I got there about closing time and bought the rest of what he had. Super nice folks and excellent barbecue. Will be back when I'm in the area again. Absolutely fantastic and I do mean fantastic. Best BBQ we have had in years. The meat is incredibly tender and the brisket is the absolute best I have ever tasted. Macaroni and cheese is delicious and the fries are crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Pure perfection. The only negative I can say, but I can assure you that it won't stop me from stopping in every time I'm in the area, is BBQ this fabulous needs a better sauce. The sauce is bland. We stopped at Delauders BBQ on our way into Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge and I'm so glad we did! Not only was Denny and his wife wonderful to us, the BBQ was the best we've ever had! My family loves BBQ, we smoke at home all year round and we have had great BBQ all over the country, but Delauders is amazing! Simply the best. We had the pulled pork and brisket which were perfectly cooked. The first bite was unreal and there was absolutely no need to even add the bbq sauce they provide, even though it is homemade and excellent! Disappointed The reviews for the BBQ were great and I am very picky with my BBQ so we thought why not! It should have been not. We ordered the 5 meat choice and they were out of sausage so we got 4 meats. The menu said BBQ chicken breast NOT a flat thawed breast of chicken a 1/2" thick with some seasoning thrown on and call it BBQ chicken if it hit any kind of BBQ grill or spit I would be surprised. The ribs were so salty we could barely eat them, in fact left most on the plate. The brisket was good, and the pulled pork was great. Another really good BBQ meal! Stopped in for dinner about 15 minutes after they opened and glad we got there early, there was a line out the door when we left. Please don't judge the place on appearance, it's a little hole in the wall, but it's clean inside and run by a hard working family. Don't expect to go in with a large group as they only have 5 tables. Definitely my one and only BBQ stop when I'm the Smokies. Delauders BBQ is the most exemplary model of Tennessee BBQ. This is after we tried two other BBQ joints in town days before, and this place, blew our minds. This place destroyed us and built us up all in that sitting. This was our must-visit when we went in October, and the first two times, we were cracking up. It's like your local restaurant in a mountain town. The restaurant itself is a hole in the wall place not even in the busiest part of town, you have to drive out for a while, and thankfully, it's quieter and less congested. The first time because we called over ten times after hiking in the Smoky Mountains, and no one picked up. When we showed up, it was completely dark. That was a no-go so we ate a whole rack of ribs in town. We found out later they are closed on Tuesday. The next night, I checked the website and Yelp and tried to make it right when it opened, at 4. This time, it was also dark. We were confused and I saw a handwritten sign that read "Car trouble in Nashville." It just made us want it more. The next afternoon, we stopped hiking and just headed straight when we realized it was open. We wanted to make it this time. It was open! The line was out the door and it was drizzling. We were willing to get wet. It was worth it. It was more than worth it. This is a family establishment and you can see everyone involved. There are only around 5 round tables and the setting is simple, but the line went quicker than I thought. We probably waited around 20-30 minutes. They take your order at the counter and then you are seated. The grandma was our waitress, and she was funny as she joked "Eatin' time" with a snicker and brought our plates. We still say "eatin' time" to this day, because the original saying preempted one of our favorite meals. We got the Brisket Dinner and the Dinner for Two. At those prices, the quality is out of this world. The brisket is soft and well-cooked and melts in your mouth and the ribs were quite possibly the best ribs I have ever had. They are seasoned perfectly and so soft that they are juicy. They fall off the bone with a bite, but keep the perfect substantial texture so you can still have the juicy meat. The pulled pork was pretty good but I would say the winners were definitely the brisket and the ribs. The ribs take first place. The fried mac and cheese were to die for. The coleslaw, baked beans, and tots were also good. But man, those ribs... The smoky mountains are amazing, but if you are looking for the top BBQ in the state, this is the place. I really enjoyed Delauders BBQ. Its a great little local place in Gatlinburg and the prices are very reasonable. The people are very nice. I got the pulled pork plate with 2 sides, coleslaw and collard greens. The greens were excellent. I really enjoyed the pulled pork, it was very smoky and tender. They put a little bit of sauce in with the pork, but it wasnt like covered in it, and they have bottles on the table to add extra. Tried this place on a whim from reading reviews. My boyfriend and I shared the cheddar jalapeño bites and dinner for two: half rack ribs, 1/2 lb pulled pork, 2 sides and 2 buns. We went around 7:30 pm on a Saturday night for take out. The place was very busy. The food took about 30-40 minutes, which is to be expected on a Saturday. They even gave us extra ribs because of the wait, which was sweet. I asked for extra bbq sauce and hot sauce and they informed me they don't have hot sauce I was very disappointed by this and find it odd that a bbq place doesn't serve hot sauce. The cheddar jalapeño bites were very good. They were hot and cheesy with just the right amount of kick. The jalapeños were diced into small pieces and deep fried. The sides we ordered were baked beans, Mac and cheese and okra. I found the baked beans and Mac & cheese to be sub par. Nothing to write home about, very basic. I loved the okra. They were deep fried to perfection! Just the right amount of batter. This place excels in their deep frying, haha. It tasted very fresh. The pulled pork portion size was HUGE. I found the pulled pork to be above average (7/10) had a nice savory taste. I have had better though. I strongly feel this could be elevated with some hot sauce. Lastly the ribs. I stopped by here this past Friday evening with my wife for dinner. We were looking for a place with some to go food whenever my wife pulled up Delauders BBQ on Yelp. With 5 stars on 400+ reviews, how could we say no? So we headed on over and arrived to the restaurant at around 5:30 PM. Upon opening the door the first thing that you notice is the smokey smell which is fantastic. Due to COVID they now have a set up where as soon as you get inside you wait for the hostess to greet you. If you are dining in she will take you to your table and if you have a to go order, she will take it. Everyone on this day had to go orders and so we were stacked up inside the door until she told us it would be 20 more minutes at which point we popped outside to sit on a bench. In any case, the inside of this restaurant has a lot of antique looking items along the walls and then a bunch of dine in tables as well. Then along the side wall they have two cash registers. After the couple after us they actually sold out and pulled down their open flags and put out their sold out sign right before 6 PM. For our dinner on this day my wife and I decided to split the Smokey mountain nachos and the sampler dinner. The menu described the nachos as nacho chips topped with pulled pork, nacho cheese, lettuce, jalepenos, tomatoes, onions and sour cream while the sampler dinner is a five meat plate with ribs, pulled pork, brisket, chicken and smoked sausage and came with two sides. We decided on the fried Mac and cheese and the collard greens but they were out of collard greens and so we went with the fried squash instead. After about a 30 minute wait our food was ready and we headed back to our condo. We first started off with the nachos for which they had put the cheese into to go cups. They ended up being pretty good as the cheese was nice and creamy and the jalapeños gave it a nice kick. The real star though was the pulled pork which was juicy, smoky and flavorful which was a nice pairing with the nachos and cheese. Once we had finished with that we started in on the five meat plate. There was a good amount of meat stacked high on my plate and I thought that all of it was really good. Out of the meats, the ribs were my favorite as they had a nice dry rub on them and had a beautiful smoked flavor. While they weren't fall off the bone, they were tender and good. The sausage also had a good smoky flavor and almost tasted like a breakfast sausage. The chicken was moist and juicy and I ended up eating it on the provided bun which made for a nice sandwich. Finally the brisket was tender and juicy and also had a nice smoky flavor to it. As for the sides, they were both great. The fried squash had a nice and crunchy exterior and then the soft squash interior which both my wife and I loved. Then the Mac and cheese had a nice crust to it and some jalepenos in it which gave it a little bit of spice. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. There are only about 6 tables, but the family run business makes you feel welcome and keeps up well. We were sat in less time than quoted. We tried a verity of things including the bologna sandwich, stuffed potato, brisket and ribs. You can immediately tell the meats are the same as the mass produced bbq you get a lot of places. The ribs were a bit dry but had a great smoke flavor and were still tender. The pulled pork was top notch and the brisket was exactly as ordered. (I prefer the lean cut) The BBQ was good enough you didn't need sauce, but the one sauce offered added good flavor. This family-owned & full of character restaurant is towards the top of our BBQ list. Delauder's was only going to be open for a couple hours the day we visited, and according to their over 500 positive reviews, they could sell out VERY quickly. We arrived early and since we didn't see a line yet, we waited in the parking lot for 10 minutes after the opening time. ( we didn't want to be THOSE people who wait by the door ) Upon entering, it's easy to recognize this is a family business, as their behind the counter staff is made up of less than 10 people ranging from teens to elderly. We ordered the Dinner Sampler which had all 5 types of meat + 2 sides. The pulled pork was super moist, with great Smokey flavor. This was the best meat out of the 5 in our opinion. According to Cody, their house BBQ sauce was amazing. The brisket was moist as well without being overly fatty. The sausage was just the right amount of spicy and juicy. The smokiness was present in every bite. The ribs and chicken were delicious, however next to all the other amazing smoked meats, the ribs and chicken were outshined many times over. The Mac & Cheese was known to be a hit amongst the customers, and although the flavor was very good, we're usually not fans of macs with a baked/crispy layer. The beans were very good, flavorful enough to make it obvious they were made in house with a nice tangy kick. (The bun was a regular store bought hamburger bun we didn't use) We enjoyed the food here so much we bought one of their T shirts We HIGHLY recommend this spot for anyone visiting or passing through the Gatlinburg/Smoky area. Pulled pork was very tasty and a little sweet. Had a few sides and most were good. Liked the beans, okra, fries. Forget about the potato salad. They were out of one side and when we were leaving they were putting out the closed sign, a little earlier than the posted closing time, but when you are out you are out. I have had Delauders book marked since they made the top 100 and I have heard from other BBQ lists it's tops in the USA. Since we were in the area we needed to give this a try. Delauders is located outside of town and is kind of hard to locate because it's behind some buildings. You definitely want to find it. We came for lunch just after they opened. The place is a family business and the gentlemen was very nice to talk with. We were in no hurry as they were still preparing the food for the day and he kept apologizing. No worries, great BBQ is worth the wait. We wanted to try several things so we wound up with a ton of food we took with us. I started with the two meat with pulled pork and ribs. They seam focused on pork and that's fine with me. The ribs are absolutely delicious, tender, juicy, fall off the bone delicious delight. I loved them. They had perfect flavor. The baked beans and potato salad were excellent, but I came for the meat. The pulled pork was full of flavor and the sauce made it perfect. I sampled the Sneaky Pig which is pulled pork with Sweet Habanera Sauce, sweet onion, and lettuce. There is nothing sneaky about this pig, it slaps your taste buds with perfect flavor. It's delectable. I also sampled the Holy Bologna Sandwich which is grilled bologna topped with pulled pork, onions, pickles, Nacho Cheese, lettuce, sweet Jalapeño Mustard, and BBQ sauce. I don't know about holy, but rumor is this beast weighs a pound. It's pretty messy and hard to handle. I didn't think it was as amazing as the Sneaky Pig, but it was very good. My wife & I visited Delauder's BBQ for dinner when visiting the area. The inside is fairly small with only a few tables, so it was about 15 minutes before a table opened up for us to sit. The atmosphere was casual and the restaurant was fairly clean, but very cluttered. Some of that is obviously for ambience, but some was just...clutter. She ordered the pulled pork sandwich with fries and I choose the ribs with fries and the fried mac & cheese. My wife (who is not a big BBQ fan) said her sandwich and fries were very good. We stopped here after exploring the smokies based on other reviews, and it's true...this bbq is DAMN good. I was a bit hesitant at first because I'm clearly not from the area and was worried about not "fitting" in. However, everyone welcomed us in with open arms. To the point, that a young man flagged us down because the sign said "cash only" but he told us card was fine too. I believe it's a family that runs the restaurant, which is awesome because It's great to support local businesses. The whole family was super sweet especially the grandmother checking in and even mentioned she made the nachos extra pretty for us lol As for the food, goodness. We got the smokey mountains nachos and dinner sampler...all damn delicious and the portions were big! One of the best pulled pork I had and the ribs and bbq chicken were up there too!
