I usually frequent Natural Identity when I'm in Decatur but they were closed the last time I came to this side of town. I decided to test my luck at DC. KAREEMA, thank you so much for threading my eyebrows that day. Aside from the zero wait time, She explained how eyebrow shaping works and showed me why she was moving each strand. She taught me how to massage my eyebrows at night to get optimal growth and shaping. She never pushed any services/product on me. My friend introduced me to this place for eyebrow threading years ago and they always do a great job. They usually have a line of people that is waiting at any given time frame that I've come here, but they usually move along quickly. I get my eyebrows threaded ($4) and my friend gets her face threaded ($25). Prices here are good, but do note that there is an up charge for credit card ($0.50). All the ladies are pretty friendly and I love the aloe they put on your brow afterwards. Worst customer service of any salon in Atlanta that I've been to. After a busy week at the hospital, thought I got out early enough to finally get my eyebrows threaded and made the mistake of coming here first. There was one woman working, wrapping up things with the one seated customer while 1 other person sat in the back. I asked about getting my eyebrows threaded to which the worker laughed and said appointment only. She said there's a sign outside with the hours and phone number you can call, should you suddenly have an urge to randomly call ahead to know that they are appointment only. There's no sign outside saying that, you would only know by coming in and seeing a small sign while they laugh you out of their empty salon. For a business that looks like they're hurting for business, I was taken aback by the rudeness. I didn't expect people to be as welcoming as in NY but this was unprofessional and ridiculous for a 5 minute service. It took MONTHS to grow my brows back. There's a heavier female (I think she's either the manager or maybe one of the owners?) that does a really good job. I don't remember her name, but she's the lady at the reception desk in the picture posted by Kareema P! She inroduced me to this face soap (in the glass display). Idr the name of it, but it's in a small white box, maybe 3x3, and it's good!! It's $6 though. Its good for acne and fading dark spots. BUT you can't use it every day because it is WAY too strong. I'm never coming back. The owner is a beautiful woman! But for the life of me--I do NOT comprehend why she is great at doing eyebrows and her staff is not. She pierced my nose for me a few years ago too! And that was minimal pain, and a fun experience overall. She's a sweet woman and her staff is underwhelming. They do not complement her at all. It's a total hit or miss coming here! And today was THEE BIGGEST MISS for me! The woman didn't even offer me lotion at the end or a touch up for what I was not happy with. She was in her feelings about me expressing that I didn't like it. First of all, I had to ASK her to put on hand sanitizer before she began (my skin is sensitive, but regardless I expect that she should be a sanitary professional)! Then, she finished in maybe two minutes and the only thing it looks like she did was take the tails off my eyebrows. I am very dissatisfied. But the awful customer service today was the final straw in this game of chance and hoping that one employee might ever be as good as Rosie was (a former employee there)! It was slow so the woman that did my brows was the only option. And when she took my payment (I used card)--she was staring at the card reader watching me type my pin and number for receipt, which was very unprofessional to me because it offered no privacy; if I had any questions, I would ask. I was so turned off about my brows that I had no energy to waste any more words with this woman. Instead, I had to type and use my hand as a shield at the same time! Thankfully, I have an eye for beauty, and I will touch up at home. However, this defeats the purpose of getting them done. It was only $4.50, but I could have really saved myself the trouble and done it on my own--for free. I'll attach pictures, so you can better decide if you want to risk it for yourself. This has been my go to spot for over a year to get my eyebrows threaded. What's not to like about this place for $4 ($5 if you're paying with a card). They get pretty busy on the weekend but if I go on a weekday, wait time is mostly non-existent. I've also gotten a quickie facial from here before. Don't expect something calming and relaxing, it's literally just the service with no frills. The facials range from $30 (?) To about $65ish depending on all that you want. A friend and I wanted to get henna on our hands for our coworker's Indian wedding, so when I searched for places to go, DC's Beauty Salon seemed ideal from reading Ashbeezy B's review. We walked in on a Saturday morning and were quickly presented a book full of designs they're able to do for hands and feet. We both decided to pick designs to do on both our hands - just the top and not on the palms. The lady who put the henna on us was pretty quick. For the two of us, she probably finished in about 30 minutes or so. We spent a little more time at the salon just waiting for the henna to dry a bit before heading out to get pedicures at another salon. It was about $10/hand. This isn't my first time with henna but I really enjoyed it more this time than I thought I would. It does get a bit messy as it's drying so for a bit, some of the dried henna would flake off my hands in my car and well, it was a bit smelly, but the smell eventually goes away. The designs on y hands lasted for about 2 weeks and that's with the last week where i was doing everything I could to wash it off as I was getting tired of it. By the way, if you're not sure if you can commit to a permanent tattoo, I highly recommend doing henna. This was definitely a test of my patience and I got tired of the design haha. Highlights looks like just used bleach , no good color, uneven strips and Highlighted hairs looks like faded color. Asked them to fix it replied can't do it, asked to just remove the highlights by coloring all hairs back to natural color , replied can't do it and no politeness.... So, I went here yesterday afternoon as a walk-in. They only charge $4 for eyebrows, which is insanely cheap. They saw me within like 15 mins, and the ladies are extremely nice. You can tell the clients are regulars because the ladies really seem to know them. This place is tucked away next to the Indian grocery, Patel Brothers, and behind Zyka, but the service is quality and the price is phenomenal. I highly recommend it! read more

Since this was the place my friends recommended for eyebrow threading, I came with high expectations. So this week I came to DC after work. The store was pretty quiet- there were 3-4 ladies working. I sat down and immediately the woman that was threading my eyebrows started to promote their other services. Now I know that the economy's bad, and I know you gotta promote your services. But as a customer, I HATE IT when beauty/health workers ONLY push their services when they're working on me (be it a hair salon, nail salon, or an eyebrow place). So this woman that's working on my brows not only promote once, but twice their facial (oh, you get the threading free if you get the facial). I don't care, I don't have time today. Then she offers to thread my lip. I know I've got some hair on my upper lip, but I just like to bleach it at home, thankyouverymuch. So all in all, she tried to sell me other services 3 times in a span of less than 10 minutes. Sure, the threading was good. But I just didn't appreciate that kind of customer service when the only thing you want is more money out of your customer (especially as a first-time customer). In conclusion, I think I'll go next door again for threading at Natural Identity. At least they can carry on a conversation with the customer. read more

If you want cuts all on your eyebrows and a ratchet job of getting your eyebrows threaded then come here! Not only did my sister and I wait patiently to get our eyebrows threaded before our vacation this week, the woman (unknown name) then proceeded to rush through both of our brows and cut and botch our eyebrows in the process. ALSO don't come here if you don't have cash. They will charge you $3 extra if you use a card, so I was charged $6 extra due to paying for both of our brows with was only supposed to be $4. I never had my eyebrows threaded before and decided to go with this place since it was close to my apartment, cheap and I read good reviews on yelp. I walk in, it's very informal and I am promptly seated. The lady looked at the hair on my arm and stated that I have light hair and I agree with her. Then she proceeds with the threading. I never knew that you heard the threads as they worked. This was a little unnerving, but kind of cool in a beauty scientist kind of way. I thought it would hurt as much as waxing but I have never felt anything like this before so it hurt as much as the first time I got waxed. It's always kind of painful when your hair is forcibly removed from your skin. She threaded and trimmed my eyebrows and there is a .50 charge to use a card, but whatevs. So when I get in my car I take a serious look at my brows. There is a little blood, but with my skin, and waxing/threading that is normal. She had missed a few of the hairs under the brows, which come on... Also the brows were a little too close together. All in all it was worth it for the $4 but I just need to realize I will have to do some touch ups when I get home read more

I went here last Friday for henna. I walked in and showed them a henna I got in Florida the week before. I asked could they do it and how much, she said yes and $15 dollars. I told her I would be back after I go over to Patel market. I came back about 15 mins later. I told the owner I was back, so after about 25-30 mins she told me to sit in her chair. She assumed I was getting my brows threaded I told her I was back for henna. She then tell me to go sit back down and some lady came from the back I asked it she could do the design and asked was it $15 dollars? She said she didn't know. She started the design the henna she had look old or partially dried out. I notice it was nothing like my last henna . It was a different color. I got ready to check out I went to give the owner $15 she was like no it's $20. I'm like I asked y'all before I got my henna how much it would be y'all said $15, she goes no it must have been the other girls they not here. First off this is your business why do you have random people giving me a price!! This the stuff I don't like bc these people like to try and get over. They hustlers and scammers! Great welcoming when I walked in and I didn't have to wait at all to get my hair done. The haidresser himself was very professional and has some +20 years of experience. Do yourself a favor and never ever go for haircut here. I went on there for haircut on July 3rd and asked for layers. I had a long hair until my back and the tip had become very rough so o asked her to cut until 4 inches below my shoulders. Not only they are super short like only until shoulders but they are also very unveven and shapeless. Long from side and short in center so when I take a pony it looks damn funny. My husband is fuming looking at this pony and my hair now. They shouldn't even have haircut on their menu anymore it's that horrible. She did something to hide it with blow drying the front and kept me engaged in her sweet talks to an extent that I even tipped her and then I realized that it's so bad after coming home. read more

I've only been here once, but I was more than satisfied with my service. I've had the worst possible experiences with Ruby's, Global Mall places, and Hair images, I read one of the previous entries, and figured, why not? (after all the bad customer service I've received what's one more?) I absolutely LOVED the staff there, they are totally respectful and pleasant, and don't insult you "you have acne, i give wery gud facial... " im sure you know what I'm talking about... believe me, it was packed, and you did not hear uncomfortable negative comments. I wanted my eyebrows done and so she did my eyebrows without being a nuisance. I have the most sparse/thin eyebrows on earth, theyre probably the biggest challenge for any esthetician. She was very professional, definitely expressed her expert opinion/suggestion, but ultimately left it to me (but she nailed what i wanted done!!) I did NOT have to tell her what to do at all!!! thats a first in my four months living in this state. I am rescuing my mom-in-law and sis-in-law from those other wretched ladies and bringing them to DC's because theyre great!!!! I will definitely go back and update this review. read more

Threaders are not that trained and it seems like they let anyone work there. I've been here a lot of times and it started off good and then went bad and stayed there.I have to make sure to tell them how much to take off and even when I still do, they'll still end up taking off more. My recent visit one brow was groomed and the other was barely groomed. Don't understand how you wouldn't notice the distinction. You will get what you pay for. read more

This place is every bit as wonderful as it sounds. $4 for eyebrow threading is unheard of in other places I've lived, but on top of that, the ladies are quick, friendly and extremely good at what they do. You leave DC Nails not only looking good, but feeling great. Karimah in particular is my absolute favorite, but unlike many salons, all of the women that work there are wonderful. They perform many services, but I've only done the eyebrow threading, lip waxing and gotten a facial (or three) and their prices are really unbeatable. The facials have been amazing too.
