The owner is truly an owner most people would want to meet. We came from Seattle and ended up running late. We scheduled to picked up our donuts at 12:00pm and ended up arriving at 1:15. We of course called the owner to let them know our situation. She was super friendly over the phone she even stayed after closing to hand us over our donuts knowing she had a family at home you could tell her customers really mattered. As soon as we arrived she greeted us with a big smile on her face. She let us use her bathroom and even gave us a free box of donuts. This is something you don't see everyday. This shop was recommended to me by a coworker. Little did I know that they were only a couple blocks from my house. These donuts were amazing, fresh, melt in your mouth food and the size are great. The donuts are the perfect consistency, soft when supposed to be soft. It is a family ran shop owned by Boun & Penny (the sweetest couple). I love good customer service. Amazing donuts and super quick service. Safeway was not open and I needed to get some donuts so I stopped and got some. Good flavor and small tasty spins on some original recipes. They did not have a huge selection but the ones they had left me wanting more. A couple miles out of the way headed to work but so worth it. The filled donuts are so good. My friends at DD, I am a huge fan of you and your doughnuts, frequented your place many times and have suggested to many more. Since your write up for being "The best doughnuts in town", I have come in a couple of times to find the environment less than appealing. Two things in particular; please STOP doing the pre-boxed thing with your doughnuts. I know you are probably doing it for expediency purposes, but it creates a true clustered mess. I would rather wait a few minutes to have you guys hand-pack me a box, than go through the hassle of wondering where some of my favorites are. I had heard wave reviews about this place and decided to give it a try since they have some Asian specialty flavors. I stopped by on Friday just before 1PM only to realized they were wrapping up the day and closing. They had some boxes prepared and I asked about the pandan and ube flavors. The lady behind the counter who later identified herself as the owner. She immediately suggest that I should buy the box with the Asian flavors prepared. These were the same ones I was thinking of getting. I told her that is a lot of donuts. There were at least a dozen there. She had offered me the box for $12. So I declined and told her I just wanted to try several flavors. I ended up getting 4 flavors. pandan, coconut, ube and Viet coffee. When it was time to check out, my 4 donuts cost $9.50. As a new customer which she knew because I told her this is my first time coming in. I think as a common courtesy would suggest I get the box she suggested fir $12 instead of 4 for $9.50. I didn't want to have her put the donuts back but just would think she would offer the donuts for the price. This to me shows that they are trying to make every profit they can and not think about the customer. I left feeling cheated or dumbfounded that I got ripped off. Regards to the donuts. Not that great like how many reviews have expressed. Definitely not going there anymore. Their donuts are really delicious! Also cheap!! They have huge apple fritters and if I remember right it's 1.60 (?). My favorite was the maple bar, I'm a classic gal. I also had their drip coffee, wasn't anything out of this world but the line indicated that people didn't necessarily come for the coffee. These aren't as fancy as Blue Star (overrated and overpriced anyways), but for some traditional donuts these are really good. Also preferred these to Coco Donuts. Our favorite was the apple fritter. Went here on Friday at noon at they barely had any left, came back early on Saturday, and by the time I left there was a line out the door. Seemed really popular with locals and rightfully so. I am glad to see the numerous reviews stating that they'd choose this over Voodoo. this is a great little local place. my boyfriend and I stop by several times a week after work and we are always greeted with the same friendly faces. their donuts have never disappointed us and they are obviously doing something right to keep us coming back. I have also noticed that they have quite a loyal following that they acknowledge on a first-name basis (and no, not just the police officers!) this is a place that I would recommend for breakfast if you are in the area, as they do breakfast sandwiches aside from just donuts. there is not a bad thing I could say about this place. you should definitely give them your business. read more

So I just did a to-go order, and everything was just right. There may be other establishments around town; however, what sets this establishment apart from the rest is the customer service, family-owned factor, and the quality of the food with attention to detail, as well as, having reasonable pricing.... Many of the various establishments around town do just the the bare-minimum as they know the prices are LOW enough to where the customer service, as well as, other important aspects can simply slip right through the cracks as people will in fact come back and line up day-after-day. : ) Also, the breakfast items are very good. read more

Forget the 'touristy' pink donut place, and the 'blue' donut shop!! NOTHING is as good as Delicious Donuts. Absolutely the BEST donuts in town and you cannot beat the price. Hands down Delicious Doughnuts make the best fritter I have ever had - they should win awards for these things. I love Delicious Donuts. They have great breakfast burritos and wonderful donuts. There blueberry cake donuts are so good and I am not a cake donut person. They also did special HAPPY BDAY letter donuts for my husband. Penny was so patient and kind with me while we figured out the flavors. Great donuts and burritos. Huge plus is the free parking in front if you can fit. Small but friendly place is nice. Only issue was they only have one phone line so calling an order an order in for a pick up is not always a guarantee. They have daily specials so check them out. read more

I desperately want to give delicious donuts a 5 star review. If my review was based solely on the merits of these slightly greasy, crispy circles and shapes of heaven, then I would give them seven stars. The loss of stars comes from several factors. First location, location, location. This place is situated in a dumpy strip mall loitered by day laborers looking for work. Second they have to keep the front door locked to keep unwanted people from coming inside. Third they make a finite amount of doughnuts and when they run out they close down early. Maybe the sign on the door should read "daily from 4 AM until we are out" Stars are reclaimed by the girl that works the counter (I think her name is Penny) she is so sweet and considerate that she recoups a star just for being her. In addittion these doughnuts are better than ANY other doughnut store in Portland. Sorry voodoo these doughnuts are that good. I stop in about once or twice a month. Owners Penny and her husband, are the nicest people to ever serve me a donut. The place always smells incredible and if you get there early enough the selection is so amazing that I'm sure you'll buy more than you could eat! They have an amazing donut, the buttermilk bar. I can't even begin to describe how great this thing is. When I walk in, they don't even have to ask, if there are any left, they hand them over. A delicious donut indeed, the chocolate bars, maple bars, blueberry, cream filled, giant apple fritter, or beautifully folded bear claw, any choice seems to be a good one. So I just crossed the bridge on my way back to my hotel and I'm hit by the most incredible smell on the face of these earth. Like Toucan Sam, I follow my nose, not my heart or my brain. This led me straight to the door of Delicious Donuts. I'd been craving donuts since I passed Voodoo a while back but was unwilling to wait in line, so I basically heard angels as I walked through the door. The smiling man at the counter recommended a maple bar, went in the back, and told me he was giving me the freshest one. I don't even like maple bars, but that was one of the greatest donuts I've ever eaten. Mouthgasm.
