Honestly the best steakhouse for the price, especially for birthdays. And I mean great quality for the price! We usually come here for birthdays due to their loyalty deal and it's totally worth it. We always order steak and we've tried a few of them. However this time around we chose very similar steaks to keep the price the same and use the deal. Both New York Strip. The baked potato is so good! I highly recommend this and make sure to say yes to the bread before dinner. The hosts and servers are very well trained, respectful and attentive. No complaints from me. Another year and it's a birthday review. I returned to utilize the awesome free birthday entree with a purchase of an entree. Such a great deal for a steakhouse. I got the peppercorn steak with a baked potato. The kiddos got their kids meal. One with cheesy pasta as they call it but it's really just Mac and cheese. My other son got chicken tenders. Their kids meal is a great deal as they get a veggie tray which has carrots, celery and crackers, their choice of an entree, a drink, and even ice cream! I wish I could just come and order a kids meal. The best part is the ciabatta bread that comes to your table before the meal arrives. If used to be sourdough but unfortunately they changed it. My weekly "Mom Night" was unfortunately let down tonight. Decided to have a late dinner at The Keg here in San Tan Village. The customer service was GREAT! The hostess was friendly, my waitress (Bella) was knowledgeable and accommodating, and the kitchen runners were prompt. The food, fell short! I strayed with the warm bread that was good. Requested a Ceasar with not breading and it came loaded with bagged croutons. The steak and crab cake I ordered was disappointing. The steak was cooked at the wrong temp and the crab cake was full of large pieces of bell pepper and a displeasing texture. The side veggies lacked flavor and the twice baked potato was simply a potato scooped out, put back in, and burnt on the top. The food is always Amazing !! Jenny was our waitress for Father's Day!! The service was TOP Notch. She couldn't of made the Special Day any nicer. She was a perfect server!! We had a party of 5 and all got very different entrees and they were all Great. We all had filets: MIL and I had the small filet and hubby went for the big one but they all looked the same size when they came out. MIL and I did the combo and started with the wedge salads and they were delicious! We were disappointed when our steaks came out before we were done with our salads and before the wine was poured. Amanda asked how things looked but never came back to see how things actually were. Hubby ordered his steak medium and it was more medium well to well and he said it was very over seasoned. First of all, we love the Keg and often go there to celebrate birthdays and holidays. The staff are welcoming and friendly, offer excellent service, and it's a beautiful restaurant. I took my friend there to celebrate her birthday last night. We were greeted at the door by a smiling maitre d who welcomed us, and inside by 2 lovely hostesses. I had made the reservation as a birthday, so they both wished her a happy birthday, which made her smile. I was glad we were there. Once we were seated, things changed. The server introduced himself and asked if we were celebrating a birthday. He wished my friend a happy birthday and that was it. He never smiled, was not friendly, nor engaged, and for the first time, we did not feel like valued patrons. He did his "job," took our orders, and asked occasionally if everything was okay. At one point, my friend had asked for more iced tea. A couple minutes later he brought a glass of dirty looking. light brown water saying something about it being the bottom of the container, and did she want it, or did she want to wait to have a fresh iced tea. She opted to wait for a new glass which only took a minute or two. We were confused as to why he did that and wondered if he was told to so a customer didn't wait. The "tea' looked very unappealing. I've been aware of The Keg for most of my life, having visited many locations and always expecting that classic premier steakhouse experience. Unfortunately, the SanTan Village location in Gilbert fell short. Maybe being so far from its Canadian roots has caused it to lose some of its magic. Three out of four of our meals missed the mark. The couple dining with us had both of their steaks comped because they weren't cooked as ordered. Mine wasn't right either, but I didn't want to pile on. Still, when you're paying a premium at a steakhouse, you should get exactly what you ordered--that's their bread and butter. On a positive note, our waiter was fantastic. However, the experience started off on a strange note with a foul odor at the hostess stand. When we asked about it, she had no explanation. All in all, this visit was a letdown. The bacon was uncooked, just slightly browned. Only six scallops. My husband Ordered a prime rib sandwich and the bread was so hard he had to take it off in order to eat the meat. Had a Pina colata very little alcohol. One of the worst happy hours ever and the reason Im complaining is because the price was outrageous for such terrible food. $77. So this trip was just ok. Considering how much we spent i just expected a little better quality control. It seemed like we had a couple of different servers helping us out which was fine, and they were both great. We did have a billing issue, but it was corrected before we paid. This place was busy. We didn't have a reservation but they found us a table. We had a drink and then ordered. My husband had steak and I had Seabass. We also had scallops wrapped in bacon. Plus we shared a wedge salad. It was the best thing we ate. The scallops were small and just ok. My husbands steak was mediocre and my seabass was very fishy tasting. They did ask if I wanted something else but by then I was full. They brought us 2 glasses of Champagne with our bill. We each took a sip and that was the end of our dinner. We would come to this location every once in a while when I was still living in AZ and the San Tan Mall was only mins away from me. The photos are from late last year. Service has always been great. Prime rib is always a safe bet here and is always good. I would always prefer a booth for our date nights. I want to like this place. I've had really good meals and then not. I take clients there and it's a dice roll. My recommendation is just order steak. Every time we stray we are disappointed. Sea bass was not great dry and mushy. I cool it crispy and it falls like pads of butter. Was like it was frozen too long. Salmon was cooked too hard too hot too fast. When you see white on salmon it's dry. The steaks are really good. Worth the visit. For the price I'm torn. I could spend a few dollars more and do Flemming's or Chris. Service is always good. The Keg is a pretty solid option if you want a nice steak dinner out. The service is usually quite good and the food is reliable. Tonight we visited to use my birthday BOGO coupon which I highly recommend you take advantage of. Sign up for their newsletter on the website (you don't get more than a handful of emails) and you will get a coupon for your birthday month good for one free entree if another is purchased. That's a fantastic deal here! Our server was Tim, and he was so charming and funny. I love when someone takes the time to joke around with you instead of being all business. I ordered the small filet with a baked potato, which included some beets and broccoli. The complimentary warm bread is always hard to pass up.
