I can't believe this place isn't at least 4 stars on average. I went with my wife, my parents and uncles on Friday Feb 9th, 2024 and we sat on the deck over looking the water. We went in celebration of my birthday. A few things that made this experience exceptional: 1. We had a reservation, but it was very busy and our table wasn't ready yet. As we stood in the waiting area, a waitress came by and took a drink order from us. What a great idea. Makes the restaurant more money and doesn't leave you just sitting there rotting. Our table was ready shortly after and we were seated. 2. Apparently making a guest wait when they have a reservation is taken seriously by the management. So, the restaurant manager came by with a free appetizer for the table and to say sorry and that they appreciate our patience. Wow! Delicious crab Rangoon too. 3. Our waitress was attentive, friendly, asked us if we'd like her to explain the menu and just showed she cared about giving us a great experience. 4. The food was fantastic. I had one of the chef favorites - a triple tail filet in a chili rub, avocado salsa, with asparagus over saffron rice. My parents had hogfish prepared Napoleon style. My wife had blackened mahi. Everyone raved about their food. 5. The waitress knew it was my birthday and gave me a choice of cake slices for FREE. I chose the chocolate cake and she brought out a HUGE piece with 6 spoons, so we everyone could have a bite (more like 5-6 bites!). The service, the food, the atmosphere - combine those 3 and you have a winning formula every time. I was just saying to my parents the day before that service is dead ever since COVID. Apparently, for some smart businesses, it's not - as evidenced by the crowd of happy customers at this place. Well done! read more

Had a birthday celebration dinner here with a 5:30 reservation on a Wednesday. Already moderately busy (very few empty tables) and were seated on the deck. Waiter was friendly but I would've appreciated if he stopped by more frequently to check on drink status. I ordered the yellow tuna blackened and had a very tasty meal. Man, I haven't had such a good meal and dining experience in this area for a long, long time. Most places with a view or where you can boat to don't even try to impress with food. They don't have to, they have a view. But this restaurant was the full package! We alerted our waiter, Lucas, that we want to take our time and he obliged happily. We enjoyed a drink, or two, which were wonderful and didn't take forever, then we ordered the coconut shrimp salad to share, with fresh out off the oven bread and delicious cinnamon butter. The salad was, in my opinion, the best I have ever had! The produce was fresh, the flavor plentiful and the shrimp were perfect. We also ordered the grouper bits which were light and not greasy. We love coming here by boat and have been here numerous times. The food and drinks are great and the decor is beautiful. We normally like sitting at a table by the railing overlooking the water. We were just here again today. Our waiter, Michael, was very nice. We have always had delightful service by all the wait staff. If you sign up for their emails, many times they send you coupons for $5 off or 10 percent off, especially during off season. I always seem to get their 8 oz salmon, blackened, because I like it so much, with mashed sweet potatoes and green beans. My husband likes to get their hogfish, but we have had other items off the menu as well and have never been disappointed. read more

Beautiful location and great views, but the food and service have a long way to go before we'll return. Started with a Mai Tai and shared the small seafood tower with my wife. Cocktail was just bad, poor taste and there didn't seem to be any alcohol in it, oh well I chalked it up to bad luck and let it go. The seafood tower was "okay", we expected better quality ingredients, everything was tasteless. Also the waitress, who was difficult to find, neglected to bring plates so we used our bread plates without a shell discard bowl, not fun!! We also ordered the signature fisherman's platter, grilled. First, it arrived as we were working on the seafood tower, presented by our confused waitress. She actually said she had to server our entrée and was looking for us to make room on the table, huh? We told her no, we had to finish the tower first. After we were done she brought back the fisherman's platter, another disappointment.Fish was dry/overcooked, mushrooms were just bizarre looking and no taste, shrimp and scallops were "okay", the broccoli was fine. We did complain about the fish and the manager was nice enough to comp the entree and offer us dessert which we declined. High expectations met with poor results, we will not return. read more

I like Deep Lagoon for its potential. Sure it is brand new and if the management is attentive to these reviews the restaurant should improve. First, you can't beat the vistas of the water. I like the nautical theme of fish mounts on the wall. It is always comfortably cool inside. I like the way the bar is spread out. The bartenders are very nice. The lunch specials are fairly priced.....not sure about the dinner menu. The Grouper sandwich was noticeably over cooked. The Cole slaw was excellent. The one sliced tomato was over ripe. I also tried the New England Clam Chowder. The soup came out Luke warm but was very tasty with ample clams. It had too many potatoes for my taste. I also tried the Ahai tuna salad. I would rather have a number of tuna slices rather then just two large slices in a salad. read more

I organize luncheons for a group of ladies from The Venetian Golf & River Club named the J.U.L.I.E.T.S. We had 16 ladies in attendance and we couldn't be happier with the staff (managers, chef, servers) at the Deep Lagoon Seafood & Oyster House. The staff set up two tables for our group in the back of the dining room along the back wall. Our server was courteous, attentive and provided excellent service. Our group was given two menus to order from. The first was a smaller "lite" luncheon menu and included tacos, grouper sandwiches, coconut fried shrimp salad and a tropical seafood salad. The second was the all-day menu which I believe only one person ordered from. The lunches were prepared perfectly with fresh ingredients. Portions were perfect. Flavors of the individual dishes were tasty with everyone raving about their individual lunches. Overall, everyone was happy with their dining experience with most of the ladies who had not visited before indicated that they would be coming back. A win-win for our group and for the Deep Lagoon! Justin served us, a party of 6. we waited a long time for drinks to start, then we waited a long time for our main course. My granddaughter (8) had chicken fingers. They were so dried out she couldn't eat them. My grandson (11) had Mahi Mahi fish. He ate most of it with no complaints, after we talked about the chicken fingers he said his was very dry also. I try his fish and it was terrible, tasted like sawdust. The manager did take off quite a bit of money off our check. It was not about the money. It was about the service and the quality of food. We have been there before and never had any problems. Tonight was very disappointing. My wife and I felt sorry for Justin our waiter not totally his fault. He could have let us know why there were delays. The restaurant was not that crowded. We should have been told if there was a problem in the kitchen. Considering not returning. read more

Deep Lagoon is a classy joint, lots to look at and a great menu. The place was packed with women in their 50s dressed liked 18 year olds. That's par for the course here in Florida. They had a ton of employees, and they were all running around like crazy. We had ordered ceviche but I'm guessing the waiter forgot about since it never showed up. We weren't charged so we never even mentioned it. They have an extensive drink menu, but nothing very interesting. I loved everything about my meal (Swordfish Napoleon), but the hubbies Grouper Oscar had only a teaspoon of crab which was a disappointment. We will be back...happy hour is in our future. read more

My husband and I have been here twice now and love it! It's about 3 miles from where we live and wish we would have tried it sooner. We've had the coconut shrimp, calamari, salmon, captains platter, chicken fra diavolo, pine apple upside down cake and all have been amazing! We sat outside both times and the way they have some air out on the patio along with the shades is perfect. You get a great view of the ICW. We had great service both times and never felt like we were being rushed. We did make reservations both times so I'm sure that helped with getting seated right away. read more

We enjoyed a Sunday evening dinner. We were graciously greeted and seated promptly. Blake was our server and was knowledgeable about the menu items and was able to tell us able items that helped us make a selection. They have a nifty drink and dessert menu that is electronic so you can peruse the brands carried by the restaurant. This presents no surprises for the patron when it comes to the bill. Our entrees were very generous, Grouper Oscar and Tripletail and very delicious. This chef knows how to create wonderful tasty meals. Was enticed to visit after seeing a review for the recently opened Blue Lagoon in Osprey - and the photos and review were spot on. Love the clean, modern feel of the venue, and while the view is not of the Gulf, seeing the interior waterway with boats arriving and departing was great. We sat inside (it's still summer in Florida), but the outdoor dining looked great as well. We love fish, but I think asking the server for their suggestion may be a wise idea at this restaurant. Our salmon and swordfish 5-oz portions were just right - but looked to be fresh from the freezer. Several different sides are available with the meal. A big surprise when we arrived was the wine special of $30 off per bottle of wine - with the purchase of 2 entrées! (I believe it runs through October.) read more

I am so glad I waited to review this place after giving it a third chance. First two visits were very underwhelming. Entrees seemed pricy for very basic fish dinners, cocktails basic, staff was ok. We normally love Deep Lagoon, but tonight we had a horrible experience there. It is Halloween, and perhaps Giovanni (our server) had something else on his mind. He put water down, never asked us for our drink order and disappeared for over ten minutes. Later, we saw him talking to the girls at the hostess station. We finally got up to leave, I was looking right at him and he did not even acknowledge his ignoring us. I told the bartender we were leaving and she apologized and kindly asked if we wanted to sit at the bar. My husband had had enough and said no. We told the (I think he was) manager and he was very apologetic as well. We will be back to try again, but this was a terrible "welcome back" for these snowbirds who have supported your gift card promotions during your slow season. Sad. read more

I love this place. Excellent water view, food, ambiance, and service. We moved here from California last year. Since it was our first time here, Marty, the young wait staff, was friendly, patient in going through the menu with us, and he was completely attentive to our needs throughout our visit. Except for the Fish and chips hubby ordered everything else we ordered surpassed our expectations and more! We made reservations for 14 two days prior.We were seated at a table too small for our party with the evening sun in the eyes of half our group.When we asked the window shades to be lowered we were told the setting sun would soon be low enough that it wouldn't be necessary to lower the shade. Sometime later, with half our party shielding their eyes as they ate, the shades were finally lowered. My meal was served nearly cold and had to be reheated.
