Never going to Dekra's Inspections Only again. The manager now doesn't have any employees, just a "one person on duty" sign. The signs have you drive the vehicle around the building, and wait behind the building where they can't see any cars. I sat there for almost 10 minutes and then had to get out of the car in the rain and go inside to tell him I pulled up, meanwhile he is bent over his phone. Since I came in the building without his instruction, he got angry, and told me to go wait in my car. I got back into my truck and sat there again but then way off in the distance, the guy is yelling to me, in the rain, with my windows up, to pull forward, waving his hands. I was not sure what I was supposed to be doing or where to pull up to. I eventually saw where I needed to go, but I had to do a hard 90° left turn with my full size truck. The left rear wheel of the truck hit a cone and what I think was a brick, and he yelled at me about that. Then I had to pull the truck into the very narrow inspection bay, worried I was going to hit something else he had laying on the ground. He then barked out instructions about "vehicle off, key fob in the car, something about the ebrake and to go wait inside..." absolutely zero customer service. I hand him the insurance and follow his instructions and I go inside to wait. Two minutes later he walks in and says, "I can't do any inspections, my equipment is not letting me do just an emissions test, I've got to call the State." At this point my jaw drops and I didn't know how to respond. He also did not leave my insurance card in the vehicle and I had to walk back over and get it, he had left it on his computer. I was in an out in probably 10 minutes. 2 cars ahead of me. he was hustling to keep things going. if you as a visitor know what to do ( pull up to the marked spot and have your insurance card ready to go) then you'll be good. Only one attendant working today. Looks like its going to be 2.5 hrs to get out of here with the 5 cars that were here waiting when I stopped in. This place is rarely if ever fast, but today it is abysmal. I should have gone to the Custer and Spring Creek location. Ah well, I guess it's probably Dyrka not replacing or hiring anyone if they are closing up at the end of the year. Otherwise, they would have to pay them through February for the two months notice however that works. Meanwhile, I'm screwed. The worst part is they locked everyone out of the waiting area and make you wait in your car instead, so it's a bunch of gas too sitting with the car Islington for hours. People can't even leave noe when they ate done for the cars jammed into the lot that are hanging out onto Custer Rd. Get your inspiration done where you get your oil changed or your dealer. Places that do service wouldn't dare treat their customers this way. read more

I needed an inspection on my car in order to get my registration updated this year (2024). I was headed to Firestone when I spied this inspection location. There were a couple cars ahead of me, so I joined the line. I read reviews while I waited and was afraid it might not go smoothly, but it did! After a reasonable wait, they were ready for me. I gave them my keys and waited in their inside waiting room. Before long he came out and gave my car clean bill of health. I paid and went on my way. I'm sure that Firestone or other locations would not have been nearly so expedient. Great job, thank you and I'll see you next year. read more

I parked to wait in line for an inspection, and the attendant/inspector on duty left (for what I can only presume was a lunch break) without even stopping by to tell me (1) he was leaving, (2) how long it'd be before he returns. Had another man, who was also unsure about the whereabouts of the rogue employee, not come by and give me a heads up we had been abandoned, I might've wasted my time for an indefinite amount of time. For all I know, the employee could've closed shop and I'd have been none the wiser. Just sitting there waiting like an idiot. Obviously, after waiting some and then connecting with the kind gentlemen and fellow customer, I relocated and will not be returning or recommending this location for services. read more

Awful experience! I don't usually post reviews on yelp but the guy working there was one of the rudest people I've ever encountered. He will make you stay in your car regardless of the weather/wait time. If you get out of your car, he will make sure to yell/knock on your car window while forcing you back to your car. Please stay away from this chain of stores. The "inspector" was eating and chewing as he came out to ask what I needed. He was picking food off his teeth right before he entered the vehicle. I asked of he was going to clean his hands.... It went downhill from that point... he couldn't find a real reason to fail the vehicle so he picked the wiper blades.. I have $35 each blades that do an amazing job in the rain... well he swore to God the wiper was no good... of course he offered to replace it... thats the catch, upper sell... I obviously declined as he was so rude... drove to Orreillys and the staff was interested in seeing the "failing wiper blade" everyone agreed the wiper was perfect... orreillys staff informed they have heard all the horror stories from the dekra store... this is a TREND ladies and gentleman... I installed a new to stroke the guy's ego for power! As I handed him the papers for reinspection he forbid me from standing in the AC in a 95 F weather... he handed me the Pass papers Now I have 3 new very expensive wipers, the 2 good ones I had plus the wasted money one I had to get. I always go to reputable places and I paid dearly for going out of my way to dekra! Stay away, it will save you a lot of frustration! read more

Service here is quick and easy. I was very impressed with the speed of service. When I walked in I was asked for my key and insurance and was told it would be 15 minutes. Within 10 minutes I was told my car was good to go! The only reason for the 4 star and not 5 is because the guy who helped me wasn't the most pleasant but he did do his job and was quick at it. Absolutely recommend coming here for your next state inspection. read more

I will never go there again. The line was long and the guy was rude. He told me to wait in my car in the 99 degree Heat/Sun until it was my turn. I guess it is corp. policy is not to let customers inside the building until it is time to pay. I can and did go to a place that I could wait inside in the A/C. You can bet I will NEVER pay them for an inspection ever again. It is to bad because they are really close to my home. read more

I rarely leave reviews, but my experience yesterday was so awful that I feel like I had to leave a review. I pulled up to the DEKRA station at 11:15. The 4th car in line. And then we waited.... the inspector didn't come take the first vehicle until 11:45. My husband and I ventured a guess that the inspector may have been a little slow due to the cold weather and tried to give him some grace. 9 cars pulled in as we sat and waited. And then continued to wait. Plus did some more waiting. We watched as the first vehicle that was inspected left, and watched the inspector stand and look out of the window at the pile-up of cars in line for about 10 minutes or so. At this point, we were keeping exact tabs on the time, to figure out if it was worth the continued wait. At exactly 12:47, the inspector came out to get into the 2nd car that had been in line with us since 11:15. At 1:07, I watched 4 cars behind us leave. We finally decided to do the same thing after the inspector still had not gotten finished with the second car at 1:13. The truck behind us politely backed up so we could get out. We used to exclusively use DEKRA for inspections. Now, we won't come back. Why is only one person working on a weekend, which I assume is likely one of the busiest times for inspections? Why is the inspector taking so long per vehicle? Why is he standing there looking out of the window at a deluge of people waiting, with no urgency whatsoever? Approximately 50% of the cars that were waiting for inspection, including us, left without inspection in the hour and a half we waited in line. Again, just to be clear: in an hour and a half of sitting there wasting gas, exactly one vehicle had been completely inspected. read more

I forgot about my brake light being out and happens to have a new brake light in the car with me, the guy offered to replace it right there and even did most of the work! My car then was able to pass inspection! What a time saver! Thanks so much! read more

I've done my last, wow, probably six inspections here (two cars over three years), and they've been fantastic. Sure, it's kind of hard to get excited about this kind of work, but they employees I've spoken to have been friendly and professional. They get me in and out as quickly as possible. The waiting area is small and not fancy, but it works. If this is what you need, it's a great place to get this, and nothing else, done with a minimum of fuss. read more

Sat in line for a few minutes and a gentleman came out. He was very nice and asked me for my insurance. I had to look it up on an app so he asked me to turn around and get in the line again I pulled around to the right when I finally got it. No big deal. Just wanted to keep things moving. I get it A second gentleman came out shaved head, tattoos on his arms and a big chew in his mouth that was dripping off his lip and rudely just said "insurance". I was so shocked about how Rude he was. I asked him "you need to see it again". He said you showed the other guy but not me. I pulled up the insurance and showed it to him with my phone. He snatched the phone out of my hand and walked away with it. Are you kidding me? You do not take someone's phone out of their hand. This is extremely unacceptable. He asked me to go inside. I asked him if I could stay in the passenger.Seat. He said no it's not allowed. It's a federal law. I drove off. Now I don't expect top-notch service but common courtesy is something else entirely.. stay away from this place. What a nightmare‍ read more

On 7/25/23 was my 1st and 2nd trip and 7/26/23 was 3rd and last trip. I noticed sign stating only 1 technician to do inspection but figured I'd give them a try anyhow. On my 1st attempt I waited until it showed that guy was taking at least 25 minutes per inspection; with time I'd already waited and 3 cars left ahead of me it was still going to be over 2 hours so I exited line gracefully. 2nd attempt line was closed and unable to be detected until after getting onto the parking lot which is also very inconvenient since they have it blocked off at the Custard entrance and can only be entered off of on Legacy which by the way is one of the busiest streets in the area. 3rd time the tech was rude and untrained in people skills. I was on a call that I needed to finish before getting in the line. He took time to yell about me being parked on the lot. This time should have been used to help customers that probably had been waiting in the line for 25 minutes or so. I was still going to get the inspection since it's only 5-10 minutes from my house but I decided to drive from this location all the way to The Colony for the amazing service that I received. The employee was such a stinker in his tone, mannerisms and attitude that I'm also going to blast them on Nextdoor so my neighbors will know how horrible and slow this place is and hopefully won't waste time. Whenever I think about this I will search for another platform to rate them on to show how dissatisfied and unimpressed I was with the experience. I feel sorry for the guy who was probably overworked being the only tech and probably underpaid. This combination can bring out the worst in employee but it's still not an excuse to talk to your customer like their your wife or mother and you're the king of the parking lot throne. Got an inspection then went to get gas a week later and noticed my gas cap was missing, which is behind a locking gas door. Went back to ask if they accidentally kept it and they said they don't have it and the manager said "he don't just throw away a customers gas cap," would barely make eye contact, and offered no apology. Obviously the car couldn't have passed inspection without a gas cap & the manager was the last person to touch it since he performed the inspection. It's okay to screw up, it's how you handle it that matters most. read more

2 stars because they got the job done and I've used them before. If I had not been there before, today would have been my last visit. They were "average" busy, 5 people waiting, not swamped. Just seems the normal busy level for this company. I know the routine so came in with my keys and insurance and went straight to the counter. I wasn't really greeted, just a grunt. Whatever, I don't expect much from a quickie inspection station. They called my car as done and wouldn't let me use my phone to pay. It doesn't need a special reader, it works with any card reader. Fortunately I had my wallet with me. Again, not surprised, don't expect super high service from a place like this. I get in my car to see a warning "turn off your headlights". WTF? OK, so somebody checked the lights and didn't turn them off. Then I'm pulling out on to Custer and see in a review mirror that my fuel filler door is open - sigh, lazy oversight, whatever. Then the red lights on the dash go off saying "check your fuel cap, filler door open". Not shocked, I already saw the door open. I made it home, went to close the fuel filler door only to see THEY LEFT MY GAS CAP OFF! I'm very lucky, with my car, to have made it home with no gas cap as it messes up the fuel pressurization even if it's loose, let alone missing. I could have been broken down in the middle of busy Plano traffic, clearly a safety hazard. All this adds up to what I would call lazy, inattentive staff. My expectations are extremely low and they didn't even live up to that. I need to know that my car will be in the same condition as when I gave it to them to check, and above all else, IN A SAFE CONDITION TO DRIVE HOME! I'll probably go back next year only because I've never seen the same employee here two years in a row and clearly the issues I had were due to really poor employees that just don't care.On the bright side, with guys like that it can be easy to get a bad car a passing score since they obviously are just biding time until a better job comes along. Management needs to start soliciting customer reviews like so many others do nowadays. I think they could pinpoint opportunities for training and upgrading quickly and build a much safer business and more loyal customer base. read more

In and out within 30mins at the end of the month. Wait in car till car taken for inspection and the. It takes about 15mins. Max 2-3 people at any given time in the waiting area so works for those who are social distancing as well. read more

I usually get my car inspected here but haven't been in awhile. I came today and it is SO run down and junky inside!! Rugs everywhere to cover broken floor tiles. But I don't think anyone has vacuumed...ever. There was trash on the floor and dead roaches all over. While waiting for other customers one employee sat on top of the counter playing on their phone. Following is my complaint and reason for a 1-star rating (the lowest, would rate lower if possible): I have an older model (pre-2000) car that the dealer told me needed to be tested using a dyno machine. I brought the car to DEKRA (Custer and Legacy, Plano, TX) a month ago and DEKRA tested using a dyno and passed the emissions portion. However, they said I needed to replace a tire and the wipers. Regarding the tire, I brought it to a discount tire and was told that the tire was close to the limit but still passable. It seems DEKRA decided to fail the tires anyway for whatever their motivations. I replaced the tire anyway and the wipers as well. Because I brought the car back past the 14-day free re-inspection period, the car had to be re-inspected all over again. However, the second time, DEKRA used a computer test instead of the dyno, which was done the first time around. The computer test failed due to certain modules not being ready. The dealership already told me that the computer test will not work on the car and needed to be inspected using a dyno machine. DEKRA knew this fact, which is why they tested using a dyno the first time. I argued with both attendants on using the dyno machine instead of the computer test. They could not provide a justifiable reason, except to say they need to test using the computer first, even though they didn't do that the first time around. The shorter guy even threatened to not honor their 14-day free re-inspection. I don't understand, and they could not provide any reasonable explanation why they changed their testing in two different occasions, except to think that I might go past the 14-day period again and have to pay again. In the two times I was there, I also saw them fail 3 other inspections. Take your chances if you want to go to them. Not going back to them! read more

I have gone to dekra for years, only had one other problem (inspector reprogrammed my radio to heavy metal) This time I encountered an employee who was angry to the point of abusive to the car's he tested and yelled at me to the point of being afraid for my safety. When I asked for his name, he would not give it. I contacted the corporate office to inform them, and they did seem to care, but didn't seem to believe my account of what happened there. Terrible. My wife went in there yesterday to have her car inspected and the guy LOST her insurance card from the time she gave him the keys and the card to the time he drove it around the station. Not only did he lose the insurance card, he refused to inspect the vehicle for the lack of an insurance card. I am so sick of the incompetent customer service and lack of accountability that is running rampant these days. If I did my job like this, I would be fired. I have been going here for years but I will not be going back. The last two visits have not been impressive. They need to step up the interview process. read more
