special" Argentine ribeye, really good, but not thr best. Our server also brought us a slice of cheesecake for our anniversary - again, she was the best part of the dinner. Food preparation, portion and flavors were really good but their prices are outrageously high - you can get steaks as good at other steakhouses in the east valley. Biggest disappointment was the dont serve prime rib! How can you be a top there steakhouse and not have prime rib on your menu? Finally, it is a really nice steakhouse in the south part of chandler with a very nice ambiance (kinda dark and romantic), I just wish their prices were more competitive - and they should really add prime rib back on their menu. read more

Walking in you're greeted with beautiful decor!!! The food was exceptional!! We had the shrimp cocktail to start. The shrimp were huge , tender & delicious! We shared a Caesar, which was also wonderful. Three of us ordered the fillet, which were cooked to perfection. You probably could've cut it with your fork. I ordered brussels sprouts as my side, which was amazing ! They were cooked with a balsamic reduction and little pieces of bacon. Everything was so good! Went there back to back nights this week. Service was 5 stars on Monday. Little less than 5 on Tuesday, but the food, drinks and atmosphere made up for it. First time checking out this spot--always up for a new food adventure! Service? Super friendly, no complaints there. The vibe inside was moody--like, really dark. Perfect if you're into that cozy, intimate feel with friends or family, but I wouldn't have minded a little more light to actually see my food (but hey, maybe that's just me!). Now, the food... hmm. Let's just say my wallet felt lighter $$$ than my stomach! I'm a chicken lover, and the only option was the hen. Looked fancy, but the flavors didn't exactly do a happy dance--kind of bland, with two lonely mushroom pieces chilling on top and some sauce on the side trying to make friends. Just not my kind of plate :) Hubby went for the shrimp starter and medium rare Wagyu with a baked potato (plus a drink ). He couldn't finish fully, which never happens. It was... fine. Not bad, but not 'can't-wait-to-come-back' good either. Oh, and FYI--the meat chop menu comes with a complimentary side, but the other mains? Nope. My wife and I went to CHoP Chandler for Valentine's Day. I knew it was going to be busy, so I made a reservation, which was super easy and very convenient. Our table was ready as soon as we got there, and the entire staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. (Special shout outs to Karissa, our server, and Matt, who came by to check in with us a few times during the evening -- they were both incredible!) There was a specialized menu just for Valentine's Day, but if that menu is any indication, the food there must be amazing all around. We each got one appetizer, one entrée and one dessert, and every single thing we ordered was nothing short of phenomenal. Between the two of us, we had a Caesar salad (one of the best I've ever had), Korean beef skewers, filet mignon (cooked perfectly at medium rare), the best scallops I've ever tried in my life, red velvet cake, and bread pudding. The food was filling but not heavy -- we left feeling like we'd gotten our money's worth but not bloated or sluggish from all of it -- and considering the fancy menu and ambiance, the cost was well worth the quality of the meal. A friend and I went to CHoP last night for their dinner week menu. As always, the ambience was lovely and cozy. Our server, Noey, was outstanding- friendly, attentive, didn't rush us or interrupt when our conversation was flowing, kept our drinks full and showed she paid attention by bringing my friend a little sweet treat on the side of her drink. (Thank you, Noey!) The food was amazing! I started with the wagyu meatball and my friend had the lobster bisque. For mains we both ordered the pork chop with apple compote and not only was it heavenly, it was HUGE. Easily enough for 4 people so I have a ton of leftovers. The pork came with fries which were perfectly crispy and seasoned. For dessert we both had the lava cake, and which to my delight was very dark cocoa-like and not overly sweet. Ambience is great, food is consistently wonderful, staff are always friendly and you too can experience the thickest biggest pork chop that exists outside of a large hog. Menu has some great choices, the facility is split up into formal dinning, outside patio, bar seating or large group high tops. Everything on the menu looked awesome, but they were also offering specials for $55 and you could pick an appetizer, entree and dessert. We opted for 2 choices of the $55 menu and all the choices were great! The meatloaf, lobster bisque, pork chop, wagyu meatballs were wonderful and rich in flavor. We used to come here a lot but haven't been in quite a while. Last night we came for my birthday and what a disappointment. The pork chop was a disappointing piece of shoe leather, charred black on the outside, rare in middle. Likewise, the filets my son and daughter in law had were charred black (burnt) on the outside. The ribs my sister had were done well but came with a bottle of bbq sauce poured all over them. Bbq sauce should be glazed onto them, not just poured on top. The drinks were good and service OK but she never checked back in to see how the food was or if we needed more drinks. Overall, not a good dining experience. The asparagus at Chop was delicious. I like how large they were. The mac and cheese had a cheddar crumble on top. I think it was a cheddar tasting bread. At least it was crunchy like a cheese it might be. I thought it was a little like a crunchy cheddar cracker crumble. The macaroni and cheese itself was creamy. I didn't think that part of the dish was overwhelming, which was good. The macaroni itself was softer rather than on the al dente side. The filet was delicious. It was very smokey and charred on top. I know some people like wood fired meat. This is a wood fired steakhouse. Looks like they fire grill the seafood too. There is a wood grilled seafood section on the menu. The pork chops were amazing. The meat was soft and tender and fell right off the bone. The braised beef is very filling and delicious. It is very soft and tender. One night it was moist and flavorful. The other night it was a bit dry. The mashed potatoes tasted amazing the first night. The carrot and broccoli was good too the first time I went. The crispy calamari has a thick bread coating. It is similar to what you would find on a mozzarella stick. The sauce tasted like a sauce that would go well with a mozzarella stick too. I think it tasted like marinara. The menu description says that it is a chili Calabrian sauce. I didn't think it tasted spicy at all. Surprisingly the calamari didn't come out as rings. They were cut into sticks. They also had the mouth feel of mozzarella sticks. The service was fast and we got our food quickly. The restaurant was dark and I thought it was very cozy. They had two tv screens showing games being played at the bar. I wasn't paying attention. It could have been football and basketball. Ended up coming here a few weeks ago for restaurant week. Got an earlier reservation. It was getting packed as our time there went on, so definitely a good idea to make a reservation when possible. Luckily our reservation coincided with happy hour. The grapefruit cosmo I got was strong. The grapefruit couldn't hide the alcohol. The shrimp from the shrimp cocktail was surprisingly very fresh. They were quite large too. Filet mignon was a bit disappointing as it wasn't that tender. However, they did cook it at a good medium rare. I loved the brussels sprouts sides we got that wasn't part of the restaurant week set. They were cooked well, and the sauce was delicious. Bread pudding was too sweet for me. I was done with it after a few bites. Overall, the restaurant week deal was pretty worth it. Very filling, and the price wasn't bad. read more

To say I was disappointed would be an understatement. Went there for Christmas Eve. Our server was absent most of our visit. The 1st round of drinks came at several different times and was wrong. Never asked if we wanted another round so we had to track her down to order another one. Dinner itself was average at best, especially for the prices. The Longhorn Steak house does a better job with steaks. My wife and I had never been there before so we were excited. The others in our party had been there and at some time they agreed that this restaurant continues to decline. So we spent a grand. Cut back on tips and most likely will never go there again. We went here for AZ restaurant week. My wife and daughter both got the lobster bisque. The two soups looked different and one didn't have croutons. The soup was ok but not great. I had the wagyu meatball as an appetizer, which was delicious, the pork chop, and cheesecake. The pork chop was huge and good, but nothing amazing. My wife had the Maui beef skewers which were cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious. My daughter had the salmon and said it was really good. We also had two of the chocolate lava cakes, one was fully cooked and the other only had a small amount of "lava". While the flavor of the cakes were good, they weren't lava cakes. The restaurant is dark which made it difficult to read the menu. On the positive side, the staff and service were great. I would give CHoP four stars but the overall quality of food was not worth the price. Maybe if we hadn't gone during restaurant week, the food would have been better. read more

I finally convinced my husband to return after two years. Booked on open table for a booth. We were placed directly behind the host station. Two seater. Not a booth. Shared bench. He's a big man. When we inquired we were told nothing else was available. The waitress came and we expressed concern. She said she would look into it and never came back. We ended up leaving. This place sucks. Consistently! We will never return. Went home hungry. Don't know if the owners are the same as Living Room and Sea and Smoke but service is bad all around. You wait forever for a drink.
