Happy hour here is such a win, I can't believe I didn't know about it before. Got sliders, garlic truffle fries, hamachi carpaccio, and brussels sprouts (the last two modified for my allergies). They are SO on top of accommodations. Huge shoutout to Abby - perfect service, super knowledgeable, checked in just the right amount. 10/10 experience.

My nephew wanted to come here for his graduation dinner. Happy hour was good. Ordered the short ribs , sliders, chicken wings and Caesar Salad and Brussel sprouts. All was delicious. Service was quick and friendly. We sat on the inside so didn't see much of a view. We parked at the zoo.

Service- 4 stars Food and drink- 5 stars Ambiance - 5 stars I loved my evening at the Deck today! The view of Diamond Head was probably my highlight along with my date and the fact that it was an open air setting. I did not feel uncomfortable with an overpowering a/c setting and the weather was perfect for a dinner outside! I ordered the Hamachi Carpaccio that was served dressed with saved Maui onion, jalapeño Sukarno cilantro and chili threads and with salad. The sauce was delish and still thinking about the thinly sliced Hamachi. We ordered the Hot stuff cocktail and was my fav between that and the Nice Melons cocktail. The Hot Stuff cocktail came with jalapeño seasoning on the rim which provided an extra kick to the beverage! The reason why I would rate the service 4 stars is because I felt like we were being rushed to leave our table . I don't even think we were offered any dessert before our check was handed to us. Aside from that, I thought our waiter hustled and was very helpful.

Deck is easily one of my favorite spots for its unbeatable view of Diamond Head. I could sit there for hours just taking it all in. The atmosphere is super laid back, making it perfect whether you're meeting friends or for a special celebration. Deck has become my favorite place for happy hour. There were so many great options to choose from. The food and drinks were both on point, and it's hard to beat that combination with a view like Diamond Head. Our server was top tier--constantly checking in to make sure everything was good with our drinks and food. It made the whole experience feel easy and taken care of. Parking is convenient too, with options at the hotel or right across the street, which makes it even easier to stop by.

Came here for a wedding and the views are so beautiful! The food was pretty standard, but the view of Diamond Head was pretty insane. The bar was poppin' and I drank wayyyy too much.. that Deck Mai Tai stuff was STRONG I was getting faded off that drank.... I need to chill out.. LOL Service was so great and I was so full just from all the mini food samplers they had the servers bring out. Definitely a beautiful spot located in Queen Kapiolani Hotel! I would come back just to see the view again, although I can see this as an issue if the weather is too rainy.

Fun and vibrant with amazing views! Food was well executed but not super special. Would absolutely return! Mom got calamari and wedge salad - both good! I got the braised short ribs and I loved the garlic confit mashed potatoes. Service was quick and friendly enough. Even if the food was bad, I'd return for the volcano views!

Great place for cocktails with a view. However, I heard they no longer have live music here, which kind of sucks. The vibe was definitely different without it. Our server was very nice, but slow. Drinks are expensive $18 but that's expected.

The service here was fantastic . We made reservations and seated quickly. They had good happy hour deals. The happy hour drinks were delicious . We ordered a few appetizers - the truffle fries were crispy and a splendid starter. Brussels sprouts were great as were the sliders and fish tacos. The view for sunset was stunning - great experience overall.

During our stay, this was our favorite place for ambiance, views, happy hour and food! We came here twice first time for drinks on the happy hour with fries. Second time, we went for happy hour but decided to order some more food and my husband loved the wings. They were really good! The braised short ribs were a great portion and we shared both in addition to a couple drinks. Good for happy hour given Waikiki is so expensive. The view made it worth it! Service was quick and the server(s) never rushed. I'd come back if I came back to the island :)

The view is absolutely amazing here. The staff were super friendly and the happy hour is such a great deal. We got the "not your average Mai Tais" and if you love blueberry you will be in heaven. The sushi rolls, burgers and fries were delicious. Would 100% recommend!!

Outstanding view of Diamomd Head! Food was delicious- mahi mahi tacos big portions! Sliders had a great Smoky flavor. Truffle fries completed the meal too. Margarita was nice and perfectly balanced. Service was super quick and friendly even though the place was packed. Definitely recommend reservations.

Coming up here just to look at the view of Diamond Head makes this spot all worth it. Highly recommend making reservations for a brunch, but if anything the staff and aesthetically prepared and delicious food from quality ingredients are just YES. Such a great spot to celebrate any occasion, after a race, or graduation, or just simply being.

She made reservations for us, which is recommended. You check in on the first floor and are then escorted into the speakeasy. I won't share much more, as one should experience it themselves. We were checked on periodically, but the food did take quite some time to come out. We shared some pupus, off their happy hour menu. We got the Smashed Cucumbers, House Karaage, and Sinigang Fries. The cucumbers weren't spicy, even though they were listed as spicy. It was more oily, but still crisp and refreshing. The fries were perfect for snacking on, with a nice sour-savory flavor from the sinigang. The karaage was extremely big! Not too crispy like usual, but still meaty. We also asked for six, but only received five pieces. My friend got the Lamb Ribs as well, which fell off the bone, and she seemed to enjoy them. My other friend and I shared the Ulu Taco Flight. We chose Suadero, Pork Belly, and Seafood as our protein. I enjoyed the seafood; it was lobster. It was sweet and mild but nicely cooked. The aioli was a nice addition. The pork belly was fine; it was quite spicy, which was a bit overpowering. My friend who had the beef taco said the wagyu was great but also quite spicy. The tacos themselves were quite small for the price. Overall, if you're into speakeasies or curious, Vintage Books is worth a visit at least once. The food is creative, and the drinks are good. Glad I could come and hang out with my friends. Find them on the ground floor. Parking is validated in the building; give your ticket to the host.

To my surprise, on a Sunday evening after having dinner nearby at Maze, my wife and I walked over to Bar Leather Apron and we were able to get seated right away! In fact, around 7:30 p.m. when we stopped by, there was actually a ton of seating available in the bar. Who would've guessed. If you're in the same boat as me and are unable to find a reservation for your upcoming visit, I would encourage you to stop by and try a walk-in. The first page of the menu lists a wide variety of whiskey based cocktails. Most -- if not all, of the cocktails are pre-fixed with BLA (Bar Leather Apron), and represent a collaboration with the named distillery. If you're fan of whiskey, you'll definitely have a difficult time picking only one. I ultimately ordered their "Take Warning" -- 2021 BLA Knob Creek BLA Single Barrel, Cynar, Carpano Antica, Mezcal, Bergamot Salt. Drinks here are not cheap -- averaging $20 to $25 per drink. Although my drink was very spirit forward, it still felt very well balanced. I appreciated the hint of smokiness from the mezcal that rounded out the end of a sip. Service here quick and friendly. When we received the check, a cute small chocolate snack was brought over as well, borrowed from the menu at Maze. Overall, I can see why Bar Leather Apron has earned so many accolades in its field. I didn't look on the lanai, but I understand you can smoke cigars out there. The background music was jazz and the occasional Motown hit (Stylistics). My cuz who lives in Kaimukī has neva been to RM 38. I promised to add him to the res next time. Its a lot easier to get in vs another speakeasy in Chinatown, and its walking distance from where I always stay at the Moana.

5,000,000 Stars - Jeff the Divine Pourer of Honolulu Tavern…read more If Zeus stepped down from Olympus, traded in his lightning bolt for a cocktail shaker, and opened a dive bar in Honolulu, he would still fall short of the sheer majesty that is Jeff the Bartender. I walked into Honolulu Tavern expecting a beer and maybe a game of pool. I walked out a changed human being, spiritually reborn through the transcendent wizardry of Jeff's drink-making abilities. The man didn't just pour me a Mai Tai -- he summoned it from another dimension using ancient Polynesian incantations and possibly a portal beneath the bar. Jeff doesn't make drinks. He crafts liquid experiences. I ordered a Jack and Coke. He gave me an elixir so powerful I briefly remembered all my past lives and cried openly at the bar. Jeff handed me a napkin without breaking eye contact. "Let it out," he said, in a voice smoother than the whiskey he poured. He flips bottles like he's auditioning for a Cirque du Soleil fire show. He garnishes with flair, zest, and possibly dark sorcery. He doesn't just serve drinks -- he blesses them. At one point, someone tried to order a vodka cranberry. Jeff leaned in and whispered, "I can do better." Moments later, he slid a drink across the bar that tasted like a sunset riding a unicorn across Waikiki Beach. Also -- and I cannot stress this enough -- Jeff remembered everyone's name, their favorite drink, and gave unsolicited but eerily accurate life advice. One sip of his signature cocktail and my taxes filed themselves, my skin cleared, and I received a text from my ex apologizing for everything. In conclusion: Jeff is not a bartender. He is a mixological prophet. A liquid shaman. A cocktail demigod. If you die before experiencing a drink from Jeff, you've wasted your one precious life. Mahalo, Jeff. Mahalo for EVERYTHING
