    Molcajete and a Michelada
    Bryant S.

The decor is the first thing we noticed when we set foot in the restaurant. It was a nice different. The service appeared okay at first. However, we didn't get some of our drinks right away so we had to ask them because the waiter had forgotten. Once the food was served, it looked delicious. We ordered the molcajete and shared it amongst 2 adults and 2 children. There was more than enough to share even though the menu suggests only sharing between two people. The molcejete had carne asada, chicken, chorizo, shrimp, cheese and cactus all bathing in a boiling red sauce. It was all delicious... except there was barely any cheese. We had only 3 small pieces. Otherwise, it was really good. In the end, not seeing the server much during our dining experience plus not having enough cheese with our molcajete made me not want to bring my family back even though the food and drinks were good.

We had such a great experience at De Oro La Puerta! If you're looking for authentic Mexican food in Orange County, this place is definitely worth visiting. Their food is not only AMAZING but the decor looks like a castle with so much greenery! One of our favorite dishes was the molcajete, which arrived sizzling in a volcanic stone bowl packed with grilled chicken, carne asada, shrimp, chorizo, and more. It was flavorful, generously portioned, and perfect for sharing. The Mojarra Frita was another standout. The fish was perfectly crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and the portion was huge. It paired really well with the homemade beans, which we loved even more knowing they don't use lard. We also ordered the albóndigas soup, and it was incredibly hearty and comforting. The broth had so much flavor, and it tasted like a homemade family recipe. The service was friendly (especially Diana!!), the portions were generous, and you can really tell they take pride in serving authentic Mexican cuisine. We'll definitely be back and would highly recommend De Oro La Puerta to anyone in the Brea area.

De Oro La Puerta is a beautiful spot to enjoy! I took my mom out for her birthday to enjoy the delights! The meals were delicious and filling! The service was good and even helped with recommending food or substitutions for my needs. It gives a warm ambiance for sure!

De Oro La Puerta has been on my radar to try for authentic Mexican cuisine. Popped in on a Tuesday afternoon and there was a decent lunch crowd - looks like a fairly good customer base from people working close by. Upon seating we were provided with chips and salsa very quickly and asked for drink orders. A few minutes later, our server came to check in on us to order food. Food cooked fresh as it took about 15-20 minutes. Carne Asada ($24.99): Thin flaps of carne asada with grilled jalapeños, pico de gallo, guacamole, rice, beans, and two tortillas of choice. Meat was a tad overcooked / dry. Used the salsa that was provided with the chips to help with moisture. Steak Fajitas ($25.99): Sizzling cast iron of cut steak, peppers and onions served alongside rice, beans, pico de gallo, guacamole, and two tortillas of choice. Really good flavors from the fajitas though some areas were quite burnt. The sizzling plate also came with a knife left on the side of the cast iron which partially melted due to the heat. Decent portion sizes for the price though it would have been great to get three tortillas for the size of the protein instead of just two. Restaurant inside is a bit dark but they've decorated the ceilings nicely with hanging greenery. Since we went during December, there was also lots of Christmas decor around. Ample parking in the shared parking lot - no issues with parking.

Had the opportunity to try this fabulous restaurant today. WoW, total hidden gem. I no longer need to trek to East LA for some legit Mexican food. Everyone in our party raved about their dishes. I will definitely be back to sample the rest of the menu. It's been YEARS since I've tasted Mexican food that reminded me of my grandma's cooking. I'm hooked. The staff and owner are the best! So attentive and friendly. The DECOR...WoW that's all I can say, just WOW

I specifically went to this restaurant because I heard their tamales were awesome. I have to agree- they are very good. The best I've tried at a restaurant. The service is very friendly and efficient. The only downside would be their prices. They seemed a little high for Mexican food

Service was great, atmosphere was darling. Food was okay. I had the chicken fajitas which weren't to tasty. Homemade tortillas were yummy and the rice was good. My sister liked the soft tacos. Price was decent for the amount of food you get.

Authentic Mexican food here in Brea! Such welcoming and friendly service just like it would be if you were coming over to dinner at a friend's house. Beautiful inside, decorated with lots of flowers and greenery. Food was delicious and fresh. Can't wait to be back to try more dishes.

If I could give 10 stars I would! This is the first time I dined here tonight with some girlfriends, and the only thing I'm mad about, is that I haven't been here sooner. Family owned business, which I love, kitchen ran by just women which I really love, and the food is so delicious and authentic, it's like home cooking from my grandmother. The staff is so nice and friendly, I met Maggie the owner who was very welcoming as we walked in. Mario was our server, and super attentive. I love the attention to detail down to the uniforms, he was dressed in a button up shirt and tie very clean cut. You could tell he was a server, and it just showed me they take pride in their business. The prices are absolutely beyond fair, and the service is first rate. The ambience inside is so so pretty. I just can't say enough about this place. I did tell them to get used to seeing my face, because I'm going to be a regular!!!

Special event hosted at De Oro La Puerta

Had such an incredible experience at De Oro La Puerta! We hosted an event and the staff was SO helpful and attentive! The hospitality was great and everyone was so kind. They helped with set up and attended to our guests. This hidden gem is the PERFECT place for your special event. The ceiling decor is absolutely beautiful and the food was delicious. Great portions too! I also appreciate how the owners were really flexible and allowed us to bring our own decor, tea set up, desserts, and balloon backdrop. They even let us have a little craft table for the kids. Overall I HIGHLY recommend for your special event or for your next meal. Love this place!

Overall, everything lacked flavor, although I will say the red salsa served with the chips was delicious. My friend ordered the avocado toast, but it was basically just a slice of bread with sliced avocado--no seasoning, condiments, or anything to make it stand out. The small garden salad was equally underwhelming, consisting of only romaine lettuce and cherry tomatoes with no dressing or even a drizzle of olive oil. I ordered the Eggs Benedict, but they were more like open-faced boiled eggs since the yolks were completely hard instead of runny. The café de olla had a nice flavor, but it was much sweeter than expected. I think it would be better if they served it unsweetened (or lightly sweetened) and let customers adjust the sugar to their own taste. I really wanted to enjoy this place because the ambiance is so charming, but the food just didn't live up to the experience.

Bottom Line Up Front: Eggbred is breakfast food for Gen Z --…read moreand that's not a dig by any means. Let me eggplain... The Background: Eggbred is a fast-food establishment with fast-casual aspirations. You pay at the counter but the meals are handcrafted, so there's a wait similar to a sit-down restaurant. Plus, the prices are higher than a Mickey D's -- $9.79 to $13.99 for sandwiches and $9.99 to $17.99 for burritos, for example. The Food: I ordered the Ribeye California Burrito and it was delicious. The beef was tender and moist, the avocado was fresh, and the cilantro crema was tasty. The lemonade was very meh, unfortunately. The Setting: Located in a smallish strip mall on Harbor Boulevard, it has limited free parking in the front. Not a problem on a weekday mid morning, but I imagine it would be quite difficult to find parking at peak times. Inside, it had a cool, modern aesthetic, but it was small, not ideal for mid to large-size groups. Customer Service: My cashier was friendly and quite knowledgeable, providing an eggcellent recommendation (the Ribeye California Burrito). However, the cook staff took awhile making the food (it took about 20 minutes for my order to come out). The Pros and Cons: So, is the food worth the hype and premium prices? Yes and no. It's essentially a fast-food restaurant charging sit-down prices with longish wait times. Your satisfaction level will depend largely on your expectations: if you're thinking it's fast food, you'll be pleasantly surprised by the care they put into the food and freshness of the ingredients. You'll be disappointed if you're expecting a more premium experience to match the premium prices. The Conclusion: I would need to return to try the other dishes on the menu to give a definitive answer, but based on my first experience I didn't feel like I got enough value for the price I paid and the wait I endured. While I would be open to trying their other dishes, I would not return unless I was in the area by chance.
