TL;DR: They're amazing and you should use them!…read more This was our second time using Good Guys and both times have been amazing! We called yesterday morning when we noticed our AC was not kicking on and they were able to get a tech out today! Butch arrived on time and was friendly as could be. He wasted no time jumping in and trying to diagnose the problem. He went through everything he could think of, figured it out, and advised us of best solutions. We never felt pressured or unsure of the decisions we were making. He also pointed out things to keep an eye on, as they appeared to be going bad or outdated, but again, never once did he push for us to buy or do anything now. He was also honest with us about replacing the unit altogether (yes, you're thinking he wants us to spend the money and they make it), but the unit is 32 years old with a life expectancy of 20, soo he's not wrong. Beyond suggesting a new unit he priced out different components that we could replace, as we wanted to, in order to squeeze as much life out as we could. We were already considering replacing, so he helped us set up a no obligation consultation later this week. And honestly, if not for the service and respect we've been shown, we'd consider shopping around more, but this family owned company has earned our business and trust for years to come! If you need service or repairs, do not hesitate to reach out and use Good Guys, because they truly are: Good Guys!

Thermotec HVAC Services - Air Duct Cleaning

Ladies and Gentlemen, if you are looking for a skilled, hard working and trustworthy young HVAC…read moretechnition that has just recently started his own HVAC business, I highly recommend Leandro Brandao and his company, Thermotec HVAC Services. Leandro is eager to show you what customer service is all about, and I guarantee you, he will impress you, because he sure impressed me. I filled out a service request yesterday to have my ducts cleaned after finding out I had severe water accumulation in the crawl space of my 34 year old home. There was significant mold and mildew involved and I was told my return duct had water inside it, so I haven't had my downstairs furnace or A/C on since the first week of March. I got the water problem solved, so I explained to Leandro, I wanted all my ducts cleaned and sanitized, but if he was too busy to do that right away, if he could just do my return duct ASAP, that would alow me to run the A/C and the rest of the ducts could wait. He responded immediately and said he could do the 1 duct today, but not all of them, I also signed up for his annual service program after his rapid response so he also did the full clean and inspection of my upstairs A/C unit which has been doing double duty for the last two months. But here is where he went above and beyond, I was told by a plumber I had hired to inspect my gas pipes under the house, about the small lake under my house, he found and saw the duct was semi submerged, he went above and beyond too, he lifted up the duct and said it was heavy with water. I did not know how bad the return duct was affected by the water, and Leandro knew this, he went under my house found the duct and opened it up so he could see inside in both directions where a sheet metal connecter was. He said it did not look like much, if any water was inside the duct, it had pink insulation wraped around the outside of the duct that was soaked with water and was heavy because of that, but no mold or mildew was inside the duct, what a relief! He took pictures of everything, and then re-connected the duct properly, and proceeded to clean and sanitize it. He did all this without adding any extra charges to his original quote for today's work. That peace of mind was worth a lot to me, and I told him so. Crawling around under any house is difficult, my house is particularly difficult, the crawl space is extremely tight, tearing apart a duct, and putting it back together under there is hard for me to even imagine. This is the kind of service you can expect to receive from Leandro if you fill out a service request with Thermotec HVAC Services, and if you do, you can thank me later.

I called Rocklin Heating & Air who immediately responded to schedule an appointment. Mark deployed to my home and went straight to work, quickly absorbing the situation and what I had learned thus far. Mark was followed by some of his teammates, when it was determined this would require troubleshooting from multiple points in the home simultaneously. I was fearing the worst, running through expensive possibilities in my mind. Throughout the entire troubleshooting process, the team was highly communicative and never tried to upsell me on anything that was not short of necessary. As the team diligently narrowed it down to unusual behavior from a culprit wire and elegantly solved the problem, I was certain I picked the right HVAC company. I believe they found a problem other techs may have missed, had I picked the wrong vendor. I thank Brandon and his professional team and highly recommend them.

They…read moredelivered poor quality, un-permitted work, taking much longer than planned and there's no accountability to properly finish this install. We'll need to spend more time and money to get another contractor to properly complete this job and permitted. I do not recommend this company. I'm confused by the 5 star reviews and I hate to write a bad one, but I hope it can save others from wasting their time and money like us. The communication started off strong, but poor execution when it comes to the actual work. I went with them because they claimed taking pride in making their installs look good with high quality work, enhancing the value of the home. The pictures show this is far from that promise and they don't care to resolve this. Quoted a 1-2 day install dragged on for 1.5 months before the system was even functional. The install started during a snowstorm which I understand brought challenges. I checked if they wanted to reschedule due to the storm, but they insisted they work in the snow all the time. They ran into multiple issues, and had to order replacement parts several times. It was very poorly managed throughout, I would hardly get updates and had to reach out each week to check on the status. Technicians would work on something and no communication if they were done or if the system was ready to use. They eventually got a replacement unit and the system was finally functioning over a month later. I don't mind the delays as long as the final work is properly done, but that's not the case here. They basically called the install done since it's functioning but the rest of the install is already falling apart and poor workmanship. Every part of the install you can see is of very poor quality. Line set covers falling apart, mis-aligned covers, roughly cut edges, paint over-sprayed onto the siding, lines messily laid out under the house already falling down, exterior unit is haphazardly shimmed with rubber blocks, lines covered with a rubber sheet zip tied as a cover, interior unit has the line coming out the side with a tacky wood cover vs hidden out the back, a plastic piece near the line exit is broken and sticking out. This is amateur DIY quality, nothing close to professional. These are only the places I can see which doesn't give me confidence in the mechanical work I can't see. I'm especially worried about the line through the roof. They punched through existing flashing for the skylight and did it in a spot where there's no room to properly flash around the hole to make sure it's water tight. I will need to get a professional roofing contractor to inspect and fix this work. I thought I was overly critical since they have positive reviews, so I reached out to a local contractor for a second opinion. He was even more critical and said it's one of the worst installs he's ever seen. I sent Folsom Lake photos of the issues nearly 2 months ago and there hasn't been much effort to resolve them. It is supposedly in the process of permitting, but again it's been radio silence for 7 weeks. I reached out directly to the permitting company multiple times and they have stopped providing updates. Other notes: The carpet was muddy despite asking several times to remove boots. After the last visit, there was even a boot print on our dining table. They drilled holes in the wrong location on the wall and did a poor job "patching" them up. I could go on but have spent too much time managing this job and I'm really disappointed in the quality and lack of accountability from Folsom Lake Heating. I'm sure they'll respond with excuses, but I have been patient and given them plenty of opportunities to make things right with no results. Unfortunately I will have to take a different route, and it looks like I'll have to spend more time finding a proper contractor to clean up this botched install. Save your hard-earned money, time and headache and hire a professional contractor with more experience and pride than this company.
