What a Pleasant Surprise! All praise goes to Devour Indy for taking me on this adventure of modern Latin culinary excellence. The first thing you notice when walking into Delicia is the decor. An upscale casual ambiance with densely populated low-lighting and trendy decor, which creates this well-lite soothing environment perfect for getting to know that special someone. The bar area is the heart of the dinning area, creating a colorful contrast and welcoming environment for your next cocktail hour. The food was Equally impressive! Our server Victoria started us off with a tasting of the house soup while we looked over the menu. My friend and I were having a hard time deciphering the contents of the soup but we both agreed it was Hopeful. A slightly salty and meaty-flavored soup with a creamy textured created by stewing and then purifying beans. We went with the Devour Indy Menu Course which included chips & guac, 2 mains, and 2 choices amongst 2 cocktails and an order of Churros. All for only $45, which was a Deal! Chips and Guac was a Great start to the meal. The extra fresh lime in addition to the fresh onions and pistachio nuts really made it for some great Guac! For the main, I went with the incredible combination of a marinaded steak with fried egg, plus black beans and rice and fried plantains. My friend went with a cocktail for her "dessert" but I choose the freshly fried churro with a sweet cinnamon and coffee chocolate sauce. I normally don't order desserts, nor am I a fan of fried foods, but these Churros were a real treat. Perfectly fried to be crispy but not greasy and lightly covered in cinnamon sugar. And the portion size was just right, not too big to weigh you down but a nice cap to end of the meal. I really enjoyed Delicia and would definitely go back for the ambiance and service (Victoria was great!). But I was disappointed with a few things that prevents me from giving it 5 stars and a glowing recommendation, all of which are easily correctable....which is frustrating. The steak cut they used for my main was skirt steak, which is common in Latin dishes and when marinaded well can bring A Lot of flavor to a dish. But probably most important for skirt steak is the need to cut the steak against the grain, otherwise the steak is incredibly chewy. My steak came out cut into large chunks instead of small strips. This would have been fine if the knife they provided me could cut the steak into smaller strips. However, this wasn't possible. Instead I ended up cutting the steak into smaller chunk size pieces and chewing away as I responded to my friends question with a full mouth. The flavor was great and the steak was perfectly cooked (all of which is the hardest part), but they fall short on the Very Last Step before plating. Simply taking the time to cut the steak into smaller strips could have prevented this aggravation and made a Fabulous dish. But this didn't happen, and given how simple and fundamental this is to skirt steak its just disappointing. Rice. A stable part of Latin dishes and loved by many countries. In fact, cooking and eating rice is a part of many people's daily lives. So having bad rice at any restaurant, particularly a nice restaurant where entrees are $20+, is Incredibly.....incredibly disappointing. My plain long grain white rice was old, dry, and undercooked. The Simple beans and rice side dish is a favorite of mine when going out. But after 1 or 2 bites of my rice I couldn't eat anymore. It's hard for me to understand how a nice restaurant like Delicia could make bad rice, it's cooking 101. My bad rice really kept me from enjoying this perfect addition. I really enjoyed Delicia, put these few points were a real disappointment. I still give Delicia 4 stars for everything else and it's great potential, but I hope my experience was just a one time occurrence. read more

Although it took me forever to try this place, I finally did, and it lived up to all the hype. Yes, parking can be a pain, it's Broadripple after all, but just plan on parking in one of the neighboring side streets and you will be fine. My friend and I visited on a weekday around 7pm and had no problem finding a table. The inside of the restaurant is a intimate setting, but the decor makes you feel like you could be in NYC or LA with its trendy urban decor and its sleek bar. We stared off with the popular Fire 'N' Ice concoction which was interesting to say the least. It isn't too spicy unless you allow the ice ball to melt and release the hidden chili seeds inside. I found it to be a strange cross between a spicy margarita and a bloody mary. We paired the Fire N Ice with the Queso Fundido to add additional spice to our bellies, a perfect combination. For the main course, I ended up trying the Sparkling Bird drink, which is DELICIOUS, along with the Empanadas. The empanadas were a good mix of cheese, beef and creamy habenero sauce, the green rice that accompanied it was slightly bland though. Unfortunately, I was too full to order dessert, but believe me, I will be back to try their Tres Leche cake, it looked divine! Delicia has steadily grown on me with each visit! I was admittedly surprised by the price my first visit. It's more expensive than any Mexican type restaurant around... Until you realize it's not like your average Mexican restaurant. The website calls it "innovative Latin American cuisine" which it most certainly is! My favorite thing about it is the decor and atmosphere! The design is unique and well done. The outside of the building does not do it justice! The food is amazing and original! I always opt for the empanadas because they are so good I can't come without ordering them! The guacamole is also really good! Pair it with a margarita or one of their other specialty cocktails and you have it made! They also give you a little shot of broth/stew deliciousness before your meal which is a great touch! Wow!! This place is amazing!! I first heard about this restaurant at a yell event and had a taste of their guacamole! Had to then yelp them and check them out. Everything posted on their page looked amazing. Walked into this place about 15 mins prior to the kitchen closing, we had no idea. Saw that they were open until 11, however, the waiter was very kind and informed us we had until 10 to order. Service was particular! For appetizer I tried their ceviche with fish shrimp and octopus. That dish was delicious! Lots of flavor and the chips were a perfect vessel. I ordered the Brazilian Moqueca for my entree and every bite of this dish was amazing. It's a shrimp dish that was covered in a coconut curry kind of sauce with a scoop of rice. This dish is definitely a must have! I am sure I will have it again. A friend and I went there for brunch this morning and had a great time! It was kinda empty for a Sunday brunch which is odd. I love the Latin inspired menu and the fact that you can order half sizes of the richer entrees. We split a Cuban Toast and the Breakfast Tacos. I had never heard of breakfast tacos before so we were intrigued. They are each wrapped in 2 tortillas and generously filled with an eggs, salsa, guac mixture. The Cuban toast had walnuts sprinkled on it and was great also. It's made in condensed milk and was rich and sweet. I also ordered a Cafe Olla which I loved! Id go back just for that coffee. It's a cafe with I think nutmeg, orange, and some spices and topped with whip cream. I didn't need to add any cream or sugar. It was pretty and different and tasted great. The service was very friendly and our waiter was helpful in explaining the menu and making recommendations. I would def recommend this place and will be back with the husband! Sometimes I get a little nihilstic about reviewing places like Delicia. Like, does anyone care what the 327th reviewer has to say about a very well-established, well-loved 4 1/2 star restaurant? Probably not, but I'm going to give it a shot regardless. I came here (finally!!!) for brunch with a large group of friends. Delicia doesn't take reservations, or at least not for brunch, so you have to be prepared to wait. In our case, it only took about 10-15 minutes before we were seated. The service was spot-on, especially considering our large group. The food was outstanding. I tried samples of several dishes, and don't think I would have been disappointed in very much on the menu. The food is rich, so the smaller than average (and by average I mean oversized American) portions are actually perfect. So, even though my review is not all that important in the grand scheme of Delicia's Yelp existence, just wanted to let you guys know ... Delicia is still awesome. read more

My dad and I come here quite often for our weekly brunches and it's one of our favorites. We both get the Huevos Rancheros and it was delicious. The food came out quickly, it was hot and it was appealing to all the senses. The presentation alone is pretty great when layers of tortillas and black beans topped with pico de Gallo, avocado and mostly importantly, an egg sunnyside up! I would come here just for a drink and an appetizer if I want to keep it casual. Enchiladas de pato are lovely. They do seem to change up the menu frequently. I came to the area a few months ago and had an amazing daiquiri, but it wasn't on the menu this time. I asked if they could still make it, and they were able to, but it definitely wasn't the same, so I might stick to their menu offerings next time. They seem to put a lot of care into that. Now that guacamole was off the chain good! You can taste the freshness!I I completely enjoyed that pop of serrano! the queso fundido is a salted hell. Entrée: I did the fish tacos the pickled onions weren't my favorite thing on the taco. Out of the 3 tacos the aioli wasn't consistently distributed one had too much and on the other one it was barely there. The pickled onions tasted more like salt. I don't believe they did anything for the tacos I personally feel the taco slaw and pickled onions needs work. The herb rice is beautiful to look at! it's green! Love that..but it was flavorless ;~( flat and bland good thing because the black beans were off the charts with salt. I get the salt and pepper thing when cooking but too much ruins a good thing. Dinner was okay needs a little tweaking before I'd say fabulous. I'd dine here again for the empanadas I'm curious about how they taste. How did it take me a year in Indy before trying Delicia! I've been to Nook and Northside Kitchen, but this was a first for me at Delicia. All I have to say is wow, this was one of the more creative restaurants I've been to in the area. The carribean-latin inspired take on dishes was fantastic. We started with the salsa trio. I loved all of them but I think my favorite was the pepita salsa, it was so unusual and creamy! The chips were especially good as well. We also started with the shrimp and crab dip, which was a nice light appetizer. In the future, I would cut back on the appetizers (there was just two of us, but our eyes were bigger than our stomachs!!). For entrees, I ordered the ramen stew, it was absolutely delicious and so unique and interesting. The drinks were also amazing, my husband loved the fire and ice marg! First time we have been here, we were looking for a new place to try that looked interesting as we are food lovers but now dine with a tiny one along when we get the chance to get out. So glad we stumbled on this place we drive by all the time... we have been missing out! Trendy, upbeat atmosphere but not too pretentious. The staff is super friendly and accommodating from beginning to end. Even kid/ baby friendly. The menu is full of vibrant delicious versions of Latin and Caribbean dishes that leave you inspired and wanting more. We started with the tres salsas, the chips were definitely warm and freshly made... excellent! The three Salsas each had good flavor but weren't over powering, nice starter to share. Mango salsa was very good. We also shared the golden beet salad with whipped herb goat cheese and toasted nuts... can you say yum! Goat cheese really is what brought each of the elements together on this dish, light, beautiful and refreshing. There were 3 of us and we had the : moqueca which I had never heard of before but was between a Latin stew / curry (style ie not curry spice). Comfort food at its best, the shrimp on top were big and delicious, cooked perfectly and so much to share. Barbacoa empanadas... not like the little fried (or baked) empanadas you are used to. $24 seems like a lot for empanadas until you see this large plate with two beautifully large empanadas thin crispy outside packed with meat and flavor, sauce drizzled on top with green rice on the side. Tamal corn cakes just delicious!!! Never had anything like it. Sweet tamale on the bottom which was almost like corn bread but less dry, piled high with barbacoa covered in salsa Fresca and crema, bursting with flavor and too much too eat. Sides of yucca mash very good, roasted veggies cooked perfect with good flavor. Esquites was very good, not amazing but good flavor. Would have loved to try the churros for dessert but we were way to full and brought home left overs so next time. The drinks were ok, not outstanding ... spicy margarita beautifully done but was very spicy so a difficult pairing with spicy food, I would do it differently next time. Mojito was good a little sweet and less carbonated mint flavor. The one negative would be the regular water. Not sure about everyone else but I always try to drink plenty of water when I am out to dinner. Great time to hydrate and also keeps me from way over eating .... not that I don't often over indulge...anyways the table/tap water tastes absolutely awful... like a warm salt water pool. I immediate ate one of my daughters puffs to clear the taste ( desperate !) soooooo next time byob of water ... I will bring my own water bottle:) other than this: service and staff was outstanding. Had a wonderful meal tonight with friends at Delicia. One friend spent a semester in Spain and although the food is Latin American, it reminded her of experiences abroad. It's dishes are packed with flavors that perfectly complement one another. The guacamole was also delicious! The seafood medley dish is a bit spicy. I enjoy spice, so I loved it! But steer towards another dish if you like it mild. Great date night or business dinner atmosphere - very high end. The other side apparently has more of a street/bar feel and is cheaper. read more

We arrived at 6pm on a Friday and we're able to get a table right away (just beat the rush!) For drinks, we ordered Margaritas and Manhattans. The appetizer, Mofongo, was a great starter (awesome plantain cups with pork, pineapple relish, and onions.) We ended up sharing three incredible entrees - the duck enchiladas, the pork tenderloin (a special), and the braised short rib. The portions were generous, and we were all stuffed by the end. We ordered the guacamole and salsa trio to start. The cacahuate salsa was definitely different and not nearly as hot as our server warned, but it was still amazing. We slightly regret ordering both, because when our entrees came, we weren't as hungry. Nevertheless, the lechan asado and tamal corn cakes were equally as delicious and well-presented.
