Nonember 4, 2011. No hard liquor to start and on a scale of 1 -10, it was a 5 at best. Mediocre shrimp diablos were overcooked. Clams were alright but not great, fried shrimp were Sysco type which were a 7. Condiment containers just looked nasty (half empty for how long) and service was not quite as good as McDonalds. Incredibly friendly, economical and just damn good. First time checking it out yesterday. Don't be fooled by the fact that it sits under a freeway or by the modest exterior. Very clean and comfortable exterior with 70s music kickin' in the background. Casual and friendly crowd sitting around drinking beer and eating oysters on the half shell. What a special place. Owners were shrimpers from Thailand. The food is great. Very fresh seafood and a bunch of on the menu and off the menu Thai and Laotian dishes. I drive from 2222 & 620 to Round Rock for this place....love it! read more

Loving this place! Everyone, patrons and staff are SO friendly! Took recommendations from both and had the Tokyo Oysters (decadent!!), the La Frontera Oysters (savory!), and the Three Muskateer (original! ) . All were crafted, completely satisfying, and in the case of the Tokyo oysters, seafood crack! Brooke was an awesome tour guide for us, as our bartender extrodinere! We'll be back tomorrow! read more

Tom yum soup and seafood noodle soup are amazing. Frog legs were perfectly fried and juicy. Fried oysters are quite small, and hush puppies are strange. Stick with the soups! Service is great - quick, friendly, and efficient. Wish that they would pour some local beers. read more

My husband and I had a rare date night and I talked him out of BBQ. We decided to try this spot, due to us both loving oysters. We arrived around 6:00 and were seated right away. Our waitress seemed pleasant and took our drink order. We ordered a half dozen La Frontera and a half dozen Tokyo oysters. We loved both! We then ordered our meal and my husband had Crawfish Etouffee and I had the Mussels Vin Blanc. My husband did not like his Etouffee but I loved my Mussels. I ordered another glass of wine and my husband finished eating his food and I still had some rice and soup left in my bowl. Unfortunately, our waitress started to rush us by asking if I was finished with my food (I still had it in front of me with a full glass of wine) and leaned over us to stock crackers that didn't need stocking. Also out of the corner of my eye, I caught her talking to another employee about how we were still at her table. For a rare date night, I don't like being rushed, and it wasn't like we were at the table longer than 45 minutes. I will try this spot again, because I'm a real oyster fan! However, if we are rushed again, then it is off our list. Childcare is not cheap people! read more

This place is located in the middle of nothing, it's all by itself. Well, we finally decided to give this place a try. I have to say I was completely surprised by the food. It was very good. From the children's corn dogs, and spaghetti to my favorite the shrimp Diablos, this place provided consistent great tasting sea food. I ordered the catfish po boy and my husband ordered the boudan po boy and they were both great, what I thought, they were lacking in salt, was fixed with Deckhand sauce. It's kinda hot, but very fresh tasting and it goes great on everything from the shrimp to the sandwiches and even the fried pickles tasted good with it. That's really good sauce. This place is a fusion type of sea food bar, but all the flavors work well together. The freaking service was great and I really appreciated their attention. We will be back here again. Definitely a reminder of not to judge a book by its cover. read more

So I have wanted to try Deckhand Oyster Bar for awhile and finally went Saturday to watch the UT game. Food was great. I started with half dozen raw oysters and they were fresh and delicious. My friend got the frog legs. Honestly, those were just ok for us; I have had better. For my entree, I got the Deckhand Captain's platter and the catfish, oysters and shrimp were all very tasty. The hush puppies were the bomb too! This platter is large and half of it went home with me. My friend got the Snapper Coubion and that was delicious as well. The draft beer is ice cold in frosted mugs and only $1.75. What a deal! I'd go back just for the beer! LOL! And the service.....the best service I have had at a restaurant in as long as I can remember. We sat at the bar so we could see the TV better and Jordan was just amazing. Super attentive and friendly. When I asked what was in the squirt bottles he told me it was Deckhand sauce. It's a spicy, limey chile sauce. He brought me two complimentary oysters with some of the sauce to try. Pretty amazing stuff! Oh, and before we left, he brought us each a complimentary mug of beer. Deckhand is going to become my new favorite hangout! Sorry I didn't get pics.....we inhaled it too fast. On the fence about how to rate this place. Boudin appetizer was delicious. Gumbo was ok. Snapper coubin was one of the worst meals I've ever had from a restaurant. The crawfish etouffe that was on the snapper had no flavor and resembled a watery brown gravy. Even adding salt and pepper on it didn't help. It came with seasoned rice that only tasted of bell pepper and raw vegetables. Not worth the price for that meal. Really disappointed. Took a few bites and decided it wasn't worth it. read more

This place is AWESOMEEEEEEEEEE!!! I ordered the green-shell mussels, which was topped lightly with melted mozzarella chesse. At first, it sounded strange to me, but what the heck, why not go crazy?? The dish had like 12 shells on it! More than enough and it sure was amazing. If you're not crazy about raw oysters, this dish is pretty much like "cooked oysters." Oh goodness, it's by far, no regrets. The staff is extremely laid back. They even sat down and drank a beer with us, near closing hours. If you're not comfortable with that kinda thing, you may want to reconsider. The place also has a bit of an asian twist to it, considering it's Thai owners. I highly recommend this place. My hubby and I first started coming here looking for early in the season crawfish, and we were not disappointed. Their succulent, peppery and garlicky crawfish are to die for! I was used to Louisiana style, but boy, this takes the cake. I found myself licking the crawfish to get the sauce off! We like to dip our tails in mayo mixed with hot sauce, and they were nice enough to set some aside for us, after our first trip when they'd mixed it all up for tarter sauce. Beer is cold, service always fast and friendly, ask for Candle, she's the best! After crawfish season, try the green mussels - num! read more

This place is a hidden Gem!! Always drove by this place and was curious about it, but usually skeptical because it's an Oyster bar in the middle of Texas in Round Rock/Pflugerville area. Wanted to try something new so looked up the reviews, had a good rating, the menu looked great and very well priced. After waiting ten minutes we finally got a great server that was very personable. We started with the 6x6 Tokyo showdown which was crack on a half shell, then the Thai seafood soup was full of seafood and the broth was good enough drink on it own. Then the main course came, I had the drunken sailor which some the best stir fry I had in Austin, just jam packed with fresh seafood. My wife had the stuffed longhorn catfish which was served with real drawn butter, which was awesome, she didn't care for me steeling bites. And dessert was quite different and surprisingly awesome. My wife is the one with the sweet tooth but there pandanus cake with a homemade buttercream topped with shredded custard caught my attention for sure. Looking forward to my next visit! read more

Why such high reviews? Slow service. They serve kraft mac n cheese and warm ranch. They don't get orders right. Our server sucks. I think we got the worst one. Ordered another round. 30 minutes later, no sign of our server or beer, or salad dressing...won't be back... after reading other reviews, it seems like Logan should be fired. If I could give this place no stars I would. However, I can't take away from the great tasting food! The service here is HORRIBLE! I mean absolutely, down right HORRIBLE! I should've known there was trouble when I walked in to see a "Please Seat Yourself" sign during lunch hours...on a busy Saturday afternoon! Smh. It took at least 10 minutes for our server to get our drink orders. I asked what a Cayman Jack margarita was & was simply told "a can of margarita poured into a wine glass." Seriously? I ordered a pound of crawfish & fries. My stepmother was given her entree before anyone else. My dad received his entree & I received my fries & was told that my crawfish would be out shortly. 10 minutes later our server came by a half empty table asking if I'd received my crawfish...clearly I hadn't. 10 minutes later he came by to tell me it'd be out shortly. At this time, I'd noticed 2 different tables (who had clearly ordered after us) had received their crawfish. 15 minutes...yes...15 MINUTES LATER...he came to tell us that they were making a fresh batch!!! Seriously sir?! There was absolutely NO URGENCY in his mistake or the need to fix it! If you're going to try this place, please be aware of the horrible service! The place had a great menu, but the service is lacking. I know that Friday's are your busiest and understand that you are trying to serve everyone. We met some friends this past Friday and we were good with waiting 45 mim, as we enjoyed our nice cold beverage. When we were guided to our table and took our seats it felt like we were speed dating after that. Drinks every good? Do Ya'll now what your having? I'll be right back 2 min layer Ya'll ready? We ordered our appetizers and the waitress said it would be good if you order your main meal too just in case. Well it seemed like 3 minutes later that we received our appetizers and food. Our table wasn't event big enough. The. food was good no complaints, I'll take my shrimp and oysters at same time any day of the week. We still had 2 pitchers on our table and shortly after they came by to clean our table we could tell that we were being rushed. The young host came up to our table and said are Ya'll almost ready to leave? She went on to say that people have been waiting for an hour to sit.. People next time you go out on a Friday evening be prepared to wait for an hour! A little disappointed, I called twice to see if they would be open on Christmas Eve, they said both times they close at 5pm. I even tried to make a reservation but they said not to worry, they will be open. We get to the resturaunt and they do not serve us because they are closing. It's barley 4pm, i don't understand why they would close early and not relay that there is a chance that they would be closing early when I called twice. Disappointed to say the least. read more

Ample parking. Very casual, would be a great place to watch a game and have a few beers. Food is average at best, though the steamed fish soup thing was DELICIOUS. I've been twice now. The fried foods are eh, the grilled fish was eh. There are a lot of Asian influenced dishes on the menu (which was completely unexpected) and I would come back to try those. read more

Delicious, fresh oysters. Best we've had in the city (better than Parkside or Perla's). The green hot sauce is wonderful too. We also had broiled oysters and crawfish. Awesome.
