My family and I came here years ago and it was a great experience. From their customer service, to their food and atmosphere. All was great. However, our recent visit was completely different. We were seated on these filthy cushions and didn't realize until halfway through eating. The food was lacking in flavor and love. When my husband tried to address the couch cushions with the owner, his excuse was because of the tariffs. We were taken aback by his comment mainly because it didn't even look like the owner attempted to have them cleaned or covered. I mean there some affordable cleaning products out there. Why would any owner be ok with having their customers seated on these and it wasn't just a few couch cushions. I cannot forget to mention that our waiter, Gabriel, was so sweet and amazing. He provided great customer service and if I can give a separate rating for him, it would be a 5. They are all wonderful. The Stacked Caprese gives you three giant pieces of mozzarella sandwiched between huge tomato slices. It's a very nice starter. The Chopped Italian salad is enormous and great for sharing but it is lighter than you might expect. It has meats, beautiful shaved cheese, veggies, and olives. It's very good. The Calzone looked a bit like a deflated football but looks can be deceiving. It was excellent with tons of meat and flavor. The Fettucine Alfredo was very good and not as heavy as this dish almost always is is elsewhere. The Fettucine ai Gamberi Rosso is a huge plate of pink pasta with giant shrimp. It is also very good. Think we found our New favorite pizza and pasta in Carlsbad!!! My husband and I decided to take an overnight trip to Carlsbad from OC Tustin Ranch. After a nice walk, we wanted something simple and delicious and not overly crowded or too pricey. We wanted pizza, pasta, beer, wine, and salad maybe?? I yelped for both Italian restaurants and pizza. Del Lusso restaurant appeared to have ALL OF THE ABOVE! We arrived and immediately we were greeted with a friendly smile, and were seated where we wanted, even offered the outside heater. I guessed the owner realized that we were struggling what to order and he kindly & friendly suggested based on what we wanted...and for only 2 of us, we decided to order everything he recommended! Del Lusso Pizza seemed like a convenient option, so I called on Friday to speak with a manager about possibly bringing our group there on a regular basis. The person who answered said they'd get a manager. When someone else picked up and claimed to be the manager, I politely asked for their name so I could properly address them and introduced myself. Right away, their tone was abrasive and dismissive. When I asked again for their name, they got even more aggressive, repeating, "I am the manager, what can I help you with?" in a rude and unprofessional manner. I was taken aback. I calmly told him that based on his tone, this didn't seem like a place we'd want to do business with, and I ended the call. That same night, I had a group of 24 people that was at our weekly event and half of us went out to eat after our event--and we chose Eureka, right next door. The food was excellent, the service was warm and welcoming, and everyone had a great experience. We ended up spending over $400 there--money that could have easily gone to Del Lusso had the customer service on the phone been even remotely respectful. It's a shame. I always want to support local spots, but a rude first impression goes a long way. We'll be sticking with businesses that treat potential customers with basic courtesy. read more

Del Lusso deserves no more than a one star rating, not the 4.5 star rating as shown. As a product development team member, any food product I was involved with always needed to be consistent in flavor, appearance, and product quality. This is why I am so critical of the pizza at Del Lusso as the cheese, sauce, sausage, and dough had little flavor. The sausage was very disappointing as it did not have any Fennel flavor and the menu described it as Fennel Sausage. I've been here twice now, and both times have been amazing. It's a cute little Italian place where they take there business seriously. My first time there I had the fresh bread with olive oil to start, and the bread was delicious- you could taste the real ingredients and freshness. Went to grab take out today 12/6/24 around 12:30. It wasn't busy there was only one table with people dining ....and the host I'm not sure i think his name was Del? He was super welcoming and friendly. That is what made us want to order. I ordered the caprese sandwich which came with a side salad. However when I went to eat it I had been given chicken milanese. I was disappointed but wasn't gonna make a big deal since i didn't wanna go back. I just ate it. It was ok. It was a good sized piece of chicken, tasted ok but the bread was hard. I took the chicken out of bread. Lol. Side salad was excellent. Son ordered Salsicciota pizza. Smells so good in the car. Lol he said pizza was good. Honestly, the space is cute to hang out at, everyone seems to enjoy themselves... nice casual spot to go eat at... BUT the pizzas are truly bad. Me and my partner ordered 2 different pizzas: Marinara (No Cheese) and the Bianco. Both arrived barely lukewarm, the toppings clearly tasted and felt cheap- chewy even. Marinara SAUCE on the Marinara pizza was... barely existent? It was genuinely maybe a spoonful to cover the whole "pie", and I'm being generous. We then also ordered 2 alcoholic drinks, the Melograno Melon Margarita and the Strawberry Velvet. Both these drinks were cheap canned drinks which was not disclosed to us, so we were surprised when they arrived with them. Which btw, did look it up, they're literally 3 dollars per can and they're selling it at $13... insane. We don't remember the other brand, but we looked it up and it was the same, the Melon Margarita brand is Melograno... feel free to check out the price on that and compare. Nothing against the servers, they're just doing their job and, yes, they are attentive, but the service cannot save the food at all. Perhaps we just missed the memo and you're not supposed to eat pizza here and their forte is something else, but pizzas here are definitely not served with good proportions, ingredients or care, it feels like they just bake the pizzas and let them sit under a warm light until someone eventually orders it, $21.85 for a sauce stained flatbread is ridiculous.
