Pizzeria Delfina is supposed to have the best pizza in the Bay...try best pizza I've ever had! The crust is thin, the cheese is gooey, and the flavors are solid!
My party ordered the saffron arancinis and the burrata salad to start. I believe it was 10 arancini balls per order, but they were really small (bite sized I suppose). I enjoyed the arancinis, but I wasn't able to taste much from them. I think their size contributed greatly to that. If they would've been a bit larger then the rice and cheese would've came through a lot more. Nonetheless, the center was cheesy and the risotto wasn't undercooked. The burrata salad was also on the smaller side. Arugula, burrata, and I believe some tomatoes were on the salad. Standard fare, but the burrata was fresh and delicious.
For our main course we opted for the four cheese formaggi pizza and the margarita pizza. Both pizzas came with red sauce. However, there are some pizzas on Delfina's menu that do not come with any sauce and it's just the toppings baked into the dough. Anyway, both pizzas came out hot, creamy, salty, and made me want more! The formaggi was good, but one of the four cheeses really dominated the other three and it kind of took away from it's epicness. The margarita was our whole table's favorite. It was chalked full of yummy cheese, a hint of basil, and some creamy tomato sauce. My only gripe about the margarita is that it needed more basil. Nonetheless, these pizzas were absolutely delicious, and I kept eyeing the dwindling slices on the table.
Our last course was an order of meatballs. These meatballs were done extremely well. Sometimes meatballs have chunks of vegetables in it, too much bread crumbs, or my least favorite, bell peppers in them. These meatballs suffered from none of the above ailments. The meat was tender, there was an equal ratio of meat to breadcrumbs, and the marinara sauce is what really rounded off the dish. The marinara has shreds of pork in it. I suspect that the sauce was made out of the leftover pork scraps that didn't make it into the meatballs themselves. Absolutely delicious. A must try! Just be aware that when the waiter asks you if you would like more crostini for your meatballs, that he is going to charge you for that bread. This was not states up front. It's not a big deal, but it would have been nice to know before hand.
Overall, a really great experience. I will definitely be coming back. Just make sure you come with great company that doesn't mind waiting at least an hour for a table, or eating elbow-to-elbow with one another. read more
