I found this place on Yelp, which rarely fails me when I take other people's recommendations. This place also appeared on my Yelp recommendations feed as places with top pancakes. All that, I HAD to give them a try... The first thing I noticed when I walked in was the ambiance. I loved it! Simply, yet tastefully decorated, with soft/easily listening rock playing. It was easy like Sunday morning, just like it was legitimately was! My eggs were cooked to a perfect over-medium. My breakfast came with 2 sausage patties, and 2 pieces of bacon and 2 pancakes. I was not a fan of the breakfast meats. I did not care for the taste of the sausage patties, nor did I care for the texture of the bacon. It was actually tough. Maybe because I had high expectations going in, but my pancakes were my biggest disappointment. While they were fluffy, the taste was just okay, if not too bland. They were also a little tough around the edges, indicating they were a bit overdone. Honestly, I was shocked that these pancakes were sent to me as some of the best by Yelp, but hey, we all have different tastes, right? I was in Dallas for a few days visiting family, and they took us to Scrambler Café... what a great place! It's tucked inside a shopping mall, but don't let that fool you, this spot is perfect for a laid-back indoor breakfast or brunch. Our waitress was super friendly, and we got our food way faster than expected (bonus points!). We tried the eggs Benedict and the avocado lox toast, and wow--both were absolutely delicious. We've been coming here every since they opened this location. We stopped by since my boyfriend loves breakfast, and we were looking for a regular spot to go to, and we definitely found it! Stepping into the restaurant, the owners Art (not sure I spelled his name right) and Tim were so welcoming, and we loved saying, "Hi!" every time! It's truly what brought us to come back every weekend and we really miss them! It seems like they're busy opening up their new spots, and there are some new friendly faces now, but we love them too! By far my favorite breakfast place at the moment when I wake up fully refreshed after a full night's sleep and looking to eat uppity. The opposite being a certain waffle place when I've been out all night and looking to eat ratchety. But I digress. Love the atmosphere, from the moment you walk in and you feel like you're walking on water, and no, it's not because my name is Jesus.....look at the floor, you'll know what I mean. Staff is friendly and very accommodating. Now to the good stuff. This is the first place I've been to where I've had breakfast tacos where the corn tortillas were lightly fried, enhancing the flavor, and elevating the taco to a different level from what you're normally used to. I do this at home with our breakfast tacos and it's the only way to have corn tortilla breakfast tacos, so that was a pleasant surprise. The chicken carnitas and chorizo were very flavorful and complimented well with the citrus of the pico, balanced out with the creaminess of the sour cream and the nutty notes of the guacamole. I'm sorry....I must have thought I was writing for Bon Apetite there for a minute. The tacos were delish! How's that for summarizing? We also had the avocado Benny's, which were really good. Ended it with a shared plate of cinnamon bread French toast. Not a cinnamon fan here, but the fruit, powdered sugar and syrup really made this a superb plate of pain perdu (look it up and learn a couple of Pepe Le Pew words for the day). A lovely café for breakfast or lunch. The place overall was extremely clean and just had cute decor and a nice vibe. Our server was super friendly and came by multiple times to check on us. For example, the chicken fried steak here has a breading that goes soggy under gravy. The other (the eyes of...) cafe has breading that doesn't do that. Pancakes here are above average, but just a touch short of truly fluffy. Monte Cristo has good but short of egging. And so on. Really enjoyed! It was really busy but we were able to get seated, order and be out of the restaurant pretty quickly! The prices were very reasonable and the food itself was yummy! I got an iced vanilla latte and it was so good- the perfect balance of sweet and "bitter" coffee. Food wise I got the Avocado toast, I was personally disappointed because the menu didn't state that the avocado would be lemon/limey- so it was very citrusy. I'm not a big citrus person so it was hard for me to eat it. But overall it was good and my partner really enjoyed it when he tried it. He got the Meat lover skillet and it was really yummy! Scrambler Cafe is a good value. The establishment is still new and the entire team was very welcoming and friendly. Upon walking in, however, there was a odor in the air- it was dry drain. I couldn't help but immediately be a bit turned off by this. But, I had been wanting to try this place and eventually I acclimated to it. I had the Traditional Breakfast which was a good sampling of eggs, hash browns, choice of meat and pancakes. The food came out in less than 5 minutes- which was really impressive. Now, different parts of the meal warrant different ratings. The eggs and pancakes on my dish were definitely 4 stars, but the bacon more of an average 3 star rating and the hash browns a 2 star. Overall, the food is still a great value at $10.99 for the Traditional Breakfast. The employees here seem to have high morale and enjoy working here. It's a cheery atmosphere and they play great music! Overall, the food is a good price and aside from the unpleasant odor in the air, which is something that should be easily remedied, the meal was very pleasant. Will definitely be back! read more

Basic breakfast spot with not-so-basic food (superb and served hot!), service (friendly and fast!), and atmosphere (clean and cozy!). I had a sweet tooth combo, which included both sweet and savory items. Since I'm a lover of all things breakfast I was excited to see several options where I can get a taste of different items. Everything I was served was tasty and cooked to order. My husband ordered the Hash Stack and he said it was fine. Personally I can't wait to get back and try more from the menu. Our server, Heidi, was upbeat and prompt. She checked our order a few times to ensure it was correct, which is much preferred to the alternative - a wrong order arriving to the table. We both had coffee and the entire team pitched in with warm ups and refills. We also had a visit from the manager to check in on things. I really appreciated that the whole staff was wearing face masks and keeping things clean! The restaurant doesn't serve alcohol as far as we can tell so it definitely falls squarely into the breakfast category rather than brunch. Also, we haven't tested the availability or speed of WiFi which is a typical requirement for us as we often work from these types of spots. Finally, I do hope that they put tables outside for the nicer weather! Overall I'm excited to welcome Scrambler Cafe to the neighborhood and look forward to coming back - as soon as next week! 4-15-2023 - This is a great place tucked in the corner of the shopping center. I had great service and delicious food both times. We observed a lot of servers working. Everyone was friendly and all working together to take care of us. Plenty of tables and booths inside, and they have extended booths that are nice and roomy for our party of 6. We haven't had to wait longer than 5 minutes for a table. There is a small shaded area for outside seating. Would love to keep this place a hidden gem. I have to point out the floors are beautiful not what you usually see in a restaurant. The kids meal Mickey pancake was great, and it was very large. I had the garden scrambler, the veggies were fresh, crispy hash browns and 2 pancakes, all so good! Some other menu items we ordered were chicken fried steak (classics) on the breakfast side served with two eggs. Biscuits and gravy, hash stack with cinnamon toast. The menu doesn't have a veggie omelette option but you can build your own, add cheese to your grits. Breakfast tacos can mix/match the chicken carnitas or chorizo. The grilled chicken sandwich on toasted sourdough and the fries were the perfect crispness. The single side pancake is huge, like the size of a 9 inch plate, (sad I didn't get a picture of it). Great home style food and nice size portions. I honestly would return for the service alone. I have gone twice in one week and my 2nd visit was just as exceptional. The staff really does a great job with working together and helping one another. I visited on Mother's Day so you can imagine the crowd, but when I say they had things together I truly commend everyone including the chef and management. While the food is tasty, and service is good, the items I've ordered on prior occasions are a tad expensive for the amount of food offered, but more problematic is that the advertising for some items leaves one a little annoyed. For example, when building one's omelette, I learned after the fact that every item I added (tomato, green peppers, even cheese), had a separate charge. The waiter wasn't up front about that. Another example--for pancakes, when it shows a card stating "Choice of Topping: Fresh Berries, Banana, Pecan, Granola, or Cinnamon Swirl", the restaurant charged for the topping that I chose. When I asked why I was charged for the topping (bananas), I was initially told "because you didn't order pecans". When I suggested that there was a "choice" of toppings, and then when either the head manager or owner was consulted, the response was that it didn't say "Included", and that the bananas were "Fresh"). So if I had chosen rotten bananas, they wouldn't charge extra. The issue isn't the $1.59 for this additional item or $1.99 for that additional ingredient. The issue is a little bit deceptive advertising, as well as the response (so much for "the customer comes first.") I guess anything to make an additional amount. read more

We came here to eat on their outdoor patio the other day with our dog. I wasn't feeling breakfast, so got a chicken pesto panini with a side salad. The side salad was actually much bigger and substantial than I was expecting, so that was a nice surprise! The panini was alright, but nothing to write home about. From the moment we walked in I was impressed. The atmosphere is clean and inviting. I loved the decor and open, airy space. We were immediately seated and Crystal came to serve us (you're a gem, Crystal! ;-)). The food was outstanding! Seriously! I am NOT a breakfast person but if I was local, I would be!
