We went there after seeing the yelp reviews as this place was close to Lowes Theatre. We reached there just a few minutes before our movie was scheduled and got timely service. At first I thought this was a dine-in restaurant. Upon arriving, my friend and I figured we would at least get some vegetable samosas to go before we found a place to sit down and eat. They were HUGE! Absolutely delicious. We ended up finding a diner, but after a cup of coffee decided to call Delhi Garden back and place an order to go. Looking at the stars for this place & reviews I tried it but I was very disappointed. I ordered butter chicken which is one of our favorites, it was "makhni chicken" the guy assured me was butter chicken. When tasted it was nothing like butter chicken more like chicken tika masala, not creamy or tasteful. Overly spicy for no reason and I am desi so I love spicy food. The chicken Hakka noodles were mediocre. No taste, too dry, the noodles were sticking together. The chili chicken was the only thing worth my trip here. Also the hot & sour soup which is one my favorites was horrible. Tasted like can soup with EXTRA RED SAUCE. Naans were so thin and completely cold. This place has been going down in quality of late. Just ordered dinner from here - both dishes turned out to be spicy. Not the good spicy types (i can take that), but the spicy where it is a mix of spices that doesnt blend together and leaves you with a burning aftertaste. I ordered Chicken do pyaza and it had lot of cut onions in it as if to justify the name of the dish (last i remember, do pyaza is made of onion paste). I also ordered a malai kofta - the kofta was not malai but potatoes and the whole dish was so spicy that my family couldnt eat it. I have had many a good dinners and lunches from this place in the past and feels sad at the way things are going. The name truly itself truly stands for authentic Delhi food. The chicken chops are perfectly marinated and succulent coming hot out from the tandoor. Goat curry is a definite yes and so is the chicken kali mirch korma and dhaba chicken curry. The curries are a rich blend of aromatic Indian spices with just the right amount of heat. The kababs are great as well with bihari kabab, mal mal kabab on top of my list. From the vegetarian side - baingan bharta is my favorite with the saag paneer close second. Paneer tikka masala, dal tadka are recommended from the veg gravy section. If you are in the neighborhood and looking for delicious Indian food, this is the place. I've had the delicious basmati rice, chicken tikka masala, vindaloo, garlic naan, and raita (yogurt sauce). As a rice lover, I was very pleased that it was well cooked and in a generous serving. The chicken in the meals is always super tender and fantastically seasoned. I loooove a good sauce on white rice and haven't been disappointed yet. They aren't stingy at all with the garlic on the naan, so yummy. I've only done takeout and the ordering is simple, you get an order number and a REALISTIC wait time which I really appreciate. Heard about all the great reviews and was excited to order from the place, unfortunately when it was time to place an order for delivery the man who answered was very rude. The place of delivery was to JFK hospital which is technically down the road from this place. We called earlier to ask if they deliver which they do clearly and its stated on their website. His answer "NO, we do not deliver to that place it is too far!" and immediately hung up the phone.....Umm....okay? Im sorry but we were bringing lots of business to this place. Came here on the way to an event in Edison purely based on all the glowing reviews on Yelp. The staff was nice, but the food was seriously lacking. The potatoes in their Aloo Papdi Chaat were barely visible, but the sauce was delicious. They gave me chicken in the entree I ordered when I ordered paneer (I am not a meat eater). Garlic naan was doughy and bland. My boyfriend seemed okay with his goat dish, but we were starving and would have eaten anything at that point. Staff was very, very nice and there is no seating, but I'm sure they would have let us sit and eat at their waiting table if we asked.
