Although this hole in the wall doesn't look like much more than an old car shop that has closed up, don't be fooled. This was some of the best pulled pork I've ever had. The meat was incredibly moist and flavorful. You don't need BBQ sauce to cover any sort of dryness. I'd prefer it without sauce. The fried Mac N Cheese? Like getting the perfect bite of oven baked Mac every single time. I had the burger as well and I wish I'd gotten the pork instead. The burger wasn't bad, but didn't compete with the pork whatsoever. How to rate this place, hmmmm....... If you think a good BBQ joint is measured by the quality of its meat, this is the place for you. All five meats on the sampler platter were obviously smoked on site and worth the brief wait! And the sides were notable, too. We got the recommended fried mac & cheese and collard greens - both were spicy and had a little kick! On the other hand, if you expect polite accommodating service without a snarky attitude - at least on the numerous signs on the front door and several spots inside, you might want to slip Delauder's, refurbish if you're already having a tough day. From the funny sign on the front door about dogs not being welcome - which I strongly agree with, by the way! - to the sign advising restrooms are for customers ONLY and the other sign on the front door that says no teams or large groups and then proceeds to give a lengthy lecture about why, the mood is set before you even walk in the door. Next, you encounter the signs blocking the dining area directing all guests to wait here - both those who want to sit and those who just want to place a drive-thru order - and challenging you not to approach the order counter until someone comes to get you! Then, 10 ft further inside are the signs about vaping (don't or you'll be immediately directed to leave!) and something else. And that wasn't all! When I went into the men's bathroom, i saw another sizable sign that said don't even think about flushing your paper towels down the toilet because the other restroom across the hall isn't currently working for the same reason (it was open, in fact!) and warning that the last time it happened, it cost them $1,250! All of the content was understandable, but the attitude behind it means they either: (1) have been visited by lots of really spoiled, cranky customers who were over the top and drove the restaurant owners of staff to become dramatic, or (2) the owners or management needs a break from customer service. I thought about leaving as I waited for a few minutes but ultimately decided to try it out anyway...and glad I did, but pretty sure I wouldn't go back unless I were in just the right mood! They need to stop giving so many orders and look for a bigger place where they can spread out because the food is worth sharing with a large audience, but the snarky attitude would turn away most guests. FYI - they were friendly in person, which made the signs seem even more out of character. Worth a visit for some good food - just don't cross them or you might get yelled at, or sent packing! The irony is, if they replaced this small, dumpy old building with a newer one, they could probably attract and feed 3-4x as many customers and create many more raving fans! Da lawd has blessed this establishment with glorious barbeque. Sausage was a surprise hit among my group, smokey and delicious bite size slices. Brisket was tender and succulent. Ribs weren't fall off the bone but the addicting smokey flavor of them made up for that and more. Fries were crispy and tasty, alongside the fried mac n cheese which was piping hot and heavenly. We drove to this little roadside bbq restaurant family owned. If you're in Tennessee get there earlier only 8 tables but it's worth the wait. We got there when the opened son seated us and we checked out the menu this place is small but the FLAVORS ARE HUGH!!!! After you decide what you want you go to the counter and order take your seat and then you get served. We ordered the meal for 2 which was had ribs, pull pork , collard greens, Mac and cheese and homestyle potato salad that you could tell the family takes pride in their food. The food was top notch. We had the BBQ nachos and a brisket sandwich with fries. The nachos has a ton of pulled pork and plentiful toppings. The brisket sandwich was also stuffed with quality meat and topped with their BBQ sauce was just amazing after a long day of hiking. Their fries also had a great seasoning that I loved. We got our food at a decent time and didn't have to wait too long but they did forget our drinks (they made up for that with the quick refills). We were excited to try this place since it has such amazing reviews but where we felt super dissatisfied was with the quality. We got the sampler so that we could try a little bit of everything. The chicken was so rubbery and practically raw it was very disappointing. The pulled pork was decent but along with everything it lacked flavor. The one thing I was looking forward to the most was the smoked brisket but it was very very over cooked and dry so a huge let down. The ribs were okay... nothing amazing but nothing terrible. I didn't want to wait an hour and a half to eat supper, so I found Delauder's on Yelp. 5 stars is well deserved! If you want something froo froo or however you spell it, don't come. But if you want some DELICIOUS food, you gotta come, but don't tell anyone because I don't want to wait! Kind folks were serving, the ambiance is an old country store/gas station and I honestly wouldn't change it much to try and fit in with the fancy places. The only thing I'd change is making sure the bathrooms are spic and span. I found Delauders BBQ on a list of top 50 BBQ joints to try in the US. Yelp users seemed to agree with a very high rating so I had to take an opportunity to try Delauders while in Gatlinburg. Needless to say, Delauders had high expectations to fill. First of all, this is a hole in the wall that is not located near the main strip of Gatlinburg. So traffic was a lot lighter and no walkers (pedestrians not the zombies from the Walking Dead). But there is not many tables in Delauders so expect a wait. I was handed a menu while I waited and my waitress took my order before I was seated. I chose pulled pork and ribs with beans and fried mac and cheese for my entree. It was all good and some highlights from my meal include: ribs could not be torn apart by hand but was easy to chew which was weird for me; beans were homemade with a tangy twist; fried mac and cheese was surprisingly cheesy despite looking otherwise; brisket must be the star of the joint since it was sold out aftet I arrived 2 hours after opening; and pulled pork was a good, solid pork. I am not kidding about being unable to tear my ribs with my own hands. However, there was little help to be found as Delauders only has plasticware. At least the ribs were delicious and easy to chew, which seems contradictory to the hard time I had tearing my ribs. There are 2 sauces - the sweet tomato vinegar on the table but the more flavorful hot that has a sweet flavor with a habanero kick. I thought the hot sauce was outstanding but be warned, I would rate it a 6 on my heat scale with 1 being little heat and 10 being painful. Sweet tea was refreshingly sweet! Be warned....no employees were seen wearing masks. Delauders is a good better than average BBQ hole in the wall. Five stars for this cute little family joint! We arrived early, because after reading some reviews I did not want them to run out of food. We were promptly greeted by the owner, Mr. DeLauder, and he was very kind asking us how we were doing. Once we were inside, this place was definitely a no fuss joint! There were just tables all over, very little Decor, but very cute! You can tell, that they take pride in their restaurant and that the whole family works there. They are so polite, especially the son. I believe that they strive to give you five star service at their establishment. Their brisket, I just had to taste it. It was the best brisket I had ever had! Im not really the review things on yelp kind of guy but this place deserves every bit of the 5 stars I'm reviewing it. Brisket was juicy without being too fatty, and Smokey flavor was awesome. Fried Mac n cheese was very cheesy and was seasoned in a way to balance it out. Baked beans and green beans were great as well. My girlfriend got a pulled pork sandwich with a sweet habanero sauce that was awesome. Would also like to note I'm from Texas and we don't dole out compliments on barbecue easily especially if it's in a different state . The family that owns and operates the place (and their friends) definitely work their ass off, but still take the time to make you feel at home and are all genuinely very sweet. This place is small so it maybe a good idea to visit at an off time of the day or order carryout. We got lucky and were able to get one of the few tables available without waiting. To order food, you are given a menu but asked to walk up to the counter to order. When the food is ready, it is brought to you. Not sure why they choose to do it that way but it was fine. Hubby and I both ordered the beef brisket dinner which comes with two sides and a roll (which is actually a bun). The beef brisket was smoked and tender. The amount was also very reasonable. Hubby and I both ordered the fried Mac and cheese - it was good but I was expecting more. I got the coleslaw which was some of the best I've had. Hubby got the baked beans and he thought they were alright. Overall, we enjoyed our food and our experience was fine. I did think it was a little expensive though. We've been trying to eat here for 3 years now...before they moved to their new location it was tough to catch them before they ran out of food. Talking with the owner today, the new space offers lots of food storage and bigger smokers so it's much easier to getcha some! Hubby had the 5 meat sampler but they were out of sausage so they gave him extra ribs instead. He also got fried Mac n cheese which had great flavor! I got the nachos and they were yummy. I probably would have preferred a little less lettuce but that's just my personal preference. We got a bologna sandwich to go and the meat on that was crazy. There are 5 tables inside, so I think we were lucky that we didn't have to wait for one at dinner time. We ordered a platter with brisket, pulled pork, and ribs. All 3 meats were incredibly tender and exploded with flavor. Not sure how else to describe it, but it was the best BBQ we had during our trip to TN, NC, and SC.
