I can't begin to express how impressed I was with Deep Run Road House. We had them Cater our wedding on 9-9-17 at Tuckahoe Plantation and they were fantastic! The team took care of everything and were so pleasant and helpful, we couldn't have asked for a more professional group. And what about the food you ask? Well, the food was on point! We had the chicken and brisket as our main dishes with mac-n-cheese, green beans and Texas caviar as sides and I can honestly say I don't know that I've ever had a better meal. Our guests told me countless times how great the chicken was, how delicious the mac-n-cheese was, and how tender the brisket was. They also provided some vegan options that turned out great! I have stopped by Deep Run Roadhouse several times and every time I am very satisfied. They have renovated the seating area since I last visited and it looks great! We've been here a few times and every time we go, we experience the same subpar customer service. One time, we placed an order for pickup to sidestep the customer service, but ended up waiting for more than 30 minutes for the order without an explanation from anyone for the wait. When I finally asked, they said they had the order wrong. 15 minutes later, they handed me the order without so much as an apology. The food is good, but nothing exceptional. For the same average BBQ, I'd rather give my money to a place that will treat me like they want me to return. read more

We tried several types of meat: ribs, quarter smoked chicken, brisket, and pork bbq. The ribs were dry and tasted like they had been under heat lamps for several hours. Even so, the flavor was nice; if they were fresh, they would've been MUCH better. 2 STARS The quarter smoked chicken had some flavor, but definitely didn't "wow" me. We sopped it in the sauces provided at the table (one spicy, one sweet). 3 STARS Pork bbq was the most flavorful, but again, it didn't live up to the hype of the restaurant. Barely scrapes in at 4 STARS. We tried the collard green, corn bread, green beans, and Mac 'n cheese. 3 STARS for collards and green beans, 2 STARS For cornbread (dry!), and a solid 4 STARS for mac 'n cheese. This was the most flavorful part of our meal. Maybe I would go back...but for $40 bucks, maybe not. I thought the south knew how to do bbq?! read more

The location is in a strip mall near where some friends live on Gayton Rd. The food was not horrible, but for a barbecue place with the great reviews I saw on here, I expected more. I liked the very casual decor and the variety on their menu board, but for the cost both my husband and I expected to get more than we got. Self seating after you order and you also get your own drinks. No waitstaff. The corn bread was huge and delicious, but I threw my green beans away after 3 bites. They had little flavor and actually tasted canned. For ten dollars I got 3 small squares of brisket about the size of my thumb and two sides. The largest thing on my plate was the cornbread (which was one of the sides offered). The brisket was cooked well, tender, with a ring around the outside just like it should be. The flavor of the two sauces on the table did not impress me much. Nothing special about them to make me want to return. I was amused at the Patrick Swayze "Roadhouse" theming of the BBQ sauce flavors though. They also had an assortment of hot sauce on a tray at the bar, near the self serve drinks. All in all, I go to a barbecue place for the barbecue and while the meat was flavorful and juicy (worth a star on its own), the price did not match the serving size (except the cornbread, but then again any other BBQ place I have been gives you the cornbread for free in addition to two sides). read more

Probably my favorite BBQ place in RVA! I got the brisket sandwich which was so tender and absolutely delicious! My husband is a big fan of their catfish sandwich and our daughter loves the kids chicken slider. We've made our way through most of the sides which are all fantastic but our favorites are the sweet potatoes, jalapeño mac & cheese and the collard greens. I ordered the brisket sandwich all the way, potato salad and collard greens. The collard greens were pretty tasty. The potato salad horrid and the brisket was the worse disappointment of the day. I went here with my parents. There were so many options, we had difficulties picking, but ultimately settled on the Texas Rope Sausage BBQ sandwich, Roadhouse Cuban, and 1/2 rack of ribs. We definitely weren't disappointed because all of the stuff we picked tasted delicious. This is seriously the best BBQ place I've ever gone to! We had Deep Run Roadhouse at our wedding October 17th, 20 and it was great. The food was amazing and we got alot of compliments! The only hiccup we had was the delivery driver was running a little late and was almost to the venue when he realized that he'd forgotten the rolls. He ran to the store and bought us some but barely in time for us to do our grand entrance and 1st dance. Hit the spot for barbecue! Came here after deciding on BBQ for lunch and then finding out the Q BBQ up on Lauderdale near Broad was closed. Had to get my fix, and a friend recommended this place. The hush puppies were SO GOOD. BBQ chicken sandwich was good, cole slaw was tangy and sweet. Personally I was not a fan of the jalapeño mac and cheese, so I couldn't give them five starts. The Mac and cheese was just way too creamy and liquidy and a bit bland. Will keep this on the short list for great BBQ spots in Richmond!... Although that list is getting awfully long! read more

Amazing. You know you have had a BBQ 'experience' when it's the day after and you are still thinking about that meal. We live about 90 miles from Richmond but travel thru every couple of months for shopping, camping, kayaking/fishing, etc. Saw a Groupon for this restaurant and decided to give it a try. We got the potato wedges with pulled pork, bison burger with pulled pork & cheddar cheese, side of cornbread, and side of roasted sweet potatoes. Every bite was delicious and my mouth is watering now just thinking about it. The BBQ has great flavor. The bison was juicy. The cheeses & grilled onions were the perfect compliment to the potato wedges & pulled pork. My groupon was a '2 for' deal so now I can't wait to go back. It is not too far from 288 and DEFINITELY worth the detour if you are travelling. read more
