Air-Tite said their vendor didn't inform them ahead of time, and was told that they would find an alternate design. The alternate design was provided and accepted by me on 6/18. I was told the order would be placed the following week, and I would be kept up to date "every step of the way." Not hearing anything almost two months later, I followed up on 8/5, and was told they would check and get back to me the next day. After not getting a response, I followed up again. In the follow-up conversation, Air-Tite indicated the windows should arrive in September. After no updates again, I called on 9/25 and was told the windows were due to arrive on 10/2 or 10/3, and that I would receive a call. Again, not hearing anything, I called on 10/4. Air-Tite responded that they believed the windows may have arrived and would get back to me on 10/7. 10/7 came and wentt without a response. Windows were finally installed on 10/30. It took 8 months from my initial order and over 4 months from the alternate window order for completion. At the end of the day I am satisfied with the quality of work, cost, and windows themselves. I also understand custom windows can take time, and am sympathetic if Air-Tite's vendor didn't communicate clear time frames, but I cannot understand the constant lack of timely follow up.

He took the window back to his shop to install a new piece of glass, putting in the special gas between the panes that helps with insulation & energy efficiency. He put a piece of plywood in the frame back in the window so it was secure. Just took a couple of days and my window is back. Very happy with the repair.

All pricing was communicated verbally, with no written quote provided. When these concerns were raised, Janet became hostile, disrespectful, and argumentative rather than addressing the issue professionally. We ultimately decided to go with a competitor and that's when Janet lost it. Customer service is a fundamental part of doing business. Treating potential customers with respect, providing transparent pricing, and communicating professionally should be the minimum standard. Based on our experience, we would not recommend this company. Tim & Darb need to address is because they just lost at least 200 window sales from us alone. 1. Do your job. You're the window expert, not us. 2. Treat every customer with RESPECT. 3. Accept that this is a COMPETITIVE MARKET.

I have an old Chicago house that's probably about 110 years old…read more I used Chicago Window & Door Solutions to replace wood windows from the 1960s that had stopped working and several vinyl windows (8 years old) that had started to fall apart. I was really mad about the vinyl windows because the former owner had installed them pretty new, but they literally were about to fall out of the wall. We had to lock them to keep them in place. The previous owner had the original windows replaced, but the installer of the vinyl windows did not insulate around the frame and cold air kept leaking in. The wood windows would rattle on a windy day. I found out about Chicago Window & Door Solutions through a recommendation from another contractor who was repairing my original wood windows - he said he wouldn't work with anyone else - so that tells you something! Sue & Greg came out to meet with us, took measurements and talked about our options. They install Marvin windows. Know that they aren't the cheapest option. For that you can go anywhere, but know in about 8 years, you're going to be replacing them. But I found that they listened to what we were looking for - which for me was energy efficiency as a top priority. I liked that there was the chance to get a wooden interior on the windows. It allowed us to match the stain on sill and border opening - so now these windows look like they belong and do not look like replacements. We opted to stain the windows ourselves and they gave suggestions of how to do it. More importantly, they came out twice (next day!) when we had questions/concerns. Justin came to do the install and he removed and installed six windows and fixed a sill in a day and a half - plus he cleaned up after himself! If you've ever had workmen come into your house, you know what a mess they can leave. I am really happy with the new windows. They are beautiful, they are much more energy efficient than what I had and really block out the noise. I live on a two-way street in Chicago & they have made the house much quieter than the windows I had before.
