Today I had the opportunity to try De La Tierra Cafe and I was delightfully impressed. Pictured below are two drinks I ordered from this cozy and charming cafe: The Mexican Mocha (the drink furthest from the camera) was a chocolate-y smooth drink with a delicious coffee flavor. The Mazapan Latte (pictured closest to the camera) was also a smooth coffee flavor with a hint of peanut and rich Mazapan flavor with little bits of the Mexican candy at the bottom of the drink. I am a little biased picking the Mazapan Latte as my favorite drink on this visit as it was my favorite candies growing up but, both drinks were decadent. Our drinks were made quickly and they were brought to us while we were seated. The staff was kind and informative on the questions we had. Absolutely loved this coffee shop from the coffee to the pan dulce and food options. Staff is friendly and patient. They have indoor seating, and some outdoor seating. They have kid friendly beverages like hot chocolate for the kiddos, and tons of coffee loving options. They have almond milk and oat milk non dairy options. It's very mellow inside the coffee shop and perfect for coffee and breakfast time. Everything was clean and highly recommend stopping by. Lovely Mexican coffee shop in the East Hollywood area! I got the Iced Tres Leches Latte with oat milk and it was tasty! Great coffee and tres leches flavors, but could be too sweet for some people. I also got a mini concha to go with the coffee and that was great too. The concha was crunchy from the sugar shell which I liked. It would have been nice to have this warmed up, but still good nonetheless. The interior is small, but cute with a couple of tables and chairs. They aren't too comfortable for long periods of time though. They also have wifi and I did see one outlet that I used, so a potential study/work spot for some! Service was great and the barista was really nice. I ordered my drink on the Baristi app, but she double checked with me if I wanted hot or iced which I appreciated. For some reason, the app recorded hot and I wanted iced, so I'm glad she reached out to me. She also delivered my drink and pastry to where I was sitting which was nice. For parking, they have a parking lot behind the cafe (not sure if this is free) and there's also free parking at the Island Pacific grocery store nearby. This place is very small but very cozy. The chairs inside were a bit strange and uncomfortable but man was the food a 10/10. I enjoyed this sandwich and the chipotle with chile en vinagre. These two things really put the sandwich together! The people working here are very friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. I liked how they had pictures of the labor that goes into acquiring they're coffee beans. It's a reminder that supporting a small business is also supporting the labor that goes into the little things. I love supporting a woman owned Latino business anytime!!! I was really looking forward to trying this coffee shop and supporting it as a Latino-owned business. I arrived at 8:05 a.m., but was told they weren't quite ready yet because the staff who take orders hadn't arrived. I was asked to wait about five minutes. After considering it, I decided to leave, as it seemed service would take additional time once staff arrived and everything was set up. I was disappointed, as I had hoped for a smoother experience. For now, I'd suggest arriving about 30-40 minutes after opening to allow things to get fully up and running. It's organic and very flavorful and smooth. Pair this with their turkey breakfast sandwich and you're set. Or try some of their seasonal lattes with these tiny cute baby "conchas" (mini mexican sweet breads). Bring your laptop and do some work or bring a girl and have a chat! I discovered De La Tierra almost a year ago so this review is based on a year's worth of visits. First thing is first, the cafe de olla is incredible. I was going to Cafe de Olla in Burbank just to get my fix so I am over the moon that I now have a place within walking distance where I can get my fix. Iced or hot you really can't go wrong. My second favorite is the iced cajeta latte which is neck and neck with the horchata latte. Just thinking about it I am drooling! Maria the owner is such a light and the sweetest of souls. Her welcoming words and character will make you feel right at home and what I like most is that every ingredient comes from Mexico. The space itself is lovely and it's the perfect place to catch up with a friend or just get some reading or work done.
