I finally made it to Dear Dad's downtown Greensboro location after visiting their Battleground location, and I'm glad I stopped in! The new location is really cute and has a nice brunch atmosphere. I came in for a quick brunch with my son and ordered the brown sugar latte and fresh-squeezed orange juice. The latte had great flavor, and you could definitely tell the orange juice was freshly squeezed -- you can actually see the machine making it. For food, we tried the Seafood Duo and the Salmon & Waffle plate. I really like that you can customize your meal with so many different options and combinations. The waffles were really good, and my son enjoyed the catfish. He wasn't a fan of the oatmeal, though. The service was a little slow in the beginning, but once things got going, everything was fine. I also saw so many good-looking dishes coming out to other tables that I already know I need to come back and try more of the menu. This beautiful restaurant compliments the awesome staff who work here. They are hospitable from the moment you walk through the door. They always have a wait, which should speak to how good they are! We were seated within 15 minutes with a party of 4 on a Sunday morning. They make really good coffee here, so I started with a vanilla latte with an extra espresso shot in it. It was rich, balanced and flavorful! My entree was the Skillet over home fries with chorizo and scrambled eggs. We had lunch at the Dear Dad's downtown location. We are so glad we stopped by as lunch was great from start to finish. The hosts greeted us and we were seated right away. I loved walking through the hallway that was covered with flowers hanging from the ceiling . Our waitress was so friendly & attentive. I hate I can't remember her name . I really appreciate how attentive everyone was, from the guy behind the bar and especially our waitress. We went to the downtown GSO location. They told us it would be a 45 minute wait but it was only about 15 minutes. The inside is gorgeous! Flowers hanging from the ceiling and the decor was beautiful. They do have breakfast all day. I had the French toast breakfast that came with 2 eggs, bacon and 2 slices of French toast with a choice of side. Everything was amazing. I've always wanted to try Dear Dad's, and decided to go to their new location in downtown. Walking inside, you're immediately led to a hallway and greeted by a beautiful floral decor. It's just so peaceful and lovely inside! The service was wonderful, and the server very helpful with suggestions! We ordered the omelet and pancakes, to try different items. The pancakes were fluffy and delicious! Omelette was also amazing! And I loved that they had shredded hashbrowns. (If you read my other reviews, you'll know I'm obsessed with them! ) The only tiny wish for improvement was the coffee. It seems a lot of restaurants have challenges to keep their coffee hot. Finally got a chance to check out the downtown location of Dear Dad's. It's great that they are in the position that they need to open a second location. Every time that my wife and I went to the battleground location, it was a wait, still worth the wait though! We came on a weekday so it wasn't too crowded and were seated immediately. I've only had breakfast items when I've been to Dear Dad's, so I wanted to switch it up and try something different. I decided to try the Philly cheese with steak. I was very impressed! The steak had excellent flavor, the cheese was delicious, and all the other vegetables on it were seasoned perfectly. I also upgraded to the onion rings... make sure you do it too :) The decor in this place is very nice and pretty. Makes you feel good when you're walking in. Now I'm confident getting both breakfast and lunch options from here after this past visit. Very seldom do I sit down at an establishment and then I'm ready to go! It pains me to give this one star but it is very necessary and honestly if it wasn't for the food, I would've given zero stars if I could based off service alone. Upon arriving. We were greeted by Cheyenne (hope I spelled it correctly) and she was so pleasant. She asked my husband and I if it was our first time in and we told her yes. She informed us to make sure our server knew once we were greeted at the table but she didn't indicate why. I thought this is going to be a great experience but boy was I about to be extremely disappointed. We were seated and greeted by Yoshi (hope I spelled it correctly) who as quickly as she showed up and took our drink order, disappeared before I could even ask a question or say anything. When she returned with our drink order she then asked what we wanted. I placed my order and My husband gave his order. When asked what sides he wanted, he only wanted fries. He was quickly told that wasn't possible and when I asked why not because if fries was all he wanted I couldn't understand why that wasn't an option, she couldn't even give a reason. She went around the world basically spewing a bunch of BS to then say, "yea we were just told we can't do it". After she walked away, I realized I never told her it was our first time in. Upon grabbing her attention, I mentioned I forgot to tell you it's our first time in. She gave me a puzzled face and then I informed her of what the hostess mentioned. She responded with oh it's just for beignets but I don't know how she would know about that and said thank you for telling me. Needless to say we never got the beignets. Finally a couple was seated next to us and when Justin greeted them, he asked the couple if it was their first time in. Something Yoshi hadn't asked us when she greeted us at the table. As far as Ambiance, it was beautiful inside and gave a floral vibe throughout the entire establishment. Wow! This place absolutely blew me away. I came with a friend who said this was the new breakfast spot to try in Greensboro. He was not wrong! From the gorgeous interior to the fresh squeezed juice to the unique drink and menu items, you truly cannot go wrong at Dear Dad's. We came on a Friday morning and it was already busy - still, our waitress was attentive and quick. I came hungry and got the fresh squeezed OJ, Biscoff Latte, Birria Omelette, and my friend and I split the red velvet pancakes. I was absolutely blown away by it all. The juice was so satisfying, the latte was the right amount of sweet but not too sweet, and the birria omelette changed my life. If you love a birria taco you must try this omelette. Landed later in the evening in Greensboro and wanted a yummy but quick dinner. Found this place in downtown area and it was the cutest spot!! The weather was terrible downtown so luckily it wasn't too busy when we went and they were able to seat us easily. This is hands-down the cutest brunch spot downtown! The walkway is lined with beautiful aerial woven basket lamps and flowers hanging from the ceiling, creating a magical Garden of Narnia vibe that opens up right into the dining room. The whole place gives off a very fun, coastal vacation vibe. It is absolutely beautiful inside. Their motto is "good food all day," so I decided to put that to the test. I ordered the veggie omelette, which lets you add three ingredients, a choice of meat, one side, and a choice of bread like biscuits, sourdough, or rye. It was an incredible amount of food and very filling for just 16 bucks. Honestly, it was the best omelette I have ever had. I also ordered the classic French toast, which was very good, especially paired with their amazing blueberry jam. The jam was a bit on the runny side, but I suspect that is because it is freshly made in-house. The jam actually came with the omelette meal for the bread. My server, Erika, was absolutely fantastic. She was super friendly, kind, and incredibly hard-working as she whipped back and forth between the bar and the kitchen. First visit to Dear Dad's. We came on a Sunday around 1:30pm with a group of five and ended up waiting about 75 minutes for a table. Luckily, I found street parking right in front of the restaurant, but I appreciated that they validate parking in the deck if needed. I was immediately impressed with the decor-- from the bright colors on the walls to the fresh flowers at the table-- the atmosphere gave happy vibes. Food was the highlight of the visit. The standout for me was the Birria Quesadilla--it was absolutely outstanding. The fried shrimp and fries were both good, and the Classic French Toast was a solid choice as well. I tried the Biscoff Latte, which was delicious, although I found myself wishing the serving had been a little larger. We also ordered the blueberry hush puppies, and they were very good once they arrived. The only issue was the timing--they didn't come out until after our entrees had already been served, which was disappointing since we had ordered them as an appetizer. The server was apologetic and said they ran out of small plates, which seemed like a poor excuse for not serving an appetizer. Despite that hiccup, the staff was welcoming and attentive. Overall, I enjoyed the visit to Dear Dad's, especially the food. That said, between the long wait for a table and the wait for food once seated, I'm not sure I'd make a return trip. They are finally open & appear to be quite busy. Walking in on a Monday around 1pm & the place was filled. Upon entering, the space you can see desserts on display and a small waiting area near the hostess station. The walkway is narrow and long, decorated with flowers and a nice welcome into the restaurant. Staff moved quickly to seat us. We waited about 5 minutes or less in the front. There are high top seating options, booth seating lining the walls, and regular tables as well. The bar is also available for solo seating or couples dining in. We ordered the Fresca drinks and were delighted to know these are available for free refills. The appetizers were hot and tasty! An order of hushpuppies that were the perfect bite and warm in the center, paired with a tasty cinnamon butter! These fried pickles were addicting! They were a nice crispy bite! The sliced pickles fried and served with a sauce that was also delicious. Since I've had breakfast at the other location, I wanted to try a lunch option. I decided on the blackened shrimp, spinach, and Spanish rice & beans. The spinach was recommended by the staff. I enjoyed the rice and beans, topped with cheese, cilantro and red onions. The pinto beans were seasoned well and flavorful. The shrimp were slight salty but the cook on them was perfect! The spinach was just ok, had a healthy amount of garlic and was also seasoned well but not overly salty. My friend ordered the Birria bowl. She says it was good but could use a squeeze of lime to bring it all together. Otherwise, the service and overall feel of the place is great! The staff worked collectively to bring our orders, check in, and make this a pleasant experience. I still haven't tried their desserts but was given a complimentary order of beignets that were light and airy with the perfect crunch, dusted powdered sugar. These are served with a chocolate sauce. From the green lighting outside the building to the murals and artwork inside, the entire restaurant feels vibrant, welcoming, and unique to Greensboro. The atmosphere feels perfect for brunch dates, girls brunch, coffee meetups, or just enjoying a relaxing meal downtown. We tried the Birria omelette, Breakfast Club sandwich, dirty hash browns, Biscoff French toast, and several drinks including the matcha, piña colada, and Biscoff latte. Everything tasted great and came out looking amazing. It's hard to describe what makes the flavor stand out. It's just really fresh. The new location is beautiful. So intentional with its design and honestly something I'd expect to see in midtown Atlanta. Spacious and well thought out. They had a great playlist going and I could've sat there all day. The true standout was the service. These servers were ON IT. What a solid and cohesive team. Everyone in there looks very young with made it even more impressive. From the moment we arrived, the entire staff was welcoming and friendly, and our server was attentive throughout our meal. My husband ordered the Breakfast Burger with sautéed spinach as his side. The burger was cooked to his requested doneness, and he really enjoyed the flavor combination. The sautéed spinach was exceptionally well-seasoned and far better than your typical side dish. I ordered the Impossible Burger with fries, and both were delicious. The burger had great flavor, and the fries were perfectly cooked. Our daughter had the cheeseburger and fries, and she thoroughly enjoyed her meal as well. The décor in the new location is beautiful and creates a warm, inviting atmosphere. The music was a little louder than I'd like for breakfast but was an upbeat Latino mix which was fun. I went with a basic breakfast plate of one meat (bacon), two eggs over medium ,a side of fruit and sourdough toast with homemade peach jam. It was a ok, nothing to rave about. A little pricey for what it was ($14.99). My daughter just ordered a biscuit. She said it was ok, but had a weird after flavor. Super excited to check out the new downtown Dear Dad's location. We had not had a chance to venture out to their orignal location in NW Greensboro yet. Now we are lucky to have one closer to home! The decor is simply beautiful. Lots of colorful florals which really brighten up the space since the only windows are up front. Check out their desserts in the front case! They have a nice long bar and table seating is cozy. We were greeted by a friendly young man on the street as we walked up and immediately seated when we walked inside. There is a long hallway decorated by hanging flowers leading to the colorful dining area. Our server was not available when we sat down but we were greeted by another, and brought waters right away. After waiting a little longer, another young lady working behind the bar noticed that we were still waiting so she took our orders. During our short time there we were helped by multiple staff members and checked on by a manager or two. Our waters stayed filled, which I always appreciate. Our delicious birra nachos came out in no time. They were definitely the highlight of the evening. My husband picked the breakfast chilaquiles (yum!) and I went with the shrimp po boy with fries. Both were very tasty. I believe this was the prettiest po boy I have ever eaten! The large shrimp were perfectly fried and the lettuce was still crisp. My french fries were nice and hot but a little soft for my taste. Next time I will try a different side. It is all good though, I wasn't there for just the fries. They have an extensive menu that ranges from red velvet or carrot cake pancakes, French toast, chicken and waffles, sandwiches, burgers, huevos rancheros to smothered chicken, shrimp and grits, and seafood dinner options. Usually when you see restaurants that have such a wide range, you worry that the quality will fail somewhere. All the dishes that I saw being delivered to tables looked fantastic which made it a challenge for me to narrow down what I wanted to order. Next time, birria tacos, and chicken tenders, and maybe their house chips? There was a bit of confusion when it came time to get the check since our original server really didn't do much but bring boxes and our check that we requested from the manager when he stopped by our table to check on us.
